....i was given the settings by Centennial, and given the username and password, and the password is 4 characters.....
i put it in, and try to connect, and it gives me an error, then when i go back to the settings, in the password field, there's like 12 characters there....any idea what might be causing that?
I bought the Sprint Touch, and paid the Metro folks to get it "full flashed" (with Internet, MMS and ESN added to Metro inventory) to MetroPCS (these guys do a side business of flashing Sprint/ VZW phones to Metro). The GPS still doesn't work - they said that they charge more money to do that and might involve installing another ROM, and it'll take more time (I thought they didn't know much more, and just might be reading this forum to know what they do).
The phone has the stock ROM (latest 3.03.651.4 provided by HTC with Win Mobile 6.1, with Radio version 3.42.30) - how can I enable the GPS? Will it involve a new ROM? If so, will it remove my metroPCS flashed settings and ESN from imetro inventory?
Any help appreciated.

I dont know who these guys are your dealing with, but if you actually paid them to flash a ROM onto MetroPCS - weird they flashed it to the Last known Sprint Stock ROM and left it at that level
If you press and hold the power button+camera button+stylus in reset hole until a 2-color screen comes up - what is it that it says in the upper left
That will say if it is unlocked it is is at level 2.31
from there you can search and find any custom ROM and see if that will do what you want with internet, data, etc including GPS
Detroit Doug
Thanks D_D,
Question again: The Vogue ESN is already added to the Metro PCS inventory (my phone is activated) - will flashing another ROM remove it from the inventory in any way (will I have to reactivate)?
I guess after flashing, I'll have to modify the settings to get the MMS and Internet working again, right? I've seen many ROMs around here - do you suggest any (heard 6.5 is the latest craze)? I think I should be flashing to a Generic ROM, not a Sprint one, right?
BTW,
the 4-color screen after power+camera+stylus in reset tells me the following:
VOGU100
SPL-2.01.0000
CPLD-3
Serial
So I guess it is not really unlocked, eh? I think I'll have to unlock it(with Imcokeman's unlocker) before I flash a ROM...
I have mine on metro running winmo 6.5 v7 and all works great. Just have to read the forum. By flashing another rom it will no change your radio info, but your personal data such as contacts txt and emails will get erased. All you do is back it up and then restore it.
joeblaster,
Are you running NFSFan's ROM v7? WHat GPS cab did you install for MetroPCS? I think NFSFAN has attached the ones for Sprint, Verizon, Alltela and Telus.
Also, is the MMS and internet working? Did you use the settings from the Stickied thread?

Yes I am using wm6.5 ver7 and I did use the settings and everything is working, mms, internet and gps. Here is the link I used for gps http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36377
you have to find a program called
qpst to edit this on the radio gps1
Server IP Address = 198.17.1.0
Server Port Number = 3425
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calcultation = mobile
for the Internet you have delete the existing connection and use the following settings:Number to dail = #777
Username: [email protected]
Password: metropcs
Domain: (Leave Blank)
Select Proxy Settings and enter the following values:
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (http)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:443 (secure wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (socks)
on the advance tab select your current connection name for both work network and internet.
Oh, you dont need any gps cab and I dont think there is one, just have to edit the settings manually.

joeblaster, thanks for your reply. I have the internet and MMS working, but GPS is a no-go still. I tried these GPS settings in the thread that you mentioned but they did not work - maybe I am doing something wrong. Would be grateful if you could check your QPST and registry settings for me and help me out.
Using QPST, under gps1 tab, there are fields for
PDE IP Address = (NOTE that this is not Server IP - or is it?)
PDE Port Number = (NOTE that this is not Server Port - or is it?)
PDE Transport =
Position Calculation =
Now, when you fill in Server IP and Server port per your earlier post, do you input these numbers in the PDE IP and Port fields?
Also, did you tweak the registry as the thread mentions. If so under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\SUPL AGPS, what are your settings for:
GPSMode =
ServerIP =
ServerPort =
Do you input the same values as you posted in the step above for Server port and IP?
I am confused between PDE IP/port and Server IP/Port values. Are these supposed to be the same in QPST and registry?

