Newbs: cooked rom or cab install? And go back?

Hi all.
I've bought an herald (P4350 in Italy) for my wife. I've registered the product to htc club and i've installed windows mobile 6 in italian.
Now i've read some thread as:

If i've understood well, the first option means overwrite the OS i've just installed with another one with (impressive) features (as touchflo, cube interface, kayser like apps) preinstalled.
The second means collect some apps and install it (maybe it's possible htc home, even touchflo but certainly not cube's interface).
Well, due to limitation of the second way (cube's interface for example), i'd like to try the modified rom (cooked?), but i've some questions:
1) First of all, is it true that i can have all the functionality of the "Touch-IT,WWE v1.1" or similar cooked rom only by flashing the rom or i can found ALL the functionality by installing some apps?
2a) If 1) is false where can i found ALL the apps for doing the same things as well as in a cooked rom?
2b) If 1) is true, can i flash with Touch-IT rom my italian device with italian WM6 installed?
2bI) If 2b) is true, after trying Touch-IT rom can i reinstall my WM6 italian rom by double-clicking on the file downloaded from htc club? If not is a way to rollback to the original rom?
2bII) If 2b) is false (but also if it's true because i prefer the OS in my language ), PLEASE Itje make a Touch-IT,IT where the second IT meas ITALY

1. While you can have the apps, touch-it is built on a newer, more streamlined version of windows mobile 6.
2a. see 2b
2b. You can flash the WWE. I believe there was some effort to get a native language port, ask itje about that.
2bI. Yes. I believe the HTC club one is an RUU, a "Rom Update Utility". If you mess up in the flashing, you can use it restore from bootloader also
2bII. Again, ask itje.
wow that was confusing. Outlines are like hell on a apple.

i believe there are like flash-based emulations of the cube. Look in the main software development forum.

Need defaul WM 6.5 for TOuch HD

I looked around roms page and i was very confused. I want to update windows to 6.5 on my HTC TOUCH HD. Can you provide a link where i can find step by step how can i update my windows? Also i want the defaul windows 6.5 with no additional applications or modifications. Thank you!

wm6.5 has not been released for the HD and never will. Only way to get it is by flashing a cooked rom with wm6.5 on it. Step-by-step guide can be found here.

Theme is fantastic - its true , but it takes a lot of time to translate
Especially if you need to hard reset - everything is lost then.
If any one could post english .cab for this theme please ?

I have installed wad 2.5, message2reg and mortscript 4.2 cab but than after I want to install your cab it says that installation was unsuccessful!!
I have tried than soft reset and installing again your cab again, but same error!

I had the same problem on the start ( check post 2 ).
It seems that its need wm6.5.
(Please correct me if wrong).
I have tried many roms with this (about 6) and only those with wm6.5 worked fine.

I am using wm6.5 benko's(mine ROM!!
Which version you use v1.0 , 1.5 Ultra Lite, Clean?
BTW any other skin I have tested is working!

I was using your 6.5.3 rom in full version ( i don't remember version).

Sorry but the problem comes from your rom, the .cab files works correctly.
Makes hard reset or change your Rom, my theme work on WM6.1 and WM6.5 without any problem:
My tests : Touch HD, Touch HD2, Diamond 2 and Diamond = work correctly

How it is going on with translating ?

Followed instructions perfectly, theme installed no problem, edited the text to english perfectly.
Great theme, enjoyed playing with it thanks!, but not practical for everyday use so back to WM6.5 for me

Help with themes installation on HTc Touch pro2

Hi.. i am a new HTC touch pro2 user.. i have been following this forum for sometime now. i have tried to install new themes on my touch pro2 but never could ... i am facing a few problems whose solution i am not able to find out..
* whenever i install some theme my touch flo 3d stops working n it keeps on restarting....
* i have read about the Manila 2.5 and everything ( am a nooob ATM ) but i dont know how to use it and how does it help my mobile phone.
* my ROM version... 1.19.415.1 (51489) WWE ( wtever it means) ...... how can i update it without converting this beauty into a brick....
i ll be very thankful to you guys for helping me out coz i have tried reading every article but at times goes way over my head

Well according to our handy-dandy ROM matrix in the wiki, it appears that you have the "ARA" (arabic..? I dunno ) stock ROM, with WM6.1. This most likely also means that you don't have Sense, and instead have TF3D 2.1. Most of the themes you find here are for some version of Sense (2.1, 2.5), and will cause issues when applied to TF3D.
You can:
-Just look for TF3D 2.1-compatible themes and visual elements...they exist, search the whole site and not just the Rhodium forums.
-Upgrade your ROM to one that has some version of Sense (aka Manila) on it, and you open up your options for the visual tweaks you can find and use.
Also, even when you find themes, etc, that will work with what you have on your phone, you need to make sure you turn off TF3D (and Sense, when you get it) before installing any of them, to make sure there's no issues with files not overwriting properly.

thanx a lot sirphunkee.... i thot manila is kind of an updated version of tf3d.... :O should i first install windows 6.5 or flash a new ROM..... i am not so much of a tech freak... and not on the phone 24 7... i just need some cool games and good themes....... ( not to forget sme decent softwares)... could you please suggest which ROM should i go for....

[Q] How to upgrade from WM 6.1 to WM 6.5.3

Hi All,
Can someone help me upgrade my HTC Touch Viva (Opal T2223) from Windows Mobile 6.1 to Windows Mobile 6.5.3?
I've no knowledge of flashing however I am reading articles given in this forms: Click Here and will definitely be able to do it.
I am just tired of Windows 6.1 as it is very slow and hanging many times and consume too much battery.

first of all you must hard -spl your device
here is complete instruction:

then download one of Roms you want
and use CustomRUU ( if rom package only include .nbh file ) or run ROMUpdateUtility.exe ( in the rom package ) to install that
device must be connected to pc in sync mode

It's done, thanks a ton brother.
However the phone has a very slow startup now. Hope this would be resolved after a few boots...
