I have a HTC dream that i am look to trade for a Windows Mobile phone(PPC).
info about the dream.
This phone is a T-Mobile G1 (HTC DREAM) and was purchased on July 2, 2009 and used for about 3 weeks there is no damage to the phone at all. This android phone has been rooted and has a more useable boot loader for installing custom roms or OS’s. It is has several preinstalled applications and a lot backed up on the SD Card for easy install with app manager. This phone has a 4 GB SD Card that has been partitioned increase the memory of the phone which means more the default amount of apps can be installed, on the other hand this also means that the card should not be remove with the phone on. The SD Card can be upgraded up to 32 GB but to have swap partition it will need to be formatted per XDA Developers website. Cupcake Updated rom (use the track ball to take photos not the camera button or will force close). This includes the USB Cable, wall charger (there is some minor damage to cable but still works fine and can be replaced with any HTC charger), aftermarket carrying case (clips to belt), and headset. This phone works on T-Mobile Networks for sure, I have not tested if it works on CEN US or AT&T networks but it should be able just by inserting SIM card and adjusting APN address.
reasion for trade is that i do not like android.

i'm getting really ******** with the HD, and if you guys can't help i'm going back to my nokia n73
Thanks in advance
TC,
Flash a custom ROM if you want a stable and smooth performance.
You won't regret it
Cheers.

Problems you describe should not occur even with stock rom. Sounds like something is wrong with your device. Have you recently tried changing anything, i.e. a new custom rom, radio etc etc?
not changed anything on the unit.
it has standard orange rom, and has never been changed.
this is the second HD with this problem.
i was thinking it might just be Orange have made a mess of it!!!
tried new roms etc on the first one. still no better.
so i rang orange and they changed it.. but this new one is just the same
in fact its worse!!!!!

Something is seriously amiss with your device. I'd advise you to backup whatever you need and then do a hardreset if you want to keep your current rom, or try a custom rom.
Whilst I can't speak for the Touch HD specifically, this would be far from the first time Orange (or any other network for that matter) had screwed up a phone's software by way of their branding.
The best thing you can do is try replacing the ROM with an un-Orange-ified one.
I got a similar experience, and I installed the latest stock ROM from HTC using USPL. (RUU_BlackStone_HTC_Europe_1.56.401.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe)
It was pretty easy (It took me about 15 min to flash the ROM) and it was worth.
the only pain was to reconfigure all your applications, but it depends on how many you have added.
TomTom is working perfectly.
can anyone recomend a ROM & Radio to flash to a HD on UK orange?

Hey Mate,
I had experienced similar issues with the stock Telstra branded ROM, I am now using Windows 6.5.1 (Build 230XX) on my mobile which has a much better touch user interface to WM 6.1. 6.5.1 would be a little less stable than 6.5 (Build 218xx).
[23/10/09] XannyTechROM GRID LEO 1.9 Latest Leo (WM 21870.5.0.70)
[16.10.09] MaryOne v0.05☻Build 23071☻Leo 1.28☻[MANILA 1920xx]☻
Are 2 great Newer ROMS
I'd advise you to check the file system of your memory card.
I had a similar issue where pocket player was taking minutes to start up, device was hanging, etc.
The disk check found and corrected a number of errors and everything is working normally since then,
Just connect the phone as a disk drive to the pc and run a disk check.
ya just before i mentioned this thing in somewhere else on forum orange provider htc touch hd is crap i dont know what hey have done with it but it was seriously lagging then my one of vodafone....... even touch flow 3d doesnot work good enough.
i am saying this having experience of my bros mobile.of orange network
thanks god vodafone saved me. though htc touch hd 2 is giving me greed...

Definately sounds like the problems you can be having with messed up SD card. I had similar experience, so try removing the memory card first and if this does not help - hard reset (could be some bad application you installed) or new ROM. Plenty of them around here most of them pretty good.
what id do is the following:
grab http://www.business.orange.co.uk/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Business&cid=1135315301990&c=OUKPage&rootid=1130996672026&roottype=NavMenuItem&extarg1=1044137233185&extarg2=HTC+Touch+HD%E2%84%A2&extarg4=select
remove sim + SD card
hard-reset & let it configure
connect to pc (activesync) and run orange's latest RUU
allow to configure
test your issues to see if their resolved
if fixed, re-insert sim+SD card
SD card has various ways todo it. i just connect phone to pc, use 'storage card' option for conneciton type, then format as the lowest format (fat preferably, but usually fat32. NTFS has issues according to many, i havent tried)
i havent tested the mp3 playback on my HD (dont use it), but i've found too many issues with cooked roms i've now reverted back to shipping ROM's just to get a 100% working reliable phone.
ime cooked roms all have one of the following wrong with them:
- beta release software causing instability
- slow performance
- buggy features (Dutty's Leo R6 has bluetooth issues)
that said, there is a ton of reasons to go with cooked roms, just the con's outweigh the pro's for me.

