"Weather is a Windows Mobile software for getting weather forecast right on your device. It has intuitive and finger-friendly interface. In Winterface weather icon shows either the degrees of the first city in the list or the image that shows whether it is cloudy, snowy, windy etc."
Weather for 100% USA cities & all major world cities
Forecasting for up to ten cities at the same time
Fahrenheit or Celsius temperature
and best of all it is free!

Well, that's two!
I had three major gripes with VITO's Winterface when it came out.
1. No wrap around scrolling. (Now fixed.)
2. No weather. (Finally fixed.)
3. No way to change the background or icons. (They fix this and I'm sold.)
Seems to work ok - but does not update very often.
tested:
- no chance to change background
- forecast only for the next Day !
- no additional informations
- no animations
- no settings for anything
so another vito "milestone" he he, forget it
4.2MB!...I'd expect it to make the tea as well
Instead use weather Watcher Mobile free too
weather watcher looks so ugly and oldschool and is not fingerfriendly
another one that looks better is "handy weather" (not freeware).
I´ve been searching a long time now for a standalone weather application (not a today plugin like weather panel).
there are two new nice apps here but there is some more work to do. So i sit and Wait
I can't satify you all, it seems
I myself basically don't care how it looks. As long as it works good.
I prefer Weatherbugdirect at the moment.
I myself prefer iWeather:

Can weatherface be mapped to a button or it can only be closed be making a V on the screen
what the h... is weatherface Do you mean winterface ? and why do you post a winterface question here and and and...
@hendri..: If i need to pull out a stylus to see the weather it matters how the look and feel is

Updating weather
First of all, sorry for my english.
Since I've installed VITO weather (with Winterface 1.2), the pda (HTC TYTN) often connects to the internet. How can I set properly the connection? I'd like updating the weather when I want and not automatically.
Again sorry for my english.
Thanks.
Ummm, Vito Weather ...
(+) looks good in Winterface panel
(-) no true Winterface plugin. Weather button launches separate app.
(-) takes ages to load
(-) only rudimentary weather data
(-) only limited settings / options
(-) HEAVY memory hog
Not surprisingly, this didn't stay on my PPC for long. But it does look good in Winterface.

Is there a way to add a custom city (by coordinates or something like that?)
Also, is it possible to get a 3 day forecast?

Hi,
I recently picked up an MDA Pro and am pretty happy with it, but there are a couple of things on the Today screen that I'd like to get rid of and can't find out how.
The bottom of the screen has a bar for the softkeys (currently says 'Messages' and 'Calendar') that's a waste of space, and likewise just above that there is a toolbar with battery status/wireless manager/screen rotate that I'd like to ditch. Any ideas how to do this?
Separately, are there any today plugins that give you the ability to crush down the # of messages and tasks to a single line rather than the current individual items?
Cheers,
Jim.
I don't use WM2005, however, have a look for my program, TodayToggle (which is not entirely WM2005 compatible: it doesn't hide the softbutton menu bar; I've purposely NOT tried to hide it because it's there for a reason. Would it be useful to hide it? When I get WM2005 I'll think about it).
For better control of task and alarms etc, look into alarmtoday by pocketmax. 3rd plugin down here:

