Yes I read the "Read this before new posting" and the "Bricked thread and think tank". Am posting anyway <3
First off I have been on forums and sites the past 3 or 4 days trying everything I can get my eyes on. The phone boots up to the T-mobile G1 black screen but wont go anywhere past that. It won't respond to recovery mode (home + power), or SPL boot (camera + power). It WILL get into the "blue LED" mode which no one seems to know what is for yet. I have recharged the phone (Some roms / recoveries say not to start if you don't have at least half battery).
I've recently been playing with my g1, trying to root (which was successful), and trying to update the spl / ROM. I had a good donut Dev ROM which was nice. When I should've just stopped there and left well enough alone I proceeded to try and work an eclair ROM onto the phone, which is where i got owned.
This was the Dev ROM I had previously working after rooting:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538456
**HTC ADP 1.6 DRC83 Rooted->Base Version
I was working with cannon202's complete eclair for the g1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690709
And at that point was working Danger SPL onto the phone via this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548924
Towards the bottom under the subsection "Flash the New RADIO and SPL", were the directions i was following, Using what I know to be nandroid and the spl.zip I did a "update from zip"(or something close to that) from the nandroid menu. It applied the zip successfully and I rebooted the phone, which is where all of this started and where I am at now.
Yes, its a PVT board, I checked that before I continued to flash with Danger SPL.
I have tried SDK (fastboot and adb) and nothing finds the phone plugged in via usb to windows 7 or XP. The phone will not boot into "Fastboot" mode either (back button + power). As stated above the phone will not boot into recovery or SPL / RGB mode either. Any ideas at all here guys or is this g1 simply a paperweight? I have retraced my steps with you as accurately as I can remember through my frustration lol. Let me know any way you need if you have any ideas, suggestions, or questions!
I've had HTC phones for the past 4 years starting with the Windows mobile Wing, dash, and g1. I have a Behold 2 on the way and my brother has had the moment, hero, and currently evo. We've been playing with these types of phones for quite a while and aren't completely new to rom'ing / rooting, or computers but are both stumped!
**I'm Adding this here, and possibly another thread just to not be one of those "HELP I BRICKEDED MAI PHON" guys. Plus I saw the "Dev's / admin's move bricked posts here" :\
Looks like you followed very old, outdated instructions. It's bricked. The only thing you can do is JTAG it or sell it for parts.

So that you don't HALF-FLASH your radio and run out of battery in a condition where you can't possibly boot.

You really ARE living in a hole, aren't you?
1) PVT/DVT makes ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE!
2) DeathSPL is ***NEVER*** required. It doesn't help. There are MUCH better ways of repartitioning than to introduce incompatibility.
What I am saying is this: You have ABSOLUTELY FAILED to read.

Take phone apart.
Hook up JTAG.
Enter blue light mode.
Enter commands on jtag and serial console to softload a compatible SPL in fastboot mode.
Fastboot flash SPL to one that IS COMPATIBLE.

The procedure to flash an SPL sets the misc partition command field to "boot-recovery". The combination of 1.x radio and 1.33.2005 SPL makes it impossible to boot any known linux kernel. Linux kernel must boot to clear "boot-recovery". When in "boot-recovery" it tries to go to recovery mode and ignores any/all other boot time signals (like the button to enter fastboot)..... BRICKED.

lbcoder,
You certainly are one of the friendliest folks around here.
The original poster - and I too as well - may have followed the cyanogenmod wiki instructions which are even more recent than your posting
h t t p : //wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Vision:_Radio_and_CyanogenMod
where we are still ( July 2011 ) are told to use the Danger SPL file.
Perhaps if you have such knowledge and energy you might correct the wiki so that future folks don't find themselves in a such a pickle as well.
Thank you,
Chris

