Made the leap, now awaiting shipping of my Black Xperia... - XPERIA X1 General

Yup, as per the subject, I'm anxiously awaiting my beautiful black Xperia...
I just wanted to get some advice ahead of time from other owners as to which registry tweaks/softwares etc I should do first to optimise the handset?
Seems like XperiaTweak, SPB Mobile Shell panel, TF3D installation, cab for directing the Google panel to Opera should be first stops - anything else?
How is the new version of the program that lets non-WVGA softwares run on the Xperia?
I already have Garmin maps - will this work on the Xperia?
And finally - how to get album art in the Media Panel?
Thanks for your help everyone!

We are sitting in the same boat right now. I ordered my silver xperia from expansys yesterday and i think i should be getting it tomorrow. I'm probably gonna try and playing around in the registry a bit to see what i can find. I'll be using garmin mobile xt as well i'll keep you posted on what i find

Cheers, you'll likely have it a little before me, so I'll look forward to hearing how Garmin goes on it. Sounds like Tomtom 7 is just fine with the screen resolution if Garmin isn't up to snuff anyways.

Well Garmin works perfect on my touch pro so i hope it won't have a problem with the 800x480 resolution because i actually really like Garmin.

You'll probably get it sooner than me too, and i got it on the 25th...

Ordered one too!!
I got the SILVER. Should be here by Friday. Already sold my Touch Pro on ebay and have no plans to get the FUZE unless the X1 is really disappointing for me here in the U.S.
...which I doubt.

I guess i have my touch pro listed for too high a price cause i haven't sold my touch pro yet. Still working on that. I'm also selling my tilt if anyone is interested

What I usually do...

Latest News and picture of Shift ! No GPS and Phone for sure out the of Box !

Hi guys, there are more news on the HTC shift, it has been official presented on the 28th in Taiwan by HTC. This is the official retail package and it's 100% what you will get in retail store.
Here is a link for some picture: http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=224&t=508252&last=4825702
For those people who can't see the picture, see my attachment of how to show the picture.
My HTC contact was there and he has tested the device, i specific ask him to test on phone and gps function, he report back saying that there is 100% no phone and GPS inside the Shift.
I know a lot of people will say they seen photo of GPS or phone, but that me remind you this, this is the latest official retail version, all device before are prototype. Yes, i have also seen the picture on FCC website showing there is GPS inside, that's the reason I asked my friend to test it! And let me say this again, there will be no GPS or Phone out of the box.
Our hope will be for the developers here in XDA to crack the function to enable full windows mobile, phone, and GPS.
p.s. Another news i got from my friend, HTC is saying the SD slot will only support up to 2GB.
can you getem?
Hi Wu, how are you doing, just wondering like you got me my Dopod, can you get hold of a shift for me? Thanks Dude

Hi Faisal, i am fine thank you. I hope you are doing well too.
Yes i can get the Shift for you, it's currently on pre-order and the device will be available on the 4th of Feb. Price is a bit lower then anywhere else and you will get bonus with it such as GPS and extra battery....etc.
If you are interesting in getting one, please PM me and we can discuss more there !
Hmm.. i´m ordered a sample from our german distributor but now i´m thinking about to cancel the order. We thinking long time ago about a integration of the shift in our company network for our VIP customers. But without gps, without Mobile and without LAN (or can i install Windows over netboot over WLAN??) i should search better for a other solution. there is not really a innovation inside. maybe the better solution with same features is a Toshiba Portégé R400 Series laptop..
but we will see the next on cebit i hope. maybe a other manufactor. we support htc from scratch with their first devices. after over 7000 devices and the problems within it´s time to test a other manufacor i think. maybe asus, samsung
Pre-Order all gone
Please do not ask me any more for HTC Shift, all the 200 unit for pre-order is gone already, first shipment will be on the 4th of Feb, if there is any more stock available, i will let you all know asap.

