Hi, could anyone make or know of any good facebook appplications for htc touch diamond, where it is push rather then pull
i.e u are told how many messages you have rather than you having to go and check.
i tried FrienMobilizer and SkyFire.com but they wer full of spam and bugs...
thankyou.
There is no decent facebook app for windows mobile yet. Apart from that Xperia one which is just another one of Sony Ericssons attempts to fragment the WM community - i.e if you dont have an Xperia, you cant use it.
Its really sad...
Until then, use fring for your facebook inbox and chat

Slow, buggy, tiny icons on a VGA screen - truly awful, especially if you have a large number of "friends" - takes forever to pull their profiles.

Slow: Agree for the startup after it's "quite" ok
Buggy: they have a big prob with a previous version but now seems ok for me.
Tiny Icons: Again not finger friendly but last version, icon are bigger
Large number : I have 85 friends ..on facebook ;-) quite ok; but this comment is just for math spec ;-)
But I must admit a general slow impression, and not finger friendly: if you compare to other non WM app...

the best way to access facebook on the diamond IMO (as an avid facebook user) is by visiting: iphone.facebook.com from Opera. This does the job well and looks perfect if you have Opera set up in landscape mode.
yh but wen i do tht pal, wen i wna see a pic, it dusn show it, it shows it right at the side of my screen so i can see like a tiny slice of the picture!
any ideas?
plus wen i put opera browser in landscape mode it jus minimises and then i hav to resume it in portrait mode or the same fing happenz agen

"Ebonics is not an officially supported languange on XDA."
I think that is a harsh comment for a Moderator, considering there are many posters who can't speak english that well. Either way, I can understand Ebonics quite well and it doesn't bother me if his spelling is "short-hand".
Just my two cents...
Is there any news on a Facebook app?

We can scroll through your photo list by sliding your finger along the picture by full screen. If anyone can make it. It's so great.
I see "icontact" & iMedia Player" is the great job of PPC. We have enough experience to do it. I think the "iPhoto" is not the problem.
Hope it will some soon.

no need for 2 finger actions. you'll do them separate... bottom up change pic, sideways zoom in...
it's being used on the touch flow cube...
as for picsel browser.... looks very nice... ill try it and report!

Hey Guys, Byka is working on a PictureViewer.

Not sure if it will works with other PPC's but I really like it.
I started writing something exactly like you're describing, but I haven't finished it. I've been busy trying to finish up this job and find a new job and haven't had as much free time for programming. I'll do a little more work on it when I get a chance and see what you guys think.
picsel is ultra slow at loading...
bika's still in dev... though it looks awesome!
pictureviewer 1.6 didn't work for me... I'm guessing there's a problem in the cfnet version?

I just tested in WM5. It works. But I don't like the design.
Byka's PictureViewer is good design. I have some idea.
1) In photo list mode, we can scroll (left or right) pictures in the list one by one.
2) Double click the photo to enlarge the photo to full screen.
3) In full screen mode, have a zoom & move function.
4) double click the screen to back to photo list mode.
Base on our current technology, it should not be hard to do. I am shameful that I don't know the programming so much.
SIMPLE IS THE BEST

simple, yet works, but still early in development. it does most of what you ask, except to zoom, you tap the screen.

Thanks Radical. But I have tried this, it doesn't give the option that we get in this viewer.. It's Photo contacts is very good and it's like Diamond one, but not the photo viewer. I am really looking for the one in the video.. It's really awesome, you can use the finger scrolling from the main screen to swipe thru the photos.
It is most likely that your device won't support it anyway... TouchFlo 3D is very graphics intensive...

Actually i did a test like that for pictures first, but it isnt very usable.
I think that feature in Daimond is just to show, not really to use regularly. I prefer the Camera album to view pictures because you can see all the photos in a list and then choose from one.
It can easily be done in flash but the finger motion effects have a problem with the current 'players', if you press the screen and dont release it for a second only, it pops up the "about flash" window.
Still, if you use simple buttons instead of finger motions, like I did for my flash contact list, all you need is a ouside program to list all the images in \storage card\my documents\my pictures (or whererver) to a xml or txt file, then the flash would read all the picture names as variables and present them in that kind of slideshow (or even better animations, like 3d cubes turning or fade-ins) . Do remenber that the 'photo turn 3d effect' would slow things down.
So, depending on the speed of the pocket pc model it would be slow, it isnt very slow on my dual because it has 400 mhz, but there are a lot of models out there with 200mhz...
Also, for some reason, the flash lite engine works faster but has more bugs reading images than the flash 7 engine. :/
And then it comes back to the today plugin, the only good current one is from the Throttle author but it only has one hardcoded size, he is doing a better one, and THAT one I cant wait for... it sounds as good as melted cheese!
That's exactly what I am looking at.

IT's wonderful work twolf, and that is exactly what I am looking at... Will it be possible to post a cab file of the one in the video.. So that I can test and use it on my phone.. I have seen your website and is pretty impressive.. Will it be possible to share the work that you have done here.. So that all of us can enjoy it..
Thats not dependant of me, just of the trotthle author, sorry, like I said I gave that to him.
But after he releases his new plugin, I'll be sure to make a lot of flash goodies for everyone, always releasing the sourcode, because, as I said, I'm a iilustrator, not a programmer, and Im sure others can do so much more.
thanks Twolf

Thanks Twolf.. I tried this before and I am trying the Tempus V13 now..It works perfect, but the till still skips by 1 sec every 2 secs and becomes very slow during skip.. And also takes lots of memory around 3-4 MB on my HTC Touch... Which is a lot for my phone.. . is there is a work going to reduce this... I can't wait !!! for Throttle author to release new version.. ..Tempting
Actually the skipping is good, it does skip sometimes but thats my way of making sure the time is always correct. Otherwise the minutes could change before the seconds reached 59.
The slowness is really because of the 200mhz of the touch, sorry...
As for memory, thats flash...
Maybe in the next version of throttle since the weather and clock are separated and in flash lite, they may become faster, time and tests will tell.
Thank you Twolf
Thanks Twolf.. This is a great application and I am currently trying Throttle launcher works great on my Touch.. Thanks for all you guys work.. Fantastic... Hope to see more from you.. thank you..

how is possible that your is 6,5 mb??? really strange... except if.... in this meaning time they have updated the cab....

it's 6MB because includes Skype, the beta panel was just the panel, skype needed to be installed appart.
this version comes with skype 2.5 (not 3.0 beta) and laucnehs a lot faster also, as said, earphone works by default without any tweak!!
at last, free and low cost calls from everywere.

Okay - your problem looks like an old problem that web developers face. It looks to me like a simple case of cross-browser compatability issues with CSS. You know how some web sites work in IE, but not in FireFox, and vice-versa. Well this looks like the same thing.
Does it look the same when you look at that site in IE on your phone?

I understand your frustration, but if I'm correct then it can't be helped. Not with the version of Opera that you currently use anyway. Maybe it will be different in version 10, but that, of course, doesn't support pinch-to-zoom, which is the main reason I have not migrated to that version.
I may be completely wrong about this, but I've done quite a bit of web development and this really does look like a browser compatability issue to me, especially since it renders fine in IE and SkyFire.
Sorry to not have good news. Maybe Opera 10 will be better for you, if you can live without pinch-to-zoom, but maybe that will still be the same.
Sorry mate