Hi All,
For the past few months I've been running a DFT NAND build of Android. Yesterday, the phone was running extremely slowly with some odd behavior in the Android menus. When I restarted the phone, loading got as far as the DFT splash screen but then nothing else would happen.
I have since used MAGLDR (1.11) to attempt to boot a fresh Android image from SD card but this hasn't worked. Have managed to use the USB Loader to attempt to flash another NAND build (both Android and WP7) but even though the download process completed, this still didn't work and am stuck in MAGLDR now.
Have read through the forums here and have tried most (if not all) of the suggestions, however nothing seems to be working.
Can anyone offer anymore advice?
Thanks,
Kev
As MAGLDR gets removed if you flash a stock winmo rom I suggest you to try that!
Before you install the winmo rom you can also use Task29 to completely wipe the nand.
good luck
Thanks,
I shall give that a try this evening.
Kev
Unfortunately none of the suggestions have worked. I'm unable to flash a stock WM6.5 ROM as the RUU doesn't detect the phone.
The device does show up in Windows as a Microsoft USB Sync device, however.
Task 29 does not work either due to the same problem.
I've attempted to flash a new Android ROM release but when the phone reboots, it gets stuck on the green HTC logo screen and won't proceed any further.
I don't seem to be able to get MAGLDR 1.13 on the phone either, as DAF.exe complains about some "Config load failed" error.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Kev
*sigh*
you need to read up on "how to flash stock rom from sd card". no need for RUU i believe; sd card method involves copying a file extracted from the stock RUU and placing it in the root of your sd card and letting bootloader detect and flash the file. search for a tutorial or see the stickies.
once you've done that, make a special note about the part that says you need to boot into bootloader (hold down volume down + turn on phone + keep holding volume down until a 4-color screen appears). i suspect you are not doing this step, this is why windows, mtty, etc are unable to detect the device.
if you have already done the above, ignore my post
*sigh* too.
I've already tried flashing from the SD card but I have the same problem. I get to a green HTC loading screen and nothing else happens. I just get stuck in a reboot to MAGLDR and try again loop.
I've read through plenty of posts on flashing custom ROM's and troubleshooting but nothing has helped.
I don't get a 4 colour screen when holding down VOL-DOWN and the power button, the phone just goes into MAGLDR.
Kev
Just to add to that, Windows DOES detect the device but the RUU doesn't. Only the DAF applications find and can talk to the device.
follow me
1. is the battery have enough jiuce? what HSPL you use? hope its HSPL3 2.08HSPL
2. bootloader . . . .
Thanks for your post.
Plenty of juice in the battery.
I believe it is HSPL 2.08 (well, whichever allowed me to get Android on the thing in the first place)
Bootloader what?
Kev
getting into boot loader (4-color screen) is the key to the whole flash with sd card method.
keep trying. read on how to enter bootloader.
i can remember a few ways.
DEVICE IS ON
1. if phone is already on, hold down volume down (keep it pressed HARD)...don't let go of it!
2. push the little reset button under the battery cover. don't let go of the volume down button!
3. don't let go of the volume down button until the 4-color screen appears.
DEVICE IS OFF
1. remove the battery. reinsert it after a few seconds.
2. hold down volume down (keep it pressed HARD)...don't let go of it!
3. tap the end call button and don't let go of the volume down button until the 4-color screen appears.
remember, entering bootloader is the key.
EDIT: it is better to ensure you have sufficient battery. however, flashing via bootloader SKIPS the battery level checks.

in post 4 you noted you tried task 29 but was successful
you are not even familiar with bootloader, ??? makes me wonder
I'm very familiar with a bootloader, your "bootloader..." comment confused me.
Task 29 was unsuccessful. I've read in a number of posts that you can use Task 29 and start from scratch back at the original bootloader (rather than MAGLDR) but this obviously isn't the case.
Holding down the VOL-DOWN key does nothing other than get me to MAGLDR, which is what happens even if I don't hold any keys down.
I fully understand that the key is entering the bootloader, nothing seems to let me get there.

you got a bricked device,
you might get some help if you post your querry in the

I'm of the same opinion; it is virtually bricked.
The stupid thing is that if I select Android Flasher from MAGLDR, I'm able to flash a different version of Android to NAND but it just won't boot.
Will try a different forum.
Thanks,

Before I start I googled and tried methods I could and all failed.
My phone was working Link Hereperfect with no issues I had installed the DFT LEO Stock Desire NAND Rom.
A week ago it died and I charged it and powered it back up and got the white screen. It wouldnt go away until I pushed the yellow button on the back. Problem solve I would think.
Two days ago on my way to San Francisco it restarted and turned white. I tried all methods I found here and google none work. when I hold the down vol button I do get the 3 color screen and thats it. I attached an picture of what my phone says.

Do you post these nice explanations to inform us that stopping a device by removing suddenly its power supply is not good?
Then ok, thanks. Ask for a sticky.
@crx4xharder
If you're boy's phone can only boot in the first level loader... I think a week-end if long enough to make extensive trouble shooting
Ok, I agree I'm not nice... it's just to make you realize that if you want to ask someting... then ask, no need to make us imagine the question you may want someone to answer.
My question is how do I get this fixed? How do I get android back up and running. I want to get rid of this white screen.

What was the version of MAGLDR you had anyway? The ROM you are/were running is outdated by today's standards anyway.
I would do a task29 and start over. Then flash MAGLDR 1.3, CWM 1.3 and then a new ROM.

