Phone problems - Weird icon, "No Service" - defaults to phone off after reset...
So...
I picked up a Sprint mogul on Ebay.
It was cheap, stuck in bootloader mode... and easy to get out of that.
I wanted to flash it to MetroPCS - and started doing things to it...
Flashing roms, upgrading radios, putting a different PRL on it, etc...
And somewhere along the way, the phone started not working.
Windows boots up, bootloader works fine, WiFi is cool...
But the phone will not get a signal - even when I change the PRL back to sprint, flash a new rom (Even Altel's latest), etc...
Nothing.
Any ideas?

I had the same problem when i was doing a metro switch over with my mogul, ended up having to get another one. I have a friend that has been messing with the moguls since they came out and he couldnt get it to get the signal back. when you turn it on does it start in air plane mode? and does it give you a message "the phone is off tunr it on?" but you still get no signal? thats what mines was doing. scrap it. its bricked. use it for parts

Yeah - that's exactly what it's doing.
I kinda gave up on it - got a 6700 that just... works.
This one has the hardware button problem too (something software based, no hardware buttons work for some reason...)
Apparently there's no fix for that either...
Despite it being a software issue.
The hardware buttons work for hard resets and loading bootloader mode, so it's not a hardware problem.
This issue was there when I first got the thing.
The phone problem started with flashing a non-stock rom.
:-/
Oh well.
Thanks for the reply!

Help: I done a master reset on cingular 8125 now it stuck on Start Screen

Hi, i just done a master reset on my cingular 8125, and now i can't do anything to the phone. everytime i put the battery in it can only go to the first screen. which is the screen with IPL, SPl, GSM, and OS.
Does anyone have a solution? I have this phone for over 6 months, I done an unlock to use with T-mobile, but i didn't do the unlock to update.
same thing is happening to me.
download the t-mobile 2.26.10.2 rom from their site and force bootloader mode [turn off, hold power and camera, and connect to USB and run the updater.
when i do this, it doesnt write the ROM image...
i have flashed like... 7 times in the past hour...
Don't know if this will help you, but the same thing happened on my 8125 after pasting a "power off" program to my windows/start up folder. Hold the Comm and Voice record buttons (on top sides of device), and at the same time use your stylus to soft reset (small hole below Ir port), a message should come up telling you to send to set back to factory settings. Push the green phone button to send. This is like a hard rest without entering the hard rest code 1234. This should get the device operating normal again. You will have to re-install apps that you had in the main memory, since your device will be new again. Give this a try. May I ask why you had to do a hard reset?
Cingular 8125

That means there is a hardware issue with the phone.
took it to cingular they said software
Meaning -- not covered under their warranty exchange?? Just curious as to whether you got a replacement phone. . .

You may need to do this a few times. It should work as it's the ONLY way.

If they say its software, then tell them to flash the Cingular ROM on it. If it works, thank them and you have a working phone. If it doesn't they should replace it. DO a search for this error here (and with Google) but I seem to recall others getting this found their phone had a memory (hardware) problem where the flash just won't take.
You might have better luck talking to a Cingular Tech online. I've called a copule of times with issues with my phone and they are always like "We'll authorize a replacement and send it out tomorrow". I've stopped them each time as I know the isue I'm calling about isn't hardware (one time it was for the 160x120 MMS pics). Over the phone they can only debug so far so they are quicker to do a replacement.
Not sure thats what you want to do, but its an option...
You might also try flashing the Wizard Love or Button Roms on it. Those will sometimes flash when others won't (if you do the Button ROM you will have to CID unlock again though) (we are talking a G3 here, right?)
Links for those are in this thread (as well as instrucitons):

MDA meets its end?

Today while riding in my car I was texting my friends. Then my phone froze up (not the first time), so I nonchalantly hit the soft reset button and waited. Except my phone never booted up, it froze on the WINDOWS MOBILE 6.0 screen, and has been there the rest of the day. I was running the TNT1437 Touch ROM on my MDA at the time, I do not know whether this was a hardware or software problem. Please repost with any advice or diagnosis you may have.
Try out Hard Reset, although, you'll loose all of your settings and personal data, but it might start to work, otherwise, get into Bootloaders (multicolor screen) and flash a new rom.It might be corruption of system files or Extended_Rom.Check the battery status,it must be fully charged.
Thats what I was planning on doing (flashing a new ROM), but i could not get activesync to make a connection because my phone will never fully boot up. How do you do a hard reset. And how do you enter bootloaders?
to enter bootloader you have to turn your phone off...them keep the connections button camera button and dialogue button and reset the device with the stylus...(both side bottons and camera)
Thanks for the help guys! I put it in bootloader and flashed a new ROM and now it works fine. I found this article that helped me, hopefully it will help anyother of you witht he same problem!
"When upgrading the ROM on the HTC Wizard, there is always a slight chance that the upgrade proces fails, leaving you with a device that won't fully boot. When that happens, people often fear that they turned their device into a useless brick. This is most often not the case.
The regular upgrade proces requires an working ActiveSync connection. When the upgrade proces failes and your device won't fully boot, you won't be able to set up the working ActiveSync connection, which could lead you to believe that there is no way to revive your device. Well, you can revive your device by putting it into the boot loader mode. Stephen writes:
Quote:
After researching the issue the only way to get around the problem was to put the unit in bootloader mode, then retrying the upgrade. All HTC devices have this mode and the Wizard is no exception.
To place the unit in bootloader mode, perform a soft reset, when the screen goes blank hold the camera button until a multi colored screen comes up [...]
When the unit is connected, USB is displayed at the bottom left.
Once in bootloader mode you can connect the unit via USB to your PC"

