Questions: Audio Manager, Texting with Attachments, GPS??? - Touch CDMA General

A few questions hopefully some of you vets can answer:
First, I have the Alltel version of the HTC Touch. When I click on Device Info the model number is: VOGU100.
So am I in the correct forum?
Questions:
1. Just downloaded Audio Manager, how do I make it my default player instead of Windows Media Player. When I use the cube, I want it to default to Audio Manager
2. How do you send attachments in Text. When I click, the "Insert" is grayed out.
3. I see that there is a GPS Icon. Is this thing GPS capable? Do I just contact Alltel for the service?
Thanks!

yes ur in the right place.
1. not quite sure how to do that. i use the manilla 2d, and in the music tab it uses audio manager by default.
2. most of the time u will have to send attachments in email. or u can use the search in the forum. its been talked about in a few places. its a smms cab file.
3. for gps, i upgraded to winmo 6.1, and it is included there. hope that helped enough.
im pretty new myself, and hate when ppl dont reply. jus figuring things out 1 step at a time.

I'll have to check out that manilla 2d. I updated my Rom to the 6.1 version this morning.
So I'm making progress. Thanks again.

vogue
the vogue or xv6900 is the htc touch. you can modify the cube using this tool from ppcgeeks. It works on the verizon touch also.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=12746
manila 2d is what i call a theme. i am not sure if that is the correct term for it. there are a bunch of these out there that you can try some for free some trial then pay. sbmobile shell is a nice one. pointui is another, touchcommander is another (one i am currently playing with), manila 2d is another, iphonz is another. do a google search and you will find the cabs for these. the manila 2d i used was difficult to remove so i did a hard reset to remove it. sb, pointui, iphonz were easy to remove. iphonz takes alot of work to set up.
also you can get skins and set up these themes to operate differently. i like robodads sbmobile shell theme that i think came from this site. it is really nice. have fun.

Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong with trying to play youtube vids?
I downloaded TCPMP and a Flash file, but I keep getting this error:
crash.txt
error
I just can't seem to find a fix. Do I have a old version of TCPMP? TCPMP will not open at all, it gives the crash.txt.
Thanks,
Eric

[REQ] HTC touch apps

i have a tmobile Wing running wm6 and i have tried all htc touch apps on this website and they dont work for me... can someone either upload working apps(like the contact manager, the comm. manager, the cube thing) or upload a working ROM of the HTC touch(which will work on the WING) for the 64 bit computer??
how are you installing them?
you realise you put the cab file onto the phone then execute it there rather than your pc right?
thats the impression i get from your post...
yes i know that, i am not a nub... i have installed many apps, but they end up screwing up my phone cause it works so slowly
bump ...
All the HTC touch apps that I found from explode, they all work fine on my SX66.
Can you describe more about your phone, and how you install the application?
What symptom/behaviour are you seeing on your phone?
well, i transfer it to my storage card, and then run it. later i get a successfully installed message. i soft-reset my phone and then either the program doesn't start up, puts my phhone in a infinate reset mode, or doesnt work correctly.
the htc cube is installed, but i can see the cube! i see this S icon, and a P icon when i slide my finger from bottom to up . since it didnt work, i unistalled it.
the contact manager from the all htc apps extracted sticky starts up, but i cannot change the theme! i see the regular old contacts manager with a white bar, when i run my finger over it, it shows a letter, and scrolls to it, but doesnt have the touch interface i need, and its not graphical at all
and the comm. manager REMOVES my comm. manager, rather than adding one
i am running wm6, boots fine now, the following htc apps
-audio manager
-htc touch theme
-htc album
-htc touch skin for wmp
-spb backup
-htc touch wait cursor(got from freewarepocketpc.net)
that should explain a lot

