i hope that here are some people who wants to help me a bit....
i have several questions about cooking rom...
this is what i'm able to do now :
i have the German O2 Rom for Artemis/Orbit. I can extract it with the Artemis Core Pro Kitchen .... repack it.. and flash it... (i'm very proud of that =)))
so i have some questions...
1. If i extract it i get Sys-Folder, Oem-Folder, XIP, and OS.nb
1a) What is responsible for the Build Number? Only the OS.nb? Everything?
1b) Is the OS.nb localized? Or is only the Sys and OEM Folder responsible for the correct language?
1c) Is the OS.nb the same for every device? Can i do a Build update by replacing only the OS.nb?? Can i Simply use the OS.nb from lets say Kaiser to get a German rom with newer build?
There are some more questions.. but i think thats enough for now ...
thanks to everyone who takes time to reply...

1a I'm not realy shure but would also like to know
1b OS.nb is localized but then again not realy the OS.nb is containing all packs you have in the OEM and SYS folder when you rebuild the rom all changes made in OEM and SYS will be changed in OS.nb.
the OS.nb is there for the building only.... it has no real effect on the new OS.nb that comes out...
1c... No you can not just just replace the OS.nb with one from Kaiser you will need to dump the Kaiser rom and then replace the things you want from Kaiser in the OEM and SYS folder of your rom.
you could flash the Kaiser rom but there will be incompadableties with hardware. because some hardware is not the same.
hope this helps a bit and someone can corect me if I'm wrong

?! Sorry but what is XIP 20296 for Polaris, what does it?
Yes Please Tell Us For What Need This Xip ????
I'm not entirely sure, but I think a XIP is the OS part of a ROM. This file is needed when a ROM cook creates a ROM.

XIP is kernel of OS.
You can see a version of XIP: Start->Settings->System->About
OS CE 5.2.20296 is current XIP.
To build ROM with new XIP you must: put "MSPPCXIPKernel" and "MSXIPKernel" folders to "SYS" folder. Then build you new ROM with new XIP.
For Example you can use Polaris Kitchen v1.3 - WM6.1 (Build 19214.1.0.4)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379559
for build ROM.
Is it worked for ya?
Some kitchens or even ROM packages already comes with most files found in msxipkernel...you should cut off one side or another. I generally keep bottu.rgu alone in XIP and move msxipkernel to sys folder...then cook...
still playing with 20275.
Where 20296 is from?
Thanks for sharing!

If You use "Polaris Kitchen v1.3 - WM6.1 (Build 19214.1.0.4)"
You have 3 main folders: "SYS" "OEM" "ROM"
In "ROM":
You have "XIP" folder and "os.nb.payload" (XIP in "os.nb.payload")
In "XIP" folder you have ONLY "boot.rgu" (it is not main XIP)
In "OEM" you nave drivers and applications.
In "SYS" you have OS.
1)You must put "MSPPCXIPKernel" and "MSXIPKernel" folders to "SYS" folder.
2)Replace "os.nb.payload" in "ROM" folder. (because thet "os.nb.payload" with old XIP. You must put my "os.nb.payload" without XIP. And when you cook you ROM, new XIP copy from "MSPPCXIPKernel" and "MSXIPKernel" folders)
3)Put my "imgfs.bin" to main folder.
4)Run "BuildOS.exe"
5)Run "Build ROM.bat"
There where I took this XIP, written that it is taken from Diamond.
But i am not sure. Because i cant find official Diamond ROM with this XIP.
Thanks m8 for your contribution !! Really appreciate it.

@Laurentius26,
Thank's Leo, we do our best to help the new rom builders
Yeah great, visual kitchens are nice but I've learned everything by hand without a visual kitchen and I still do.
I always followed Bepe and Mamaich because they created most of the tools we are using today in our kitchen.
Offcourse there are many more people but they are my big examples.
An example to dump a rom by hand, the tools you find in most visual kitchens today:
Open a CMD window in the directory with this tools and your Ruu_signed.nbh and type te following commands:
nbhextract ruu_signed.nbh [ENTER]
nbsplit -kaiser os.nb [ENTER]
imgfsfromnb os.nb.payload imgfs.bin [ENTER]
imgfstodump imgfs.bin [ENTER]
Dump created....
Now drag the dump folder on Bepe's packagebuider and your packages are created.
There's so much to read about it, here's a old thread from Mamaich,
offcourse the tools are much more improved today thanks to these great guys.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249836
I show you this and you probably know to but it's good to know these tools if you start cooking I think.
Now I will let you guys do your job but feel free to ask if you need any help.
Cheers, leo
Hi Laurentius26,

Indeed that could be thrue but for a newbie these steps are good to know because you can do everything with pushing one button.
Essential is that you know what the kitchen (visual) is doing to my opinion.

