Hi All,
I am trying to develop a Personal Java App for XDA which can read, send SMS and can read CBS. I look through web for help and could find some SMS APIs but not really helpful. Is there a way in JAVA to do that and do I need to have some contract with O2 ( service provider) or some knowledge of internals of XDA like RIL.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Dhiraj
I have implemented a JNI API for SMS: attached is the code for XDA II
Hi Dhiraj
I read yr SMS from Java App
I wonder if u could write a small app which could pick out a phone number contained in an sms. I receive sms from various sources with cell phone numbers in them and i need to respond to them with my postal address. I wonder if i could find an app which could send an sms to the number contained in an sms.
for eg.
new sms from :
shailes<+91-12345-85995>
content as below
"
Dear Al please call dhiraj on +91-98123-47485 and discuss the sms thread and send a quote and yr address"
<end of message>
Action
SEND An sms to DHIRAJ with predefined message
Most application filters can only read and will reply to sender
for eg. MAGICALL will send SHAILES a predefined message or the incoming text message
I need the program to read the phone number inside the text message and reply to it.
Any help

While I appreciate the fact that you posted your question in the Q&A Section, I will also have to ask you to not open new threads with questions. Just ask either in the corresponding thread or in the Q&A. Thanks.
require to set reminder for next day call, missed - to make call reminder and also need email reply reminder/follow up
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.
For more questions or to have full access please register an account on XDA forum.

Good luck
Noticed on my Nexus 6P - after switching over from Hangouts to Google Messenger - that my group texts or MMS's do not get grouped together.
In particular, I initiate the group text/MMS but my participants' replies will get separated from my original initiated thread into it's own threaded response.
This creates basically 2 separate threads.
Now I could jump on to the new response thread & participate there but it will never have my original text mssg. attached to it.
& the original thread will thus go dormant with no replies ever.
I can respond to the responses in my original mssg thread but any replies will never get attached to my original mssg. They will go to their own response thread.
Anyone else have this problem?
AFAIK you don't send group texts via Google Messenger but broadcast texts. So if you send any message to 5 recipients 5 recipients get a text and not that group. If they respond only you get the text and not the other four, too. That's why...
I get group texts to work using it. I have one friend where his response always comes through seperated but everyone else is in the original thread.

Not sure if it will clear it up for you , but you can change the behavior in settings > advanced > group messaging
I rarely use group messaging, but if I recall correctly in the past, those settings allow what you want.

Actually - what you described is 1 of 2 options under the Messenger settings.
The other being getting a group reply where all the participants to my original MMS gets to see everyone's responses.
My problem is that the responses do NOT get attached to the a MMS - if I initiate it.

Yeah, it seems your one friend's reply is my current condition for all group MMS replies on my N6P.

Yep, as I mentioned in my reply above to dannydoowop - I am currently using the "Send a single MMS to all recipients" option.
However, the replies to a mssg that I initiate will inevitably be segregated into their own - new - thread; away from my initial mssg to everyone.

so once you get a reply it creates a seperate thread in your messaging app and ALL replies go into that thread that you can respond in? or does each reply create a new thread that all other replies then go into?

Yep. That is what happens.
I will not see 2 threads listing the recepients:
1) With my lonely initial mssg
2) With everyone's responses & no initial mssg.
I can choose either to add to the conversation but any response from counterparties will fall into #2.
That's weird I don't know why it would be doing that
If it is correct in your settings try deleting the group you made and create a new one. Also, there may be something about Hangouts that is effecting it. Only other thing I can think of to try to fix it is to clear the app's cache.
I have the same problem, did anyone find a solution?
