Extra piece....jk, I have no idea lol.

Don't know what it's called but it goes on a square bumped out piece of metal near the antenna plug and vibrate thing on the top of the mainboard.

Same thing happen to me..

Looked like it's some sort of a "Mic Rubber Cap" which would help the device to easily acquire the noise that has been transmitted to the mic. Have you noticed that small hole on the bottom of your phone right beside the USB rubber cap? That's where it should be located parallel to the motherboard. I suggest you dismanlte and put it back again...
Btw, are there any differences on the mic while that rubber is out? perhaps you should try calling someone to test it...

Rubber Keyboard Bump Stops

Not sure whether this should be asked in accessories or not, but has anybody found a solution to the inadequate height of the rubber bump-stops on the O2 Exec? Their height isn't quite high enough to prevent the keys touching the screen's part of the clamshell so you end up with the keys getting rubbed smooth, and marks on the case where they touch.
At the moment, I've got a couple of bits of sticky rubber foot on preventing the touch, but they are moving around on the adhesive since there's so little of it.
What we could really do with is somebody with manufacturing facilities to create replacement bump-stops that are taller than the original ones, unless anybody else has a solution?
Cheers,
Steve.
Nobody got a solution to this?
Cheers,
Steve.
Haven't noticed the problem until you mentioned it but that's because I've been keeping my unit in a leather case -- which actually prevents it from closing comppletely (I'm using the piel frama case with the new clear plastic cover)
Not sure how I would cope with a case - how do you rotate the screen or put it into a Brodit holder without having to take it on and off all the time?
Cheers,
Steve.
You can rotate the screen by opening the flip cover of the case (ie: PielFrama; XAX case sold by expansys; and many others) Not too sure about your Brodit holder w/ a case though.
Surely there must be a good solution to this? I'd pay good money(well, some) for a set of bump stops that were tall enough to stop the keyboard touching. A bit of a design flaw, I guess...
Cheers,
Steve
what I do is, I sandwich a small cleaning cloth in between....this way, I have the cloth at all times to wipe the display when needed....and also protects the screen and the surroundings from touching the keypad! I use the cloth that came along with my screen protector....
have a great new year!

Hi
Has anyone got any ideas about where I can get replacement rubber bump stops (normal or extended height) for my Exec? One of mine has fallen off and got lost. I have tried contacting O2, but short of sending the device back for repair, which I don't want to do, they cannot help.
Thanks for any info.
Mark
I have same problem with my QTEK 9000. I have shiny dots obeside my Universal's screen which corresponds to where the keys are located on the keayboard. I believe this is a manufacturing defect, right?
Anybody was able to return their device because of these spots? I've had my device for 1 month and they're starting to irritate me.

Maybe I'll screw a belt clip to my brodit car mount. A simple unclip from my belt and then clip it onto the car mount. It'd need some sides on the mount to keep it from rotating due to gravity but I could see this working. Anyone have contacts with Brodit and a good case maker?

I think I would rather find somebody who can manufacture taller rubber stops to replace the existing ones...

Rubber Keyboard Bump Stops - possible solution
I've had a bit of a play with my Exec - my friend has lost one of his rubber bump-stops, so I prized one of mine out with a jewellers screw driver to find that they are just pushed in, and so it would be relatively easy to lose them, I think.
Using the same thin screwdriver, I applied super-glue to the recess into which the rubber stop sits, and then pushed the stop back in, but not all the way. Now I have a pair of stops that sit about 1-2mm proud of where they were originally, and they are glued in to prevent loss.
I'll try and remember to post back in a week or two to let you know how I get on with them.
Cheers,
Steve.
I sure hope that there isn't a seam down there where the rubber feet were! I'd hate to hear of a PCB glued to the underside of the keyboard cover.
You can see that there are internal components below the recess, but that's why I applied the superglue with the screwdriver around the inner edge of the recess, as opposed to just squirting it into the hole.
As long as you don't flood the hole with glue, none of it will drop through to the components beneath.
Cheers,
Steve.

Hinges...

Hi Guys...
Just both another 2nd hand dopod... the hinges are little bit loose on the right side. Check another one ...same side loose.
How long before this hinges get loose ? It is bothering you ?
Can I order the hinges and change it mayself ?
Thanks
get a tiny screw driver and unscrew the single black screw you see on the KB base when you 1/2 swivel the screen. from there the screen will come off. CAREFULLY bend the metal plate (like a potatochip) that secures the screeen the the KB base. this onyl works in your base plate is slightly bent if the swivel mechanism itself is loose, then don't do this. when i dropped mine this did the trick like nothing else.