explode? can you please post some links and i will try them and replay asap
The 'htc cube' your talkin about is not the actual cube. its called FTouchFlo and is used to scroll and launch programs by using gestures. the changing between s and p is changing between launching mode and scrolling mode. What your looking for is the TouchFlo cube, which i belive must be cooked into a rom to work well. there are other options out there that can be cab installed, just search around the forums.
u mean something like this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343583
i tried that but in the instructions, i dont know what the prequisites are n i dont have em
i copied the shortcuts to the startup folder and then i ran the program in the folder containting the exe file that came with the zip
can someone post a cab, that i run, and will configure my phone that it works... i dont want to do the "remove the following apps from the startup folder...", the cab file should do that...
i also have problem with touchflo. i saw a lot of threads on it and i dun know which 1 i have to follow and install.
and if any expert here can help me.
1. i am on wm6. not htc theme.
2. i am on wisbar and wisbar desktop
3. device is atom life.
and i want to use the touchflo. can anyone assist me?
can i do the swiping even my screen is on the wisbar?
can anyone help me with this.
help is greatly appreciated.
thanks!
htc theme is not an operating system. it just alters the way it looks. im runnign wm6 also
wisbar is okay and i dont think it affects touchflo, except wisbar uses up too much memory
so who ever has touchflo working on wm6, can u please post a link to the file, and specific instructions on how to install?

come on ppl, i am sure that someone has gotten touchflo to work

will probable be a noob question

hey ppl
got myself a HTC Diamond touch a few weeks ago and so far i love the fone am in Australia so i had to buy the telstra one its unlocked but still has the telstra pre loaded stuff.
i am a vodafone user and have got the VF MMS and internet working
not interested in a cooked rom yet.
but here is my questions.
how do i use the iphone theme on this rom?
cant find manila folder, is it hidden if so how do i make it un hidden.
aslo in botom left corner it has bigpond link on the bar how can i change this to say contacts or even messages?
cheers guys
i did try using search but couldnt find a clear cut answer, think it came down to the words i am using to search.
oh well anyone with help thanks.
Which iphone theme to you mean?
There is no folder for the manila files, they are all in the Windows folder. If the theme has just these manila files, you need to use a program like total commander to copy the files from the theme's folder, straight into the windows folder, overwriting everything.
then soft re-set, and you should be all good.
If it is a .theme file, then you need to download TF3D Config, save the .theme file to a folder on the phone, and then point the program to the folder. Then, the program will do it all for you, and its easy to change back if you need to.
Hope that helps!
Hi mate,
As above for changing your themes.
The only other extra note to add to that is the simplicity of cabs. Just run the file and it will install for you.
I did the hard work for you:
If you want an iPhone style theme - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425956&highlight=iphone+icons
Alternative small round iPhone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437100&highlight=iphone+icons
And lastly for the Bigpond softkey, you want this program - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2485292#post2485292
Grab the .cab file.
I also strongly suggest a cooked ROM. Once you get rid of that Tel**** ROM you won't look back
Cheers,
Byron.
Hey Uziel,
What did you have to do to get mms and internet working? I have similar issue but I am with virginmobile. Haven't been able to get mms or internet working yet. Not sure if it is some telstra settings stuffing the connection up.
Just a general question that you suggested dickenz. What cooked ROM would you suggest for us with Tel**** ROM's?
Cheers
iFonz
I use iFonz - quite fun and customisable....makes my iPhone friends chuckle...

Hi biggirdz,
For the virginmobile settings - My suggestion is to give Virgin a call and tell them you have a Windows Mobile 6.1 device (don't state it's a Diamond as they don't have Touch Diamonds yet I don't think and they might turn you away as it is 'unsupported') and tell them you want to set up MMS and internet.
EDIT: Just had a thought. If you have a Telstra Diamond with a Virgin SIM I think you'll need to create a completely secondary connection. Again, Virgin ***SHOULD*** be able to run you through this over the phone. Maybe even go on their website and see which Windows mobile devices they do have and tell them it's one of those so you get the settings out of them you want.
I'd go for Panosha 2.4 if you want a 'finished' ROM. But if you don't mind one in the testing phase dutty's is excellent aswell.
I am currently using udK's but he has only had 2 releases so far. However I am very impressed. There are a few bugs but I am sure udK will iron them out in future releases.

