ActiveSync/Messaging will not send outgoing mail - Networking

I have a Tilt with WM 6.1. After a hard reset I had to set up my ActiveSync again through my company's MS Exchange 2007.
It syncs and incoming email is fine. However, outgoing email just sits and will not go out. If I manually hit send/receive it puts the email in the Drafts folder.
I am also wondering if I should set up a separate proxy server for work or just keep the GPRS connection for syncing?

Qmail with T-mobile

Hi,
This is driving me nuts.
I have installed qmail (q3u) and cannot get it to send mail.
I have the smtp server as smtp.t-email.co.uk which works fine with pocket outlook. The only difference I can see is that within pocket outlook it is set to authenticate with the outgoing username and password left blank.
qmail will not leave authenticate selected if the username and password are blank.
can anyone help?
thanks
I am using Qmail and cannot get my free Hotmail accounts to work. My other accounts do work. However, it may take me 2 - 4 times to try to log in before they connect. Hotmail will not connect. Any suggestions?
Sorry I cannot help you with your problem.

Hotmail, as has been pointed out in some of my mailer-related articles (for example the IMAP Bible at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=1247&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 ), doesn't have POP3 access in its free version. You need to either subscribe to Hotmail Plus or use the built-in Messaging Hotmail account (which does have access to your mailbox - but no other mailer client on your PDA) coming with your Wizard.
well i've managed to fix my problem now. I needed to put the t-mobile smtp server address within the local host section on the smtp tab.
the only thing i can suggest for your problem is to check that the dial up option in qmail is set to the same gprs connection that you usually use.

HELP! Outlook Won't Send EMail When Using WiFi!

Everything was working fine on my Mogul with two e-mail accounts using Outlook. All of the sudden, my Outlook can not send any e-mails on either account when using WiFi. I can send using 1X phone line.
I tried setting up my Yahoo account again, to no avail. Any ideas? With my Moto Q, I had to set up Yahoo again as a POP3 account, instead of the automatic account setup, which used IMAP. Is the same thing happening here?
Frustrating!

look for a program called NODATA or NOGPRS here on XDA. Use it to disable the GPRS function on your phone temporarily and then attempt to send it with only the wifi. If it works let me know and i'll talk you through a permanent fix.
Are you able to surf the net using the WiFi (when the evdo connection has been closed via comm manager)?
If you're online with WiFi, but can't send email (yet you can receive), I'm guessing that the WiFi's internet connection may be the culprit...
You see, many ISPs have outgoing mail filters in place so that viruses and the like can't send out spam from multiple computers.
For example, my provider is optimum online, and they only allow outgoing mail traffic on port 25 (the standard pop3 outgoing port) if it is going to mail.optonline.com.
All you have to do then, is change your outgoing mail server to optonline, and you're all set (note this doesn't change your email address... all outgoing mail servers are the same, you can use whichever you want and it won't have any effect on your name or anything). Every optonline user in my area knows about this by now.
Problem is, then you can't send email from EVDO because optonline isn't accessible from there.
I chose to only send and receive email from the EVDO connection (you can set this somewhere, although I don't remember where), so even when using Wifi, outlook is using the cellular connection.
Alternatively, you can use an exchange server which won't have this problem (since it doesn't send outgoing mail directly, but rather syncs with a server which then sends your mail).

This would be an option I would use. Anyone know if the setting is in E-Mail Acct. setup, and would you have to change it to POP3 because IMAP setup is automatic?
Thanks

you need to setup the outgoing mail for port 25 is filtered of the isp that wifi is using: such as mail.optonline.net for optonline

Direct Push turned off on Alltel Phone

I'm new here, and I go to Comm Manager on my Touch, and Microsoft Direct Push is turned off, and I mean greyed out. So, how do I set up Outlook, and/or my Gmail for direct push? Now, my data keeps randomly turning off, I love this phone, but sometimes it is bipolar.
The Microsoft Direct Push for email is for when you have setup and Exchange server connection via Activesync.
For instance, I have Microsoft Exchange at my work, and I got the webmail server address setup in the Activesync for my Touch, and now when my work account gets an email, I get it almost at the exact same time on my phone.
Gmail by itself doesn't do direct-push, it can do POP3 or IMAP. So you can setup the POP or IMAP connection via adding an email account through the messaging on your phone, but you'll have to specify when you want the phone to go out and check for new mail. There are a few options out there that let you add your gmail settings to some websites that offer the Microsoft Exchange server connection, some free, some paid, and you can do it that way. Just gotta do some searching buddy.

