On the old QVGA screen i have never been able to read any PDF's (I have dozens of important manuals in PDF/A4 format) but it just was not possible..
So will this screen with a good pdf viewer allow me to read these manualls ?
I also have a lot of manualls in html helpfile format [ .chm ] is there a way to access these on a winmobile device ?
I prefer Picsel Viewer 1.2.
I know that XDA Dev. dont like naming it and it´s not easy to get but its te best app for almost every type of format.
Hi Eymen,
is Picsel Browser the same as Picsel Viewer?
As I understand Picsel Viewer was only for Palm?
If not, is there an version for WM devices?
Can you point me in the direction? Or PM me?
TIA
This is a great freeware pdf viewer: http://pocketxpdf.sourceforge.net/
and this is my favorite pdf viewer to date (not freeware) http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php foxit 1.4 beta.

Not exactly sure if I understand your question.. but,.. you can always install the Adobe PPC PDF reader from here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforppc.html
my experience has been that the adobe PDF reader is easier to read because of the reflow mode. however if you want to print PDF's the cleavue reader is the only way to go (assuming you have westtek JetCet printer software). now i haven't got my JasJar yet, so i don't know if the adobe reader works in VGA mode, or if the PDF reader is easier to use wit the VGA mode; but i've used cleavue/adobe for several years on 320x240 pocketpcs and smartphones.
using clearvue - = crap!
any offers?
try the free adobe reader
it ll read any pdf u throw at it(but takes >7mb)

Never had any problems with this one. Got it installed on SD card rather than internal memory but works just fine.

trying it out now!!!

gotta be better than clearvue - it blows

it's better, but not that great either. very bloated and crashes often. is fast though.
i personally like Ansyr Primer, which is no longer sold. a little slow in rendering, but doesn't crash as often as the adobe and less memory hungry. you can also add annotations and bookmarks. it doesn't do tagged files like the adobe reader, which is one good things going for it.
I don't know why there is so little development in producing good pdf readers.
in any case, using pdfs a lot, i keep them all, and find them useful for different types of documents.
with Primer, you have to apply a vga aware patch, from something like tweaks 2k2, if you have a vga machine. I bought my copy a while ago. if nobody is selling it, i've checked and noted other sources do have it.
PocketXPDF
http://pocketxpdf.sourceforge.net/
I find it the best one.
Renders pages in real VGA.

just for the record - the adobe ppc pdf reader sux.
it lasted 2 hours on my rig.
trying sourceforge jobbie now . . .
Try `foxit' pdf reader which has just released for ppc ,the evaluation purpose .( just reminds it and there no limit of days as i have neen using it for so many number of days) the best or the worst part is that it runs from itself , installs no files on windows folder . it is one single file(1.25 mb) transferred via active sync to the storage card then add to today screen via pocket plus and then through resco explre make it the default program to view pdf files

Use this one all the time.
Putting into full screen landscape allows half of a full page to be easily readable.
Only down side is the delay in waiting for the next page to load - hopefully this will be fixed in a later version
Matt
Hey matt.
you're only bloody right!
this is a good reader guys.
nice rendering, i think a little better than clearvue and certainly the pile of elephant turd that is the adobe reader - that was just embarrassing!

Many Many thanks
Many Many thanks
You are a life saver !
Steve
it takes bloody ages to load initially and the page load times is fairly crap but full screen and programmable h/ware buttons makes it kewl.
as i said before the rendering is pretty wicked too!
WOW!!!! Just installed PocketXPDF and it has got to be the best PPC PDF reader available. Rendering the pages does take a while but at least it is worth the wait.
Thanks for sharing that with us.
Adobe?
I tried my pdf book which has 2700 pages in my JASJAR with Adobe reader,it nicely tagged it for viewing in "reflow mode" (text wraps around to fit the screen) so that we need not scroll it horizontally even after zooming.
Wow! how nicely Adobe did it and I could read the book continously in reflow mode with zoom.I think NO Other pdf reader can do this.Even 'Repligo',I tried same book with Repligo pdf mobilizer, still no reflowing.
Adobe reader is the Best pdf reader without any doubt, but it has its own drawbacks like: Very bulky, freezes ur PPC if not used for sometime(after opening). No official compatibility for WM5 devices.
If the size of the file is small, any reader would do.But bigger files, reflow mode Adobe is jus Gr8!
Acrobat reader has been working great for me for the past two years.
it just depends on the following question:
- do you use a realVGA 'hack'?
if yes:
use acrobat reader
if no:
use pocketXPDF reader
because you really want VGA instead of qVGA. and reflow is a really big plus for acrobat imo

Yep...
It's the Best!