mp3trimmer already comes WITH itje's rom. no need to install it again. which "social network engine" are you talking about?
you'll find all programs if you click "start" (upper left) and then "all programs" (lower left).
I used this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442154 to get the cabs and installed them. Cant find the option to trim MP3s at all. and i downloaded the Touch-It Blackstone Social Network engine. Any ideas?
Im hoping that by downloading the engine that the social networking sites would pop up under the internet tab where youtube is...you know where i mean?
oh, my mistake. you installed the cab and not his rom with manila cooked in...
okay, i'm sorry, but i never used stock rom with manila-cab. but i can tell you this:
- manila works best if cooked in, use a custom rom (i.e. itje's touch-it v.10. but there are many good roms, have a look in the rom-developing-part)
- the cab you used is from november 2008, there's a newer version out now
- "social engine": never saw it in the internet tab, it connects your contacts with a corresponding facebook-friend.
so, bottom line:
programs should show where i told you above, even in the cab i think. and: manila as a cab is slow, cooked-in it flies these days.

I am LOST, however up for installing whatever makes it run that little bit smoother! I like the look of manila i am using now but if there is an upto date one then i can give that a go.
I havent found the ROM you suggested but will keep looking, the first thread i came across (the main one) seems to have the download links removed, any ideas?
Thanks so far mate, youve been a star
Ahhhh think i have found the ROM now just waiting for the file to download now for the installation...

typing this from my mobile, so to keep it short:
- you need to apply "hard-spl" first to flash a custom rom (it's a sticky)
- if you're flashing itje's v.10.2, be aware that there is a bug for some people with sending sms. i NEVER had it though. also you'll need to apply 2 or 3 fixes.
- READ READ READ!
if you're going to flash ANY custom rom you'll have to learn a lot. "just install and everything's perfect" won't work. and everytime you flash a new rom you'll loose all data on your phone, so make backup first!!!
if you're willing to get into this - do it. it's worth it and it will really improve your x1. if you want to have everything working out of the box with many restrictions - apple makes such a device...
Ill let you know how i get on, im just loading 10.2 now so we shall see

have fun then.
hope you did a backup of your data - if not, don't come yelling if it's all gone...
edit: the fixes needed
since the thread on v10 is pretty much to read (it started as v7...), for starters the 3 fixes needed with this version.
- Advanced Network (found in itje's first post, under the dl-link for the rom itself)
- "v10.2_corrected_highlights.zip" (also posted by itje, somewhere in the thread, search for it)
extract the files in these two zips to your \windows-directory (on your x1) with total commander (comes with the rom)
- v10.2_smaberg_1_percent_battery.cab (install normally. this fixes a bug that the battery-meter always shows 100% full. alternatively you could install another icon-set from this forum. watch out if they're for WinMob 6.1 or 6.5 though!)
the cooked-in build of opera mobile 9.5 doesn't work with the hardware-keyboard of xperia. either install build 16194 (iit's from an official x1-rom) or try opera mobile 9.7 beta.
every other question you should ask in the thread of the rom you've chosen.
this should set you up, from here on it's all tweaking, lots of reading, learning and adding apps to your likeness.
i have a problem like this one: i installed the touch it manila cab and then i installed the touch it htc album but... i cannot find the program... what do i have to do?
EDIT: ok i found two exe files in the windows folder wich are : HTCAlbum.exe and AlbumSearch.exe, and when i run each of them i have HTC Album... btw the problem is that i have no text in the menus... what may be the problem?
Thanks for all the advice guys...im installed and up and running and so far so good, no issues at all, the sms seems to be working fine etc.
Ill apply the fixes as noted so far as and when i come across the issues!
Cheers again all

