Simple question... is there any known way to prevent the HTC customizations from installing?
Performing a hard reset, then a soft reset before customization takes places - that doesn't work, you just end up back at the customization screens on the next boot.
Thanks!

Hello Everyone,
I have MDA COMPACT on t-mobile, and i have tried to change the themes but i cant change the bizzare T-mobile theme, it comes up in every where with t-mobile
colors. So does someone did this whithout any problems, Please let me know any easy way ....
Thanks
Some programs are install from the EXT-Rom,they can't be removed from control panel.I think you need to modify or "unlock"your EXT-ROM install list with a tool, then try to remove them or do a hard-reset.May be someone has a better idea.
If you are only unsatisfied with your GPRS or network setting, you can just delete the setting in "connection"
The easyiest way to do it is:
- make a full backup
- Hard Reset
- align screen
- soft reset during 3 sec. count down before autoinstall of software included in Extended Rom.
Now U have clean system with full acces to extended rom so U can install all needed software manually (ie. MMS composer, BT patch, camera software).

Hard reset your MDA Compact (power+soft reset). Do all the neccesary steps (choosing your country and timezone) and when you get in the screen that tells you to tap the screen in order to start working, have your stylus at the soft-reset hole tap the screen with your finger and do a soft reset IMMMEDIAELY AFTER YOU TAP THE SCREEN!

I tried installing one theme (transferred files to /windows) and didn't like it then I couldn't get back to my original sprint theme and so I installed another one (cab).
How can I clear all this crap out and just go back to my original factory theme? I shouldn't have messed with this stuff in the first place!
Help would be greatly appreciated!!
hard reset will bring youre phone back to original manilla.
but you will also loose al youre contacts and other apps and tweaks.
That's fine as long as I can get outta this mess!
It won't make me reprogram my phone will it? (i mean program my phone number esn crap?)

for Angelko2k8
Look at this link

Reflash in original HTC firm at:
http://www.htc.com/it/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=133&cat=all
You can use TF3D config or hard reset.
hard reset: Start > Settings > System > clear storage, enter 1234 and it will hard reset your system.
Thanks, I managed to the hard reset via settings control panel.
Someone who is knowledgeable in adding themes and changing TF3D skins should really make a tutorial and have it stickied. It takes way too much time to read and then downloading countless programs that you come to find out you don't even need. It's really a mess. I'm surprised this forum doesn't already have a sticky for that, we have everything else you could ask for.

Its not that hard dude.
All members in the forum went through the testing and failure method.
I myself reseted my device at least 20 times, in the quest for the perfect jewel.
Im guessing you havent flashed ROMS??
Well if you start flashing start getting used to reseting the device very often.
Greetings.

Nah man, haven't flashed my rom yet...I don't even know how to see what rom I have. The funny thing is that I'm not some noob who doesn't know how to do stuff like this, usually I catch onto this stuff easily but with so much info and downloads on this forum it's easy to get confused.
Once I figure out everything hopefully I'll be able to make a thread for others!
I have tried installing a bunch of different programs using both cab and active sync methods and always the installation is unsuccessful. I tried re-installing programs using cabs I used before and they don't work either. What is wrong?
After doing a lot of reading, it appears I am going to have to hard reset.
I am running a custom ROM. If I hard reset, do I have to re-flash the custom ROM?
If I run a backup program, will that re-load all my programs?
A hard reset brings your phone back to the exact way it was either out-of-box or on your most recent flash. It resets your ROM (either custom or stock_ back to it's original state. You will lose all programs (except for OEMs cooked in to the ROM), settings, messages, mail, calendar items, contacts, etc. Make sure you back up the information and cabs you need.
If you are having such a bad conflict, I would recommend not using a back up program to automatically re-do all of your settings. You are most likely going to set yourself up to see the same errors.
Take your time and put the programs and settings back one by one.
Good luck!
Low Memory
You may want to check how much program space you have left on your phone. It may simply be you need to make room but removing an old/unused program. I did the same thing just last week
Hello,
I just hard reset my phone over the weekend and...you are right! now there's nothing on my screen and I don't know how to put it back the way it was.....can you help me please?

