Hi guys,
Do you know how to remove TouchFlow3D completely from the device?
Or in other words, I would want to have my Touch HD with PURE Windows Mobile 6.1 only, without any HTC’s additional programs, services, etc… any kind of trace.
Do you know which pure WM 6.1 services and startup programs are necessary for the system function?
Is there any description manual for every WM 6.1 service and core program - what it does, what happens when you disable or not start it up etc..
Thx a lot
You go to Start>Settings>today there you can untick the TouchFlo3D box and choose between Windows today screen options.
But believe me its really more handy to use the TF3D than the Windows Mobile 6,1!

Hi all,
Currently, SPB Mobile Shell 3 is developping well, a thread is about all tricks is available HERE
But, as you can see, there is still some lack of usefull things... like Album viewer, Music player incorporated... I remarked there were an easy way to go back to the TODAY place...
That's why i am asking you this question:
What program is for the best to run with SPB Mobile Shell 3?
#1 Win 6.5 Titanium, which ROM and why?
#2 Win 6.5 Titanium, using WM 7 project
#3 Win 6.1, new start menu, which rom and why ?
#4 Win 6.1, old start menu, which rom and why?
#5 ROM isn't important, just configure well the today, explain it to us!
#6 SPB Mobile Shell is perfect for me.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but you can't really use the titanium plugin with Mobile Shell 3 since they both take over the today screen so I'm not sure I follow the poll..
Personally I use Mobile Shell with WM6.5 and have mobile shell overwrite start menu.
I still think Manilla2d is better but am still testing out mobile shell for the time being.
I tested SPB MS 3 on my Diamond with:
new Startmenu(Topaz)
TF3D
TodayAgenda on today
TFDetacher
I found it quite good to have all these three things running, but due to the LARGE memory footprint i banned SPB MS.
If there was an option to disable several pages to free up some ram (e.g. favourites carousel is quite redundant and just to show off, not to use), I might get back.
Also the lack of the former lock screen (Password lock overlay) was quite frustrating.
Good evening!
I am currently using a iGO8 navigation system on my HTC Diamond and often get crashes because of the lack of enough memory. So I thought of the following solution:
Wouldn't it be possible to create a multiboot menu which shows up when booting the Diamond, just before the Explorer.exe loads, which lets me choose between booting the normal Windows Mobile GUI or the iGO application (or whatever application I want to)?
I think iGO won't need Windows Mobile to run as it runs on PNA's which are basically just Windows CE systems, and those don't run any Explorer application unless you force them to do so.
I think this can be made possible by changing the INIT entry for Explorer.exe to any other application (the menu) in the registry.
Would that be possible?

the PNA/ gps menu its an application for Windows CE. it loads after windows ce has been loaded. It goes in full screen, without an exit button. so basicaly when the gps menu is loaded all other necesary wince files are loaded (except maybe explorer.exe, witch can load in 1sec with taskman command.). Also wince loading takes about 5 seconds and win6.1 about 1min. As i know win6.1 does not have explorer.exe. insteed i think is nk.exe witch is the os. so without os igo wont work.
Isn't there any way we can skip the Windows Mobile GUI and directly start iGO?
Also, I don't think all neccessary files are loaded AFTER iGO was started. I think they are loaded before as the last INIT entry is the navigation software.
I don't know if Windows CE has some kind of regsvr32.exe or something similar.

I don't think it's possible. But I do know a solution - you should find a ROM with maximum RAM available to user.
I have one (Gen.Y) but I just install to much stuff onto my diamond and therefore the free memory is smashed

I think that you are confusing ROM (storage memory) & RAM (program memory). Program memory is what you need for flawless iGo performance. Try, for example, latest official HTC ROM, it should be better for RAM than most of the cooked ROMs.
I know the difference
It's just that I am running too much applications in the background (WisBar Advance, TouchResponse, Palringo and what not all) so that the free RAM is just smashed
Well, I guess I have to clean up a bit.
Thanks anyway

In that case, I have a definitive solution - you should by Raphael, like me. I'm able to run at the same time Garmin, iGo, Opera Mini, Opera Mobile, DotFred TaskMgr and much much more, and have absolutely no problems.
Hi there,
I'm thinking of buying HD2 but I'm a bit worried about how deep the HTC Sense/TouchFlo goes.
1. Today screen - since Sense is just a Today plugin it can be turned off, but
2. How about the non-skinned, standard Messaging/Contacts/Calendar application? Are they in the ROM? Are the HTC modifications just some addon or they completely changed the standard ones (like tmail.exe). Is the standard interface of these apps in any way accessible?
U can use classic Windows look - install plugins on desktop, use standard mail etc... Its implemented in WM, sense is only system upgrade... In Menu is folder Outlook with shortcuts to classic mail,calendar...
Hi,
is there a way on Windows Mobile 6.5, 6.5.x and WMD, to map the windows logo button (not the hardware key of a device) to another program than honeycomb start nenu??? I have a little program that is named "Folderview" (it seems to be from HTC) that will show up the start menu with big icons like there it is in Windows Mobile 6.x Smartphone Edition.
The background for my question is that i own a PDA E-Ten Glofiish M800 that has only 64 megs of RAM (total free ram after strat is only around 20 megs with honeycomb) and that's too small for using GPS functions with navigation software like igo 8. I tried the tool "Quickmenu" but i don't like it because i do not want to have a start menu like in verisons of Windows Mobile prior 6.5.
Thanks

Hi guys, this is my first post her on xda-developers, so go easy
I am developing for HTC HD2 windows mobile 6.5 phone, all is going well execpt the fact phone seems to have a different SIP (keyboard) than the default windows one. The HTC one takes up more screen in my application so I would like to get the windows one back. I have tried changing themes, etc but I cant get rid of the HTC one.
Any ideas ?
Thanks.
i tried a lot to make it possible to use the keyboard from wm6. there are some fragments in the reg. but it was not possible for me to activate it.
Hmm, this seems strange as I have an application on my HD2 which is used to configure my BT printer and it has exactly the same keyboard as WM6 so it must be possible.