I believe non of the mentioned readers can do the followings completely
a) must have scrolling feature (available in Adobe Reader)
b) text and picture must be sharp (apply to all readers except Adobe)
c) small in size (definitely not for Adobe Reader)
Any?
hi, i'm looking for any pdf reader in which i'll be able to easy zoom in and zoom out. i've got adobe reade LE, and there i've got to tap in small icon. i would like to have zoom in and zoom out while i hold volume up or down, or when i do any gesture.. any ideas?
ya i have same problem....its very fatiguing....also the 800X480 resolution can strain the crap out of your eyes while reading text on pdfs.
guys..isnt there any alternative to adobe?
willing to pay
i am quite surprised that there is no finger friendly pdf viewer yet
does anybody use isilo? i heard, that this application can read pdf files... is that true? and is it finger friendly?
Try Picsel Proviewer (or browser, or viewer).
It's read (only read) more format (pdf, doc, ppt etc etc) and it is very finger friendly.
A must have.

Hi
can give me a link ive googled it but it only shows palm devices. also the piscel website doesnt have any details.
foxit reader is pretty good as well
picsel browser is what i need, but it can't understand some symbols witch i very often use, ( i mean mathematical symbol). adobe reader can show them.. it would ok if i could save my doc files into something, that picsel browser understands. how?
foxit reader is very slow... it has all I need, but it's so slow...
I moved up from my Samsung i760 which had Piscel browser for .pdf files. It viewed them very nice. Adobe Reader LE seems really out dated and slow. Any other .pdf readers that work well with the TP2 that anyone knows of?
I use FoxitReader 2, but it is not free
I use Xpdf - it's free and very functional. (Has flow, zoom, goto, bookmark, pictures, so what do you want more?)
I have some Chinese Wu Xia PDfs that play fine on my PC with Adober Reader 9 (it automatically download the fonts). When I transfered a few PDFs to the HD2 and tried to display them sing Adobe Reader Mobile LE, it just shows a bunch of blank (white) pages. No words are displayed. Can someone give me a suggestion?
My HD2 can display chinese words as I have a couple Excel spreadsheets with Chinese words in some columns that can be displayed fine in Office mobile.
I believe the problem you are facing is that Adobe does not always use fonts that come from Microsoft.
When I have updated my computer to a new operating system, I often find that Adobe cannot open a Chinese PDF without updating fonts. My Microsoft operating system could already display Chinese in Office and in web pages.
Adobe products are proprietary, and do not always make use of system resources. This is precisely why a PDF is able to be viewed in various operating systems, but it means you have to download more from Adobe to view certain languages.
It seems that the best way to solve your problem is to go to the Adobe site and look for information. If you cannot find any information, send an email to them. This Adobe PDF help file might give you some ideas.
Since you cannot see Chinese in a PDF file, it is fairly obvious that you do not have the required fonts on your HD2.
I hope that somehow this helps you.
Thanks, but not much help at this point.
I searched through the Adobe site and only found Chinese font pack for Adobe Reader 8/9. No such luck with Adobe Reader LE 2.5
Tried some PDF to Word convertion web service sites but they can't seem to convert as well.
Does ANYONE here read chinese PDF file in their HD2? Please help
Still no replies :-(
Can anyone suggest a way to download the Chinese font packs for Adobe Reader LE on the HTC devices? Thanks.
Is it possible to take the fonts from adobe 9 and then transfer them to the HD2...?? kinda like copying the fonts from windows and puting them on the hd2...
Don't use manhua2009
A few days ago i tried manhua2009 for Chinese writing om my hd2
but don't try to do the same ,, got a stuck hd2 and had to hardreset
to get it working again... !!! so don't ....
Cheers

Yes I can.
I have two reader. The Adobe Reader 2.0 for WM2003 (downloaded from Adobe site), and the Adobe Reader LE 2.5 that came with my HD2. The downloaded Adobe Reader 2.0 for WM2003 cannot display a PDF with Chinese (Big5 I presume). The bundled Adobe Reader LE 2.5 can, probably because I bought it in HK.
Also, I copied the whole resources folder from my desktop Adobe Reader 10 to the downloaded Adobe Reader 2.0 for WM2003. The error messages changed, but still it cannot display Chinese PDF.
And I can't find any resource files for the Adobe LE.

I read a lot of PDFs on my phone and found that Adobe doesn't quite do the job. I did some searching and found Foxit to be quite good. Not sure if it will help you in this case, but worth a try.
