WM6 SDK

I just downloaded the WM6 Professional SDK from Microsoft, but since I don't have MS Visual Studio 2005, it wouldn't let me install the SDK. I tried doing a "msiexec /a" command but it asks for a "Company Name" and "CD Key" and wouldn't let me continue. Is there any way to get the SDK to install? I'm very interested in playing with the new WM6 device emulator.
Have you tried decompiling the .msi into the source components?

Sounds like a good idea. Can you give me some clues on how to do that?

.net framework

Hey. I've recently got myself the HTC Touch HD. I know how to install stuff etc, I installed a program which needs a newer version off "Microsoft .NET Compact Framework". I've literally searched the forum up and down and used google, I really cant find it.
How do I get it, and how do I install it? I found something on microsoft's site but its .msi, and I couldn't install it, I got an error. Maybe im missing something.
Help another noob here

.Net Framwork

Hey Guys, iv downloaded a few programs and it says i need .net framework installed, i have downloaded a few, but no idea how to install or even if i have downloaded the correct file
is any one able to send me a link on where to get it.
Thanks
CobbyJ
google is your friend
- first entry
- ".NET Compact Framework 3.5 Redistributable Now Available"
- download and install
Microsoft
Just google search .net framework 3.5 windows mobile. I thinks it's called the "compact redistributable". Take the first link you find that is the microsoft website. Make sure your system is set up with Activesync or WMDC(vista/7) and then run the executable while you phone is connected. The active sync will pop up and install it to your phone then just click ok on your phone and you're done.
There's also .CAB file on this forum!
Thanks got it all working now, but the iplayer i tried kept crashing
thanks anyway guys

.net compact framework 3.5 is not standard installed on a TD2 aka Topaz.
Download it from MSDN Microsoft here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/default.aspx

You should have a Active Sync (Windows XP) connection with your device.
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 you must connect through Windows Mobile Device Center.
Active Sync 4.5 and Windows Mobile Device Center are free for download from Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync-download.mspx
It looks like the framework is being installed on your PC but it will be installed on your phone.
You must have .net compact framework 3.5 from my link above.
ok downloaded every thing you have stated and installed accordingly but im still no further forward if you could add me to msn and help me out id really appreciate it buddy add me : [email protected] thanks alot guys

I`m confused too: my polaris says - .NET 3.5 is already at the ROM but I´ve got a punch of apps which cannot be installed on behalf of lecking "actual .NET-version"????
sucks a lot - could somebody give me a hand instead of HR?
thxs in advance
Download this:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en
and run it on your PC. The idea is that it'll then copy CF3.5 to your device the next time you connect via activesync. If it doesn't do that for some reason then goto C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\SDK\CompactFramework\v3.5\WindowsCE on your PC and copy the file NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab onto your D2. Then using the D2, find that file in File Explorer and click on it, to install it manually.

That link is for the desktop .NET 3.5, not the Compact Framework, which kinda explains why people were having no success with it!
I have isntalled on my PC compact version and same problem ...
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347537. Download the cab file and put in on the sd-card, doubleclick on the file
NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab and install process begin. I hope it works for yoy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529783
If you don't use Activesync, you may want to get just the cab file instead. Just google for NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab, then instal like any other app, to the main memory.
Also, whilst you're about it, google netcfcfg.cab. This app lets you set windows CF policy, so that all apps which need CF2.0 to run will automatically use your newly installed CF3.5, which is apparently better and more stable.
The file sizes should be 2644KB and 34KB respectively.

For what it's worth, the above mentioned netcfcfg.cab .NET config program is part of the CF 3.5 Power Toys, available from MS here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...14-a27d-4148-bf01-86c2e0953eab&displaylang=en

I was never able to get the cab file to work. Every time I ran it on the phone, I got an error saying that the aplication was not installed. When I installed the full msi on my laptop with the TD2 attached it successfuly installed on the phone.
works great. copy NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab, install, soft reset and go for it
do you want to try this

What pc-suite are you trying to install? I only think the HTC-sync is to be installed for the Hero. That is to be found on youre sd-card or downloadable @HTC.
Please tell us more about the 'pc-suite' you are trying to install. Never heard of it. HTC-sync is just a normal .exe that is to be installed as you normally install .exe-files.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh still dont work
i am installing it from the download from the htc site i have tried running ms clean up utility no joy i have also tried it on a blank profile still no joy i need help on this this is doin my head in

(If you later have issues getting the PC to 'see' the Hero, have a look at this)
Duplicate - please ignore / delete depending on level of power!

Sorry. Not so simples then
HTC Sync 2.0.33 which was released yesterday does not solve the problem. Installing vcredist package does not work for me (probably due to presence of newer version). But I found walkaround.
Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86) from Microsoft site (www_microsoft_com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=32BC1BEE-A3F9-4C13-9C99-220B62A191EE&displaylang=en). Note it's x86 version released on 4/10/2006 with no service pack.
Unzip vcredist_x86.exe. There's only one file VCREDI~1.EXE
Unzip VCREDI~1.EXE to %TEMP%/IXP001.TMP/ directory (create one).
Launch HTC Sync install
Im not sure if it's neccessary but i also copied registry branch
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{A49F249F-0C91-497F-86DF-B2585E8E76B7}
to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
