Is it possible to create a custom manilla tab? I have been traversing the forums, but can't find any reference to whether this is actually achievable.
Specifically, I think a lot of people would find a simple custom tab that launches a 3rd part app, incredibly useful. I, myself, would dearly like to see a custom music tab that I can use to launch any other music player besides the tremendously horrid TF3D one.
There have been custom tabs added to manilla:

Hey guys, gotta question/idea here I want you genious devs to ponder on if you don't mind. Since a ton of people on here use the HTC Home plug on there phones, and with all of the new apps that you guys have given us, such as A_C's S2 programs, and TCPMP, and all of the new contact apps like iContact and things, is it possible to create new tabs for the HTC home plug to go with these?
I know that probably the first response I'm going to get is to try some other program to get the ability to launch these from my home screen, but I like the over all feel of the HTC Home plug. It's so much simpler than using multiple apps to achieve the look , and the weather app and home section are awesome.
I just think it would be pretty cool/convenient if it were possible to make the music tab bring up S2P, and the contact tab launch iContact or something, and to be able to change the profile tab to S2V or any combination of programs. Pretty much the ability to add a tab, name it yourself , and choose the program it launches. Just like the app launcher with the plug, just for the tabs.
It seems like it would be simple for one of the geni's on here (I'd have no chance at it). HHCcustomizer gives the ability to add and remove tabs, so all thats missing is the ability to change the program it launches pretty much.
I have no clue if its possible, or how hard it would be. I've just seen a ton of other programs give the ability to choose the program launched and thought it may be possible here. I know some REG Editing may do it, but myself, with probably many others would be lost here. But this was just an idea. Would anyone else be interested in this?
I apologize if this has been posted or if this is the wrong place to post app requests but I had the thought one of the cool things about TF3D is that it allows everything to be accessed from the today screen. Weather, Music, Email. Everything except the scores from your favorite sports teams.
So here is my Idea how about a Sports Tab, much like the weather tab that can be customized with up to 3 of your favorite teams and sports with a icon representing the team and the score for the current game or start time for the next game along with current standing in their respective division.
Anyone else think this would enhance our devices even further than they are now.
Here's a very poor picture to give an idea of what I'm talking about. Sorry I suck at graphics
I think someone should post a sticky on this. >.> There can't be tabs added unless you want to find the source code for manila. The only thing remotely possible was the calendar tab which was achieved by D-MAN666. I don't think this is possible. In fact, I don't think adding any other tab besides the stock tab is possible. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Well being that he was able to create the calendar tab and of course create the idiamond interface maybe its possible since the weather tab is just a collection of icons and data imported from a website(at least i believe that's how the weather tab works) then maybe that can be rewritten to include the sports icons and import sports data instead of weather and if the individual sports teams are too much then use generic sports icons. Just a thought.
ooooh would love this!
+1
+1 !
This would be my favorite tab ever. Or even if it couldnt be another tab maybe a program that does sports like the iPhone or Instink does...
Hello, I've been using WM 6.5 for a few weeks now and am really digging it! Good job to Microsoft, I think good things are in store for the future. Anyhow, there are a few things that would make 6.5 much better for me, (and perhaps many others) so I thought I would turn to the community to see if any of you talented developers can help me out. I have 2 request:
1) Tasks summary panel for Titanium. Perhaps the default pane would show the number of currently active tasks, then swiping through the pages would scroll through the tasks in an order according to the 'sort by' option in the task menu, ie priority, status, start date, due date.
2) MP3 player control from the lock screen. I think ms did a great job with the lock screen. It's wonderfully functional and if we can implement some tweaks and changes to it, that would be awesome! I imagine if this is possible, WMP may be the easiest to run in tandem, though controls for other MP3 players would be preferred, such as S2P or HTC Audio.
Whaddayasay? Is anyone else interested in this?
Thanks!
Hi,
I am quite new to the Iolite (as i had till the day before yesterday still a Prophet) and have to say that i am quite happy with it except that the new today screen (TouchFlo, Manila? TF2D?) is disappointing compared to HTC Home...
After doing some research on the net i found someone who added (at least) a calender tab to the Home Screen and now i would like to ask if there are people here who know if it is possible to add any custom tabs of which the content is programmable (quite like plugins for the old HTC Home. Say i made a C# app that is being run in the Tab and shows certain information or something similar).
From what i read this seems not doable although i am simply unsure about it as there is some custom(?) calender tab out there...
In the end this is the only thing i so far miss on the Iolite since HTC Home just gives me shell errors and there are things i really would like to have with only few keystrokes to see...
I don't know about custom tabs on manila(but it lacks on customization), but I can suggest you a freeware alternative to touchflo UI that can satisfy your needs and it's highly customizabe, especially if you know how to program, cause you can create plugins(if the available are not satisfy you) that meet your needs. If you're interesting take a look here:

Thanks! That thing looks exactly like what i was searching for!
I know this is more a developer forum, so can someone please direct me to the right place to post the following (and then lock this thread - or PM me & delete the thread):
As I get more comphy with Android, I'm looking for specific Android apps to match my most common ones I use daily on WinMo. I'm working on searches, but trying to avoid downloading many of the same types of programs to find the best fit.
With that said, I'm looking for apps on Android that match the following WinMo programs:
- Conduits Pocket Player (specifically being able to load a folder of podcasts directly w/o a library, and auto keep bookmarks where I left off. Pocket Player also has a ton of options - basically looking for a loaded Droid player. Oh, also select my location for music library & don't look in any other folder)
- Resco Photo Viewer (ditto on specifying what folder to look into, and the smoothness of having thumbnails of pix)
- Phatnotes for Outlook (haven't yet found out how to synch Notes off Outlook server)
- Yomomedia (currently using as my rss/web updated, but I don't believe that they support Android. I have no problems switching to another service that works for WinMo & Android)
- Phoneweaver (auto audio profile switching - saw a couple freebies on Droid, but have not tested. preferably one that shows current state (day/night/vibrate) on the bar at the top.
- Pocketshield (more powerful lock screen replacement where I can control what is showing and different ways to unlock)
- TCPMP (play divx movies, flash movies from youtube, etc)
Once again, apologies since I believe this to br the wrong place to post - just not sure where to post this. BTW, also in the wrong place since I have seen another thread locked for it - but would be interested in discussing *why* so many people think Droid is better then WinMo. I'm experimenting now, but more along the lines 'cause it's fun to play with something different!
Hi mate,
It might be worthwhile sticking a post in one of the Popular Android phones forums (Desire maybe?) - i'm sure the people there would be more familiar with whats available on the marketplace and better be able to help you with your needs.
Cheers
Paul