[Files requested] Manila 2.5 bluetooth headset control + HTC Audio

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones by Sony (DR-BT21G) with media controls (AVRCP). This has always worked perfectly with the HTC Audio Manager throughout many ROMS (the default and Dutty's) but I upgraded to WM6.5 this weekend and it no longer works. Now, any time I try to use the controls, Windows Media Player fires up and takes over. Is there any way to change this or to manually set this back to the HTC Audio Manager? Listening to music is probably what I do most with my HD so this is probably reason enough for me to go back to a different ROM if I can't figure this out.
I've searched like crazy and it seems to happen to the WM6.5 Energy ROMs too, so it must be a general WM6.5/Manilla problem. So far, I've tried looking through all the settings in HD Tweak and Advanced Config, as well as changing the 0 and 1 keys in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:WMPLAYER to point to AudioManager_Eng.exe, but none of that worked.
Does anyone have any other ideas?
Edit: Slowly, it seems to be becoming clearer that the Bluetooth Driver might be (part of) the solution. Any assistance in getting different versions of the BTHCI.DLL file or more insight would be great! If you have a Manila 2.5 ROM with working bluetooth control, please take a minute to share your driver with us!
I have exactly the same problem and I've posted about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566157&highlight=AVRCP

Same here with Dutty R5.
A fix would be great.
I worked pretty hard at trying to find a solution but to no avail. I found that there's a key in the registry that refers to a bluetooth plugin for WMP, but deleting it had no effect and I don't think there's a simple way to get rid of the actual plugin. Doing so also still doesn't guarantee that AudioManager will take over. Maybe if someone takes the time to try swapping out files between (for example) Dutty's WM6.1 v4.3 and Dutty's WM6.5 Leo R5, it might work. Particularly, swapping out AudioManager_Eng.exe and all WMP files and registry settings might work. Just an idea! I'd do it myself, but considering crazy work hours, my need for a working phone and problems I've been having with 6.5 it will be a while before I can do more on this.
I was also using Dutty's Leo R5 but due to major stability issues which seemed to be primarily related to importing contacts and texts (through either PIM or "My Phone"). I'll miss the twitter tab and all the neat features of the new manila and WM6.5 improvements but for now Dutty's v4.3 Final is just so much faster, more reliable and doesn't have the bluetooth problem.
Unless some smart guy figures this one out, I think we can best just hope for it to be resolved in a future rom with a fix in the new Manila.
The question for me is: Is this problem on all 6.5 ROMs??? I thought I had tried a 6.5 ROM before without this issue... but I might be wrong...
Am I right in assuming you returned to Dutty's 6.1 ROM? Because then I would flash a 6.5 ROM and we could test replacing files: You upload them here and I try replacing them on my Blackstone!
Update: I just flashed PhamQuang's V67 (a 6.5 ROM with Manila 2.1) - and guess what: My BT-headset controls the TF3D music player!
So maybe this is not a 6.1 vs. 6.5 problem, but rather a Manila 2.1 vs. 2.5 problem? Or it just depends on what ROM you are using and if the cook has done his magic correctly?
Great news! I'm glad you have it working and it narrows the problem down a bit.
So it seems that for now, bluetooth music lovers should steer clear of M2.5. I'd think it's a Manila 2.5 problem considering it works on all Manila 2.1 versions I've tried so far and on PhamQuang's V67 ROM with WM6.5 that you're using. I still wonder if swapping files between Manila 2.1 and 2.5 would be possible, but after using WM6.1 and Manila 2.1 for a day I'm hooked on the speed and won't be going back to Manila 2.5 until some major speed improvements have been made. (Or am I mistaken and is WM6.5 the laggy culprit?)
Considering you have your headset working with PhamQuang's V67 and it runs WM6.5, I'd like to wander off topic a bit and ask how you like that one? Has it been fast and stable so far? I've been pretty happy and faithful to Dutty's work but if there's something better out there (with working bluetooth to HTC's AM) I'm definitely game! I especially miss the smoother kinetic scrolling of WM6.5 and the wonderful Twitter tab in Manila 2.5. I guess I'll just have to be patient for that last one considering it seems you can't have everything.
Fix. thx to Gooru from xda-developers.info
Awesome! Thanks NewFolk! I'm glad there's a solution and hopefully it will help anyone who's searching for it. I can't test whether it works on Dutty's Leo R5 at the moment but I'll take your word for it
At least this is one less reason to avoid WM6.5 + M2.5!