50 email limit in Hotmail

Hi there,
I've tried searching for this but can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I want to be able to download all my hotmail emails to my HTC Touch HD, but currently theres a limit to 50 on my hotmail account.
Is there anyway of doing this? I'm sure I used to be able to do it on a previous version of windows mobile but can't seem to now. It seems so bizaare that you can't, as I often want to go back to old emails, and don't always want to go through the web to get these.
Maybe there's a better email application, or even outlook for windows mobile which I could use?
Thanks for any help,
Tom
try setting up your email account using Outlook Mobile's POP3 settings (pop3.live.com / smtp.live.com). during the setup process don't use the real email address @hotmail, or @msn or @live, use @hotmaill, @msnn or @livee. once you've completed the setup you can go back to change to the correct email account name. the only downside is you lose the push feature. your phone will poll your email account based on the interval you select during setup. i'm using this setup for my MSN account, where email arrives every 5 minutes duirng the day and every 30 minutes in the evenings.
Thanks mate, thats perfect. Don't need to have push email anyway.
Cheers, Tom

Hotmail account on HD
Hi all,
Anyway of getting my hotmail account to go through the Outlook on the phone, WITHOUT having my account on Messenger?
It seems you can only have one account setup on messenger, as as my messenger account.
Now when you setup messenger using a hotmail account, you have the option to get all emails going through the outlook, and download to the phone as normal.
BUT I dont use a hotmail account for my messenger, and my main email accoutn is a hotmail account... hope this doesnt confuse you! But my messenger is a "dead account" and any emails sent to that email go no where.
So If i try setup my hotmail account in the outlook, put in all the setting like email address, password ect, it just takes me to hotmail.com on my Opera browser, but does not save the settings in outlook?
Sorry for confusion!
Not sure I've followed you correctly.
I also don't use messenger but I do have hotmail on my device in emails tab. I used Windows Live to set it up which is on most HD roms. Once you've gone through process of setting up and sync'ing your hotmail account will appear in emails tab like any other email account
Ah yeah, but the problem is, Windows Live just like messenger only lets you have one accoutn setup at once.
So I set my hotmail up with windows live, my emails appear. Thats good.
But then it also sets Messenger up, with the hotmail account, which I dont want, if you get me?
you might be able to setup multiple hotmail accounts using the method listed here. i use this to access 2 msn accounts and 1 live account. not push, but works just as well.

Can't send EMAILS, but can receive them?

I am trying to figure out why my HTC HD2 will not send emails from my handset. Although the emails are coming thru to my HTC HD2.
Kinda getting me annoyed, as I have DOUBLED check the settings with the same settings on my MS outlook 2007 via the PC, they should match up - i'm guessing?
Any idea's what could be wrong?
Cheers.
Hello,
i had the same problem. You should not configure your email account in the manila tab. Delete your account, go to start (windows button) and E-Mail. when you configure here your email account, it should work (worked for me).
Somewhere I read that you should do all future changes in settings of accounts also this way and never use the manila tap for configurations of email settings...

Have tried that... still no joy.
The email just sits in the OUTBOX, and doesn't get sent.
When mailing over WiFi or through PC use your 'home' internet providers' smtp server. When mailing over your mobile network, use your phone company's smtp server. That's the way it goes with internet.
Or use an smtp server that handles both, but they are rare (unless you have your own domain name).
my yahoo does not send email but my google email can. try using a google email.
Some providers require the "Outgoing server requires authentication" tickbox selected.

actually most of the network providers (certainly in the uk) give you an email account with your phone number, or at least allow you to register for one through them, and generally they allow smtp sending from any network.

I have no problem with sending or receiving e-mail via yahoo mail.
Incoming mail server is pop.mail.yahoo.com whilst outgoing is smtp.mail.yahoo.com. Account type is POP3. Option is selected for "Outgoing server requires authentication".
It worked for my Tilt
I have been experiencing these same problems for the last couple of weeks and gave up thinking MS has done the dirty on us again. But after trying to send an important email to a bank and seeing it fail repeatedly, I decided to do something. All the other posts on problems sending email suggest downloading the MS patch which I did, changing port numbers, which I did not do, did not work. What did work is that I checked the box for outgoing mail authentication!
Phew I can keep my Tilt WM6.1 standard build for a while longer now........
Thanks guys.