weird comment .. I don't see any device being a half of what the Shift is ... and even without GPS, without Phone, without LAN and without full WM6 .. the shift is still the best device on the market for my needs.
WLAN will replace LAN over the time.. so I don't think it is a big mistake, but it could have been great
GPS "should" be in the SHIFT but not in WM6 (GPS in Vista).. but the choice is not perfect (who whant a GPS that is working only 2 hours..)
The Shift is not the perfect device, for everyone, but we have to see the real potential of the shift before crying for any lack of feature.
HTC has announced a "shift" like device with 5" .. maybe it will have GPS, Phone, etc.. we will see
weird - yes of course.. ;-)
i´m think it´s a new strategy of HTC to make devices without completly knows features.
maybe, LAN is only for Enterprise Customers like us with over 200tsd Users worldwide interesting, (automatic Software distribution) but Phone Functionality is interesting some more users. Is not really practicable with a 7" Device, but with BT Headset and Speak Control - why not. GPS is only a nice Addon for freaks like me, they travel around the world.
But overall: you´re need really a device like this? (i call that "the innovation factor" inside ;-)
But it´s really needed? Sometimes i think about Asus EEE PC, there a many Websites with modding this mini laptop, it´s crazy. when i have a look to this modding sites I see one:
they have much fun with modding her cheap Asus EEE Laptop.
But after 6 Years with HTC devices in all colors I ask me sometimes:
where is the fun - as i start with it..
;-)

Well well well .. yeah I really need a device like this. I hate laptop (it's almost like bringing my desktop tower ...) because it's too big for me (even 11" ones). The shift has the perfect size for being a good laptop to use everywhere (including when travelling, when being on the bed, ...).
A laptot is not silent at all... mine is making too much noise.. almost the same as my desktop ! And it's warm.. warm... too warm ! I can't keep it on my knees more than 10 minutes ... WAW ! Totally useless to have a laptop.
The shift is quite, cold (not warm I mean ) and I can put it in my pocket (yeah I can... really ... I can ! .. have I tried... not yet.. but I have look the size and it fits well in my pocket... yeah.. really !).
I have bought an HTC Touch to work without any computer with me ... and .. ouch.. impossible to work with the Touch ! No real application on Windows Mobile .... Mobile Office? NOOOO it's too horrible ! On the shift I can use Windows Vista to work .. mmh so nice !
And what about the size .. 40Go is enough to work everywhere I want .. i can plug a VGA cable to my TFT to have a real screen .. and I can do this in so many room (I'm a student, so believe me... I do see a lot of monitor that just want to put their VGA cable in something !).
The only thing that can be bad was the keyboard, but I have tried it.. and WAW it worked well ! Not as well as my own Logitech Media Keyboard with about 80 words per minute... but I can type about 60 words per minute... enough when I'm not @ home.
I do believe the shift is the only solution for me right now, and I'm waiting a little to see all the real features available on the "retail" shift.. but I have great hopes in it !
Supposedly the Shift has the Qualcomm MSM 7200 chipset in it which has voice and gps built in. I can not see them "removing" that from the chipset. It's just a matter of time before this device get's "unlocked" to it's fullest potential.
I still do not see the marketing strategy of HTC leaving these features "out"... You would think that every device you release you would want to sell the hell out of it no? Are they that cocky that they believe they will be around forever to keep selling up their products to us?
i.e. Model Shift II including GPS!!! More money!!!

hard to know... but it's sure that the strategy seems completely wrong .... maybe they want us to buy a Phone and a GPS ... but it's not the right choice.... many people will not buy a HTC device because of it...
It is an odd strategy but not the first time they've done this stuff. Still I think most people who are inclined to buy Windows Mobile devices usually research them. A WinMo device is alot more advanced than your cpl hundred dollar nokias, I think when people are spending over $500 on a phone they are pretty inclined to do some research.
With that said im pretty sure HTC know if they release a shift w/o GPS or phone enabled, good people here can hack it and enable (remember the P3600) and then its on the users onus if things mess up. Actually sounds like a good strategy when you think about it, they only have to meet target "X" in terms of standards for "X" features. If end users decide to try activating features "Y" then they do so at their own risk...

i don't think it's smart.. because about 50% of intersted people will not buy the shift only because of missing GPS and Phone.

what color and what price are you looking for. I'm thinking about buying a test device so i get more creative with my ROM cooking. Debating on whether to get a Touch HD just to play with it or another xperia. It would be nice to post some pics of the device as well.
what you're looking for is finger-friendliness, and currently windows mobile is designed for stylus use, though there are applications/tweaks that make menus and buttons bigger.
i do admit the screen on the XPERIA is small and if it was the size of the Touch HD it would have been more feasible for finger-friendliness, but being small makes it look more compact anyway.... like a traditional sony ericsson product.
windows mobile 6.5 is supposed to completely finger-friendly though, if it truly will look like the Zune based on "leaked" screenshots.....