Hi..ok you are on the right track, yes you have to enter the PDE Ip adress and the port number by hand on the qpst:
PDE IP:198.17.1.0
PDE Port: 3425
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation =Mobile
(important, make sure that all the check marks on the left are checked, just uncheck them and check them back up, write to phone, ##3424# exit, yes, soft reset with power button.
Must update Registry by hand as well:
GPSMode = 4(not 2 takes forever)
ServerIP = 198.17.1.0
ServerPort =3425
after updating registry, soft reset again and you are done.Try it with gps viewer and see if if locks.
Let me know if you need more help.
I got a question, is it Position Calculation =Mobile or PDE cuz its says on PPC geek Using mobile will work, but takes longer.. so witch is best Mobile or PDE?
Same problem on Verizon
I flashed to OME 6.1 then updated the radio then NFS 6.5 everything works but the stupid GPS I have tried many different things that are online even going back to sprint rom without gps and them flash all the way to 6.5 anyone has a solution to get the gps working on the xv6900. I will really appreciate it.
Thread moved to General.
well anyways people are getting cheated by the cricket company on flashing and junk but i assure you that this well work without the *228 CRAP
first offfff if yours is rooted with z4root you have to factory reset it cause z4root wont work with that junk
dail ##778 and go to the prl setting update it with this file http://www.mediafire.com/?t6o7shabflfj4hh then hit menu and commit changes wait until it reboots.
mmkkk then now go back into pst setting go to nam and name the NAM name cricket and MDN your number like 555-555-555 you get the example lol
now the MIN1 should be your other number (which you obtained from cricket themselfs) like 555-5555 and the MIN2 should be your area code
and MSID should be the MIN2 and MIN1 combined together in that order MCC should be 310 and the ACCOLC should be 1 leave the rest of the alone then go to CDMA setting and put EVRC shhould be disabled and everything im going to post below is from thisss guyy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1430573 Click view info click modem settings, change slot cycle index to 1, This will make the phone ring a little sooner, also get your texts a bit sooner. The other 4 options should be Auto, Auto, Enable, No in Order from top to bottom.
8. Click View Info and pick Security, now we are changing this regardless you must do this, we are going to Unauthenticate you and Re-authenticate, it is a Needed step everything in this How To needs to be done and Not skipped! Change the HDR Auth User ID to something bogus like [email protected], the password below it make it something random but remember it, now do the same for PPP user ID and password but make them the same as the HDR ones.
9. Click view info and pick MIP Settings, Make sure Active Profile is on 0, MIP mode should be Simple IP only, MIP reg retries should be 1, MIP reg retry timeout should be 2000 ms, MIP pre-reg timeout should be 30, Mobile Node HA auth should be Disable, send a reg request should be Enable, dormant handoff to disable.
10. Click view info and pick MIP Default Profile, Enable profile should be ENABLE, NAI should be [email protected], MN HA SPI set should be enable, MN HA SPI value should be 12c, MN AAA should be enable, MN AAA SPI value should be 2, reverse tunneling should be enable, home address should be 0.0.0.0, Primary HA address should be 68.28.15.12, secondary should be 68.28.31.12, HA shared secret and AAA secret should be cricket <--lowercase, DMU public should be 0, MN Authenticator should be 0.
11. Click view info and pick MIP customer profile 1 and make sure Enable profile is DISABLED. Now do the same with the other 4 profiles (profiles 2-5), make sure that the only profile enabled is MIP Default Profile.
12. Ok now click menu, ok and let it reset, but make sure not to do anything we are going to be going right back INTO EPST, so when it boots back up open the Phone application and dial ##778 call button (PST/EPST), we are going to re-authenticate you its easy, now click edit and enter six zeros, click view info and goto Security, now change the HDR AN Auth to [email protected], password should be cricket<--lower case, same for PPP user id and Password make them same as HDR.
13. Click view info and goto MIP default profile, make sure the HA, and AAA shared secrets are both cricket<---lowercase, then click menu OK and let it reset.
and p.s. for mms to work you download backup restore then reboot into recovery and and flash this file cricket web/mms downthere some where and here are the apns to restore it 475191View attachment 475191 on the apn setting go to the apn and restore app and then click delete then restore from your apn file i gave there you go and if you need like help and junk message me or something
Now how are people on froyo without epst supposed to do this?
Sent from my Vanilla FroShedYo using XDA App
Do a nand backup of your Froyo ROM
flash a SenseUI ROM like xtrSense
Do the ##778 stuff.
Do a nand restore of your Froyo ROM

