Playing PSP video in X1 - XPERIA X1 General

Anyone has try to play MP4 video (which is converted to PSP format) in X1?
I have try to play the video, it can only play the sound, no video display.
The video is "MPEG4 Video (H264) 853 x 480", and the sample video "Bond Trailer XPERIA X1.mp4" comes with my X1 is "MPEG4 Video (H264) 480 x 260 24.00fps", it need some conversion to play in full screen. So, I expected that it can re-size and display the PSP format also, but it can't.
It seems that we cannot have same format for PSP and X1, and we need to create another file with smaller size for playing in X1.
Does anyone know the maximum screen size for MPEG4 files which can be played in X1?

Playing video formats?

The Blackstone is the first smart/windows mobile phone i have had so after recieving my phone i tried some of my video files but (as i expected) windows media wudn't play them, i have seen on other threads that alot of people mention Core Player 1.2.5 and wondered if anyone could give answer me a few quick questions:
1. Does Core Player play most formats (im trying to play x264.mp4 and dixv .avi)
2. Where can i find Core Player?
3. is it a free program? if not how much is it in GBP?
Go to www.coreplayer.com and see for yourself. I think on their homepage they anwser pretty much all your questions.

Thanks - Don't know why didn't find their site!
I had this problem - Core Player 1.2.5 plays all files perfectly on the HD - commuting will never be the same again...
Which version do i need?
CorePlayer Mobile For PocketPC / Windows Mobile
CorePlayer Mobile for SmartPhone
I assume its the SmartPhone version?
This is the version you need: https://www.mobihand.com/cart1.asp?posid=130&pid=8905
(mobile/WM)
HD is a PocketPC
working
Coreplayer 2,5 works perfectly. The PocketPc version the smartphone one is for devices without touchscreen.
Its a commercial software.
Ideal is to use the Qtv display as video output.
I tried different encoded format and the best result is encode the avi files with following attributes:
dimension 640*480
Bitrate between 700 and 750
Framerate 25fps
Audio MP3
Stereo 128kps
Frecuency 44100 Hz.
You can use a higher bitrate till 1200 , but the video doen't play always very smootly then
I tried a couple widescreen (960x540) files in different formats (wmv, mov, avi) with coreplayer 2.5, and none of them would play anywhere near smoothly. the mov played with about 1.5 fps, the wmv with about 5 fps und the avi with something like 7 fps. do any of the numerous settings in coreplayer need to be changed or is the device simply not powerful enough for full native resolution video playback?
just tried some more videos, this time a 1 MBit/s 480x270 wmv file, and even that couldn't be played in any useful way:
played frames: 85
dropped: 447
did you change anything in the core player settings to achieve proper playback?

Firstly, the issue with the video files comes from the fact that they're larger than the resolution of the screen. (your video=960x540, HD=800x460) This means that as well as decoding and playing the video, it also has to scale the video down to it's resolution. This is why it's stuttering. Full native resolution video playback is 800x640 which, incidentally, is the native resolution of DVDs, so if DVD rips have been encoded properly, should not need resizing or re-encoding to play on the HD. (feel free to be skeptical of this, I don't own a HD yet so can't confirm this)
The 1Mbps file possibly wasn't playing properly for that exact reason, it was 1Mbps. As BerreZ states, the highest bitrate to get good playback is 750Kbp
Thanks, got CorePlayer up and running now works like a dream!
I'm waiting for funds to clear so i can finally order one of these bad boys. I'm not too demanding when it comes to video playback on the phone. 700KBPS is the standard encoding of dvd rips isn't it? like, your traditional torrent movie file.So it looks like we can play them on the HD then using coreplayer? I'm not to concerned about HD quality playback and i've been using an XDA2i for 5 years, mainly for clips and such when bored at the bus station .
Maybe with a higher capacity card I might throw a movie or two on there

a)Native DVD resolution is not 800x640
b)700Kbps is not the "Standard Encoding" for DVD rips.
bitrate will depend on the size of the encode, the length of the movie.
Apologies, my mistake.