PhamQuang's ROMs aren't the fastest ones out there, which is why I'll switch to a different 6.5 ROM or back to Topix (the best 6.1 ROM I've tried) as soon as I get my LCD replacement (I managed to break my LCD screen while attempting to exchange the touchscreen... )

Didn't work for me on Miri's V10, still launching WMP. Still looking for a solution.
Wow, sorry to hear about your screen, MAMeingast. I wouldn't dare attempt that with my dear HD, although I do wish it had a capacitive screen. I haven't touched my stylus in months.
If I can get Sashimi to do decent backups and automated installs, I might be able to experiment with ROMs more freely, but for now XML provisioning and other settings restorations don't seem to work well and reflashing and configuring still takes a few hours each time. I might try a full backup of my current setup this weekend and test a few Manila 2.5 ROMs. Maybe I can pinpoint what the differences are between the working and non-working BT configurations are and make a cab to fix it. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a method to monitor file or registry key access so I can't see what's active during BT headset pairing. In other words, getting that together will have to be a pretty labor intensive process.
The cab file simply contains a version of the BTHCI.dll driver file. I haven't been able to find Gooru's original post (using Google translate considering the site's all Russian), so I don't know which ROM(s) the cab file is meant for, where the file comes from or which build of WM it is included in. A quick search turned up this post by Da_G from way back in May, noting that the 216xx WM6.5 build comes with a BTHCI.dll version that isn't bound to WMP. How the binding is done isn't clear to me, but it's possible that the currently running media player (usually AudioManager_Eng.exe) would accept the input without extra configuration. If people can grab that version (see below) and post results here (or any other versions for that matter... it can't hurt to try more!), we could see if it fixes the problem. It's starting to look like that file is indeed the culprit, so good news there!
Thinking out loud: If it turns out to be more than just the driver, I might try replacing the dll on Dutty's Leo R5 first, followed by others until I find a Manila 2.5 that the cab file fixes. If that works, I can dump the file system and registry before the fix, and the file system and registry of other uncabbed ROMs to see if a general fix can be made and hopefully pass that along to Dutty and the other cooks to add to future releases. If anyone is running a Manila 2.5, please try installing the cab and posting your results. It would be additionally helpful to let us know which version (or date and size) your original BTHCI.dll is.

I'm sorry to hear that. Naturally, I hoped someone had come up with a general fix, but we'll keep looking. I changed the topic title back from [Solved] considering it didn't work for you. If you find out more, let us know! Maybe you can help with the dll questions, considering you're running a 2.5 ROM.
Edit: Found a download of the proposed older working BTHCI.dll! Try the cab from this post and let us know if it works for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3807872&postcount=114
It should be uninstallable, but I still recommend backing up your original. You can never be too careful, right?
neither #8, nor #12 can fix my problem, ROM udk Leo R3. still looking for solution...

Hi elammertsma,
I've already tried the T-Back 6.5 BT Driver.cab, still launches WMP so I'm guessing there's more to this than just the version of BTHCI.dll. The BTHCI.dll included in Miri's V10 ROM is dated 01/10/09 16:31 (although that may be the date I installed the ROM, not sure) and is 63K in size. Hope this helps.
seems the bthci.dll is a rom file, and prevent copy? I try to copy the file from a rom which headset could interface with manila audiomanager, but fail - say the file in not allow to copy...

You'll need to use another file manager like Total Commander or Resco File Explorer to copy the BTHCI.dll file

I'm using the Resco, but still same problem. Properties of the bthci.dll is checked for hide/ready/sys/rom. It can not be seen both in WM file explorer and Resco, but in Resco search for the name you can find it. I try to copy via Resco, it said copy fail...

