contact pictures resolution in "people" tab - Touch HD General

I used 480x480 pictures for my contacts (assigned in winmobile contacts) but seems that winmobile downscale it and then manilaHD upscale it to fit the "people" picture, so it looks ugly. How to solve?

Transfers the photos to your Touch HD and set the contact picture from the phone itself, rather than from your PC.

I wouldn't mind nicer pictures on the contacts too. Mine is set in Outlook and then synced across. Will I suffer from the same thing?
Is 480x480 the best size to use?

Probably yeah, I think at the moment you have to set them through the phone in order for them to display properly. I cannot speak from experience however, only from what I have read on here.

hi,
256x256 ( if i remember well )pixels at 72 dpi resized in pics applications like photoshop : perfect result .
there is already a topic with the solution.

Wow. Yes. Please make sure, even through he didn't explain what winmobile was, that you understand what he is saying and don't try and help him otherwise. If you don't you get told off!
How inconsiderate some people trying to help others can be!

If your phone's screen is landscape, create a 293x240 png image and name it cprogback_land and drop it in the Windows folder.
If your screen is QVGA, create a 240x293 png image and name it cprogback and drop it in the Windows folder.
That should do the trick!

Nope.
Look at any .xml file and you see that:
"<plugin clsid="{837FC251-FE69-43ad-84E0-EBCEDEBA0884}" name="iconbar" height="27">"
so the the background image for the landscape calling is: 240 px - 27px (upper bar) - 27px (bottom bar) = 186px.
PS: Changin' this landscape affecting only the incoming calls not the outgoing calls (at least this happens on my device).

Athens!
I've often dream to make a long long journey through Greece to see what Alexander the Great saw when leaved his Pella. Smelling the air of the Thermopylis and the raging ruins of Messana and... many many other places, so many that all the servers of the so much glorified and used World Wide Web cannot list, and never might.
PS: It's really a pity that History and your country ignores each other. "The Ancient Romans conquered Greece with force but Greece conquered them with its philosophy" (maybe you heard this sentence before: it's sad, in many senses).

Touchflo Wallpaper Comes Out Blurry

Hi all,
I decided to set a custom wallpaper today on my HTC Touch HD and found one
that was 800x480 so it would fit perfectly on the screen. When I look at the
picture through the file explorer, it looks sharp and exactly what it looked like
on my PC, but when I set it as a wallpaper using the Settings tab
in Touchflo3D, it comes out very blurry. It's almost a low-res version of the
original image.
Is there any way to fix this problem.
Thank you
EDIT:
I opend another thread in the HD Touch sesction of the forum as I thought
I'd get more replies here. Could a moderator please remove my other thread

Not sure if this is related. I had a similar problem with my contacts images.
If I assigned contact photos in Outlook and then sync, the contact photos on my phone were low-res.
But if I assigned contact photos on your SD card directly to specific contacts they became hi-res thumbnails.
Were do you have your wallpaper saved?
I have my pictures saved in the Pictures Folders in the My Documents folder.
I don't understand why this would happen, just because it's stored in
internal memory.
Never-the-less I shall try what you said and see whether it works.
Just to make sure 800x480 is the correct resolution for wallpapers on the
HTC Touch HD isn't it?
Thanks for your help Fallen Spartan

Your problem is slightly different Spartan, If you synch with Outlook it will always down res your contact images. The trick is to add them via the people tab in manila. That keeps them high res.

Unfortunately Da11y, yours is a known issue right now where background images are converted to a lower resolution, allegedly to save on processing power! So a large image doesn't have to be rendered every time. I could see they woul;d put a cap on the image size, but not limiting it to less than the screens resolution! There is a thread about this somewhere. I'll try to dig it out.
Cheers ClownShoes
I find it kinda of silly that this restriction is in place. The Touch HD has got an
amazing screen and not being able to set wallpapers in the normal high-res
defies the point.
I hate having low-res wallpapers so at the time being have no option but to use
the default wallpaper

To be honest I sort of thought this and I had corrected my problem beforehand. Just wasn't sure if Da11y's problem was related and I knew someone like yourself would correct me anyhow
Im confused about this very same thing, it somehow converts the image to lower resolution (dpi). Isnt there some registry entry that can be manipulated to disable this "feature"?
The phone has more then enough power to render a wallpaper, why else call it HD if it isnt even able to render a simple wallpaper properly...
I know what you mean 0verseer. This problem is very annoying as all my
high-res wallpapers are coming out proper sh*t on my Touch HD when set
to wallpaper.
I tried what you said as well Fallen Spartan but it made no difference.
You would think HTC would provide an option to enable/disable high-res
wallpapers

As much as I love my Touch HD, there's so many little things that really
p*ss me off with it.
This is just one of the few. Hopefully someone comes up with a reg hack
or something that will disable wallpapers from turning low-res.
I found that link guys http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447785&highlight=wallpaper+lo+res
It appears it's a touchflo issue and a limitation of the way the graphics engine works.

The image resolution has been already discussed... and solved. Try to search this forum. Basically, you need to put the images on your Leo (SD card, if you wish), because the import from Outlook is low res.
I am looking for that tweak too
About photo quality...I have photos on sd card and the quality after seelcting the photo for contact is the same
I have my pictures through Facebook and can't complain about res. Does no one know of a tweak for this? If not, anyone fancy making one? i would but really don't have the know how of where to even start let alone do it...
I think that it doesnt matter how you add photo to the contact, because on the computer the contact photos are in good quality, it is just how the phone shows them in people tab and when someone calls you...
I guess it is something about photo resizing and all these stuff which are involved in raster photos, sampling, resizing....I guess that phone doesnt know to do it better...

Display multiple time on the main screen

Hello guys,
Is there a possibility to view in the main screen 2 individual time settings? I travel a lot and this can help me see just by touching the mobile what is the time at home compared to the location one.
By opening some application it is just inpractical so is there some way to just add a small time next to the big one?

For this you can use old version (2.0) or something of SPB Time. Earlier version used to come with today Plugin which can be used for multiple location times. However it'll be helpful only if you are not using TouchFlo as your today application.
Can we act like civilized people and avoid the flaming. If you have nothing relevant to say, it's best to say nothing.
