I had a 3 month old Modaco rom and I moved to the newest Damagecontrol
I went from 121 mb available to 63.72mb
Is this normal??
And yes my Apps2sd is working.. I swore that it wasn't myself.

You still have plenty of room. It will not slow down the phone. And dalvik cache might not be on your sdcard. I bet if you download an app, it will decrease the mb. The cache is still on the phone, but the app is on the sdcard.

Not to mention market listed all my previously downloaded apps until i installed a few and went to the home screen and back and then it cleared the list for me.. Thanks!!
[edit]
I just went into DConfig and it said something about a config file not being set up would i like to set one up now and reboot...
Deleting all apps i can from the market menu and then doing that and trying
I am using Fresh 2.0d.
This is supposed to have apps2sd working for it.
It seemed to work for a while.. then my internal memory started going down after installing apps.
Installed apps2sd 2.5 from darktremor and BAM.. 120 megs internal phone.
Kick me while im down why don't you!!! LOL jk.. I'll have to look into that if I have trouble still..
Does anyone have any recommendations for setting Dconfig..
I'm not exactly sure what dalvik is not Enaling JIT.. or the dalvik heap or lowmemkiller or swapping and the swappyness...
:-(
It would help if you made sense of your posts, cloned2.
Why the sprint hero memory is so low.
check that video it helped me understand why our memory is sooo low after the 2.1 leak.
and this is my useless post of the month. made me laugh. especially since we got the leak when this song came out.
Flash the newest a2sd update.zip and update your dconfig make sure a2sd is running and download some apps to check

Thanks for the humor, I needed something to remind me to not take all of this too seriously.
I just got a Nexus One and under SD Card and Phone Storage it shows that I only have 194 MB free. Is that right? I thought it came with 512 MB free?
I looked online and couldn't find anything so I thought I would ask the Pros.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like their gonna unlock the other half of the 512mb of storage with the Froyo update
You for real?? So, they all come with 512MB, but you can only use 194 MB at the moment?

Yeah =P
Dunno why but just like on the Motorola Droid how they have an 800mghz processor and they clock it down to 550mghz (probably to make sure the first batch don't fry and then unlock the full features later)
The current kernel can't support more than that, with FroYo and the new kernel you'll be able to utilize all of it.
If you want to take advantage of all of it now, unlock, root, and flash a rom with the highmem kernel (damn near all of them).
I think you guys are confused. It sounds like he is talking about the phones internal storage, not RAM. The place where everything is installed.
192MB is quite a bit of space for downloading new apps since most are only a few megs at most. The reason you don't have all 512 available is because Android and the default apps are taking up space as well.
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the internal storage. The OS itself and the other built in apps take space so that's the reason you only have that amount.
Is this something new for phones? It's pretty ridiculous, and kind of makes me wish I had waited for the 32gb version if I had known such a simple feature would be gone :l

Hi,
It's a 4.2.2 "Feature"
It's for the greater good. New generation NAND smokes microSD performance, and you don't wanna bottleneck your device by multitasking from SD. On the other hand 16GB should be dropped entirely, we're talking very minimal cost difference for Samsung, so why not start at 32gigs or 64 and go all the way up to 256? This is HD era, nothing comes in small size.

Hi,
Also the "16GB" is actually only 9.15GB on my phone.
The system eats a fair portion of it.
Before 4.2.2 could you move to sd without rooting then? And will it really kill memory card If i rooted and use folder mount

So what to do now? :-/ I bought the "16" GB phone being a former Apple user with they expectation of "hey cool, I got an 32 SD card lying around, no problem", when now I end up in a situation where I am expected to do exactly what?? Uninstall all my apps and never download any music?
Still taking any and all suggestions...

That's the reason I'm waiting for the 32GB version.
I did the same with the Galaxy S III though I can't understand why they delay the release of the 32GB that much.. I'm pretty sure a lot of people are waiting for that one, right?
And btw, you can put your music on the µSD card, it's just the installed apps that are a problem.
Thanks, yeah you are right. Not sure though if some apps will be smart enough to route downloaded music to my SD card??
While we're at it: My problem is basically the "cloudsync" and more so the "DocumentSync" folder, the latter is > 6 GB large! Anyone knows what that is?
I want to reduce this size, my phone is brand-new!