Turn by Turn Satnav (tomtom etc.) for G1 USA?

I recently shelved my old and trusty Kaiser and have to say, even tough I was very sceptical about switching I am very please to own the best phone I've ever had!!
However, one thing that is stopping me from putting the Kaiser totally away is the lack of a Turn By Turn satnav program such as tomtom, igo, garmin etc.
Andnav1 and andnav2 are the likely options, but unfortunately andnav1 doesn't fit becuase of the maps issue and it looks like andnav2 is a long way off.
Does anyone know any similar satnav programs that are available for the G1?
Thanks for any help in advance!!!
(oh yes, I have searched the obvious terms but nothing useful came up)
I am in exactly the same situation too!
my g1 comes tomorrow... and bye to kaiser with tomtom - waaahh!
wow
monthly paying model - hell no.
I just don't think Brits would buy into that - (big guess) think that Brits like to own the thing- regardless of size of one off payment!
cheers for info!

There's a fee for the traffic on TomTom. Telenav has traffic updates as well. So it's really a decent alternative in my opinion. But I do perfer TomTom over Telenav anyday.
sure, for thre traffic, i grok the purpose of a sub based model - but not for a non traffic system!
And agree - damned tomtom - once you have used it - everything else seems sh!te
Well one solution you could do which I did until my Kaiser broke is use the Kaiser just as a PDA. I turned off the phone feature in comms and just used it as a PDA when needed. When I went on trips that I needed GPS I just used my Kaiser with Garmin. It did the trick, plus I was able to keep the Kaiser in a car mount while keeping my G1 free to use. Just a thought.
I love it! that wsy I don't have to say gbye to my trusty kaiser... *sniff*
cheers for statign "The Elusive Obvious" as Moshe Feldenkrais said...
I used TeleNav and it's slow and not very accurate (may be related to G1's GPS). My problem is that I don't need traffic updates, POI or any other crap. I just want turn-by-turn directions from point A to point B with real time rerouting. I am OK with storing all of the maps on my SD (hell, my tomtom has 1GB card and does it perfectly, I think I can allocate 1GB for that), I would actually prefer all maps on SD so I don't have to rely on data connection.
Come on now, I can get TomTom One for about $100 new. It will include device itself, car mount, car charger, SD with maps, data cable and, I think, home charger. I already have 5 out 6 (device, cables, mount) so what's stopping them from coming out with a software like that? I would gladly pay $50 for it up front.
Just my 2 cents. I'm sure it was discussed somewhere before but I just need to take out my frustration.
Thank you all for reading
I'm with you on this.. in fact, brand wise, I reckon biz partnering google would be a damn smart move by tom tom... in my map of the world, they kinda fit nicely
I just personally loathe TeleAtlas (Google's map provider). 50% of the time, it has me driving alllllll over to get to the wrong address.
we're screwed then!
Possibly not screwed
The stand-alone TomTom units run on a modified Linux kernel i believe, therefore it shouldn't be too difficult to port to Android.
However if you look at it from TomTom's perspective why would any business invest development time and resources to develope a product for a very new platform that currently only runs on a single device available from one provider. Not exactly good business sense in my opinion.
yeah, that's true too - tho i think longer term, such a relationship would be beneficial! hey ho...
Wow lot of repsonses. Didn;t know the telnav and being a Brit, there is no way in hell I'm paying monthly for it. I'd prefer to pay $100 just for the software and own - I can see why you'd pay for traffic but it doesn't bother me enough to pay for it - I'll just deviate from the congested roads and tomtom would suggest a new route in real time.
I am lugging around my old kaiser at the moment because google maps with directions just doesn't cut it escpecially at 70mph when you can't afford to try squinting at the maps to figure out where the exit is.
Bringing my kaiser defeats the whole point - the G1 has good gps and cell triangulation (it actually finds a fix quicker than my kaiser) so why can;t someone just bring out a ported version of tomtom? I also don't want to have a stand alone unit for the same reasons, not to mention security.
phatphat said:

It would have to be TomTom themselves for it to be legal i think and as I said I unfortunately can't see that happening anytime soon
However there is an open source offshoot - http://www.opentom.org/Main_Page
This potentially could be worked into something usable on Android.

