Another NEwb question.....Music file - best way of loading up - Touch HD General

Scared of getting a proper flaming at mo - but really new to HTC !!
Whats the best way to load your music onto SD card ?
What I mean is - should you just have a folder with the folder art and music alone ?
All my music is tagged and has covertags that work fine on my IPOD Touch...
Does the touchflo music player allow you to have albums all arranged like the IPOD touch ? Maybe me being a total idiot - but when i scroll through them - I am scrolling through individual tracks (where I want to flick through the albums !!!)
Cheers in advance

Question for the sofware Gurus re Media Players

Hi Folks, you are going to have to bear with a non-programmer, my question is with regard to album art and scrolling on WM. there are loads of threads on xda trying to emmulate the 'Apple' style scrolling media selector.
As most players do the same thing, (ie play music and video) creaing the scroll would seem to be a seperate issue. is there a plugin that allows thumnails to be visible on WM and combine this with touch control to allow the existing player to select and play the track/album/video?
this would give the element of selecting via the pics without the need to create a completely new player?
cheers for looking and would hope one of you folks could run with this idea
Chris
I agree completely. I just don't want a new player - wmp is fine for me and works well with Voice Command. I like the way it does album art and I think it syncs well with the desktop.
What we need is just something to launch the album or track in media player. The Library option in wmp needs fingers that are much smaller than mine!
The iContact application was perfect - a good scroller to find what you want and then go to the normal app.
Ideally it should look a bit like audio manager or the iphone-style.
Any programmers want to take this on?
temporary solution...
well i'm not a developper... me too I agree that windows media player is an excellent software as it also plays videos and mp4's which are also part of my music album... I've done a few things to make it seem like an iphone and more practical:
1. downloaded PlaylistMgr 0.6.2.1 (freeware), use it to create a playlist or edit it on my ppc. And i use the playlist as a shortcut on my today screen (i have spb4), this way it launches the play list directly and not have to select my music everytime. This includes all my music and videos
2. iphone skin for wmp from http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/media/wmp/wmpppc/?order=9&alltime=yes
3. I didnt know how to increase the playlist font, because i agree its too small so i increased the system font. Now most fonts (not all) are bigger, which has some advantages and disadvantages in other software (I used tweaks for that)
4. Use ftouchflo which allows me to scroll in the playlist
if any ideas let me know

Yeah, I did the same, create playlists for my music, and use righttoleft launch with ftouchflo to open the folder that holds them.
Never liked working with libraries.
Can someone elaborate how to create a playlist? I use WMedia and organize my music and I created a play list on the desktop and copied it onto my storage card under the folder 'My playlists' but it doesn't appear on the phone when I update it. Is there a way to create a playlist on the stock wing?
i have just purchased a HTC p6300 (xda Argon) all in all a so-so device but has got a bit of software in it that works well as a media selector - HTC Audio manager, allows you to select albums by file and works well with touch flo. only problem is that i dont know how to find the route files to copy and extract.. has anyone else seen or tried this? and if so does anyone have the cab? would really like this for my Wizard as well as this seems to be one of the best/easiest media selectors i have seen

TF3D Music Player- Help its killing me!!!!!!!

I am having a nightmare with this hunk of brown steaming excretia!!!!! Firstly you have to load songs through Media player-WHY!!!!! What was wrong with dragging and dropping it onto the memory card like I used to do with my Touch.
Second Having waited whilst windows makes me grow older loading toons on the card, having play ok for a week, its just decided it will only play the first 2 seconds of a song any song then lock up!!! It lets me see all my songs, artists, albums, artwork, everything but the bl00dy tease wont let me play em. Worst of all the windows media player on the phone plays it all fine!!!!
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you can drag and drop the files
thats the way i do it and i usually play via tf3d , but iv never had a problem of the music stopping
Do you keep your mp3s in a particular file on the sd card and do you "treat" them in any way album art tag edit etc? Cheers for the answer, this is driving me mad!
I drag and drop directly into the storage card. I avoid WMP when possible - it seems to take forever.
The only problem with drag and drop approach is that sometimes TF3D does not seem to see the update. So, you might have to stop TF3D and restart it - this forces the music player to rescann available files.
How do you stop Tf3d, and how long does your HD take to update the list when you restart it?
even though i use tf3d when i start the music player i always go in library option then choose my music through that
I created a folder on my SD called Music and dragged albums to it. Play them via TF3D and point the library at the SD. It scans the entire card to find the music. then lists them. Only problem I had is when I removed some music from the SD and they still appeared in the TF3D.Resolved it by finding the library file, deleting it and then rescanning card........
Don't bother with the WMP
quick questions for the pro here.... how can i have only one folder showing off my storage card. for example i hate having it scan all of the card, and having ringtones mixed in there.... i wish i could have music and ring tones separate how ever only full songs on the player

This is not something I do often but in the settings, personal, today you can deselect TF3D and then reselect it.
It seems that TF3D does not have a special "scan" button so the best way is to stop and restart TF3D. I have also Pocket Tunes and Pocket Player - both have scan options. But, I generally use TF3D.