Which Roms or any particular? Anyone tested CM7.03 2.3.3?
I'm running CM7.03 GB 2.3.3 on D1. Has anyone tested this config?
If you can, how?
The phone was on T mobile but unlocked, two calls in two days with them (02) but now they cant help!. The guy yesterday told me to upgrade the rom (which I did after he sent the link via email).....but still didnt work!.
Phoned again today only to be told that there's nothing else they can do and that I'd need to use T mobile to get on.
So much for a unlocked fancy bloody phone when you cant use it right
Do you have the right APN settings?
Name O2 WAP PRE PAY
APN payandgo.o2.co.uk
proxy not set
port not set
username payandgo
password password
server not set
MMSC not set
MMS proxy not set
MMS port not set
MCC 244
MNC 10
Authentication type none
APN type not set
Yes all that was the first thing I did
It's probably just something (little) with your connection settings. Over the years on my O2 payg SIM I've had to use various configurations to get up and running under Windows Mobile. I know how frustrating it can be.
What ROM are you running, a COM 2 based build with the start button at the top, or COM3/5 with the start button at the bottom? More recent ROMs should automatically attempt to configure your data connection for you on first boot.
Try post 3 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=590162&highlight=payg+connection+settings
I had a Word Doc that I wrote for a friend a couple of years ago but I'm having trouble finding it. Try the above, if it doesn't work I'll look again for you.
Hava a read here too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390017
I use an unlocked Verizon Droid Pro in Germany with Vodafone. The phone works fine. I can place and receive calls, also abroad. I can also send sms messages. But I cannot connect to the internet via GSM. I added an APN with web.vodafone.de and select that APN to be used but it doesn't work.
Anyone has an idea on that? Is it locked on Verizon internet gateway (which is of course not available)?
Thanks for any help.
Hi,
I have the same config and it is working fine.
Only MMS are not working with any config.
I have only set
Name: vodafone
apn: web.vodafone.de
mcc: 262
Mnc: 02
Everything else is not set!

Hello,
I had the same problem with my unlocked Droid Pro... I am working in mobile network company, so found the problem only because I was able to trace it directly in equipment
There are fields username/password fields in the APN settings. Whenever you let these fields empty (because your carrier does not need them) - phone sends [email protected] instead of login name, and authentication server rejects your internet request because of bad login. So you have two options:
1. Ask your carrier to activate "authentication override" in the network - but I don't think that they'll do it because of one complaint
2. Search for a file named “pppd-ril.options” in /system/etc/ppp/peers and open it with text editor. There are two fields in this file:
user [email protected]
password NotUsed
You should just delete user and password values, so the text should be:
user
password
Don't touch other lines. Also you should be root for it.
Hope it helps.

Thanks. That really was the point. However even I got root I could modify but not safe that file. Every text editor came back with a write error. So I went to Settings-Wireless-Mobile Networks-Access Point Names and created a new APN instead of using the APN given there. I then selected the new APN to be used. I guess that one does not hold the NotUsed entry mentioned above.
Once more thanks a lot
Btw: Any idea why I cannot modify the original file?
Nice that it works
I also had problems with saving... finally, after a lot of headaches SUFBS file manager helped - you can mount system as read-write there.
This is also solution on Atrix 4G/MB860 on AT&T stock fruitcake 4.5.145
