I've called 4 neighborhood stores and NONE of them know when they are getting it. One guy said "A few weeks" and another said "anyday, we get shipments every day." Let's hope its the latter. I don't know about you guys, but I'm excited. Online its $399 after rebates. But the guy in the store said it was going to be $399 with a $100 rebate according to his price sheet. YAY!
well, from the website that $50 rebate only applies if you subscribe to the PDA connect plan which is 39.99, i'd rather waste the rebate and not get that plane. As for the other $50... maybe activation?

I went by the store today again to check if they came in yet...they said they are supposed to get them in stock tomorrow. Also, they said the official price sheet they got today says the same as the website.
so is this still considered a wizard? man i want one

No, this wizard is the name HTC gave the phone. The 8525 is a Hermes. Just a different name, made by the same company though.

If the rebate is anything like the rebate for the 3125 I bought, it's not really a rebate but a Visa gift card with the amount that would have been a rebate. It can't be transfered to your bank account nor can you cash it out nor put it towards debt owed to Visa. It must be spent either at the Cingular store or anywhere that Visa is accepted.
Honestly, spend the extra 100-200 dollars and buy w/o the 2year contract term. That way when the next "Big and Tasty" comes out, you wont be stuck behind the contract.
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I currently have a TyTN that I bought about 6 months ago, I finally convinced my wife that she should get a new phone today. We went to the local Cingular Corporate Store and what do we see...8525's on sale for $99.99 with a new 2 year contract. We picked one up for her and I picked one up for myself as a back up phone. You have to sign-up for the PDA Unlimited plan to recieve the mail-in rebate for $50. I opted to not get that plan becuase it's a rip-off, so we paid $150 plus tax for each phone.
I thought that I might spread the word. Maybe you care maybe you don't...just trying to give a little back.
One person at the store said that the special offer ends Monday 4/30/07 and one other person said that it ended on 5/2/07. So if this interests you, you might want to call your local corporate store.
Marc
hmm i guess this is a local deal? I believe in Dallas, TX its still $399.99 with 2 yr contract and minus a $100 rebate for data plan totaling to $299.99 but I do agree thats a rip off for the data plan
What are the details on this special? I can't find it less that $360. Was it a refurb?
yeah i got mine for 200 plus a 50 dollar mail in rebate
hmm I am going to check tomorrow just for kicks. I got the 8525 less than 2 weeks ago. Do Cingular offer price matches? If not, I'll just do a return/exchange

The 2 that I got were brand spankin new. If it helps they were purchased in Tustin, CA.
I called Cingular and game them your 92780 zip code. Price was still >$300.
Was this at a Cingular Store (I thought this was what you meant)? Did it involve rebates? Best price I've seen is $199 after rebates @ Wirefly (but I won't buy from them or anyone using them again).
I'd buy one today if I could get the deal you got!
Which store did you buy it from in CA, I'll call them directly!

Why do you think the PDA Unlimited plan is a rip off?
I have the PDA Connect (Shown as: "PDACNCTUNTLADD" on my bill) for $39.99 minus company sponsorship discount.
Is there a better unlimited data plan?
Thanks.
Got mine for $99 (after $50 rebate). It used a $100 rebate for the California market, but since it was a corporate store, they matched the final price here.
Love these forums, saved me >$250 on this puppy!
Today was the last day.
If you want to make a mad dash, call you local store and see if they will match the current promotion in California.

Because most pay 19.99 for the Media Max and get unlimited internet... you just need to tell them you have a non-pda phone...
I tried calling the stores AND the price is 150 -50 for PDA, BUT you have to upgrade in the store. They wont do any over the phone orders. And cingular.com will not honor the price.
FINALLY I was able to get one of the store in the LA area to upgrade me over the phone and ship it to me... but it is not 150... Actually it is 196.49 out the door with taxes (they have to charge tax on the original price or some BS like that). Still a deal.
SO ANYONE IN THE LA AREA JUMP AT THIS DEAL.....
Ron
It would be proper to mention all the details about the deal... They are NOT 99 dollars.
It's 149.99 if you pick up a 2 year contract (or have an upgrade available on the account)
Tax is 46 dollars and is based on the 399 price tag, not the 99.99 tag
And until now, I thought the rebate was for everyone, but apparently it's only 50 off if you get that unlimited data plan.
The phones are 196.xx out the door each NOT 99!!!