dude I agree - am doing same with kaiser myself - couldn't agree more with what you've said here...
Bah!
Cmon guys pull your corporate fingers outta ya rect0ids
telnav only works for tmob users as of now, they claim they will release a single version later for other users. i pay for telnav on att but have to use lesser programs till they get it open.
Hope I won't be threadcrapping by throwing in my 2 cents.
Long time Windows Mobile user who just today was told by a G1 user that she HATES her phone. She saw my Touch Cruise and said she'd LOVE to trade. Not knowing much about the G1, I've been doing my research and overall it looks like a solid phone.
The few things I'm concerned about...
1) As mentioned here, the lack of "turn-by turn direction" software. I've used iGuidance for YEARS on my Windows Mobile phones. It's the best I've found and I've used it in Washington (State), Oregon, Nevada, Illinois... it works GREAT! But I would hate to trade my Touch Cruise and have to go without or pay a monthly fee.
2) A2DP - I dont' use it all the time, but I like it for in my car.
Any additional info is appreciated!
I can't answer so much for the navigation... but I use the A2DP on 1.5 for music with my headphone and it works pretty well, even the buttons on the side of the headphones work properly too.

Best Alternative to iPhone? Suggestions welcome..

Hi All,
I gave up my Dopod 818 Pro to get an iPhone. But was not happy about the voice dialing, restrictive software etc...etc.. anyways, got rid of the iPhone and looking to buy another HTC product with more friendly Windows product - should I go for Touch HD? How is the call quality? I have been reading in the reviews that the call quality is poor - any cooked ROM or app to increase the call quality? Any other alternatives?
I kind of like the bigger screen face (3.8"), I like to have good call quality and easy to access features? I like the Microsoft Calendar etc, Voice Tagging and voice dialing, file explorer and be able to see what exactly is stored in the phone and not just a black box. I like to press my bluetooth headset and tell it "Call Home" and let it dial rather than fumbling around with the phone when driving. Any recommendations welcome?
Have a great weekend!
Brenda
Have you tried a JAILBROKEN iPhone? I have not researched much into Bluetooth voice dialing yet myself. Have you tried to find out if firmware 3.0 offers what you need?
Anyway, if I'm you I would try to be more thorough in listing my requirements before looking for the new phone. There are a lot of other considerations I'm sure beyond Bluetooth voice dialing.
Hi Steve
Thanks for the reply... I tried the jailbroken iPhone, don't get me wrong it is pretty good but still too much restrictive software - I hate iTunes.. one of the least intuitive programs, wiped out the song collection quite a few times..the jailbroken one gave me cydia and installer...still too cumbersome...
My requirements are:
Atleast 3.2" Touch screen
SMS capability
Microsoft Windows - Calenday, Contacts & Sync with outlook
Voice dialing
Blue Tooth
Good call quality
Play mp3
Enough memory to operate well - I had to clear the memory quite often on the Dopod 818
Ability to browse the web to read yahoo / gmail emails and get some stcok quotes
I am not too keen on camera, I will carry separate one for that
Thanks
Brenda

If bluetooth voice dialing is high up on your list, and you do not seem to have lots of functional requirements here, I think most of the HTC phones will meet your needs, including HD. But, you know the usual window mobile problems I guess. I would also take a look at HTC Magic and Nokia if your requirements are only those. Current iPhone is weak in bluetooth. Not sure about in firmware 3.0 despite all the speculation.
HTC Magic actually caught my attention and I really want to play with it. I got the impression that it also has multitouch screen like iPhone's. I hope it is as fast, stable, and smooth as iPhone. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to find a Telco shop in Sydney that has a demo unit (most just have a dummy). If anyone knows how I explore this alternative phone in Sydney please let me know.

Why buy a phone about to be phased out? If you love HTC phone and have a brand new chance to buy one now, would you not consider Touch Pro 2 and Touch Diamond 2 at least? If nothing else, you get newer ROM that can zoom properly, and not like cooked ROMs ported to HD that can't do proper zooming due to hardware differences.
Or even TG01, with the much more powerful processor?
Or HTC Magic, with it's iPhone like touch screen?

I always believe that every user should comprehensively list down what are important to that person, and the list differs from person to person. While I like big screen like you (which was why I still own an Athena), not everyone agrees on what constitute adequate screen size. So, 3.2 inch mentioned by Brenda is small for you and me, but she does not see it as important.
Brenda, I think it pays also to find out the firmware upgrade policy on HTC magic and see if future Android OS would be given to you free of charge. It is sad to see HTC users having to keep paying for new phone over and over again in order to get the most updated ROM. I would take this aspect into account in addition to your listed considerations.

