Align using registry edit - SOLVED! - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hello,
Bad luck. I purchased a Hermes 100 but unfortuantely it have the issue of alignment and if i made the hard reset it keep asking again and again for the alignment.
I also try to remove the plastic that make the pressure on the LCD but it don't work for me.
By chance i read the thread that state to bypass the align screen by creating the welcome.not file on the storage card.
I created the file and got a chance to get access to the today screen but the problem not end yet the touch screen is misalligned completly. Now, whenever i try to run the allignment the program keep asking me again and again.
I hear that i may modify the registry settings to manually specify the align values. I installed the reg edit software using the storage card. Can someone tell me what values i enter and where...
It have Windows mobile 5 and IPL is 1.00 and SPL 1.04
Thank you and please help me....
****************************************************************
SOLVED: Whenever i restart now i have to manullay using the keypad goto the align screen in the setting. And the first align when it ask me for the realign i just press the power button and again once again to bring it back from standby and it is aligned automatically!

Dude, getting a Hermes with alignment problems is not a good idea. It may need to have the LCD replaced, which isn't expensive but ther emay be other underlying problems too.
I don't know how you will fix it through the registry as it will just keep going out of alignment and all it takes is 1 HR then you in trouble again.
Best idea would be to replace the LCD.
Cheers...

I think that there is some issue in the ROM i think so as even if i connect it to the USB it keep charging but don't notify to the Activesync.
I don't know if these is rom issue or something....
Even in the bootloader screen it gives the name as :
HERM100
IPL-100
HERM100
SPL-1.04
Serial. even the USB is connected it keep the word serial on it.

Install Hard SPL then change rom...

Sorry, for my ideot question.
Do i am able to install hard SPL using memory card. And also it will save my current rom too or not. As i am scare if it got stuck on the align screen again?

It could be aligned by REGEDIT
Mmmmmm let me search the regs to be modded
and I will posted here... but your problem i more like hardware even if the align screen can be aligned your touch wont be fixed...

Well, these values don't work for me. The only thing that is working for me is the solution that i paste in my question. But the only issue with it is that i have to do it again after every reset.
Do someone have the alignned file for hermes for the Remote screen alignment software?

There is from i get the reg

Disable Screen Alignment

Is there a way to disable te screen alignment utility on the QTEK 2020? I mean the welcome.exe that runs when your battery was empty or when you do a reset?
I'm searching my ass off but i'm not finding anything.
I think it would require i OS ROM modification since it is "factory" clean if you loose the power. Extended rom customization kicks in after the screen calibration.
It´s a painfull process to calibrate but ít´s an even more painfull experience with a non calibrated screen
/Regards
Would you really notice it if you wouldn't calibrate the screen? Would be the same like not calibrating a joystick on a PC? If you don't do that you always keep moving because the joystick thinks it's not centered.
I'm just thinking here, during the calibration, would there be anything saved to the registry, of the calibration, because then i would be able to export it to a .reg file and let it be imported during the extended rom customization?
I gonne search some more...
Why all the effort to avoid the calibration? After all you are only forced to do it after a hard reset and the time it takes is minimal compared to the following Extended ROM installation. I can't see why it's such a big deal :?
because i have more than 1 PDA to configure

Because it is a great hassle to have it always appeared when you press your Joystick and Calendar hotkey together. And I need these buttons when I play some games or use Sega/Atari and other emulators ((
because it's a touch screen it's much more troublesome not to calibrate
i mean a joystick if no callibrated will wander but a touch screen will not know where or what you are pressing on with the stylus or finger
the alignment isn't a problem for me. just the stupid copy/paste tutorial is a nuisance. But unfortenately it is in the OS. In the beginning developers here tried to make a custom welcome.exe but they gave up. The effort was too much for the benefits.
Great! I didnt know about the joy + calendar button :-D
Rey, my guess is that calibration is device individual so they cant be copied. But using the joy+cal trick at a later stage makes removing it in the OS ROM much more interesting.
oh well, at least i found out how to automaticly get the GMT zone in, so i can just click next and don't have to scroll
For those who are intrested:
Fill in the setting, i have it on GMT +1, then go to your registry editor and export the following value out of the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Time]
TimeZoneInformation
save somewhere and put it an a the EXTENDED_ROM in a .CAB that auto installes, i put in in the IIWPO.CAB in platformxxx.reg works for me
Restorator

Try Restorator utility (search this forum on: restorator) for individual and multiple setups. Works for me! Thanks to SP!
Unfortunately, it doesn't solve our alignment issue
Dunno if it can help..but I remember ..some cooked ROMs for XDA1 haven't got this Copy-Paste procedure.. some programmer have removed it.
So,try to search for it..

