So, I've been through 2 Moguls and both have the same problem.
First time, i downloaded and installed one of the newer builds of WMWiFiRouter. I started running it, turned on the hardware switch, and found my iPod Touch unable to get signal, despite the being inches away from the phone. I reset the install, and uninstalled it. running a new ROM, and the WiFi still didn't work. Read as "Unavailable" when it was on. So I called Sprint, and got a replacement, since i just assumed it had already been a replacement, and I assumed they gave it to me with Bum WiFi.
So Today I got the replacement. In the store i turned the hardware WiFi switch on, and got networks listed. I was happy to get WiFi on, so I installed WMWFR.. Again I received no signal. My Laptop couldn't see it at all. I upgraded the ROM, AND hard-Reset the device, and WiFi isn't even searching for local networks.
The only version that works for my Mogul is 1.20 any other version new or old I've tried doesn't work for me.. If you need a link PM me.

What rom/radio are you working with? I was afraid from the horror stories to upgrade wifirouter so I stuck with this one and is working perfectly.

I just also remebered that a long while ago I had a custom rom running and when I was first introduced to wmwifirouter, can't remember which version, wifirouter would work but then I could not seek any wifi networks on my titan. I had to revert back to stock rom then flash new and a new version of wifirouter came out which took care of the problem.
Well i think i was running the M2D Round 4 ROM, and what ever the newest Sprint radio is, and tried it again. It killed my WiFi, again. I reflashed to Stock ROM and I still can't recieve any signals.
Wow, I stumbled upon this thread and I have to say that I have used WMWifiRouter since it came out and I have not ever had a problem with it on my Mogul. I have the latest version 1.25, could be there is a new update already, anyways it should back up your wifi settings, registry and all, before it does its thing. It does have a recovery feature in the options menu. I don't really know how it could stop your wifi from working. A hard reset should fix the problem since from what I understand it changes some of the registry settings so that it can bind the radio to the wifi.
The Difference
My question is:
When using WmWiFi Router, for those that are using it...did they buy it or torrent it?
Perhaps those with success are bought, and without are torrenting / using initial free versions.

I installed that and my phone won't boot past the HTC screen. I have DCD 3.2.6 rom with 2.40 radio. Performing hard reset now.....
oh, and i forgot to turn my wifi switch on while installing the cab, maybe that's the reason....?
edit: after the hard reset, I tried the cab again with my wifi on, still no luck... oh, and i did a soft reset, and it won't boot past the HTC screen.. another hard reset required.

ive been runnin black majik for a while with no problems
until tonight, i wasnt doing anything an i noticed i had no service.
put my sim in an old phone and it worked
put a working sim in my phone and no service.
now i cannont connect to active sync, the light lights up orange for a second and the battery doesnt seem to charge.
altho it was working yesterday fine.
wtf happened?
Welcome to XDA developers on your first post - hopefully someone here can help.
The basic radio (phone) capabilities are determined by a combination of the OS ROM (Black MAJIK in your case) and (mainly) the radio version. Have you upgraded the radio? I have Black MAJIK and have no issues with the radio version 1.43. It sounds like you have 2 problems - the radio and then the USB activesync connectivity.
My obvious inclination would be to reset the device (hard-reset) but did you upgrade the radio and did the phone work straight after that upgrade process? Were there any warnings if you did upgrade the radio?
I normally have no problems at all with activesync but have occasionally seen the same fault as you (orange charge light with no activesync connection established - and sometimes a missing orange light even though the device has not been moved and is clearly connected).
I'd hesitate to offer any other advice just yet - let's see what your answers are and I am sure that others may step in to help. You might like to provide a few more details in your XDA dev profile and others will see where you are, what provider you are with and which model of Hermes you have.

i have the cingular 8525
and i have radio 1.40.30 i beleive thats what it said
and no this did not happpen when i was upgrading the radio...

ok well i flashed the 1.47 radio on there and i got service yet its horrible with att
i barely can make calls even with full service.

all these roms just keep searching for a network and do not connect.
ive tried soft and hard resetting many times with no prevail.
to fix the active sync issue i unintalled .net framework, then uninstalled atcive sync then reinstalled both, now onto this radio issue.
to be honest i thnk this started happening after i poked the light sensor on the keyboard with the stylus, but i doubt that would happen to have anything to do with it.
just so u all know i have tried numerous roms/radio combos, also tried the stock att cingular roms.

well after no prevail last night with the whole no service thing i wake up this morning put my sim back in, and what ya know i have full service.
althought i still returned it and got a new one because i got that 8525 not more than 30 days ago.
att was very quick to replace it considering its my second one in a month.
Hey guys and gals,
I have used a tilt for the past week or so, and I'm realizing that my 8525 may have issues. I am on campus with lots of access points that are hidden for the most part with WEP security, and while the tilt never had any issues, my 8525 likes to drop the profile. While it's trying to connect, it will ask me for the WEP key again saying that it's incorrect, and if I dismiss that notification, it deletes the profile.
Am I the only one with this issue?

what ROM are you using?
I am using the latest VP3G, 3.62.3, but if I remember correctly, the problem occurred in the WM5 rom from AT&T as well as the cooked WM6 I'm using now.
The radio version has not been touched that I know of -- it's still 1.16.
Anyone? Advice on what radio ROM to use, or would that fix the issue?
If your asking to upgrade the radio version for wifi performance, then don't because the radio has nothing to do with hermes wifi... Maybe a new os rom as mentioned will help...
I have the same exact problems with my 8525. My 8525 drops networks while my Tilt doesn't.
Mine had the same issue, i just upgraded to a different rom and it's fixed.
i had a similar issue but only when bluetooth was turned on as well. So when i want to use wifi i have to turn bluetooth off.
It didnt matter what ROM I was using.

