Scientifically put.......an enormous pain in the arse.
Really awkward fit - I tried several times [very very carefully] and STILL ended up with a very small 'bubble' strip on the bottom rhs of the screen
I'll have a look at the Brando ones - I was waiting for a Martin Fields one to come out (as they do a great one for my Diamond)

I imagine they would all be a pain to apply with a screen that large.

just ordered this. good price. will report back

The ones from brando are excellent, probably the best screen protector.
I've bought them since the days of the SE P800 and no complain at all

I've always like PPCTechs AG protectors because they have a matt finish. They last for years and make a nice finish to reduce glare/reflections. But it looks like they won't be offering one for this device at the moment.
Can anyone recommend something similar?
Many thanks,

I just got my "BW PDA Screen Protector (HTC Touch HD)" Brando brand screen protector. I'm not a big fan. The camera hole isn't a hole it's a U shaped notch. The speaker hole is quite big. The corners don't follow the curves of the phone and it's about 1mm short on the bottom. The one I got was the anti-glare version. I think it might work (anti-glare) but I won't put it on as I think it would make the phone look cheap due to the bad fit. I've had good experiences with Exim brand protectors in the past. Looks like I'll give them a go again. Mind you they are more expensive.

what do you use to clean the screen of HD before apply brando cover to prevent air bubble?

Another vote for Brando - must be the ultraclear.
Only complaint is that the Brando seems to gather a few more finger prints than the native screen.
The in box screen protector from HTC is rubbish !

screen protector
Does anyone know of one that protects the whole body. I find taking it out of a pouch always ends up answering the call. So probably going to discard the pouch if I can get a good fully body protector.

Does anyone know if invisibleshield from ZAGG is any good?
I believe there isn't a version for the HD yet, but it will come in the future

Do you know what button is pressed?
I thought the answer button was capacitive and could only be activated with finger press and not with other object pressure.
Could you test if you can press the aswer button with the pen or other object? TIA
PS: I don't have the HD yet.

It's resistive, not capacative. You can use the stylus for example to push the button

Being resistive defeats the purpouse of having a slider in the touchscreen to answer the call

whats the best screen protector and where can purchase get it from? (for the Exec)
cheers
Brando is good. From HongKong.
Expansys also sell good screenprotectors. Around £8

Here's the best solution....I bought a pack of 15 screen protectors (thats right!) for just around 15 USDs! The quality is great, and I have no issues....
Look around for Ultra-Slim Screen protectors from Pocket Solutions for the I-mate Jasjar, and you should find it....if you're having trouble finding the url, let me know and I could help ;-)
cheers,
San
Another thing that I forgot to mention is that, it uses "static" to cling on to the screen and NO adhesives...this ensures that it doesn't ruin your display!
I also love these, as they extremely slim making it seem as if you had no screen protector installed! I think their line of products are branded under the name ScreenGuardZ....
San
Before you put a screen protector on, I would guess that you should clean the screen first - otherwise you are just trapping dirt under the screen protector.
My question is...what do you use to clean the screen with? I don't use screen protectors and would be interested in finding out what to use to clean the screen with. Any thoughts?

Whats the best tip for getting them on without bubbles ? Put one on my wizard and its bubble city.
My tips would be:
1. Make sure your screen is as clean and dust free as possible.
2. Peel just a little of the backing off from one end and offer up the screen protector to the screen.
3. Peel the backing off, and as you do so the protector will attach to the screen.
4. If have bubbles then lift a little and re-apply using something flat/smooth to push it down (DON'T PRESS TOO HARD - YOU WILL DAMAGE YOUR SCREEN).
5. If you have dust under there, a straightened paper clip with a blob of Blu-Tac on the end will be able to reach in and get the dust as you lift the protector.
6. If you need to lift the protector, don't try to use something to prize the edge up - you will mark the protector, just use cellotape (clear sticky tape) on the protector, and pull on that - it will pull the protector up.
Cheers,
Steve.

Manufacturing / design defect (clear plastic)

I have my X7500 now for a week, and am a satisfied customer.
Except for one thing: after only a week the clear plastic on my keyboard is misted all over because it is scratching so heavily from useage (when you click the machine into the keyboard, especially in the case, it is almost unavoidable the clear plastic part will be scratched by the machine).
I have sent HTC a message that this is not acceptable for a € 1000 machine, and customer service will come back to me.
You must all have this same issue, can you please comment?