Cloudsync syncs your pics etc with Dropbox or its samsung account
Swyped from another galaxy
Thanks, indeed. I deactivated all that cloud-syncing nonsense, which solved my problem for now. Now I have a few weeks or months until I have to think again what to do. :-/
Is "Swyped from another galaxy" that a joke on the Samsung Galaxy keyboard system? lol
You're probably looking at 24gb on the 32gb version so a bunch more memory.
Most people will in fact be fine with 9gb though, power users who download a lot of really inefficient apps that cache a lot of things and require a lot of storage should get the 32gb version. I personally will be fine with the 16gb version.
You may be right. I got 2.1 GB of apps for 151 apps, which averages out at 14 MB per app, while I had the feeling that most of my apps are less than 8 MB, oh well. -.-
I won't download any more apps though, but I am sure photographs and stuff will quickly snatch up the remaining 5 GB of space that I freed now...
Will try to find a setting to put my photos on the SD card by default. Any tips (or links to a thread / tutorial about that) are appreciated.

Yeah i am also waiting for the 32GB version because of the same reason.
my htc one s 16gb has 2gb dedicated to apps. for me plenty atm. that's independent of the 9.93 internal sdcard, don't know if s4 is same. however, as mentioned, 16gb phones are too small now days and i won't pay for the s4 till it gets 32gb on att and black--
also don't think i can post links to other forums per xda. but if you google "att 32gb s4", there is a link to an att forum specifically for the 32gb release and an active att moderator--just fyi

Really? cant u save on the sd card by defalut ????
First of all.. If u want to store ur camera photos on sd card use camera zoom fx.. It's a very good camera app and there u can choose where to store the photos
The second.. U have 8,8 gb on stock firmware if u install a custom rom in a few weeks it will be more free space because of some bloatware installed on the stock and files we dont need i think.. Let the dev's do there great job

For photos there's a setting in the camera app which let's you select which storage to use. If it's not there use a file explorer to copy your photos across to your sd card.

For those of you that have the 16GB AND have ROOTED stock, how much more space did you regain by "debloating" the phone and uninstalling all the 3rd party unnecessary apps?
Not that I'm out of space, but after I installed everything I needed, I'm down to 7.15GB (from 9 GB).

If you're on AT&T I would strongly recommend just freezing them. Until we have a recovery, finding out you debloated something you need will mean doing a factory reset (if you're lucky).
Debloating does not give you any space
All system apps are in the system partition...so whether the apps are installed or not the system partition doesn't change and remains unusable
You will have to wait for a dev to change the partition size

Dude, you could get a 64GB sdcard and throw it in your s4 16gig for less than the $85 AND not have to go through the hassle of exchange...That is 80 GB obvious not all usable, but still that's a lot on a phone....

Oh I do have the 64GB SDcard. According to this post, App2SD isn't officially supported in JB: [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40740150&postcount=6 ]. I know there are some apps that let you do it after you root (such as FolderMount & TiBackup). But if it's going away per Google design, I would just rather not relying on App2SD.
I was just curious.

Cool. I get where you are coming from. I just picked up the 16GB version today. Seems like 16 GB should be enough for all the apps etc, then I'm just going to put all of my Media on my SD card.
That being said, I think I am going to take the plunge and root it today and try flashing the custom recovery. (fingers crossed)

Yeah. I'm not the kind of phone user who has apps that uses gigs and gigs of data (AKA games). However one of the things I really liked about Android was the App2SD option, as there are some apps that I rarely use (but still use) that I'd rather put on SD. I never really cared how fast they loaded as long as I had them installed.
I'm still going to root but I wanted to ask around. Still, 16GB was much larger than on my previous phone (which had 1 Gig free) but wouldn't install anything after you got down to 200MB free.
I'm very happy with this phone.

I hope you have a Canadian model because if you try flashing on an AT&T model with a locked bootloader you will have a nice brick. Or it wont let you flash. Either way, I hope you have a canadian model or one with an unlocked bootloader.

Kitkat here in the UK at last.
No problems installing.
So far so good, have not noticed much difference yet, but yes it does seem a little smoother.

Just updated after a tediously slow download.
Now up and running 4.4.2 without any problems. Now to give it a day or so and see how it goes I suppose
I'm getting silky smooth operation so far. About time, I paid enough for this unit so the least they can do is iron out the problems!
Ah well, better late than never as the saying goes.!
Yup, installed it now and performance and navigation is dam fast. Not sure about the battery which many have highlighted as an issue so will keep my eyes peeled on his this one for now.

So I'm going to install this update tomorrow hopefully. Can anyone let me know if they have encountered any issues with YouTube app, I'm positive some people had issies when they installed kitkat not sure what region it was tbh.
Also have yous encountered any other issues at all yet, big or small?
I'm ever so cautious since I got stung pretty badly with the S3 update many months ago which they had to stop thanks to it being a disgrace of an update.
Thanks in advance.

Some developers have written their apps now with SD card access. It is laziness by some that they have not yet.