I totally agree mate. Brenda asked for suggestions and I stated mine (which is the Blackstone)
I have the HD, but at this point in time...you should look at the newer HTC ppc's Touch Pro 2 or Touch Diamond 2
Does Touch Diamond2 come with voice dialing?
Hi Steve and HTC Lova,
I seriously looked in to Diamond2 especially the call quality was rated high - but I then I read some review that it does not support voice dialing. If that's the case then I have to rule it out unless there is a voice cab that can be easily loaded and activated.
Is the Touch Pro2 kind of heavy - 178 gm compared to Diamond2's 117 gm or Touch HD's 146 gm?
I am not sure about the HTC Magic - android - especially if I have to pay for firmware..
Will wait to hear from you guys on the Diamond2 voice dial cab.
Thanks
Brenda
Brenda,
You can always install microsoft voice command by yourself.
Good to know....
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the fast reply...How good is the Microsoft voice software? Have you used it? In my previous Dopod 818, I installed a voice cab file and thought it was better than any thing else..I am not sure where I got the voice.cab file from.
Is it similar to Dopod to flash similar cab files in Diamond2?
Thanks again.

I have tried both cyberon voice commander and microsoft voice command. None works for me because I can't speak with American or British accent I guess. It is so inaccurate and frustrating that I gave up quickly years ago. I always prefer speed dial button style of calling. When I flash cooked ROMs, I always choose the version that does not do voice dial.
just got $100 ticket for having iPhone in the hand...
Steve,
I just got a $100 ticket for picking up the iPhone, that made my decision to get rid of that... I had pretty good connection between the dopod 818 and the headset, but gave away the dopod to a friend...regret that...
I am going to look in to Diamond2 more and make the decision soon - seems light enough, as long as i can read occasional yahoo mail and send my son sms, it will be good.. I liked the iPhone's big screen and quick response but the non-windows application drove me nuts...
I did take a look at TG01...not sure where to get it and more importantly the price..looks like it may be exorbidant.
Thanks for the inputs..
Brenda
Brenda,
Another iPhone alternative that caught my eye is Palm Pre. The user interface is also fantastic, very similar to iPhone in some ways. Here are some video demo
http://gizmodo.com/5126752/palm-pre-full-video-tours
This is Palm's version of WM7, so is definitely worth taking a close look.
Has an incredible browser that should be a good match for Safari. See here:
http://palmgoon.com/meet-the-web-browser-on-the-pre/
Apparently, the palm pre browser handles flash!
I have not gone deep enough into it and researched enough to say if if it good or not. Just as a potential candidate for evaluation I think it qualifies. In case I'm starting to sound like a Palm fanboy, I assure everyone that I'm still a winmo and iPhone fanboy in and out
Hack, when you got a chance to buy a new phone, with so many new candidates on the market, why not keep our mind completely open once again? The bar has been lifted higher and higher each year. Why choose a device based on very low expectation and standard?
The most important area to research IMO is what sorts of third party software could be found and their quality. If it has an apple store equivalent, then I think it would be extremely attractive. If anyone here can speed up our learning process in this area I'd greatly appreciate it. I like to know if I can run the like of TomTom, iGO, etc on Palm Pre, or if it has a credible GPS software of its own. I also have lots of other questions like if an MS Offfice compatible spreadsheet exist, any good Golf Score/Handicapping software, quality of video capture and playing software, quality of camera, ease of downloading movies/MP3 etc, likes of eWallet type software, likes of Cash Organiser Premium type software, etc etc. I'm also interesting in seeing the "file structure"/file coying/file moving/file renaming features. I want to make sure that it is not just a phone, but a computer. Can someone help?
I could'nt find definite anwer to your question on whether it can do voice dialing over bluetooth, but here is a thread that you can follow:

Cheers.

I have the HD, but at this point in time...you should look at the newer HTC ppc's Touch Pro 2 or Touch Diamond 2

If you don't need a bigger screen, the Touch Diamond2 is a great phone. If you need a bigger screen like the HD, then the upcoming Firestone might be worth waiting for http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_2009_roadmap_gets_updated_now_weve_got_the_specs-news-821.php
If you need a keyboard, then the Touch Pro2 might be what you need.
I have an HD with my eye on the Firestone.