True, I found this discrepancy out for myself, BUT I still gladly paid the $196, BECAUSE it is a stellar deal.
Ron
Wait I'm confused, was this just one Coporate Store? Are you sure it's over? I'm in the L.A. area, where should I go to see if I can still get this deal?
THanks for the help
yeah no kidding. I was gonna buy a TYTN for $600 until I saw this.
Hi
I am currently trying to find the best deal in the UK for the HD2. I dont really want to pay more than £30 a month, and hence am happy to a point to pay some money upfront.
So far, I think its mobile phones direct, with t-mobile combi 30 with web and walk over 18 months. I just have to pay £54.99 up front plus I can get £30 cashback off topcashback.
I wondered though if anyone gas found a better deal?
I tried o2, and even with a open discount I have through my work, I have to stump up alot of money. Vodafone deals dont seem so great.
Thoughts?
Scott
Im doing expansys and then simplicity, it's cheaper in the end!
Buying direct from T-Mobile may be a good option. I've found that if you ring them up you can usually get better terms than they advertise on their website. I've just ordered an HD2 from them; £36 a month for 18 months, but the phone is free, and that includes 1000 minutes, 500 texts, and their Web'n'walk Plus internet service (which has a 3GB per month limit rather than the standard 1, and permits tethering). If I'd gone with the standard Web'n'walk package I could have got unlimited texts.
And I'm not very good at haggling - you could probably get a better deal than I did!
I'm on an 18 Month contract with o2 35 a month
600 mins
1000 texts
unlimited 3G internet
95 for the phone
@onisuk, was that through the carphone warehouse though?

Thanks for the heads up on the topcashback Scott - Tmobile are really gonna have to take a beating to match this when I come to upgrade from my Diamond (MDA IV)!!!
I'll be offloading the Diamond to Mazuma too - £103 cash or £113 in Argos vouchers. Probably easier than TeaBAy!

But it's not on their site!? I'm very confused how to find out where to buy it, my iPhone is out of contract in a couple of days and so not sure to hold out and see if they can give me a better deal with the phone rather than haggling over simplicity!
they're available to existing customers, just call up o2 and speak to upgrades or retentions. It probs won't be available for new customers for a while so won't be on the website for a while.
Hope that helps!

Great Tip. I tried it using my Bing account.
Earning Bing cashback is easy:
Go to Bing and create an active Windows Live ID and cashback account
Search for “WireflyBing” at Bing
Click on the Wirefly.com listing with the Bing cashback symbol
Shop on Wirefly.com and complete your purchase
As soon as your eligible order ships, Wirefly will email you to confirm your Bing cashback savings
All money earned will be paid directly by Bing after a 60-day pending period via check or direct deposit
It is really that simple!
i got it for free with 20£/ month contract on vodaphone in uk

Can't believe people paid $1000 for this phone when it just came out
I would never pay more than $50 bucks for a phone. I would rather get a netbook and a cheap cell phone for the same money.

To tell u the true i'm not sure if that's a great deal.
Even More(2 year contract) 500 Talk + Text + Web ($39 + $10 + 30) = $79
Even More Plus(No contract) 500 Talk + Text + Web = $59
So on average you are saving like $20 buck a month with the Even More Plus plan and u have no contract. Over 2 years you would safe like $480 which is the cost of the phone plus the $200 u paid upfront. So with the Even More plan you are spending like $680 for the phone and u have a 2 year contact.
Yes, what you're saying is basically true. On a time span of 2 years (as per contract) you end up paying $2095 for the even more "500" plan ($79 x 24 + $199) and $1895 for the even more plus ($59 x 24 + $449). So...yes...even more plus is more convenient, not only for the $200 bucks saved but also for not being committed for two years..
The only way I can see the even more plan being cost effective is u get a family plan with 2 or more lines and getting all the phone including HD2 for free.
yeah i go tthe buy one get one free...so i got my wife one....only had to pay tax and have 3 more installments

I think the cheapest deal to just get the GS2 is with O2
£150 phone
+ £10.5/months for 24 months
- £50 cash back from topcashback or quidco
= £352 total
The cashback is a bit hit or miss since I haven't had mine tracked yet but others have theirs tracked. But in the worst case that the cashback wouldn't track, you still get the phone for £402, which is still less than what most retailers are selling the GS2 atm.
p/s1: the £10.5/month contract will get you 50 minutes and 250 texts
p/s2: O2 will also unlock your phone for free as well
Check Carphone Warehouse. Bought mine a few weeks ago 490 sim free.

So you could simply remove that extra £3 after like a month? So only have to pay it once? That would be pretty cool if you could do that