Can anyone that switched roms confirm that they weren't using bluetooth all the time?
Turning on and off bluetooth is a major pain, but not as bad as having to drop another ROM on my phone

When I go into communications, and tap on wifi.....it turns on for a sec and then turns back off. Any suggestions?
Here is what I have done so far.....
Started with: Radio v. 1.39.00, ROM V. 2.13.656.2, Bootloader 1.2
Went to bootloader 2.40(via Hard-SPL-MF.exe), Scrosler's Titan ROM 3.26 w/touchflow. and then Radio 3.42.30.

Try the hardware switch on the side of the unit. The software switch was never able to work under most ROMs that I have ever used.
I toggled that (WiFi switch), and it does the same thing for me.
Should I try another ROM or radio version? I don't want to do a bunch of flashing.......anyone know a good firmware version (and radio v.) with everything working and ready to go in terms of functionality? I don't mind putting all the carrier info in etc, just want all the radios to work afterwards (wifi, eV(cellular data), cell, bluetooth, IR)
Never heard of the problem. I say reflash because something happened.
Changed the battery power option under wireless to best performance.....everything works now

When I use the ppckitchen my wifi refueses to work. I'm actually about to reflash it right now to DCD to see if it fixes it

The Switch seems to be malfunctioning...WHen I turn it off, it turns on the software for a second, then shuts off. WHen I turn it in the same thing happens. Really weird.
THis happened BOTH TIMES i reloaded the ROM.
im using the Kaiser Comm Manager(10 Buttons), and on it it always appears that the wifi is turned off, but functions fine with the switch

i have the exact same problem since a couple of month and i cant seem to find a fix for that. I dont even know if the problem is software on hardware related.
i have used dcd 3.2.6 and 4.1.2
and im currently running ryan 2.0 i think wm6.1
maybe i should try wm 6.5
the only thing i know is that i would REALLY like my wifi to work :'(

i am using the ryan 2.0 wm6.1 and my wifi does not work either, didnt work in wm6.5 and no available memory in 6.5 either so save your time.
my phone was a mix of 2 broken moguls, the only thing i dont have working is vibrate and wifi

DO you see a MAC address in the WLAN advanced settings?
If not, you just need to write a new MAC address and your WIFI will work, or so I have heard.
so... how do we enter in a MAC address if it is missing?

I need help desperately as my HTC touch unlocked phone (originally from Rogers) sometimes works (on Fido network) but most of the times it gives me the error that its Searching for the Signal and then turn the phone off and repeat the same process.
My Rom version is kwbr rom v4.5.3 wwe and Radio version is 03.39.90

Until today it worked great, always had the network and made/received calls every time. However today at work I noticed it was stuck on finding network, and wouldn't connect. Since then I've had it connect to the network sometimes, and about half my calls have been getting through, the other half had a few seconds of silence, no connection, followed by three beeps back on the dialer screen. I tried updating the radio, that didn't help, still the same issue. It's not the sim card, as it works 100% in my backup phone.
Anyone know what's causing this and if there's a way to fix it? I could try reflashing the rom, but I'd rather not lose all my installed programs and stuff.

I've tried reflashing the Onyx rom, as well as the Onyx 5 beta, and neither of these helped. The phone network connection is still intermittent, and when it does connect to the network it still takes a few tries before any call will dial out. I'll try completely restoring my original rom backup, but it's looking more and more likely that this is a hardware issue. If it is, how would I go about fixing it? I severely doubt it would be covered under any warranty, since I bought it used, so I'd probably have to do it myself if at all possible. Anyone know of anywhere to get parts for the Elf beyond the normal keypad/case/lcd stuff offered in most of the online parts stores?
Reflashing the original rom didn't do it either, looks like I'll have to contact HTC.
Let me know what solution they gave u.

As I said it's a used phone so it's probably out of warranty, but I'll get in touch with the guy I bought it from and see if Rogers will repair or replace it first, then if they can't or won't do anything for me I may email HTC. I'll bump this thread when/if I have any news.

Judging from the replies, you have a bad device.
HTC Service Centre might be the best place for you.
well the problem is that i didnt purchase it with the HTC or Rogers directly.
Anyways i will contact them again lets see how it goes
You can still bring down to HTC even if you didnt purchase from them.
But it must, of course, be made by HTC.
Hi guys. I just recently had to revert back to my touch due to my Pre crapping out. I'm actually kind of glad it did now that I see android is working pretty good on it.
I reactivated my phone through Sprint's site and calling works fine, however when it tries to connect to #777 it is unable. I haven't used the phone since last September and don't really remember what rom I have on there, but I beleive it was one of NSFAN's (sorry if I spelt that wrong). I'ts definetly running Win Mob 6.5. When I last used it everything ran fine. My goal is to get evrything working, and then try out some android roms. Can someone point me where I need be??? Thanks!
I am having this same issue after switching from my TP2 to my old Vogue. The voice and text services work but I cannot get data to work! My Vogue is also running on NSFAN's ROM. I think it has to do with the EPST settings but I don't know what needs to be changed. When I switched back to the TP2, it initially did not have data working either, but after I updated the profile, it seemed to fix the issue.
Does anyone know how to do update profile on the Vogue that has a custom rom?
Please help =)