many thx guys and gals
nokia back in the draw
can anyone let me know if the rom used in the hd effect the speed of the transfer of files when the hd is connected to the pc as mass storage
since i got my replacement phone a few weeks back the sd transfer speed has been sketchy. im getting speeds of 32 kbs and im wondering what the cause is
windows 7 rc
the phone (hardware)
the phone (software)
the cable (my htc cable split so im using others)
the card (sandisk 16gb class 2)
so ive ruled out windows 7 rc as the slow transfer speed in consistant with xp pro home and a retail windows 7
at first i did think is was the cable but ive used a good few to try and see if this is the problem. the pattern of slow transfers run throughout the wires i have
i have tried another card in my phone and i got the same result
this leaves me with two possibilites
the phone hardware (oh and it hs newton rings) is screwed and i need a replacement
or
the phones rom is conflicting with the transfer somehow
can anyone tell me if theyve experienced drastic changes in the transfer speed depending on the rom used
Hi
Since i had a replacement from Orange a few weeks ago everything has been - well faster and without problems - and that is with the stock Rom. Loaded all my old apps and have no complaints. Will measure my transfer speed and let you know.

I've noticed transfer speed from SD to PC has become very slow, but this appears to coincide with some of the latest rom builds or possibly wm6.5.x. If you revert back to a stock rom the transfer speed is back to normal
Well SK Tools tells me the write / read to my Sandisk 16gig card is
Write 803.66 KB/sec
Read 6880.18 KB/sec
With data transfer via the cable to my laptop I used CrystalDiskMark to measure and the results were
-------------------------------------------------
CrystalDiskMark 2.2 (C) 2007-2008 hiyohiyo
Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/
--------------------------------------------------
Sequential Read : 6.376 MB/s
Sequential Write : 4.339 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 6.383 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 1.786 MB/s
Random Read 4KB : 1.245 MB/s
Random Write 4KB : 0.021 MB/s
Test Size : 50 MB
Date : 2009/12/23 9:04:00
To confirm I copied a 150MB film from the HD to to PC and it took 24 seconds.
I don't know if any of this helps but as said before I am happy with the speed.

Micro SD HC 16GB Slow trnasfer speed
This is as confusing as it can get...
i can transfer 10MB under 2-3 seconds... but as soon as i go to transfer a 400MB video file i recored on my Samsung Epic in 720HD mode.. it wants to transfer at like 200KB/Sec.. like what's that about.... so i shoot a quick video... with file size of about 5MB.. and it transfered faster than i could blink.... Are these cards like some how restricted to make our larger file transfers a miserable hell to back up to the computer???
Any help wold be appricaited...
My system specs..
Windows Vista ultimate 64bit
Quad core 3.4Ghz ( That can't be an issues lol)
A gigabit mother board with USB 2.0 and 3.0 ( same results from both)
6GB DDR3 Ram
etc.....
Thax...
its the cable you are using
i tried using other cables to connect my hd to the computer and it is slow
and when i tried with the orignail it was faster
so i think you might need to buy a touch hd usb cable
Last Christmas I bought my daughter a Galaxy Tab 4 7 inch (sm-t230nu) from Costco. It works more/less fine for what she needs it to do. For an extra $15 I bought a 32GB SD card. For my (unrestricted) profile, this works fine. I can use apps like Google Play Movies to save/retrieve content using the SD Card. Unfortunately for my daughter's restricted profile, KitKat doesn't allow her to access the SD Card (at least for the apps we've tried this with). This means that her profile can only use the built-in 8GB, which is terrible.
So, while it would be great to root the device and remove Samsung bloatware, I'm curious if it will help my daughters problem with the restricted profile at all. Does anyone know if rooting will fix this issue? In the end I'd love for her to have:
* faster device without samsung apps slowing it down
* still needs google play to download games/apps
* needs to be able to use the SD Card from all apps that permit this
* she needs to do all this within a restricted profile (she's only 4 years old)
Thanks in advance for ANY help!
