I've done a search of this forum & wiki, and the web, but I can't figure out where to get the themes that you guys have in the screenshots thread.
You all seem to take it as normal but I've no idea how to get started!
BTW, I have OzVGA on my Exec, is that going to be an issue?
If it's possible to convert them, I'd really like my PC's current theme!
(Clicky for big)
P.S. Is there a VGA Windows Media Player theme that gets rid of the nasty black bar at the base of the screen?
I am using Wisbar Advance as are quite a few others. The themes you need a are all over the internet, just google "wisbar theme" and you'll see what I mean.
For true VGA you will generally need to use QVGA themes, sounds daft but trust me.......
Here I'm using a vista theme for WA2 and WMP with the Expea2 extended theme for SPB Pocket Plus off the SBSH forum.
By the way, what XP theme are you using??
Hi Pug ,
where can i download the theme ...that u have attached in the previous reply. its really nice
plz give me the link to download
Many thanks,
Gopi

There is a problem with the WMP skin not keeping it's selection so the patched files are attached here.
Remember if you are using a "normal" display you need the VGA themes, if you are using TrueVGA you will need the qVGA with maybe the WMP VGA skins etc... Confusing but I didn't make the rules.

But there are no native VGA skins... In each case it's resized QVGA skin, so the quality is very poor ;(
Can anyone post their VGA themes here? I can't understand their language so I can't register
I'll try and dig up my hacked version of the iPhone VGA theme that was from the clownfish one on ppc-theme but without the fish background and put it up later on tonight.
Ok here's the files I used to get it working. I did some editing of the original clownfish files to remove their original background but still able to keep the icons and menu bar. Works like a charm for me. qa_layout and the games.reg enable the 9 button support.
Enjoy
clownfish = iphone vga clone that they did on the ppc-theme site.
Al i want is the diamond look in spb 2.1, like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402021 ..... who can me help with that??

Is this a native VGA or a resized QVGA ?
Can you post some screen shots ?
I believe it's native vga. Like I said I just simply extracted the clownfish cabs and used the .dat files I needed and modified them accordingly to remove the fish background so I could just use the default colour theme backgrounds that come with it.
Basically it's the bottom menu bar, and the icon pack for the program menu. The rest is all default SPB stuff, but it works nice for me.
You can see some pics of basically what it looks like at the link below. Honestly I'm too lazy to screenshots and upload them, sorry, heh.

Is this all the themes that we can get ???
what are the chances to have some of the amazing stuff that posted in the SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 Theme / Skin Collections Thread ???

It's not really a VGA theme but a blown up QVGA. But I made a VGA version of the diamond touch clock which is used in the "layout_C_3_contacts_vga" theme.

MANILA 2D "How-Too-From-Scrach" tutorial request... and a bloody LIVERPOOL theme!
Greetings, lads.
This is probably, possibly, definitely the best forum for mobile apps/hack etc!
I own an OMNIA since one month (I DIDN'T checked out to see... OMNIA II is on the way - and it's a bloody awesome phone, the best!), I'm "playing" a lot, I'm "wearing" a "Sector Zeus" Rom (Sector is the very best "cooker" to me) and I've changed almost EVERY POSSIBLE UI there is in the planet, to find out what I like more!
Many UIs are simply... "disaster", some o' them are quite good, few are really great... but I think (these lucky HTC bastards!) Manila 2D with TouchFlo is the BEST, the SIMPLIEST, the MOST FINGER-FRIENDLY of all!
So... I'm using M2D along with "Zeus BlackLite"...
Now... I want to find a GOOD, step-by-step tutorial of HOW TO MAKE MY OWN themes for M2D!
I'm capable to make good looking graphics (check my web-site: http://www.lupus-creations.gr - press the ENGLISH version! The other is... "all Greek to u"!), but I don't have a single clue of how to make a M2D theme or to make it in .CAB VERSION!
Can you give me your "lights"?
Also, finally, I've search the web to find out a decent LIVERPOOL FC theme, to install it first in my OMNIA, till I make my OWN Liverpool FC theme.
Is there any?
Thxs in advance for any kind answer of yours.
Regards,
R.
Best way to start mate is to take another theme unpack it then start replacing the graphics files with your own some of the Manila themes come Packaged in .m2dct (manila.m2dct) change the m2dct to .zip (Manila.zip) some come in cab files you can download freeware ce cab file software google it
Like your graphics and look forward to seeing your themes
Nice example here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424479
Got it...
I'm on it... Thxs, m8. And for your kind words, too.
I posted a cab with an xml tat makes less files to edit. it should be in the mega manila thread. Unpak the ab with wince cab manager or better yet ervius package creator.
in te initflashfiles ou will notice tat onl half of the files get dumped in windows. (lower file count in windows folder = better performance) I also got rid of 28 files that repeat them selves through out the tabs. also I changed most of the bitmaps to PNG'S (MUCH Better) some files still have to be bitmaps like the ones in the photo tab.
so it is less work and I tink that it should be a great starting point for you.
I personally like to make "performance" themes for manila. that is to say hemes made for low end devices like the wizard which has limited space ram and processor. so I usually save most of my files in 8bit 16 colors.
the challenge for me is to make it look good and work fast... currently working on a "ducati" theme. should live up to it's name.
I was actuall thinking about writing a tutorial recently concerning making lighter skins. reaon I started to make my own is that on some occasions I would istall some one elses on my wizard (when i still had it) and would get terribly dissapointed at he performance drop.
I think that will be my next project.
EDIT: found the page fot you.

