Does anyone have a solution for The hardware rocker on devices such as the Wizard for Opal Volume Control ? Im so close to banging my head against the wall. Any advice/help would be appreciated
bump
Would also like to be able to assign volume control to a hardware key. Any takers on how this is done?
----------bump----------
Anyone? at all? please? *starts to cry*
Anyway, this would be great! It is the only thing missing from my kaiser using the Opal roms. Especially in audio manager where the only way to change the volume is by tapping the volume icon in the start bar. The scroll wheel does nothing at all!
So I would love to see someone take a try at this!
C'mon some help please 608 views not one reply. Is this something that can not be done? Is there not a way to make a shortcut to the volume control so you can launch it similar to S2U2-VC or Setvolume? Please any type of reply would be helpfull.
bump again
I was hoping for an answer to this too but in my quest to find this answer. I came up with a much simpler solution (for me anyway).
I love A_C's S2U2 application and several versions back, he implemented a volume control screen which looks JUST like HTC's except that both volume bars are on one page. (Myself, I think HTC ripped the idea from A_C but made it with 2 tabs so it looked different enough.) What I ended up doing was using that volume control module instead of HTC's since the S2U2 one CAN be bound to a hardware key since it's a shortcut that sits in your start menu.
all very true, i remember trying it right before the HTC version came out, and i found them quite similiar. The only thing is, I do not use s2u2 anymore and it would be nice to have it built into the stock opal manager as that is what comes up when you change volume in the audio manager and the system icon...
There is a way to create a shortcut that will call an IN MEMORY address, I just have no luck getting the correct address for the Volume Control
I use smartskey and the volume up/down key on my Wizard works in Opal Volume Control

Hi,
Boto has given a smartskey.ini file which enables opal volume control to work with volume slider.
I did not tested because wizard's volume slider is damaged. Can you test it. I have Attached the file below
Thanks

Has anyone figured out how to remap the volume slider on the Wizard?
I hardly ever want to change volume, just turn on/off vibrate mode which is a single keypress anyway, but i would really like it to be an up/down control like my old Dell Axim.
I know it functions like this in IE full screen mode, but I really want it for everything (especially MS Reader).
I think a lot of people would like this. It allows a better grip on the phone whilst moving within the app you're using (eg: MS Reader).
Any guru's got an idea about this one?
Joe
Remapping
Absolutely neccessary thing to fix (volume slider)!
And as using double-language hard-keyboard layout I am in desperate need to remap the change-layout sequence.
What about remapping in this OS, is it possible to do something?
Someone did this on the Magician (found it in that group on here at the time), I remember finding it very useful!
If someone could do a Wizard version that would be great!
Solution Found
Here is how you do it (and it was on the Magician forums, thx for the tip :wink: ):
Install the program found at the URL below, or from the attachment as you wish.
When you get the setup screen, choose "Do not handle" for all except the volume slider, which is set to up/down.
Ok it, and there you go, slider is now up/down and works in MS Reader, Today screen, and general folder browsing.
It says on the site not to put it on any device not listed as compatible, which doesn't include the Wizard, but "He who dares, wins..."
I am well chuffed with it. Now I am all ready for my commute on Monday.

Unless this is a new version. DO NOT USE AEB+ WITH A WIZARD
I tried AEbuttons plus awhile ago and It deleted a couple of my buttons. I dont think it is meant for a device with as many buttons as the wizard. I had to go in and manually create the buttons again. I told it to handle all buttons though. Maybe telling it to only handle the volume slider doesn't cause this problem. I won't try it again until they actually say the wizard is compatible.
I just checked all buttons having read your post.
The only casualty is the connection manager button, which now only switches from audio vol. on to vibrate ringers when held down, and I have an icon on the today screen to go there anyway.
I can live with that
BUT BEWARE: No comms manager button = no hard reset = what do you do when you need to hard reset?

I just checked if it is possible to restore the connection manager button after installing AE Button Plus, and it seems to work
Just add these registry keys after you have installed the software and you have all your buttons back and an up down slider:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C6]
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"ResetCmd"="\"\\Windows\\AppButtons\\Comm Manager.lnk\""
"Icon"="\\windows\\CommManager.exe, 0"
"Name"="Button 5"
@="\"\\Windows\\AppButtons\\Comm Manager.lnk\""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C5]
"Flags"=dword:00000000
"ResetCmd"="\"\\Windows\\AppButtons\\Record.lnk\" -b"
"Icon"="\\windows\\HotVoice.exe, 0"
"Name"="Button 4(Hold)"
@="\"\\Windows\\AppButtons\\Record.lnk\" -b"
You can put this in a .reg file and open it on your Wizard to import into the registry
I don't think Windows minds the button to be remapped for a hard reset, the hard reset will probably still work if the button is remapped by software.
Did you figure out which reg entries are actually changed when the slider is remapped by AEB? If we can figure this out, we could create a file to do this without the need to recreate.
I am also getting slowdowns/crashed on syncing via USB, and am beginning to wonder if this is another AEB effect.