vijay, u have some AWESOME looking features going on there. Please can you tell us what you're using for:
- What is giving you all the icons in the top bar?
- Which app are you using for the calendar summary?
- What is the second-last plugin and what does it do?
craigiecraigie4 - have a look at the second post here for some shots of my setup http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26468
The bar at the top is just PhoneAlarm using a skin I made, and using a hack I made called ToggleToday. Both are described in detail here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27331
Toggletoday will minimise the Startbar to a tiny 2 pixel high bar, and then allow your today screen to show through. So you get phonealarm on every page. It should work in QVGA on the Universal, although I'll be sorting out VGA and full WM2005 support when I get a WM2005 device (shortly I hope).
The second to last plugin is claunch set up with shortcuts to dial or sms my better half - they use tools I wrote called VJSMS and VJDialer, both available in the development forum; http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26972.
I use a dual sim, so claunch is also set to allow me to switch sims (not visible on screen) - the plugin after phonealarm is a plugin i wrote to show my current operator, o2 UK and Orange UK.
The calendar summary is using AlarmToday by Pocketmax (phonealarm guy) but hacked a little to suit my theme better.
V
PS - this is my old screen! I've improved one or two things since, will try to post some new pics soonish.
Hmm... not quite what I was after. Here's a screenshot of my today page with the things that I don't like about it:
Items that I'd like to fix:
1 - combine these into a single line item
2 - get rid of the softbar (using a softkey for messages is a waste as there's already a hardkey for this and the calendar is already on the today screen)
3 - get rid of this line of icons (again duplicated information/functionality)
I tried your software but it doesn't seem to work with the MDA Pro: the screen ends up somewhat distored with the messages part of the today screen showing through to other apps and the right-hand 20% or so of the screen no longer updating - suspect a WM2005 prob somewhere.
Any other ideas?
Okay so not a perfect fix but I've found out how to change the softkeys on the Today screen and posted the details at http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=140027
What are ppl using for today plugin Launchers?
I have PHM traylaunch but i want something i can easily hit with my thumb.
Just trying to see what ppl recommend.
Could you also indicate whether its freeware or buy.
Thank you.
claunch. Free and customisable.

I also use other plugins that I haven't released yet.

Wow you're screen's nice!!
What did you use to get all the essential indicators on your Top most Start bar? i.e. Missed Phone Call, SmS indicator and voicemail, those are really handy.
Also what app gives you the giant Time and date and temperature?
I'd be happy to get a screen even half as functional as yours.
rxr - the screenshot above is an older version of my Today screen, but it's stable.
When I'm feeling adventurous, I use a plugin that's in ongoing development (slowly) called VJEphemeris, combining various old and new features of my various plugins:
The bar at the top is using my app/trick called VJToggleToday to hide the start bar (actualy minimise it to the top 2 pixels), and then replace the start bar with PhoneAlarm. I'm not sure if PhoneAlarm is fully WM5 yet, this screenshot is from WM2003, my main phone.
The plugin giving the large date and temp on the earlier screenshot is something called VJAudioNotes, which has also been upgraded slightly, but is being replaced by VJEphemeris. It's mainly designed because I use a dual SIM, and I need to know which operator I'm running on easily. Unforunately I don't think it's fully WM5 compatible yet, but since I don't use a WM5 day to day, I've not investigated it yet.
Also hidden away there is NotesToday with a custom skin, not shown (the small dot under the QOTD plugin, and beneath that an unreleased spacer plugin called VJTodaySpacer.
I tested many many plugins before I settled on my combinations. I like them, they're stable and functional for me. People will have personal preferences... but I like a usable but informative Today screen. Pretty pictures of naked women aren't helpful when glancing at the Today screen during a meeting

Using a customized HTCTODAY

Just does what I want and its small!

With your permission i'd be more than willing to test it out on my WM5 device
There are a couple of programs which modify the way the today screen appears:
1. No Plugins Today: toggles on/off items/plugin on today screen for a fresh looking today screen (http://www.ictinus.com/NoPluginsToday/)
2. Vijay555's Toggletoday which enables a 16% larger screen
Is there way to combine the functionality of both programs into one. The purpose of this program is to:
1. Lower memory usage and mabe even save a little battery power
2. Allows for clear view of the today image
It might be possible to combine No Plugins Today with VJToggleToday, but is it necessary? It seems to me that although their usage is complimentary, building it into one program doesn't really help. Just run No Plugins Today when you need it, or my app when you need it.
If there's demand though, I'll consider building it in perhaps.
V
No today --> multiple today
Hi Guys,
I don't know if this is an idea. The no today screen plugin seems like a good idea. But how about switching between 2 different today screens. So it's possible to have for instance an today screen with the calender and tasks and other usefull plugin that have to do with dates etc. and a second today screen where you get all the information about ur pda e.g. battery, birthdays, overclocking, etc. or even communication today screen versus datebook today screen. I think you will understand what i mean.
I'm currently using the Orange homescreen plugin, but would love to have a hardware button assigned to switch between the trad. today screen and the orange one.
Maybe it is possible with no today screen haven't tested it yet. if it is disregard this message.
Cheers,
Shah