Yep - mine is the same. Disappointed that the keyboard doesn't really fit comfortably in the case on the front of the device either (slips to one side or the other..).
the case is indeed not good, but this can be expected, you will need to buy a good case from a third party vendor. Piel Frama will have first samples in about 2 weeks, and I will guarantee you up front they will fit perfectly...
Try using a screen protector on that part ,thats what i'm planning of doing. i will try it and let you guys know how it goes.
I agree with that potential solution, but then HTC will at least need to replace the keyboard with a unscratched one

Slight scratches, I noticed it happening and altered how I handled the device. Also the PDair case I'm using seems to have less of a problem with it. I don't use the keyboard as a cover, of course, because it is in a case (though as in the comment after yours, the supplied case is VERY annoying in the way that the keyboard slips from one side to the other).
What can they do, though? It's partly due to the way people slide the Athena "around" to drop into the keyboard, rather than lifting it. I personally find the whole "viewing window" business utterly redundant - I can't see it in the case, it wastes backlight (whole display illuminated).

Why, are they using a magentic attachment for the keyboard? Because the PDair case sucks after a couple of weeks of light use; the plastic distorts and presses several keys at once.
I want a case with a phrase custom-embossed on it
You could always fit a body shield - protects that part perfectly.
I've had the same problem
I've attached a picture of my keyboard to show the problem. In my case, it appears the scratching is coming from the relatively sharp chrome/metal "frame" around the screen. It's slighly proud (above) of the black plastic surface and when the keyboard is moved over the device it scrapes/gouges the clear plastic. My current plan is to just wait until it's gouged out all the plastic and then polish the clear plastic smooth again. But is sure would be nice to have a more appropriate fix from HTC for such and expensive device.

[REVIEW] Nushield Screen Protector for Kaiser

My review of the screen protector from Nushield.
(Purchased 2 anti glare, 1 clear model screen protector [comes in a package of 3 only]~ 12 USD)
Install:
-Installation is pretty straightforward but requires some experimenting to get the film in.(Doesn't use a sticky film, but rather a slide in)
-Warning, Make sure that there is no dust under the screen! It is a pain to take out. Trust me i know, i accidently wasted a film by bending it to take it out.
-When you first get the product, u might think that the screen protector they sent you wasn't yours since it looked to big to be fitted in. But actually it fits perfectly once u manage to slide all sides in.
Sensitivity loss:
-On a scale of 10(10 meaning no sensitivity, and 0 meaning no screen protector) it receives a 1.
-However, I did find a HUGE improvement in the touchflo scrolling than without the screen protector.(If you own a kaiser, you should know of the smears and awkwardness of sliding ur thumb to scroll.)
Overall feel and look:
-I actually dont notice it, and it is fingerprint proof.
-Using touchflo feature, the thumb easily slides across with no smears, in other words i dont get that suction feeling.
-And dont forget this is a slide in, so you dont get those bubbles you get from using the provided screen protector you got with the kaiser. The screen protectors surface is really smooth, its like sliding a thumb across a sheet of printing paper)
PS: I have not tried the clear film yet, and dont think i have to. The antiglare film seems to be secure and feels as if it can last years...
My rating for the nushield screen protector is a 9/10.(would be 10/10 if it was easier to install, but then it wouldn't work as good )
As for purchase instructions, go to www.nushield.com and choose the HTC TYTN as for screen specs since it is the same as the kaiser. (I was foolish to try to custom make the screen protector for the kaiser only to realize that its the same size as the tytn!!*got email telling me that *) You can mix and match as i did by putting which films you would want under the comments on checkout.
Thanks for that, i was looking for a good screen protector but i didnt want those sticky ones. This is perfect and from your review, it seems to do a great job too!
Thanks, i just ordered one, but as you said, there was no 'kaiser' ones so i just ordered it for the tytn
I'll always be a fan of PocketPCTechs.com's WriteShields. And during October, you can get 20% off if you use this coupon code: PPCTRC1007
Type it into the Special Instructions field.
Just as an FYI to anyone else considering ordering the NuShield: I decided to try some based on this review, and also decided to get two anti-glare and one clear. I got the following response:
While we are always trying to be accommodating to our customers
special requests, this one has gotten out of hand. Someone must have
posted on a discussion board that we will do this. This request is
now occurring several times daily and represents a significant amount
of time and effort to put these special packages together.