I can't find any slider registry entries, but I have no idea where to look
I have noticed that once I close the AEB program my slider doesn't do anything anymore, so it might be possible that it is not just a registry entry
Maybe it's just me but the sound when i change the volume of the diamond freaks me out... especially when i'm listening music with earplugs and i just wanna do it a little more louder it disturbs me.
Is there a way to make them go away? Maybe just erase the soundfiles? If yes, can somebody please tell me where i can find them?
pls help me
You can disable the 'sound beeps while changing volume' by using Diamond Tweak.
Thanks a lot for helping me fixing my problem...
I installed diamond tweak already but i did not find a tweak for fixing my prob.
I have Installed the 0.5 version is there a newer one? I couldn't find one in the internet so far...
Tweak # 1.5 in Diamond Tweak.
But it is only for in call beeps as the description says. Still you can try it. Sorry if it doesnt help.
still have this issue on Wm6.5 energyrom phoenix 2
I cannot disable the volume change sound.
Tried looking for wav files, tried using advancedtweak (And other tweak programs).
I can only get them to shut off when in a call. I want them to be disabled forever. Any solution ideas
Same here. I have looked in the registry and I can't find anything about the volume beep not incall.
i was looking for the same thing and the only solution i found was to install another volume control app
S2U2 includes a silent volume control that works perfectly
Hi,
When browsing the HD2 forums (I'm gonna get one in a few days, yay!) I found this:
75. Disable Beeps When Altering Volume
When you press the volume key you getting annoying beeps. This tweak allows to change the volume silently without the beeps.
HKCU\ControlPanel\Volume\Mute Change from 3 to 1.
It worked on my TP so I assume it'll work on you Diamond to.
Cheers,
/Cacti

Just tested on Topaz and it works like a charm
So simple
Cheers for that mate
Take care
actually tested it and it's wrong
what it does is disables events, reminders and sets notifications to silent
maybe it works on Leo but not on Topaz
Hello,
I have seen on a rom (I don't remember what) a special volume control with the both ring volume and system volume on the same panel.
Is somebody has it ?
Thank's
i have that function through the use of S2U2, and within there menu system its accesible
that is the volume control off the touch pro.
roms like swift have it cooked in.
cant share mine as i have modifyed it.
someone will post it up for you.
Thank's for your help,
I know the volume control of the touch pro but this has just one panel
One day I seen a volume control with two cursor on the same panel
It was on shootscreen of a cooked rom.
may be I found It
Thank's
The HTC volume control is sexy and everything but it's not as usable for me as the default Windows Mobile volume bubble that I've been using for years.
When I press the hardware volume buttons I want to set the volume for the whole device (SMS & email notifications, music playback etc) but the HTC screen always defaults to the ring volume (which I never need to adjust).
The WM volume bubble on my Elf was always focussed on the System slider and I'd like to drop the HTC screen in favour of it, assuming it works the same way. Anybody know of a way of doing this?
Its al over this forum
Try searching the forum next time!
But for now, change the following registry setting:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ HTC \ VolumeOverlay \
change "DefaultPage" to 0
Oops Sorry
I've been reading the Blackstone forum for a few months and didn't notice any threads on this.
I'll try your solution. Thanks.
Hmm. I've changed that reg. value and it hasn't made any difference. Is that a Blackstone-specific solution or is it from the Diamond or Pro forums?
I've checked the reg. value after a soft-reset and it's still set to zero but the HTC volume screen still takes over.
I'm also pissed off the HTC customizations. I want a WM6.1 Professional, not any customizations at all.
Is there a way to disable them all?
There is a way, try this CAB
If you don't like just unistall! Using it for myself.

That's excellent - it has disabled the HTC volume control on my HD. Thank you very much.
Good, but you lose the 10 step control over volume (was only available on the system volume anyway).

Nice one!
HTC volume control is not my cup of tea.
This seemed to be working fine until a soft reset when the device reverted back to the HD volume slider. Also the CAB doesn't seem to actually install anywhere. It doesn't show up in the remove programs list.
@Koffein Schluck: Thank you for this nice cab-file! I also dislike the new HTC volume control.
@Anfloyd: I don't have these problems. The cab appears in the remove programs list and I have the classic volume control after a soft reset.

works for me on the HD without problems, even after Soft Reset....

a good one
here is a good one with ring and system just installed on the latest flash touch-it 5.1
ftp://ftp.minftp.myftp.org/XperiaX1i/Touch-IT_Blackstone/Touch-IT_Blackstone_volumecontrol.cab
yet another one
This shareware app enables the WM volume and yet it extends it to be finger friendly, plus other innovative features.
Cheers
I recently flashed my Cruise with PDAVIET ROM WM 6.5 Build 21202.5.0.0 and wanted to get the opal/diamond volume control on it. I installed one cab which didn't work and after i uninstalled the volume slider now scrolls like the wheel what did i do and how can i fix it?

Yes i have this prob to...
i also cant tap the little speaker to get the volume. i did notice that in the buttons setting i have to extra "button" entries that i assume are the volume slider. can no-one help out?
edit: Well i am sure this is not the way you are meant to do it, but....
i installed the cab from here: http://freewareppc.com/download/utilities/setvolume.shtml and assigned one of the extra butons to the link it created in the start menu. the other was set to scroll down, but not sure if that matters or not. it seemd to work fine now. hope that help you Alexander-Vogt1
edit2:
not that great at fixing it actually. it only works if that app is running in the background well it's a temporary fix for now at least.
OK....

to get original settings back?
Olioaglio
looks like i'll have to, ut i would still like to use one of the HTC volume controls instead of the default WM one. But if this is going happen each time i install one...
OK so i have done a hard reset... all back to normal now. Is there any of the HTC volume control apps that i can use with WM 6.5 without breaking it?