BLOODY MARVELOUS, dear "S.V.I"!!!
Thxs a lot!
Another Q.
I've start workin' in a M2D skin o' mine...
I can't understand - first - HOW can I enable the ANALOG clock instead of the digital and... HOW - second - a skinner is managing to PLACE the analog clock NOT in the middle but in the upper-left corner! I've seen some skins, with the analog NOT IN THE MIDDLE! I want the same thing for my background pic, 'cause I have my "theme" in the middle and right... and I've left "empty" (more-or-less) the upper-left, for the clock...
Can you please gimme your "lights"?
Thxs.
P.S.: Generally, .png are TOTALY suitable for interfaces, instead .bmp - .bmp are HUGE kb's images and therefore, the skin will be "hard" for less-powerful devices.
enabling the analogue clock i a rgistry setting in hlkm.software.htc.manila.home. set the reg to 0.
there is a value in the home xml tat movs the center position of the clock. the number digits have to be moved also. the values for that are top left corner of the image file. it helps to draw a huge cursor layer to help you figure out the poitioning.
sorry for the spelling. my keyboard is misbehaving. mut be dirt under the keys.
as soon a I have some free time (hopefully this weekend) I will write this tutorial thing.
I have finally got the latest manila "fixed" with analogue clock as well as digital
did ou know that the botom bar (slider) can be only 1pxl wide?
Well, m8... you gotta write down this bloody tutorial for M2D!
I can't wait!
I hope you write it in this weekend... I'll be around, every day!
Cheers and thxs!
Can someone help me, i would like to change my 2.5 slider icons so they would look like the rhodium stock ones. I've attached a file (i don't remember which member did this.. sorry) with them resized to work properly with SENSE 2.1 's calendar tab (because of the date shown on the calendar icon).
more specifically, i'd like to know how to extract the files from that cab, and where i can get a 2.5 slider cab so i can change the colored icons to those black and white ones, plus new ones for the footprint & the twitter tab
Actually i have good basics on program developping but i have never made an executable cab file.
Also, does anyone know how i can get rid of taskbar icons that were pre-installed on a rom that i use (uzeb french rom).. i think he used this package ( http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=65911 ) (it's the same icons that i have on my device) but i would like to use the original 6.5 icons instead.
Thanks in advance!!!

To extract files from a .cab, I usually use cab2oem.exe, which will more or less achieve what you want.
To make .cab files, I use WinCE Cab Manager, which costs $99, though there are excellent free alternatives, such as QuickCab, if you don't need advanced features.
Lastly, to replace the icons, you need to use an untouched shellres.192.dll from a 6.5 ROM. Since I was working on a project involving such a file, I'll attach it (as a .cab installer). Just install it to your device, soft reset, and you're good to go. If the cab doesn't work, or it produces unexpected results, just uninstall it and post what happened here.
EDIT: It's attached. I had to zip it because the upload kept failing.
thanks a lot for your time dave, but i didn't see any images after extracting my cab, i just got 38 files without extentions (0cfe494a_manila, 59c727fc_manila,...) ---> 12 of them are 65kb each, 24 are 17kb each + I also have 1XML file, 1 RGU, 1 TEXT and 1 DSM. To be honest, i don't know what to do with that at all
And about your cab, well it did restore the SIGNAL icon and the notification icons (new text, missed calls...) but the rest stays the same (wifi, active sync, battery, volume...)
Anyway, thanks again man you're great

