I use Es File Explorer, and have used other apps to delete files off the nexus 7 storage. However when I plug it to the PC and open the internal storage, I see the files are still there. The files HAVE BEEN deleted though, as when I click on the file, it says file corrupt, and doesn't take up space anymore.
For example I put a movie file into my tablet. I watched it, and deleted it after I'm done. I plug it on my pc and I see the folder and file still there.
how can I fix this?
It can be a pain because I use my nexus 7 to read my school documents.. sometimes I rename the file, and the whole thing is corrupt, as in I can't open it when I plug it in my PC anymore, because the names doesn't match. Or If I don't remember correctly which files I've deleted, and re-delete it when I use my PC, soon it will be fill with a lot of useless files when I open the internal storage on my PC.
Any help? I don't remember this being a problem before, I was able to edit/delete files, and it would show up as is on my pc.
Also, when I open a folder with pictures on my PC, some files do show the thumbnail, while other files just show the default pic file.
Basically my nexus 7 feels very 'corrupt' and slow when I browse the files on my PC. Anyone else have the same problems?
You could use ADB instead

Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody could shed light on the following scenario:
When I connect my HD to my PC using windows mobile device center and successfully sync, i then navigate to a windows explorer tab and open up my storage card. I can then browse files, copy and paste, rename etc, however, i can not edit word files. When i open up a word file on my device via my pc it is locked as read only. The only way to be able to edit such files is to disconnect, and then reconnect my device, but in disk drive mode.
Does anybody know if i can edit my files and use activesync at the same time?
Thank you very much for your time
I very quickly copied some stuff into my Media folder before I left home yesterday and then at work decided to sort it out a bit. I connected via USB to my Windows PC, with Kies installed, and then went to the phones file system in Windows Explorer.
I could see all the stuff I copied in the Media folder. I created some new folders for music and video. I then dragged some video files from Media into the video folder and that worked fine. I went on to drag some folders of mp3s from Media into the music folder and that seemed to work - but actually it just copied the folder and not the contents! It has somehow managed to delete all my music files and just kept the empty folders
Anybody else seen this? I guess if I had moved the files inside the folders it would have been ok, but moving the folder as a whole caused the problem.
I'm about to clean up my phone for a bit, so will test this and report back.
I'm using KF1
Update: It's fine here.. some little bugs when moving files but after trying again everything is okay..
interesting - I just tried it again and it seemed fine but that was after copying some new files onto the phone via USB cable.
I wonder if it is to do with how I got the files on there in the first place? I used ES File Explorer to navigate to a network share over wifi and copy/pasted them to a local drive - perhaps it didnt mark the folders as having any contents or something? I'll try it again when I go home to see if I can replicate the problem.
Hi,
I noted that in the G2 any files created are not seen directly. For example, I scanned a document using camscanner and when I looked for the cam scanner folder through the pc it wasnt there. Other folders like DCIM etc were visible. When I browsed the phone through a file browser in the handset, the files and folders were visible. The only way to see the file on the PC was to copy it into a visible folder through the handset, then open that folder through the PC. What is this and how to work around this? It doesnt happen in my S4

I am using Windows 10. I have installed the latest Google USB drivers - downloaded and installed from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html .
When I plug in, my device is detected, which proves that the drivers are installed.
1) When I touch the Photo Transfer option (PTP), I only get the DCIM and Pictures folder. If I open the DCIM folder, I see thumbnails of all my images. Some thumbnails show the actual image as well. However, when I open them, I get the following error: http://postimg.org/image/y2c805lgd/
Why?
2) When I touch the File Transfer option (MTP), I can open the DCIM folder, and I can see all the thumbnails, but I get the same error as above. ( http://postimg.org/image/y2c805lgd/ )
In short, I am unable to open any JPEG files created by my Nexus 6P camera on my laptop. I copied the JPEGs to my Desktop, and I tried to open the files, and surprise - I am STILL getting the SAME error!
The error is "Windows cannot find "". Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
I am able to open TEXT files, and other audio files from my device. It's only the images I have this error with.
Please help.
What happens if you right click on an image and select "open with..." and manually choose an application?
There is no "Open With". There is Open, Set as Desktop Background, Edit, Print, Cut, Copy, Delete, Rename, and Properties. Copying and pasting works, but opening the transferred file from my Desktop also throws the same error.
This could be something to do with encryption.
Seems like it was an issue with Microsoft Photos (the default photo viewer app in Windows 10). I replaced it with another third party app from the store, and the photos open fine.
This is bad Microsoft. I don't know why this is happening.
I use Infranview with no problems, I also installed ccleaner to uninstall all useless preinstalled apps in Windows 10 (Alarms, Calculator, Weather) and also uninstalled Photos and just use infranview. fast and works with everything I throw at it. good luck!
