Camera shutter release BUTTON IDEA - Touch HD General

During photo mode you have to press the screen to take photo. This can be awkward if you holding the camera at awkward angles such as at yourself using the 5mp camera... so what would be a very nice tweak would be colume buttons become the shutter release....
any way to do this?

Is it a good idea though? I feel that this may make it difficult to keep the hand steady and still, therefore blurr the image.
Would it be a better idea to touch a button on the screen, then WAIT about 3 seconds before activating the shuttle? This would make sure the touching of the screen do not shake the camera.
I hope HTC had foreseen this issue, and make sure there is a delay between pressing the shuttle button and actually activating it. Three seconds is probably a good delay.

3 seconds is a long time for people to say 'cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese' for

Then, start saying 'Cheese" two seconds after you press. Simple.

Sony ericsson Xperia x1.For any reason i cant make picture with button on side this ceel phone.if i touch this button i only wake up this cell phone.but if i like set up cameras and make any picture i must go on Start-programs-picture and videos, click on,cameras and picture i must make with senzor button. You have any idea why??this button don t work.Thank for ansver and help.Danny.
Umm....its hard trying to understand what u typed. but I think you're having a problem with getting your camera to start with the side camera button right? well I had the same problem at first, but then I figured out that you have to press the camera button further down to get it to work. doing a soft press on the button is used for focusing the camera, thats why you have to press it down hard
Hold the camera button down until the screen changes to a gray logo of a camera. Should load from anywhere on the phone
In camera, go to settings icon and choose thee shooting mode (button will have different behaviour depending on which shooting setting you choose)
.
new to SE phones?
Sony Ericssons have camera buttons to be pressed at almost very hard for it to turn the camera on. (well unless if the cellphone have lens cover.)
Then taking a picture takes a couple of seconds late that is, pressing soft for focusing, then press hard for taking a shot. You can also take a shot right away by pressing hard but it might still take a couple of split seconds to shoot.
I wonder why they say " Never miss a shot" hehehe hope this helps but if your phone still doesn't respond maybe there is a problem with your camera button.
Try opening your camera by goinf to pics and vids then activate your camer NOW, try to take a picture by pressing the button. if it responds and takes shots. then you've probably need a master reset, or reflash.
Camera
Yes,i press this button verry hard for long time, soft for long time and nothing happen.Still i cant use this button. You have any other idea. What you think about master reset, or reflash.??Thank you for any ansver.Danny.

display wake up

Hi all,
i sometimes notice this problem on my omnia 7..
when the screen is turned off and i press the middle button the screen is not turning on.. i have to press it again or press the power button.. anyone experienced this problem?? any idea what can it caused?? I do not have any apps installed..
Thanks..
I have the same, sometimes the middle windows button will not wake the phone up.
When the middle button refuses to wake up the phone the camera button also refuses to wake up the phone and go straight to the camera app. I need to press the power button and then the camera button.
Annoying.
Do you guys know the term "it is a feature" when something in reality is a flaw - well in this case it really is a feature
If the sensors notice that the phone is in a complete dark surrounding it assumes the phone is in a pocket. Therefore it not wakes your screen up and also the camera button will not work. You can test this if you hold your thumb over the sensors next to the speaker strip.
Should your camerabutton not function in a bright setting, it is of course a different situation.
What an easy and clever answer..
Thank you very much.. next time i will think more.. OMNIA 7 rulezzz
Aaaah clever stuff!
Superb thanks

[Q] Camera button - is yours wobbly?

Hey guys,
I have a question about the camera button. I noticed on my Omnia 7 that the camera button isn't as tight and secured as the power button, and that the camera button is slighty wobbly. It's not bad at all, I was just wondering if it was just my device. Thanks.
I htink it is because the camera button is more prominent while the power button is almost flush with the phone casing!

I figured the same as well!
Yep, its a bit more loose. I never noticed it though.
Hi, I think it is deliberately kept that way on the Omnia 7, since a softer push on the camera button does not do much apart from adjusting the focus and then pressing it further captures the image. It's not that big a deal though, I sort of like it that way.

Would you like to have more hardware buttons on SGS?

Being pretty satisfied with SGS experience I still miss some mechanical buttons on my Hero. It was so convenient being able to initiate a call, hang up and put the phone to sleep without even looking at the screen. Especially I loved the idea of combined hang up/power button on the front panel - when the phone call ends you simply double-tap the button and it hands up and then turns off the screen.
Would you agree this iPhone-like elimination of mechanical buttons sacrifices phone usability for the sake of aesthetics?
i have voted a full qwerty, but i think a camera dedicated button would be nice...
Camerabutton would be awsome
BTW my homebutton isnt working ):
You can answer, hang up and turn the screen off with home and power button, so what you want is partially already there and i prefer it more than any more buttons on the front panel.
Don't know how you would initialize a call with a single button though, as you have to find a contact or type a number.
And i don't quite get it, you have a Hero now or SGS? or both?

Sorry, by "initiate" I meant "answer", which is actually available on SGS via home button. On the other hand reaching the power button is not so convenient when I compare it to that on Hero which is located on the front panel and can be easily reached by thumb, no matter what hand you are holding the phone in.

quick launch camera

What is the quick launch mechanism on the g6 for the camera
Supposed to be Volume down twice with screen off or locked. Haven't really been successful using mine yet.

Works for me.
am on G600L10i
This is one of the few things I don't like about my G6, I wish there was a way to quick launch the camera whether the screen is on or not. Every other phone (well, most), have this function.
Heck, let me double click the power button or something...come.on LG.
With screen on... Hit the power button, hit volume down button twice. Takes less than one second to launch camera.
Screen off just hit volume down twice.

@skyfox99 I known I can do that, just takes too long as you can't immediately hit the volume down twice after power, you have to wait a sec, otherwise it just comes up to lock screen.
Defeats the term, "quick launch".

I can launch it in less than a second. That's pretty quick to me and works from any screen... Quicker if you haven't AOD disabled. Instant launch would be nice if that's what you're referring to like a dedicated button or something. Although I had an old Windows Mobile HTC Tilt that had that and the camera was always getting launched in my pocket.

Well, good for you I guess. If I hit power while the screen is on and immediately double tap the volume down it just goes to the lock screen, essentially just wakes the phone up. Only if I pause briefly after tapping power does it actually work.
Works for you, great, good for you. It doesn't work for me.
Again, would prefer another method. Heck, just give me the option for the volume down double to tap to work with the screen on, that would do it.