The manila files are as they should be. Manila uses PNG images that are somehow reformatted in a proprietary way, to become the xxxxxxxx_manila files. If you need to edit them, I'd look into Mode9 editor, or another manila editing program. Just set the directory that the xxxxxxxx_manila files are in for all folder options (when you start it for the first time), and you're good to go.
The DSM, XML, RGU, and Initflashfiles.txt files are useful only for cooking ROMs. Cab2oem is a tool for creating oem packages from cab files, so they can be baked into a ROM. Since you aren't cooking a ROM, you know that the files go into the \Windows folder, and there aren't any registry entries (confirmed by looking through the .RGU), they're not terribly useful to you.
As for the icons, I don't quite know what else to do. You could try dumping your ROM and looking for the images you don't want, then dumping a stock 6.5 ROM and taking the images you want from that. Then, you could create a .cab to replace the images, but I think that'd be a lot of work, not really worth it, and there's no guarantee it'd even work.
Also, if you manage to create a black and white slider, post it on XDA please(I like the black and white style from the older versions much more than the colored ones). Hope that helps
OMGHAX 600th post!
well the cab in the first post IS a fully working b&w slider but for SENSE2.1, all the icons are from the winmo 6.1 stock rom so if u have sense 2.1 in your device, my friend you will be happy with that cab trust me (somebody from xda did it for me a couple of weeks ago and i've tested it myself.. but i wanted SENSE 2.5 in french so much and a rom just came out that is not heavy on memory usage so i flashed my device for the 1st time but sadly, the rom was too customized ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/editpost.php?do=updatepost&p=4984984 ) even if the tweaking part is perfect
can't nobody take a look at this? Think about it guys : to have sense 2.5 with a the BLACK & WHITE stock SLIDER. + All the icons are provided with the perfect size (in the cab) except for twitter & footprints!! :S
wouldn't it be great?
so, nobody wants to see their rhodiums to look classy with 6.5? ...
just kidding
bump. i want some classy b&w slider icons for sense 2.5 (unfortunately, i cant help). my today screen just getting too much on it with maxmanila and i think it would look cleaner. the dusk theme has good looking slider, but i would like to see just the slider and not the whole thing (plus dont think its compatible with my current rom; juicy r5)

i'm with you on that, i mean there's too much colour on manila 2.5 home screen for our devices,... at least, if the slider looked like the stock one, b&w, the screen would look cleaned up,.. plus having a stock feel on it
(ag'n, sorry if me english bad izz, native language french )
I would also be interested in the STOCK black and white icons for the bottom bar/slider in Manila / Sense 2.5...
Thanks.
well i'm not a cook or a chef, but since an official landscape support is (obviously) coming soon, i think i will work on that seriously.. all the knowledge i have on the subject is what has been advised by "dave the tytnII guy" a couple of posts ago..
so to begin with that, i need the manilla files coming out of both:
-a basic sense 2.5 (by that i mean a portrait "only" version)
-the files from sense 2.5 with official landscape support (just like in ark666's latest rom)
-plain b&w icons for the footprint tab + the document tap + twitter tab (i have my ideas on how to get these but the final result may not be perfect..)
so i'll be sure to make 2 of them (since there's the document tab in the second one + landscape so there may be more files to handle -- also the one with landscape may not work on portrait versions of sense 2.5)
--->> i'm asking u xda folks : can anyone provide me those manilla files, and will anyone be able to put my work into a cab? (i'm not a pro, i'm just a passionnate HTC user )
currently using nrgz latest 2.5 rom, and i would also like to have a custom slider.
so far
i have done an export of all manila files from the phone to the pc, and then used cfc-gui to export all png file. this gives 1420 images.
i thought i could easily look through these files and spot which ones where the ones used for the slider and then replace them.
the trouble now is, i can see multiple images that could be the one used ( ie i have 5 twitter "t" that are all the right size )
so does any body know the manila file names of the items used in the sense 2.5 bar.
what would be handy is the manila file names for all
14 slider icons, the preview picture, also the icon used in the sense tab settings.
wow, this is exactly the way i have planned to proceed...
now, the only way i can think about is to start working with that, even if i have to do it one by one for all of the image files :S.. then it should work i guess
... but also we need to find the right images for both footprint and twitter tabs...
so nobody wants to see that happen i guess...