Been looking for a way around this myself and I'm still yet to find anything. All my ringtones & music files all appear together which is annoying
Cheers to all the guys who answered the original question
Stopped using media player, wow what a relief.
Got a new problem now though After spending a night finding and adding album art, I loaded the mp3s, stopped and started TF3D, cool it saw the mp3s fine. Not so cool, it has "stuck on one of the album pics and wont move!!! the song changes, the title changes but the picture stays the same!!!
marmin you are not alone. I have the same problems with tf3d player and its almost killing me.
my k800i was perfect in this disciplin.
1.
I copied all my mp3s on my sd card (no activesync). I have 4 songs with different integrated covers and my player shows all the time the same cover.
2.
The other frustrating thing is the thing with ringtones. Somebody already mention it. I just want to say tf3D: "hey only scan this folder. the rest is none of your business. nothing else." but it scans all the time my whole device including ringtones.
Here is the file I deleted prior to a rescan (as mentioned in my previous post) .......
My Device\Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng
although you could just rename it so you can change it back again if a problem arises.....
When I scanned afterward it recreated the entire music database from my SD including the assoication for image files to their respective albums.

i haven't tried this idea, but I think it would certainly be worth investigating (I'd check it for you guys but a bit busy till the weekend arrives). But for those that know how to edit the registry (really simple), try and add a new key to the respective TF3D music player folder called "Ignore". In the new key, add a 'string value' for your descritption (name of folder would do nicely). More importantly, set the "Data" to the full path of the folder to be ignored (something like "Storage Card\Ringtones"). I think this might work as it works with the TF3D album (forces it to ignore the folders which you tell it to and all its sub-folders). Please let me know if you try this and if it works or not (if no one tries it I'll try to give it a go over the weekend)
Good Luck (and hope it works)
Album art in the TF3D music player.
I am having those issues too. My problems started when I embedded the art into the MP3's. It not only hangs on the art, it also will only play about 2- seconds of the song before stopping. I can play the songs fine with the Windows media player though, so I had to put it on the programs tab so I could get to it easy.
Anothr thing about the HTC player, is it doesn't seem to go into sub folders very well, where the Windows player does. But like you said, it picks up on EVERYTHING, and that's extremely annoying.
Thought I'd give a shout out to S2P, a great freeware music player, which some of you will know of but other's might not:

As others have said, Nitrogen and Pocket Player are also great players

HTC Music Player

Hey guys, new TMOUS HD2 user here but been with xda for a while
Couple questions concerning the built in sense music player/audio manager that I couldnt seem to find answers for...
1) Is there a way to get it to ignore certain folders containing music that I dont want added to my library?
2) Is there some kind of tweak that allows faster accessing of songs in your library? maybe at least an alphabetic scroll? (currently to navigate to a song, you have to kinetically scroll all the way to your song and this is a huge nuisance if you have a larger music library and, for example, are looking for a song/artist/album starting with Z)
3) Why does the music player always stop whenever the camera is activated? is there some kind of reg edit so that this doesnt happen??
I realize that there are other music players out there but i'd really like to get this one working properly especially considering what a nice piece of eye candy it is on sense

HTC Sense Music Player

Hey Everybody
So is it just me or does anyone else notice some very basic flaws in HTC's sense music player? Surely there must be a solution or two for these nuisances:

let me say first I really like the "promised" capabilities of this phone bt the actual pratice is getting to me.
the Sense music player is actually going on to the internet BEFORE it loads your songs. This is why you have a long delay (especially if you have over 5gigs of music like me). It is looking for data (album art, names, song titles etc.). You will ususally get an Audiomanager .eng.exe error. I found this out yesterday. i did not believe it at first, but was told to go to settings and turn the option to "flight mode" or just cut the data connections in general.
2 minutes later a prompt came up saying that there was no data connectivity for the audio player. Try it yourself if you like. I am asking around now for a fix or tweak to stop this from happening. If I find one I will get back to you. Believe me I know your pain

Anyone knows how to do this?
Here is what I have done to get the music player to load faster. Go to the windows folder...look for audiomanager.exe copy the file and paste it in the startup folder. I have over 5GB of music...easily over 1,000 songs and it maybe lags 20 second and then i am ready to rock...literally. Try this it should help!

Use Total Commander to navigate to the folder in question (you'll probably want to start with "/Storage Card/program files"), and then long-press on the folder to bring up the options...click the box for "hidden". Each folder you do that for will then be skipped when the music player indexes, but you can still see/access the folders like normal.
EDIT: Toreone's tip IS a great way to speed up indexing on larger music libraries...the cab below does the exact same thing he was describing

Thanks but I've already set the folders (and the files) to be hidden and the files are still appearing...

Two questions on Music Player and HTC Album

I've been proud HD2 owner for about some time now and worked around it long enough to start asking questions ...
Anyway, I will start with only two involving Music Player and HTC Album (on home tabs).
1. Music Player: when scrolled via HomeTabs slider when on Music, player has read all of the audio files and I would like to get it to read only certain folders - how to do this? I know there may be only the way to exclude folders from being recognized as storing audio which is fine by me - just need to know how to set that up - so if anyone can assist in this I would appreciate much!!!
2. HTC Album - this one is not as urgent as it may be ROM bug: I keep taking pictures with my phone of course and HTC Album when accessed via Home Tabs Slider it shows 1/99, 5/99, etc - whichever pic I have on - it won't show more than 99 and I know Ihave over 180 pictures. How can I fix this so the Album reads correct number of pictures I have?
Thanks all for all the help!
bump.. any1?
not sure about the album bit mate, but as far as music goes i have a few games that have music and got into my player, so i used total commander to make the files i didnt want to appear hidden, hope this helps,
The Album Tab just cant show more than 99 Pics. In order to see more you need to go into album view. Theres no workaround for this, its simply a memory-saving-feature not to show all 1000 Pictures directly in the Tab.
sounds good...
Album is good to go - 99 pics don't bother me... Now music player - I still wonder how to do it - I do have Total Commander.
