Is there an app to soft reset, without removing battery cover?
I tried shutdown, pocket tools, pocket power manager, but after installation, none will actually load up...
is this a diamond touch flo issue or what?
any help would be appreciated
wisbar
wisbar advance 3....its not free but worth it, try the trial. make a shortcut to reset option on the programs tab and u are goo to go!
try this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=104717&d=1218160467
Quickmenu does and it's free. It has option to hold start menu down to soft reset.
I use psShutXP to reset my diamond. With softkeychanger i put it on the right soft key on the home screen. If you want to try it, i attached the program and a vga-skin, which is important for the right function. You can try both integrated cabss...i use the x-scale version. Please copy the two gif files after the installation into the folderr psShutXp under Programs.
There is also way to assign psShutXP to power button

Yes, there's the little known app called "push the red button in the stylus slot" app, no battery cover removal required.

Ditto, I do the same. psShutXP not only soft resets but sleeps the Diamond and also turns off screen.
Plus you can make your own skins.
Greetings.
Install cab, soft-reset, keep pressed power off button...
Good luck and Have Fun.
I've been using A-A Reset Manager that came with Duttys ROM.
I dont know if its available as a cab but it very useful.

Couldn't agree more. If all you want is the ability to soft reset without removing battery cover why waste precious memory installing an app when there is a red button in the stylus slot to do this?
I do not see a RED button in the stylus slot. Perhaps you have the non-SPRINT Diamond.
Thanks to all for the apps !!

Is there any way to add a custom apps shortcuts to a bottom "new bar"? I have WA2, but with WA2 you can customize just main bar (task bar)... And there is so many space next to BT and Screen Orientation icon..
Use this application:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/PowerToys/
It has something called TrayLaunch as a program- simply find the full path of the .exe or .lnk or whatever else and type it in.

I've tested this app on my MDA Compact and I've noticed plenty of bugs... Any other, similar app ? :?:

There is a new program with WA2, called Wisbar Advance Destop, it's still free.
You can do almost everything with that new prog. (WAD)
so good luck
Try this CAB file, I striped out all the other PHM power tools and only left the tray launcher app. I use it with no problems at all.
The full PHM power tools are here

Thanks, I also pulled the "Reset" app from the tools as well, as its good to have a software reset instead of using your stylus.

Yes i use to that as well but the longer i use the PPC the simplier i'm making it, the OS is not stable enough to pile on to many apps. I like things fast simply and able to get the info i need when i need it.
I have also cut down pocket plus to the minium apps.
Close Button:
The close (X) button really closes programs, task manager, etc
Pocket Internet Explorer:
Multiple windows, full screen mode, save as, view source, ...
File Explorer:
ZIP support, encryption, "Folder Up" button, storage card format, file properties,
It also installs the Battery line Indicator
The CAB is approx 645KB instead off 3.733Mb
Anyone knows how to remove the soft buttons at the bottom of the screen? Find them a waist of space.
I dont mean a program which has this function (wisbar advanced desktop does it) but i am looking for just a cab or reg hack to remove them without having to install unneeded software.
:?:

dvl, i don't think this can be done by a reg hack.
When i get around to updating my toggletoday program I'll provide this as an option. But you know this is a per app setting, so I could remove it in the Today screen (I think, not tried!) but not in every app (well I could, but how would you access the menu?)
V
ohhh
it is only for the today screen..
i need the keyboard thingy in apps of course..
sorry i was unclear.. and yeah i know about your app but then i have to install more then needed..
But if you know a way how to remove it from the today screen i would be very pleased!!
Greetz