Hi to all new Cooks.
Here I offer my osKitchen (by Ondraster) for our Polaris.
With this Kitchen you can build a ROM for the Polaris in all available Languages, and several included WM 6.5 builds.
This is whats in it:
Builds : 23088, 23518, 28008 and 28205
Kernels : 6.1 old Kernel and 6.5 Native Kernel (0 Modules in Slot 0)
Lang : All Languages from DaG Rollups included for above builds
OEM : Orig. Polaris 6.1 German (0407)
Ext : All my EXT Packs (TomSteV1 ROM) incl. Manila V2 and several Tweaks (evel Gullum Polaris erviusKitchen), mostly from MEGA
Before you start cooking, you should update the Kitchen to the actual Release.
Here
For Kitchen related support you should ask there too!
My Polaris is bricked by accident, so I can't give you any support on this because I ended cooking for it. I'm now awaiting the end of my contract to get a new device. And it will not be an other Polaris. So this thread is only for providing the download.
I've tried cooking a ROM for my device several successful times, so it works (NK too!).

Think it´s a good way....because...if more people ****....the good but old polaris have a chance to survive
not meant unkindly
great...thanks Tom Angle....
Thank you, I will test
TomAngel,
Thanks for your kitchen!
But I got a error when I try to Open your project.
Please check my attachment, it seems a .NET issue, right? which .NET version I should used?
By the way, could I use your 6.5nk in my old kitchen (EVK) ?
Just copy nk.exe and replace old one? anything else?
*** Updated ***
After replace OEMXIPKernel from your kitchen to my EVK kitchen, I can create a rom with "Real WM 6.5 AKU" enabled and get 52MB free memory (I only can get 2xMB free menory with 6.1 nk)
Thanks again!!
Thanks!

Alexander-Vogt1,
The error I got is in osKitchen not EVK, my EVK works fine too.
Sorry, I mean I got about 20~24 MB free memory when I create ROM with 6.1nk ("Real WM 6.5 AKU" disabled), but if I use 6.5nk ("Real WM 6.5 AKU" enabled), I can get 40~45MB free memory.
About LZZ compression, I think it just impact ROM size, right?
After use LZX compression, my ROM can reduce to 90MB ( from 109MB with no LZX )

@Alexander-Vogt1,
Thanks for your reply!
After I check my Cruise, I didn't have these keys.
I think it is because I cook ROM with our language (0404), so it need more RAM and flash size than WWE (0409).
@pcarvalho,
sorry, I don't know it is real or not...
But for my testing, if I enable "Real WM 6.5 AKU" with my old 6.1 nk, the ROM can't boot.
If I use 6.5 nk from TomAngel's kitchen, it can boot and get more free memory...
For now, my cruise works fine with this 6.5 nk, but maybe need more time to verify it.

well 1st test was, inconclusive!
...cooked on this kitchen with and without wm65 nk and in both "native kernel" is negative...guess im going to wait for next SYS release so i can test it again cause now ive already recmodded my SYS for old kernel...
i still think its fake cause for it to be native newer OEMs should existe and that is not the case...but only after testing it fully will i rule this as fake (unless someone already knows the answer)...
cheers

pcarvalho,
Which tool you used? EVK?
I am using EVK 1.8.2 and need remove "set OLDKERNEL=1" from kitchen_build_rom.bat when I enable Real "WM 6.5 AKU" otherwise platformrebuilder.exe will crashed.
For my testing, it can boot and works fine now. The only different than my old nk.exe is I can get more free memory...
I will try to put more modules as possible and to see it works or not...
By the way...I am using 28005 and didn't verify other version yet...

im currently checking this...but dont expect any big "profit"...some devices were even slower with native kernel...speed comes from oem's (aka oem drivers)...
I ask to Da_G about all the Native kernel for 6.5 he has... but it seems that he lost them cause nobody download them anymore...
if you have a native kernel 6.5 (GSM or/and CDMA)post it please, and keep it safe in your upload host, include the xip.bin, payload and romhdr.bin.
If anybody have any updated pkg of the 6.5 initflashfiles.dat langs please post them here too.
Thanks a lot to all developers posting their Native 6.5 Kernel

Maybe Ondraster can update his post? I was sent here from + Que PPC's [TUT]How to set the Ervius Visual Kitchen... guide to get native kernel for the Rhodium, but there are not links here. He seems to think there use to be links in Ondraster's post...
Nop he is trying to say that if you found that original roms... you need to dump them and you will get the native 6.5 kernel for each device's rom listed
No, I wanted to upload them, but I forgot about ROMHDR file so I stopped upping them and then I forgot about it. I will make new list of ROMs I have on my HDD, dump XIP and pack it and update the post . But I've been up all night (now is 10 AM) and I'm going to sleep. So after that

Great, thanks! I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate it. I'm trying to get into cooking, but have been having an extremely difficult time finding everything I need. I haven't even been able to find a decent roll-up because links are down everywhere I look.
someone has to OEMXIPKernel omnia 2 I8000 thank
Found somewhere: Blackstone-WM6.5-OEMXIPKernel
Unfortunatly I don't have any native xip kernel on my harddisk but very nice initiative.
Thanks Que.