It won't go back even after removing it via Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs?
If that doesn't do it, you're going to have to do a hard reset (complete wipe of the phone). Backup everything on your phone! The only things that won't get erased are the things in the SD card.
To do the hard reset: turn off the phone, then press/hold Talk/Send, End, and Power button at the same time until a prompt comes up warning you about a factory reset. Follow the prompt to completely wipe your phone memory.
That will restore everything the way it was when it came from the factory.

I realize that an instance may occur where using the three-button hard-reset is the only option (device won't boot or blank screen), but I wonder if running 'Clear Storage' wouldn't serve the same purpose? Are there any differences in the desired results or are the two methods of resetting a Rhodium identical in this regard?
surely a hard reset is a bit harsh, can't you just install a different tab slider, there must be a stock 2.1 slider floating around somewhere, i'll see if i have one on my Harddrive, you are using stock 2.1 yeh?
One of these two should work for you try each of them as i don't know what build your phones on
To install Go into settings>today-Settings>untick Sense, then install after install retick sense and you should be back on..hope it works for you dude
Thanks very much it has worked after installing the cabs u gave me. Cheerse much appreciated

Thats great news! no need for a HR, glad i could help
I reckon the best paid app i ever got has to be SPB back-up i think its about £20 but well worth it, it doesn't just back-up your PIM(txts, numbers, etc) it backs up everything, i can completely wipe my device and reinstall everything just as it was using this, ive tried there other products but not been that impressed but this i cant live without. Then you can try stuff out without fear of not being able to uninstall!!!

I've recently installed the latest Energy rom on my HD2 but the default keyboard is looking a bit strange, the bottom row of keys seems to have shifted upwards.
Has anyone else experienced this or know how to fix it?
Also, on the second screenshot, I've noticed that the menus have changed but there is no mention in the changelog on the website. Is this normal or have I changed a setting somewhere?
Thanks
hhmm did you hard reset after flashing?? and the menu can be changed in hd2 tweak maybe bsb tweaks also im not sure. its something about using windows menu's i think its system menus in bsb tweaks mate, that should change it

No, I just flashed it and reintroduced my propgrams/backups.

Oh ok, cool! How does it make a difference? I would have thought that a flash was as good as a hard reset, is it not a format/clean install?
Thanks for your help mate.
well it is kind of, just gives the flash a clean base to start the rom up on, just the way it is lol

I beg to disagree & BTW, that doesn't even make sense! The "flash" that you mentioned is already starting off of a "clean base". You DONT need to hard reset after a flash. Flashing in itself is like Hard Resetting.
The problem you are facing could be because of one of 2 things
1) Your backup has registry / program files that are replacing newer files from the rom. If you normally make use of automatic restoration by means of SDConfig.txt or XDA_UC, try not using it this time while Hard Resetting and see if the problem persists. The easiest way to do that is by popping your card out.
2) Occasionaly something goes wrong when chefs are 'baking' their roms, so to speak and they might end up putting out bad roms with problems. This could be a result of that.
i'm on the same problem after HR and updated settingd from XDA_UC.
before was great so this is probably after update.
After a hard reset, I installed all my cabs indiviually and worked out that it was the cab that add extra currency symbols to the main keyboard that was causing this. I'd found it from the Leo Hints & Tips thread. I uninstalled it and is reverted back to normal.
50. Enable All Currency Symbols from Main Keyboard
If you want to input the Euro, Yen or Pound symbol, you have to tap on the '12#' key and then go to page 2. A bit cumbersome. Now you can have access to all of the currency symbols just by pressing and holding the 'f' key and then drag to choose the symbol you want. Install cab below to device main memory only.