Guess they don't like doing that very much.
EDIT: and fwiw, they appear to currently be out of anti-glare anyway, so I ended up ordering clear.
Martin Field's OverlayPlus
Best. Screen protector. Ever. Period.
It's non sticky, invisible, and best of all: If you mess up (e.g. bubbles, dust) while putting it on, you can just rinse it off with water, let it dry for a few minutes (or blow dry), and voila: It's clean and sticks again.
I've been using these things on my mobile phones, PDA's, Nintendo DS, etc, for as long as I can remember. Even after 5 years, you can simply take the screen protector off and your screen will look brand new.
Already have a small scratch? Put the screen protector on and it's gone

Unless it's an unusually small screen protector for the TyTn/8525, you are correct that it will be too large for the Tilt. I had to trim about a millimeter off of each dimension of my Boxwave ClearTouch Anti-Glare for it to fit.
I really like the Boxwave protectors. I had one protector last for over two years on my Treo 650, and similar to another protector described, if you want to clean it just use hand soap and water and stick it right back on.
In fact, I found that if the protector is slightly wet, it is much easier to get the bubbles out. It took almost no effort after I trimmed it when I put it onto my Tilt's screen.
So do any of these make the screen easier to see in direct sunlight?
I just ordered 2 BRANDO superclear ones ... have had a lot of phones and have had a lot of screen protectors but i have to say brando is DEFINATELY the best.

I confirmed it in my review. BTW Dont be stupid and trim it, it fits perfectly, trimming it would cause it to be loose once its in which will become an annoyance.
I just received the overlay plus screen protector for the tytn, and it does not fit the kaiser screen. The tytn overlay is larger than the kaiser's screen. I hope martin fields accepts exchanges.

keep trying to fit it in, if you read the original review he says that it's very hard to get it in there, but once it's in...it's gonna do good.
I was able to fit it in but its not on perfectly because the overlay uses a silicone adhesive, which makes it somewhat difficult to maneuver unlike the nushield screeprotectors which you just slip in.

wait....i think this is a case of miscommunication, I thought that you couldnt insert the NuShield protectors in, so I said to keep trying because the original poster said that it took him a little bit, but now it seems like you are talking about another kind of protector.
Conclusion: I'm confused
a lot of 99 cents only stores have 10 for 1 screen protectors that are larger than the kaiser. i bought like 5 of these (50 count) and just cut them to the size of the manufacturer's protector. it takes about a minute and avoids the highway robbery of screen protector prices.

Martin Fields Screen Protector

Got this today and it's significantly shorter than the screen (3/16"). Any other owners - is this normal? Expected it to be a flush fit.
Anyone? I know people have them - they were recommended on here repeatedly. Thanks in advance.
Havn't got mine yet. Their US site was backordered so I ordered from across seas. It should be here some time this week though.
I recently got boxwave protector.
Quite good and smooth under the stylus.
funny, i've had a few and they alway fit perfectly. perhaps take a picture of the fit and email them, and post the pic and their response here for reference.
well, i've had a few on the 3.5" devices, none for the 2.8" so its been a few years since i've had one i guess
This is funny because I thought the same thing and was really really angry. But it actually fits perfectly. I think you made the same mistake I did by sliding it too far up (going underneath the front housing) causing it to be too short and not fit right. If you line up the screen protector perfectly with the screen it should fit perfectly. Look at the piece you peeled it off from and compare it to the size of the screen and you will see what I mean.
I ordered another one because it wasn't too good after i took it off the first one. Hope this helps.
Expert Shield screen protectors are just as good and are half the price.

kp's got it right. i think OP slid the protector under the top frame of the screen. i made this mistake the first time i put in this screen protector too after positioning it correctly, it fits perfectly.
great screen protector btw. WAY better than the OEM one.
I have gone through many different screen protectors over the years, and I have one thing to say about all of them - none of them hold a candle to Martin Fields.
Every one I have bought on eBay have made my screen look grainy, for lack of a better word. It's like looking through a screen door. Only MF protectors look, and act, like the actual screen. It's like they are completely invisible. It is most noticable when you turn your phone on in the dark.
Yes, $25 for two of them is kinda spendy, but WELL worth the money. They are easy to apply and reusable. Wash them under the faucet, let dry, and reuse it. All the other ones are one use only (despite their claims).
I just received my screen protector from NuShield and I have to say I am extremely impressed with them. It comes in a pack of 3 for $11.99 and they are not adhesive. They fit perfectly, you dont have to worry about air bubbles, and the clarity is very good. You can get clear of anti-glare. I got the clear ones and once they are on you cant really tell they are there. The only thing negative I have to say about it is that it is a little tricky to install, but once I figured out the proper way to do install the protector it was easy. I would definitely recommend this as an alternative to adhesive screens.
Has anyone used one of these protectors in combination with one of the cubes floating around?
any issues (eg loss of sensitivity/harder to get touchflo to respond etc..)??
I completely agree with Lidberg. The Martin Fields is the best screen protector I've used to date. I had a couple pieces of lint/hair get on it during installation. I peeled it back up, took a piece of tape, pulled the lint/hair off the protector and placed it back down with no issue or bubbles. It has no effect on the touch screen either. Great product!
Well I ordered my Martin Fields on January 7 and it's still not here... blah. I'll give my 2 cents soon... hopefully...
So I've tested a few screen protectors:
The Invisishield
Martin Fields
Expert Shield
Invisishield IMO is VERY clear very easy to apply, NO BUBBLES!!! it's just very VERY grippy and is a PITA to use with your fingers.
Martin Fields and Expert Shield all in all are basically the same IMO same clarity, they have about the same degree of difficulty to put on (which isn't hard but harder than the Invisishield) and they are cut perfectly
The Expert Shield costs less, but is much harder to find, it took me a LONG time to find the expert shield for the kaiser =/
I also compared the Martian Fields and Expert Shield on my SE W810i with same results as the one for the Kaiser
IMO Martin Fields of the Expert Shield you can't go wrong with either
Well finally got my Martin Fields today and let me just say if there was ever a more difficult screen protector to put on, the manufacturer should be in court.
With that said it fits and feels great, and looks pretty darn good. I can tell it's there (just because I stared at it) but it looks pretty nice.