Definately the Firestone is on my list for an upgrade when it shows up in Oct. or Nov.! But, I'll be playing with the TP2 w/ 3G on t-mobile USA!!
I'm curious to see what the battery life is going to be like on the Toshiba Tg01, i'm a little disenfranchised with HTC's incremental (if that much) upgrades.
The Tg01 seems much snappier and seems to have really good graphics performance, which is more than we can say for the last couple HTC iterations.
The only thing remaining for me to find out, is the battery life, and if there is any hope for a US operator to take it up...OR...another market that uses US 3g bands.
hmm. i dont know about rushing for firestone. i think hd will be great phone for long time. it has got nice hardware and maybe it will run android or wm7.

I've always wanted an Apple product....

But I've never bought one! Every time Apple come out with a new product I want to rush out and get one. Then, I don't. This has happened for the iPod, Apple TV, iPhone, new iPod, Mac, etc. There is always some limitation that is a deal breaker (and the high prices). With the iPhone, it is locked to AT&T or O2 or whoever. Take it overseas and your going to be paying incredible roaming fees. You can buy an unlocked 3GS in Europe (Italy) but it costs around $1100 (that is US dollars) and you probably won't find one without a contract. It won't play xvid/divx etc. The Apple TV looks awesome. Ahh, but you're locked in to iTunes and supported formats are not that great. The iPod Touch - wow, that looks fantastic. But I keep having to pay for upgrades? And it's not a phone? It just goes on an on.
So I went out and bought the HTC Hero. I absolutely love this thing. I'm not saying it is perfect, but there are only a few faults so far. Once I turned off that silly clock on the home screen it became quite snappy. The browser is amazing. Bookmarks are easy to access, though I wish you could do it with a finger swipe. Or at least cycle through open pages that way. Integration with Google accounts (maps, gmail, contacts) is fantastic. The maps work great with both GPS and just the cell tower information. Using Google street view and sky is really cool. The device knows its orientation at all times. Enable compass mode in street view and when you face North, the phone will show you that view. Turn in a circle, it will follow. I bet Google will eventually do turn by turn and 3D navigation. Why not? They'll make loads of money on it. The PDF reader is actually very useful. Since the Hero did not come with a manual, I downloaded the manual (all 220 pages) and actually skimmed it very easily with the PDF reader! That was amazing. Come to find out, the manual was actually on the included SD card, but there was no file manager to access it (but there is an app!) Now maybe this phone is so awesome because I'm getting ~4mbps throughput (yes, throughput) with my HSDPA connection....but it works pretty good on Edge too. The Wifi antenna is reasonable for the size of the phone, though my laptop usually gets a stronger signal. The ability to switch from the Sense UI to the normal Adroid environment sweet. I don't know why they have to still call it Touch Flo though. That is just confusing (but I can deal with it!). Start up time (boot) for the Hero is abysmal. I have not timed it but probably on the order of 1 minute. Hope you don't need to call the hospital or something. Have no idea how the iPhone compares. My solution, just leave the phone on.
The day after I bought the phone I set it next to my friends iPhone. I thought, ohh no! His screen is much bigger. This is going to be a train wreck. After a week, I much prefer the Hero size screen. It is so much easier using with one hand. I can type and browse fairly easily with one hand. Plus, when you actually use the Hero as a phone (to your ear) you don't look like you're talking into a small TV. It fits in my pocket much better than the iPhone. Still looking for a really good case that protects and is small. I do wish the "back" button was on the other side of the phone as it is a bit awkward. I guess the designer was a lefty. I can deal with that. The build quality is quite nice, though the back panel is quite flimsy. I hope they sell replacements because it is going to break sometime.
HTC Hero, what I always really wanted my Dell Axim X51v to be.

... bought mine couple a days ago, when breaking my Diamond.
just to say: I love the "hero". and as Im "lefty" I love it even more...
Now just waiting for decent outlook calendar syncing program (funambol) for android to be ready and good offline navigation option, as usually I need navigation when out in foreign country and roaming fees are quite high then.
P.S. I will never go back to WM... never ...
Another satisfied Hero customer here as well And I second the WM opinion, I had a XDA Exec for years - and although the hardware was good the OS just ruined it!

You're right. I don't see a divx/xvid player yet.