We started to get on the plane for Key West. Then you pulled me to the next gate destined for Honolulu. I made some comment about 5-0 and you gave me the look, that look. At that point I knew this wasn’t going to be a trip to visit Jack Lord shower sex tourist traps. We got on the plane and arrived dog tired. You then informed me that the last time you were in Hawaii someone told you about a drop off service which sounded good to me. We went to a marina and a launch took us to a small island and the captain said he would be back in three days and the island was ours.

HELLO, CAN WE BAN THIS TARD???
THIS PERSON IS A SERIAL THREAD-JACKER WHO POSTS TOTAL SH*T!!!

litle problem with screen!!!

ok guys actually two problems here:
1. my wizard works fin no problems at all until i go to use the keyboard for txting or emailing, sometimes its ok other times the screen goues fuzzy and then a lot of lines appear?? any ideas is it hardware or software problem??
2. ive recently tried flashing a new rom to my pda actually a few bu everytime i flash its the same rom that comes up as before ive hard reset after flashing also soft rest but its still the same rom any ideas?
Have you CID unlocked your device?
I'm having the exact same problem with my keyboard, although it doesn't *only* happen with the keyboard. Every now and then--more and more often now--the device just stops responding for five or ten seconds, and then the lines appear, and the screen fades completely white after a few more seconds. Sometimes it reboots itself, but not always. It never responds to any input after that.
It really sounds like a hardware problem to me, but I have no idea what to do to fix it. A friend of mine who is very much into (read: addicted to) ROM flashing said that a re-flash would solve the problem, and suggested I go back to an official ROM first, just to be safe. I did exactly that, and it did nothing at all to help the symptoms. I've gone so far as to start using a Blackjack II for the moment, because I can't deal with my phone locking up randomly all the time. Any help would be very appreciated.
I too have a similar problem, except its just with my screen that occassionally i get lines down the screen then it fades to white, putting it into standby and back on again gets the screen back. My device still responds however.
Sounds like hardware issue. I have come across quite a few threads with similar problems
yes my device is cid unlocked i used to have no problem flashing roms but now it just doesnt happen all it does it resets the standard rom and all the tmobile gumf loads up
**also does anyone know how to get rid of the tmobile stuff permanently?

"microp version mismatch 0" on my HD2

Today my phone randomly restarted. Then it started acting very strange, bluetooth failing etc.
I got home and then in restarted one last time. Couldnt use the screen, tried to slide to unlock and nothing happened. Wouldnt detect my finger.
So i soft reset.
The phone started up, (unlocked) and i was able to use the hard buttons. Screen still not working.
Finally restarted on its own again, and got the message "microp version mismatch 0, Please Update Latest Microp Firmware"
Screen wont even turn on now.
O2 are going to replace. However they are out of stock currently.
Anyone got any ideas why this has happened? and will it happen again, i.e fault unstable design of phone, or did I just get a duff one?
PS I did not flash the rom or anything. Only used BSBtweeks.
Don't worry. Odds are you get a good one next try. At least you did the right thing sending it back straight away. It saved you many frustrated hours

I use some magnets to stick the phone to my dashboard.
Just checking could this have caused it?

[Solved] Touchscreen locked

I had a strange issue recently with my build (below). I had a 'normal' data freeze and rebooted, but when I did, apparently a message was waiting and some appointment on my calendar was due. This seemed to really slow down WM and HaRET ran very slowly before booting Android. However, after Android booted, the touchscreen was locked and wouldn't slide out of the way. In fact, the screen darkened and shut off just as if I wasn't touching the screen at all. I did receive a phone call, which worked, but touchscreen was still unresponsive.
So I tried rebooting again. This seemed to lock up JMZ Dual Boot and not allow me to boot up Android. Moreover, it locked my touchscreen in WM! I have pocketshield installed, and after cover screen showed up, I couldn't move it away. I tried rebooting, taking the battery out for 5 minutes, etc. and no luck.
Ultimately, I resolved this by a HARD RESET of the phone. Lost my windows setup which will take some time to repair, but since I use Android most of the time, maybe it doesn't matter?
Anyway, posted this in case others are having this problem, maybe there's a theme.
editted: ok, touchscreen stopped responding again, in WM and Android, while the unit was just sitting on my desk. I'm now thinking hardware problem...
yes i have the same problem since a ~week. NO TOUCHSCREEN... i have flashed maybe 100 different roms, but no luck... even when i install the original vodafone rom with radio and downgrade to spl 1.48 it doesnt work... this must be an android issue i think.
yesterday i was in the vodafone shop and they give me an NEW HD2 ))))).
now im waiting for an solution about that problem and hope someone will fix it. untill that i will stay on WM6.x. i dont think, i will get another new HD2^^
sorry about my bad english! im german...
ps: when i started the hd2 there was an picture of an WORLD MAP for ~one second. maybe this helps. i think there is something in the front of the orange screen. something with "yes" or "no" option. but i cant see it.