Urgh -it's payware. Another cost.
Is there a decent free avi/media player?
One time, I got a cab, but lost it, with some codecs to play divx and other on the Media player. Does anyone knows something like that??
I just purchased CorePlayer. It gave me v1.3.6 not 2.5. Anyway I have tried a divx and avi film. With both I just saw a green haze for a bit and I needed to soft reset the device to recover.
I downloaded the cab not exe and installed it directly onto the device. My films are on storage.
I get a "Copy & Convert" dialogue box with "Convertion (None)" and it seems to do nothing for a while but it does seem to copy the file across ok. What that means is I can see it in explorer. That said it seems to take several runs at it and the bars never go beyond three or so.
Have I just got the wrong resolution?
Any ideas?

Can u watch Torrent DVD rips on X10?

it doesnt offer Xvid or DivX support....but can u watch 700 MB downloaded movie files on it?
It all depends on the file format of the video you're trying to watch. To my knowledge, Mediascape is really only capable of opening H.264 formatted videos. So if you DL a movie in that format, sure it cane play it. Otherwise you need third-party software like yxFlash to play other formats of video, or you need to convert the videos to H.264 format using software like Handbrake.
As for ability to playback: I have ripped my Avatar DVD to H.264 at full DVD video size (720x464) and the 900+MB file has no problem playing beautifully.
Depends in what format are movies. Device can't play Divx an Xvid movies (playing is jerky). And there is no player capable of playing divx/xvid movies. But device can play mp4 movies and I can say that picture is great. I also have Avatar, but in 800*480 resolution. You must see that picture

720 Video Recording

I recorded a video at 720 res but when I play it in windows media player it does not look like high def? I uploaded the same video to youtube which gives me the option to play it at 720p. Does anyone know how to adjust this in windows media player?
ive also recorded some videos in 720 and they don't really look like 720 quality but they are still in 720 res... in your WMP what res does it say the video is playing in?
also i believe the dInc records videos in 3gp so I'm not sure WMP is even supposed to open them... have you tried opening the file with quicktime player? (free from apple.com)
I have noticed this also, with the first OTA I recorded a video at 720p with the encoding type set to H.264 and the video looked great. Now with the current leaked OTA (8-1-10) this is no longer a option as soon as I select H.264 as the encoding type I default to a res of WVGA 800x480 and not given the option to select 720p?
I have noticed that the video does say 1200x720 just the quality doe not look it. I also just tried opening the file in quicktime still looks the same.

[Q] Can it play High Profile H.264?

I'm trying to decide between an Xperia Play or Xperia Arc for my next phone and need to know if either or both can play High Profile Level 3 H.264 mp4's.
I've got all my DVDs already ripped and my current Moto Atrix (Great, Fast phone) can't play them.
Any help?
I use mobo player mainly for playing h264 and it works great (480p, 720p works well) 1080p bit laggy but it works. See following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080194&highlight=player
* edit * Just tested a sample video from here (scroll down to see The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya NCED theme (Hare Hare Yukai) SD video with karaoke soft-sub) http://imouto.my/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/ Its 480p Profile: [email protected] even displaying subtitles and no lag

Best Video output to use on the Transformer

Hello all I just got my E Pad and looking to load some movies onto it.
Can anyone tell me the best format to use for quality. I have an 8Gig Micro to use for videos. I also use DVDFab for converting.
Thanks

I'm wondering this as well. I've seen a few threads on here regarding 720p settings, but how about non-hidef? What would people recommend using? I copied some movies over to my TF when I first got it and the playback was horrible, regardless of what player I used.

Anything works for non-HD, just make sure you play it with something like Mobo Player, the default player doesn't support that many formats, nor does it play it as smoothly. In terms of HD, just look at the handbrake preset or install Mediainfo to check what profile your h264 video is at (Baseline, Main, High), it usually is Main/High. If it is 720p High, you may try playing it, but anything with more than 3 reference frames will lag.
something weard is i converted some movies they play but only at 2x they fly through.

I had this issue too. The file was an MP4 H.264 encoded file but the audio codec was not in stereo.
I re-encoded the movie using AVS Video Converter with these settings:
Frame Size: 1280x 720 (depending on movie format)
Video Codec: H.264/AVC
Frame rate: 24fps or match source video
Bitrate: 1500KBs video
Video Advanced: Multi-pass (first pass fast)
Audio Codec: MPEG-2/4 Audio 192KBS Stereo not 5.1
File type: MP4 PSP
With these settings, high def videos play awesome on my Transformer both on stock player and Rock Player with hardware decoding setting.