For mine:
1. BTfix.cab, still activate WMP, and seems no change at all.
- I try WMP, my headset is still interface with it, works well.
- Manila audio - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
- CorePlayer - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
2. T-Back 6.5 BT Driver.cab, not activate the WMP any more, and others unchanged.
- I try WMP, need manually open WMP first, and my headset is still interface with it, works well.
- Manila audio - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
- CorePlayer - sound was transferred to headset but interface no.
being a bluetoth headphones ower to i ued the htc audio player too. im using nrgz photon rom 11.10.09 manilla 2.1. the default launched audio player from headphones is media player. tried this fix it dont fix it. yes i know its for m.2.5 i was just hoping it would work.
guess i will have to make playlists there instead. i remember there being issues with Wmp it wouldnt recognise all my content. like eminem album i got from play.com. all my own cd rips are good though lol. i will post a fix if i find one. i got a cab. the for s2p which is called tback but all that does is the opposite and unlocks the htc audiomanager and reverts to WMP or s2p. ive looked at nitrogen but unable to find anyway to make headphones work.
My Observations on this
Now my observations on this is that it was not happening on NRG Leo release 14092009 (think it may have been the last Genisis version). We know that NRG's rom platform on 23016 is rock solid as he has stated that many times so I'm suspecting it must be something in the lastest M2.5 version 1919xxx or another package addition as it seems to be effecting all the current Roms running this version of the Leo Manilla. I'm really suspecting that it is something in the way M2.5 HTC audio player is interfacing with WMP but that is just my humble non technical opinion
Can't find if BT stack has been updated in all of this. Bit of a bugger as I have the same issue in the my current version 23092009 release and it is also in the 11102009 release. Hope NRG can take a look at this as I use my BT headset constantly or my bit helps in some small way in finding a solution. In the meantime I'm falling way back to 14092009 NRG Leo version.

Transparent stuff and videos

I just got my HTC Touch Pro 2 2 months ago, and it came with Mobile 6.5. Ever since, I've been screwing with it, and I just landed on this forum as well as some other sites. I'm seeing people using words like TF3D, Manila, Sense, etc, which I have no idea what they are.
I'm just trying to figure out how to make my clock transparent, background on all pages and play divx/xvid videos. I found a 9 page long BG for all pages thread, and I found a cab that worked to make all pages the wallpaper, but it messed up my clock in the process. The accompanying cab to restore the clock didn't work. The screenshot of the clock is attached to this post.
I noticed no divx/xvid capability in WMP just like the Windows for Desktops, but it seems like getting those videos to play was more complicated than I thought. I tried the divx player which is just slow. Can someone guide a newbie around?
The easiest way...
Deleted as the post did not apply to Sense 2.1
He isn't using manila 2.5.
Sense/manila are the same thing, it's just that older versions of manila were called the TouchFlo (TF3D) and the newest builds which are manila 2.1 and manila 2.5 are also referred to as sense 2.1 and sense 2.5. How you can tell which you have is going on the settings tab and looking at the "About" (or something lol sorry) and it should say. Another way is seeing as how you don't have any shortcut buttons on your Home tab means 2.1 .
Sorry I can't help you with your clock issue, try looking up "sense 2.1 clock" and try installing one but keep in mine the details as to what else will be installed along side the clock .
Get TCPMP for playing videos. It won't play everything, but is far better then WMP. Best player around for the TP2.

If the cab you installed messed up your clock, try uninstalling the cab.
Got transparent clock and BG on all pages working for 2.1, using the 3 cabs I've attached.
Only things left I'm working on are 1% battery meter and the 1:02 clock flip fix. I found a clock cab I'll install now. The battery meter I heard requires custom taskbars to show it? Just gotta dig around more to find out which ones will work.

be careful about what you try to use! check your manila version. most of cookies stuff is for 2.5, as well as most of the stuff on here and it can bite you if your not careful(had to do several hard resets when i got mine because i did't read) i got my phone in feb. but it still has 2.1 so unless your ready to flash a rom to upgrade, store all of your cabs on your storage card to save yourself some headaches.
Sorry about that. I didn't realize you were using Sense 2.1. Hopefully no damage done.

No worries. Still learning about this stuff myself. Working on getting stuff off my ipod and onto my phone but I have a handful of DRM protected things. That's a bit more complicated than I thought. Once I can work around that, get my usb -> headset adapter and a fm transmitter, I'll have succeeded in combining my Samsung Gravity, iPod Nano, and iPod Touch into one device: HTC Touch Pro 2.