If you get bootloader simply flash a stock WM rom or MAGLDR, whats hard about that?
i tried flashing with task29 but it sticks at 0%
Do not use task29 for your problem. Fortunatly it doesn't "clear" the first level bootloader.
Press the vol-down key.
In boot loader, flash:
a/ a WM6 ROM (to do this you can just put a LEOIMG.nhh on the root of your SD)
b/ MAGLDR (the version you need for the build you want)
If you want to put a DFT build. In MAGLDR (so press "end call" and start the phone... keep end call pressed) choose the option "USB flasher" (something like this.
With DFT (in admin) flash:
a/ a DFT build
b/ CWM
If CWM, boot in MAGLDR, choose "AD Recovery" (for CWM 1.13)
In CWM choose the option to flash a zip build.
That's all... good question, good answer.
All what I said if well expained in diffferent sticky. You will find there a lot of step-by-step or video explanations.
Hope this helps.
He doesn't need to clear the first-level bootloader. You can see from his screenshots that he gets into the bootloader just fine. Task29 will format the NAND storage just as flashing a WinMo ROM does. The RUU does a task29 as part of the flashing process anyway. Doing just a task29 saves the time of flashing the ROM.
Either way, you don't "flash" task29. You run the command via mtty. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you're saying when you "flash" task29 and it stayed at 0%.
What was the meaning of my "Fortunatly"
Clear the first level... brick the phone.
So for you task29 is equivalent to flashing a WM?
With or without radio?
(real question, I really don't know exactly what it's doing...)
I know that it "cleans" the NAND but it's not enough for me.
Anyway, I realize it will be better for me to read the dedicated thread or search on google.
For him I keep my advice to do all (task29, full flash from the beggining including WM). It's useless normally but as he has a problem...

I saw a few people asking on how to install WP7 on their HD2 and thought I will try to help out by giving a short guide with links for those that struggle to find all the different information. Please make sure that you read the installation instructions for the ROM you wish to install as this does not replace those...its ONLY meant to help those looking for information. Also read the information in each link posted for each step. Please feel free to add any corrections, installation tips etc into this thread.
CREDITS
I would like to mention that everything you read in this post is just gathering of information from other threads and that the credit is not due to me BUT to those people that put in a lot of effort to make all this possible to us. When you thank people...thank those in the threads listed below as they are the ones deserving the credit. Also thanks to XDA for making all this possible to us the community and for running well organized forums...your efforts are appreciated.
WARNING
· When installing WP7 your SD Card will be formatted during the installation process. Please make sure that you have made a backup of your SD Card prior to installing.
· When installing WP7 your phones warranty will no longer be valid.
· Please know there is a risk of bricking your phone...however the risk is very slim, but its there.
Steps of installation
1) Install HSPL2
2) Install Radio (2.14.40.04)
3) Install MagLDR (Ver 1.12 or Ver 1.13)
4) Install WP7 ROM
5) Install Zune
6) Install WP7 SDK
7) Install XAP's
8) Video
9) Additional Information
10) Trouble Shooting
Step 1 – Install HSPL2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
To check your HSPL version hold the volume down button...press the power button (red phone button at bottom left) till phone reboots.
· You need HSPL2.08 or higher
If you have to downgrade your SPL version in order to get to HSPL2.08 have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898128 and at the bottom you will see a post explaining a bit more with this link to ROM's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283
Step 2 – Install Radio
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
Make sure you read up on the radio's and that the radio you select will work on your phone. Example...don't use a USA radio (1024 ROM) for a 512 (ROM).
· Get Radio (I used Leo_RADIO_2.14.50.02)
· Reboot Phone – press volume down button to enter boot loader
· Run CustomRUU (From Radio folder on PC)
· Follow instructions on PC screen
· You will notice on phone and PC that its installing
Step 3 – Install MagLDR
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
· You need MagLDR 1.12 or higher
· Reboot Phone – press volume down button to enter boot loader
· Run ROMUpdateUtility (From MagLDR folder on PC)
· Follow instructions on PC screen
· You will notice on phone and PC that its installing (It might wait a bit on 96% but don’t worry about that its normal)
· Boot into MagLDR by holding power button down
Step 4 - Install WP7 ROM
I would recommend to install one of the ROM’s that has already unlocked your phone as it will ease your process. Choose a ROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=977
You need installed MAGLDR 1.12 or higher (Done in Step 3)
· Enter MAGLDR loader by pressing and holding the "Power button" if you aren’t already in it (End of Step 3).
· Choose point 5 - "USB Flasher" then press Green button
· Run DWI.exe (Vista/ W7 user should do that with administrator rights)
· Done, you have WP7 ROM on your device
Step 5 – Install Zune
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/B/4/5B41E996-7CC5-400B-802C-69FBB3B492EF/ZunePackage47.exe
Step 6 – Install WP7 SDK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920275
For installing the WP7 SDK on XP Scroll down to Basingwas post…its the 5th one in that thread…it worked for me on XP.
Step 7 – Install XAP’s
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860964
and a list of some Xap files here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920845
Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nac3Fnf-lY4
Watch this video if you are unsure what to do. Also the video doesn’t cover step 1 above which is needed. (HSPL2.08)
Additional Information
· Not all SD cards work well with WP7 and if you run into weird problem it might be that your SD card is not fully compatible with WP7. Try replacing it and see if it helps. It might be useful to read the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914780
· Please make sure you read the HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A thread by mskip as a lot of valuable information is available in the links he provided.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=987
Trouble Shooting
After step 3, my phone is stuck on HTC logo, I cannot go into MALGDR at all
· Make sure that HSPL2.08 is flashed or HSPL3 with 2.08 flashed
· Make sure you have the correct Radio installed by flashing the Radio again.
When Running DWI.exe it says error, USB Failed.
Try running as Administrator and read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914026