thanks Vjiay,

By the way do you also do request programs? because I had an idea to expand the Orange Homescreen application with certain extra items. Or do you know any programmers who would be interested.

You can try SK Today Commander (beta)
This can do 2-9 today screen profiles
We plan release it in nearest time.

Hello everybody !
After numerous attempts to customize my HTC trinity for a thumb-based experience, I finally got onto some applications that really do the job :
- Tene's PocketCM for the contacts
- ArticCat's OTO for the calendar (works well so far, however I hope to see more of it soon)
- Paulya's Vista II dialer replacement
- A_C's S2U for the lock and S2V for the pics viewer
- HTC's PhonePad for the SIP and Mediaplayer for the music player
- SPB's Mobile Shell for the navigation and the menus.
What I'm missing is a launcher that would work as a today plugin, and that would support large icons in PNG format (thus, with alpha transparency). By "big" I mean "larger than the default 32x32 pixels that all launchers support" - 48 or 60 pixels beeing the size I'm after (something large enough for my fat thumbs ). I don't need tab support, since there are only a small number of apps I want to access from the today screen (typically 8-12).
Do you know if anything that'd meet my needs exists for WM5? Even for a small/reasonable fee (means, around 10-15$) ?
Thanks a million in advance !
I think i used claunch to put a really big shortcut (64x64px) on my todayscreen

ThrottleLauncher
Search for the ThrottleLauncher thread here. No Today plugin yet but all indications are that it will be coming. Great launcher, you can size the rows the pictures are in to any size you wish. I am using 56picsels by 56picsels.
pocketage - no size limit
I tried to install PocketAge from the latest CAB I could find on this board, but something must have gone bad... My Trinity is now stuck as reboot
Everytime I soft-reset it, it got stuck then block at the following step :

}
Of course, none of the hard or soft buttons work and I can't dismiss this reminder. I tried to remove the corresponding event from outlook but I couldn't manage to sync the device. I noticed I can access the device filesystem. One strange thing, though, makes me thing that the system is not completely frozen : the clock on the reminder changes and shows the correct time.
Any idea how to recover my phone without having to hard-reset it ? Thanks !!!

Hey everybody,
I have a little question for you. I hope this is the right forum for my question
I’m searching for an alternative for my HTC Home screen and Cube. I have personalized the Home screen so far. But now I’m searching for a good alternative.
So I want you to give me an advice for a good application. What I want to use is the plug-in for the Home zone from o2 and Battery status. I want to look for the expend minutes, SMS, and the traffic.
Thank you for your help.

******Danger Zone****** Search PointUI before instaling if you are new.
UltimateLaunch, make your today screen a cube.
Use Spb Mobile Shell
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?de
And thus, the three battlefronts were broght up, all in a row.
Use PointUI if customization doesn't really matter to you, and good looks with sparse information is tolerable
Use UL if you like to customize the heck out of your device, and spending time doing that is ok
As for mobile shell, I've heard great things, but can't say I've used it before. Anyone want to chime in?
UL and Pointui is free but SPB Mobile Shell is not... I like SPB Mobile Shell better...
throttlelauncher
After I've started to use ThrottleLauncher in my roms I have removed the htc Home, cube, action screen and the quick list.... and soon I will not be needing the comm manager because I can do everything from throttle. So I have removed more then 10 MB from my roms and replaced it with less then 1MB with my setup of Throttle .
The next version of Throttle will be so amazing that when you tried it you can't live without it again.
just a little screen form my setup