Registry help aligning Prophet screen

I would like some help.
Part of my Prophet screen doesn't work anymore.
This means aligning is hell.
I would like to squeeze some more life out of the thing ...
Especially with guys like Gullum, Cloudifa, and all the other ones ...
I have already found out the registry key is
HKLM\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH\Calibration settings
I have only found values for elf, atom and others on the net.
But they are not yet as close to Prophet (atom is OK except for the far right side of the screen (scroll ...)
Could someone please be able to give me the values on their prophet ?
Want to post it instead of messaging directly to keep this on the forum for others.
If I should have missed an earlies posting woth the settings, sorry, please then redirect me.

These values are unique to each device. If every device was the same, there would be no need for this!
From my ROM setup: 1839,1997 3118,684 3126,3328 577,3291 602,690
Thanks !
I know about the unique settings, but with your prophet settings I can try to come closer thn woth settings fora completely different device, and maybe tweak a bit more myself through remot registry editor.
Thanks again!

You need a registry editor. If you just want to realign the screen, hold the windows hardware button and then press the centre d-pad button.
salll

Maybe a hardware issue...
Try using a registry editor (I'd use this) to edit the settings using those above... May not be perfect but may help....

Touch Screen Answer Button doesn't work

Has anyone encountered this problem??
On an incoming call, I attempt to press "ANSWER" on the touch screen and nothing happens. Pressing "IGNORE" seems to work.
I have the following installed:
- Gyrator 2
- Diamond Tweak 0.5.3
- TF3D Configuration 0.6.7
- AppToDate
Could any of these be creating some form of conflict? I know I should probably delete one by one, but was wondering if anyone else has heard of this.
Thanks

Nooo all good there I was wondering if you had a keydisabler, but you dont.
When things go sour on you phone you should preform a hard reset that solves all problems.
Greets.
I know this is my first post but my answer key became unresponsive when I changed the pressure sensitivity of my screen...
I used the values people posted on the forum and everything else was fine but the green answer key on the screen wasn't working properly. I changed the values back and it works fine now!

Touch screen damanged. Need to send SMS.

ANyone please help. My BA's Touchscreen is cracked and not functioning anymore. But for now i need to use it. When sending SMS i have to touch or press the Send button from the touch screen. But since my screen doesnt work anymore, is there a way like assigning the "Send" button into the hardware key?
Or is there any application that can do this? Anyone please help!
Thanks in advance!
hi
what do u mean cracked?there is a picture and there is no tap action?or there is no picture and response anymore?there is like damage in lcd like un usual colors and rabush and lines?because may be if u change the rom or re-upgrading the rom,may be the problem fixed, specially in minor problems.
i think u cannot send msgs without tap action.
there is a crack, display is okay, but touch response is not fuctioning well, the only thing i notice is that, when i press on the right bottom most of the screen, sometime touch works and sometimes not works. I been trying to do the Align screen method but doesnt work. i think it is the hardware problem.
if that sms is really that important to you, you can always connect the device to the pc and when connected to activesync a nice little freeware called "my mobiler" can be used to control the device with the pc's mouse and keyboard and gets the device's screen on your pc screen. it can be downloaded here:
http://www.mymobiler.com/
but after bypassing the problem for now, we should focus on getting the thing fixed. you could answer homam_france's questions to help us determine what exactly went wrong and maybe you don't need to bypass then anymore but can solve the problem!
EDIT: ignore the request for more information, you already answered while i was writing this
@Chef_Tony
Thank you, but that is what I am doing right now. But my problem is that when i am not in from of my pc and I need to send important sms? Maybe there is a software that can map the Send softkey to hardware key.
Thanks again!
you could try this program:
http://classic.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=21070
there is a trial version there, and if you can install, start and control that program without the use of the touch screen, or from your pc, maybe you can tell it to for example, map the left softkey with the mail hardware key or something like that, i haven't tested it. if that prog is not right, on the bottom of that page there is a link for related applications, maybe one of those helps you.
if, however, the remapping of the keys does not work, for a different sms application, you could try:
iwindowsmobile sms chat:
http://iwindowsmobile.com/threaded-sms-messaging.html
visual it simple sms:
http://www.visualit.co.uk/PocketPC/simplesms_V5.htm
or this one:
http://www.mobileflipper.com/mobile-tips/sms-application-for-windows-mobile-50-60-and-61/
maybe their way of hitting the send button is different and works for your device.
by the way, on any normal mobile phone, you can also send an sms by pressing the green call button, unfortunately, ppc phones don't do that.