you dont have a screen protector on your phone?? it shouldve came with your phone unless you got it else where. better get these
well i screwed up the one that came wit it by trying to get it perfectly on the screen, so after ripping it out over and over again i kept gettin dust on it, so i threw it away and for now i put that original one back that has the pictures on it and shows you how to tilt ur phone? u know the one that comes on it when its brand new wit "warnings" and stuff...
either way...i am about to purchase either the "Expert Shield" or the pocket solution ones and i am tryin to get some feedback on the pocket solution ones first before purchasing. as for now, i have my phone on "baby mode" and am leaving it at home

Expert Shield rocks. I have used them for my Tilt and a couple of cameras. You just have be careful putting them on. It is really easy to get dust under it if your not careful. Look on eBay and you can find them for really cheap shipped from either Hong Kong or Canada. Usually around $10 - $12 shipped. They are more expensive here.
Martin Field screen protector is THE best screen protector for the kaiser.

+5 to that. i'm using them now on my tilt.
they're thick, yet flexible, have yet to show any wear from the stylus, & they haven't appeared to affect the touch sensitivity either.
It's been said by someone here that the Expert Shield protectors are just as good as the Martin Fields. He ruined one of his Martin Fields and I told him to try out ES and he said it was great.
They're a lot cheaper also.
ScreenPatronus
I recommend Screen Patronus

+5 to that. I've used InvisibleSHIELD but removed it and used ScreenPatronus instead.
PSP Screen protector
I'm using a Hiro PSP Screen protector (cut into size) covers 99.9% of the screen almost same thickness as with martin fields, but at a fraction of the price
It also doesn't affect screen sensitivity.

I second this, i got my a couple days ago. I love it, its more of a hard plastic type protector, alot better than those expensive sticky films you can buy.

I bought an Expert Shield and am VERY happpy with it. You're dead on about the dust thing and I'll add fingerprints to that list.
I did discover is that you can remove it and wash the sticky side off with warm water and a clean finger. Then pat dry lightly with lint free cloth for eye glasses. It will it go right back on just like new!!!! I did this three times in a row for fingerprints and dust that was bugging me.
Great product!!!
i would strongly recommend http://www.zagg.com/ Invisible sheild

Wanted to get some feedback by members on this forum before purchasing. What do you guys think? Will "static attachment" mess up the screen in any way?

I'm using them, and they are ok for the money. There are better ones out there like the others are stating. But for 5 bucks, not a bad buy at all.
Also try Boxwave's ClearTouch, It's a bit pricey but man... after 2 month with this thing stick on my screen, it didn't even get a single scratch on it, hard as a rock! Also perfect fit. It's also washable and after wash it with soap and put it back on to your screen it looks like brand new... Well worth the money.
Link here.
Someone here linked them before I bought them and they are garbage. They are a pain in the ass to put on the first one I put on didnt cover enough of the screen and anything off of your fingers stays on there and its very hard to clean you have to use water. Mircofiber cloth wasnt good enough. Within two weeks it bubbled up and I had to trash the 1st one. The 2nd one that came in the pack was too big and it was also did not fit well. Oh yea
I dont recommend them.
Lifetime Shield
Invisible Shield. Thats the one.
Lifetime shield
The invisible shield does have a different feel to it, but its nothing thats a show stopper. The company is good for its work, they have already replaced one due to the lack of a camera opening for my tytn 2.