Ummm, I believe he's referring to the long flexible cable on the left side, indicated with the green arrows.
yup! I found it easier to disconnect the red marked connector, than puzzling on the green one.
Do you also have the audio problem???
i'm trying replacing front cover.....
can u explain me how to unclip that connector?
have i to raise it? or pull to the right?
help help
dood im trying ot figure something out similar to this. i followed that guide to replace my housing, which i think is what ur trying to do. u do have to move the black lock on the left side, lower part, and remove the ribbon connector. i did that, well i pulled the black lock OFF, it says in the tutorial to like flip it up, but i didnt see how that was possible. anyways after i took it off, i cant put teh damn thing back on? its like i have to slide it into all those mini gold pins. i think when i was trying to put the ribbon connector back in i bent a few, so when when i try to turn my fone on, i get a buncha random colors.AHH someone help??
i ve changed and replaced all
so, when u have to remove lcd, is better remove pad connector, the red circled one
don't touch lcd connector!!!
then to remove lcd we have to force a clip on the right.
on the left there is a removable clip, that fixs lcd to cover...
u can try to remove this one first, raising it
but be carefull....!!!

[Q] SOLVED small rubber part left over after disassembly. Where does it come from?

I have to replace my broken touch screen. I found two good links on how to do so here and here.
Everything works fine. However, I have one small rubber part with a hole left. See attached photograph. I don't know where it comes from. Does anyone recognise? It could fit on the light sensor, but both links above do not show it.
Any clues?
I am not sure. First thing I thought about was the rubber on the microphone hole at the bottom of the telephone. When I scratch with my nail over the microphone hole, I feel that there is soft rubber inside the hole. Hope this helps .

no, it doesn't. that part is smaller and still there. thx anyway. I will leave it out and hope it won't effect the behaviour of the phone.
Solved!
Solved it using an Aria thread:

it is the cover for the proximity sensor.

LG Wireless Charging Pad - Disable Beep

I purchased the wireless charging cover for my Droid 4, and two LG wireless charging pads for work/home. I can't stand the beep it makes when it begins charging.
I opened up one of the pads, hoping there was an obvious speaker with some wire leads I could cut, but it's not obvious to me what makes the beep. I've attached a picture of the board if anyone has any input. I'll update this if I figure something out.
Here's a guy that pulled a speaker off the PCB with pliers, but didn't describe which component.
The speaker is actually the large box at bottom-right. I ran a knife around the edges and pulled at it with some pliers, and the top of it came off like a cover, with some piece inside. The beep is no longer emitted without this piece.
at first i couldnt figure out how to remove the back but found the screws under the four rubber nubs.
I followed the directions on the amazon link posted and pulled the entire black box off from the circuit board!
I put the thing back together and it now charges silently. I really dont see how this thing ever left the design room after the prototype was made with that terrible beep sounds
Component PZ1 (Bottom Right on that picture) is the buzzer. The other black thing with glue around it (Reference L1 on the silkscreen) is an inductor, which is very likely to be part of the charging circuit or voltage regulation circuit, removing it would end in tears, as was the case with one of the guys on that Amazon page.
Also, I strongly recommend against yanking parts off PCBs with pliers. Depending on how strongly it's held on you could crack the circuit board or damage neighboring components. You really want to clean away that adhesive, being careful not to cut the PCB, and then use proper desoldering equipment (soldering iron and solder wick, hot air gun, etc.) to remove the speaker.
What's the best way to get the back cover off? I can't seem to rip the rubber nubs out.
Ok I got the back cover off, but I'm having a hard time taking off the screws that hold the circuit board to the back.

I have a hard time with mine as well

Ok, I finally got sick of hearing that annoying beep. So I searched it and found this post. Did the deed and fixed it. Thanks for all the help.
Now, I would also like to find the notification sound that comes on when I place my phone on the pad.
If I turn my phone sound "off" it doesn't make the sound (obviously). But I have gone through all the settings to try to find where I can switch it off permanently.
Unfortunately I can't find it. I thought it would have been under Settings/accessory/Dock Sound but that was not it. Does anyone know how to turn off this notification???