Yes its a good thread, already sent a couple of newies there.
Thanks...I just thought seeing that so many people helped out with information I could give a bit back by trying to help others with some of the information consolidated in one place helping others.
Does radio 2.12.xx etc support 576RAM? Since this radio is somewhat best for battery life and reception in the UK i've heard?
Yes, I have used the 2.12.xx Radio as well and it should work fine.
Also after step 3, my phone is stuck on HTC logo, I cannot go into MALGDR at all :\?
Any help?
Try pulling out our USB cable and see if it gets past it. If not try reflashing Magldr...but USB cable still plugged in might stop you at the HTC screen while booting the phone...happened with me once. Let me know...
Still not working :\, I reflashed MAGLDR but it still stuck on HTC logo with white background. I tried removing usb etc as well. !!
Which Magldr did you use...and maybe try another radio. I used the 2.15 radio on installaton and after that flashed the 2.12 and then 2.14. Maybe see what happens if you use the 2.15 radio and flash magldr again after that.
Quick question...did you boot into Magldr by holding the power button down and keeping it in when powering up? Meaning...does that part work to get you into Magldr...
I could't get into MAGDLR at all. After it finishes flashing it gets stuck on HTC Logo. I took battery out waited 30 seconds, then tried going into MAGLDR but it goes straight into HTC Logo.
So far i've reflashed 2.15.xx, then flashed ROMUltility.exe etc and its still stuck on HTC Logo? Have I bricked my phone :O???
I used MAGLDR 1.13, the weird thing is that when I flash, it goes straight to 100% really quick, instead of getting stuck at 96% that you mentioned.
Please help me out xP

Call microsoft and ask them you need to activate your new windows phone, if they
ask you how you got it tell them you bought it off craigslist or ebay.
Dear all HD2 professional,
I got a problem with my HD2 after flashing with a MAGDLR113, it has successful message on my pc, but when my phone restart it always stuck on htc logo.
i search with many forum in xda and try, but still not luck.
My problem is it stuck with htc logo when phone is open. although I try to hard reset (hold vol down + up + power) or (hold down + power), and connect to PC, it do nothing, it still at htc logo.
Now, I don't know what I'm going to do next?
please anyone give me an advice to fix it?
thanks,
dane
You probably didn't set correct radio or spl,, magldr wont boot without 2.08.hspl AND radio 2.07.50 - 2.15.50,,,
Get them both right, magldr will start
thanks samsamuel,
But
Could you tell me how to set radio or spl... or give me a link to do that?
Because I was stuck on htc screen, I can't get out from it.
thanks again,
You already set the spl, that's how you flashed magldr.
Enter bootloader, connect USB, flash the radio, magldr will now start.
here,read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11097380
A few wrong / confusing / potentially dangerous (to tmous) steps listed in that thread. A good read with good links, but use it to help understand the process, not as a definitive guide.
(Example, it says if you have spl 3.03.0000 you should flash a stock rom to give spl 1.42.0000,,,,,, this step would brick a tmous,, when all you needed to do was use Hspl4 to set either 2.08.hspl,, or if the warning about not using Hspl4 scares you, use Hspl4 to set any spl, and then use hspl3 to set 2.08.hspl)
As with all threads, take the info on board, then confirm what you learned by reading other threads.
Many threads are slightly out of date, and so although the info is useful, its not always the easiest / best.
I think you need to root your phone. search on addictive tips.com, you will find step by step tutorial on how to root your phone and install android
Thanks guy,
But i still can't Enter to bootloader.
it should hold voldown + power, it still in htc logo and I didn't see any else even I try again and again. what problem with that or my phone got another problem?