Why don't you just go to Setting/Personal/Buttons and map a button to "<Left Softkey>"
Thanks to everyone
Thanks to you all. I finally got a chance to fix my touch screen. not bad at all. except that i forgot to right fit the volume hardware keys.
Be very careful with the Volume key, if you don't close the case wright, you might broke the switch (a little switch on the mainboard that is moved by the volume key). Just make shure it's in the wright place when closing the case
Hi to all.
What can I do in case the ba is working, the screen is perfect but no more touch? it's a os 5.2.1933(18533.0.7.0)
thanks
that can happen but it has probably nothing to do with the rom. it means that the digitizer is broken and you need to look for a new one, maybe a good ebay search or a post in xda's marketplace could help you
thanks 4 the reply. Do you mean a new lcd screen?
no, just the digitizer, it is the see through touch panel on top on the actual display, maybe you are lucky and find a cheap one, as you don't need a new screen.
you can buy a new digitizer on dealextreme.com, i recall a few months ago they were selling the digitizers for Blueangel devices, its very easy to disassemble the BA & replace it. Good luck.
BA Screen alignment settings at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH
Can any of the members pl. post the screen alignment settings available at Registry entry Screen alignment settings for BA and/or variants at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH
Value Name: CalibrationData
Value data:
? (5 sets of data)
Value type: REG_SZ
Value Name: MaxCalError
Value Data: ?
Base : Decimal
Value type: REG_DWORD
With these values most of the BA devices with defective touch screen can become functional to large extent.
Actually we can add the values to the BA Wiki
Regards
here's the CalibrationData:
17 154,258 154,788 865,785 859,262
i dont have a MaxCalError key.
Good luck,
dtd
Hi DTD,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Pl. verify the data provided by you as it doesnt seem to have the 5 sets for the CalibrationData values & repost correctly.
Thanks in advance

Strange calibrationData in registry after using "align screen" function.

Hello,
My touche screen is not working on my Samsung i900. I did try to do a "align Screen". This align screen procedure goes well. I can press the + and the pda is accepting the result.
The problem is that when this is done the screen is still not working. I can press any place on the screen and there is no reaction.
On the forum I have seen that there are recommendations to set the following values in the registery entry "calibrationData" --> 519,503 177,881 182,129 847,127 849,872
If I set these values the screen is still not working!
I did also check values I had after doing the "align screen" procedure and then the data save in the registry is the following: 517,2 159,-3 170,7 853,8 832,-4
As you can see the recommended data is completely different than what I get and I wondering if this is normal?
Recommended calibrationData:
519,503 177,881 182,129 847,127 849,872
My calibrationData:
517,2 159,-3 170,7 853,8 832,-4
Does anyone of you know how could I solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

nope, it's not normal at all.... at first sight it looks like a damaged touchscreen, it's like something is constantly pressing it somewhere in the very upper part.
Something similar happened once to a collegue of mine at office with her son's nintendo ds: solved replacing the touchscreen with a new one...
Thank you for your answer.
Yes, this is also what I start thinking of.
Yesterday I bought a new touch screen on ebay. I will keep you informed about the result.
To be able to continue using my Samsung, I would like to activate the mouse pointer and use it with the central button?
Do you know how can I do that whithout using the touch screen?
Thanks in advance.

I don't remember if it can be enabled via registry, but you could try taking a look in
hklm/system/state/samsung/mouse
and see if there's something to enable it... would like to be more precise about it, but without an i900 in my hands I can't check the exact registry entry