Toggle today is not memory resident, it loads, fixes and quits. Hopefully the WM5 version will be the same if I can help it. But I don't think this can be done in registry (unless there's a key we don't know about).
V
You can of course edit the registry and delete the keys that contain the paths to the programs, or leave the programs there and use blanks to show up on the screen. The letters will then disappear, but you cannot hide the whole tray and use it as Today space.
OK! I was trying to get TF3D 0.6.7 to work and it was giving me an error. There are 2 fixes posted by the author. I tried the first one with no luck, the second one worked great!
The first one is to go to HKLM/Driver/Touchpanel and make a new Dword.
For reasons I cannot explain I did not think to back up my registry! Now, the touch screen won't work except for the task manager arrow. Nothing else no matter how hard I push or with what.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it or does can someone possibly make an exacutable registry key I can launch or install some how? I thought you could use PHM from the desktop as well. Any registry editors that will work through active sync on the PC? If so, what is the value supposed to be and what kind of key is it supposed to be? Thanks in advance.
soft reset?
have you tried a soft reset?
If everything else fail, you should maybe just re-flash your phone.
Before flashing try to hard reset.
Press and hold VOL.DOWN Button & ENTER Button
And while holding press the soft reset button (under the stylus)
When a message appears on your screen u can release the
Volume down button and enter button.
Use "Mobile Registry Editor" to change the setting back while the device is recognized by ActiveSync. (You can hit Cancel on the ActiveSync pops and it will let you use the device in Guest mode)
You can also use some remote control utility like MyMobiler or EveryWAN to use the device through the computer.
MyMobiler should definitely help. Try it out..
Regards,
Carty..

The tweak is: change one of the bottom hardware keys to soft-reset.
I used long_send.lnk to link for an .exe file that soft reset the device.
In the last week this tweak saved me about 3-4 times from opening the back cover to press the red soft reset button (usually when the device hangs, it's really just the screen, the hardware keys still work).
Knowing that the soft reset button is the most important button in any WM device, I wonder how HTC hasn't thought about it themeselves...

I installed the reset and wifi cab off the cabs thread (in my sig). That creates a shortcut for wifi toggling and resetting the device. I've just got both of them in the quicklinks, so it's on my homepage all the time.

When the screen is unresponsive, your quicklinks are worthless. The power of my tweak is that it allows you to soft-reset using the hardware keys which usually stay responsive even when the screen hangs.

And when those keys are unresponsive then that method is useless. There's no perfect replacement for taking the back off.
Can you give a link to the soft reset exe file that you're using? A copy of your long_send.lnk would also be great.

True. Still, in the last week my device hang 3-4 times, I could not use the soft-reset quicklink, simply because the screen was unresponsive. When I pressed long send the device reset.
When the screen is responsive, the hardware keys are always responsive, but not vice versa.
Surely the "#1 Killer Tweak" would be to make it more stable so it doesnt need a soft reset!
just my tuppence worth

sorry how is this a new tweak?
I'm lost...
it's been posted many many times..
long_press.lnk isn't that good a way of doing it btw.
It's better to use the reg setting. :
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C6]
@="\"\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\softreset.lnk\""
"WndCls"=""
"BtnWnd"=dword:00000000
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"ResetCmd"=""
"Name"="Button 1(Hold)"
obviously you need a softreset.lnk pointed in the start menu pointing to the exe

Here are the instructions:
1. Download the soft-reset files from here:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Enhancements/Shubaroo-Soft-Reset-56815.shtml
This is a zip file that contains two files. Put the file named "SoftResetARM.exe" on your Storage Card root directory.
2. Download the attached Long_Send.txt.
3. Change Long_Send.txt to Long_Send.lnk (I simply couldn't attach a lnk file)
4. Put the Long_Send.lnk file in the device's Windows folder.
That's it, a long press on the hardware send-key will soft-reset the device.

Do you have to create this key? I got as far as /shell/ but couldn't find /Keys/
Maybe better rename the thread title to: "Add softreset function to one of the hardware buttons" I expected the phone to do more than it already did
Hi

Look for Touch X Reset in this forrum. It is a simple & usefull cab. Put the icon shortcut in Home tab and, hey presto!

I want a hardware soft reset:
w/o any touch of the screen (for the time of screen hanging):
Long press of endkey --> soft reset (w/o confirmation w/o any menu)
If your device has hanged so bad the screen doesn't respond, it most likely won't be able to launch a reset shortcut either.
Just remove the battery like we do in these cases.
I found it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674917&highlight=EndKey
There is a "endkey.exe" in your windows folder. Simply find a soft reset .exe (if you don't already have one) change it so that it is named "endkey.exe" and place it in the windows folder.
Job done. Dunno why so many people try and make it so much more complicated...
