[APP][src] gScream - for the kids out there - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Bored?
Launch the app, select an mp3 (SCREAM.mp3 included), set the timeout and sensitivity and press start.
After the timeout the app checks the g-sensor if the values have changed more then set in sensitivity. If yes: SCREAM...
What I was not able to achieve was to keep it running and work when the display is turned off . . . anyone wanting to help?

Imagine startled children dropping your phone
Surur

You can't check for the sensivity while the phone is in standby mode, cause in that mode, your application is also put in standy mode and its thread "paused".
You can however prevent the phone from going in that mode, but that would drain the battery like hell.

erm... i have the files now on my phone but can't delete them... it doesn't work for me...

bump. nice app.

This could give some good laughs...going to try it out!

thats funny
can you make it remember previous settings? i think i'll test it on my bro

It gives me an error on my HTC Diamond... a windows mobile error... the one with send, don't send

10 things I hate about my HD2

Hi,
My first post - sorry about the agressive title, but I really am a little frustrated with my new HD2 which I have had for about 3 weeks now. Some of the things may be due to my ignorance and others are to me clearly errors:
1) Alarm clock does not always work. I set the alarm and set the phone to silent (I use that every day). The alarm goes of, but only displays a message on the screen and no sound (which reallly does not wake me up). I tried experimenting and turning up the ringer volume and setting a new alarm. The result is that the phone uses my e-mail sound for the alarm! If I turn the phone on/off everything works fine again for a while. I have set the flag is the settings specifying that alarm should sound even i silent mode.
2) Data connectivity drop outs/malfunction. I can have all signal bars on a 3G signal and the browser gives me "Not able to display page". I've tried Opera and IE and I've also tried closing all tasks, nothing helps. If I turn the phone on/off everything works fine again for a while.
3) Not able to delete multiple mails at once. On my iPhone I can click Edit, mark the mails I want to delete and then click delete. I get a lot of spam/commercials that I delete without reading, so its a nice feature for me.
4) Keyboard is just way to sensitive - I make so many typos on the HD2 keyboard and the arrow keys are next the space key, so many times I also end up pressing those
5) Speakerphone - the volume can wake up dead people and it is not possible to turn it down (enough)
6) Dropped network connections/no access - The phone seems to switch constantly between E/H/3G connections and sometimes inbetween I just don't have network access at all, e.g. I can't make/receive calls.
7) Video recording. If there is just a little movement in the scene - I get seasick from watching the recording
8) Freeze during incoming call. The phone just freezes and the Start menu changes to: "We're sorry..." - Soft reset required...sigh!
9) Mails deleted on the phone (OUtlook/Exchange account) is kept on the server and visa versa. On my iPhone, deleting a mail on the phone or in Outlook instantly (with the next send/receive) removes it from the phone/pc. On my HD2 that does not seem to happen
10) Charging via USB/PC - I use that a lot, also on pc's that do not have ActiveSync installed. On the iPhone you can do that and when you plug it in it brings up a dialog asking what you want to do - ONCE. On the HD2 I get a messsage saying "New hardware is detected" every single time I unlock the phone e.g. to read a new message, mail etc. That is so annoying.
I'm on 1.48 and applied all three released hotfixes (Camera, SMS and SD card). I've only installed Tomtom and Navigon (trial) and nothing else.
Any help is appreciated as I'm stuck with this phone for the next 6 months.
Thanks,
Jacob

Throw it away, better yet send it to me!
I mentioned that in another thread, but I think it fits better here :
What I hate about the HD2:
1- Screen bugs. You must rely on your luck to get a good working screen
2- Voicecall quality: for some people it's acceptable but for too many others, the quality is one of the worst you can get for a 1000$ phone. Noise, crackle, distortion etc..
3- SMS loading time is miserable. HTC still is not aware of the problem or they are ignoring us because they know that their software code is buggy and needs recoding
4- Some if not most HTC devices have some hardware flaw like screen not evenly aligned with the frame that puts some question marks whether if it's going to put us into trouble in the future or not ie: top notch ( can leak water, dust, backlight, whatsoever ) or something like that http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4&postcount=94
5- Mediocre back speaker performance. And when it rings, it really feels like a cheap phone.
6- loose keypad. That's not really a problem but sometimes it's annoying, it also feels cheap in hand although the build quality is almost excellent.
7- Poor battery life, I mean really poor. If I forget to charge it at night, forget about calling me the next day.
8- Very sharp lens frame. That's not a big deal if you keep your device in its case but if not, beware, this thing can scratch anything it touches.
That's for me, you must also note that what I wrote is subjective and based on a comparison with my old XDA and HTC devices.
Hope that clears up things.
Hi WB,
Yep - I've read most of the posts (that looked relevant) on the Leo forums for the last month or so. I'm also aware that I can e.g. install a different alarm clock, connect to the standard button/place on the screen (described on Pocketnow), I also know there is a sensitivity tweak, I can install alternative keyboards and so on, but come on should that really be necessary on a state-of-the-art phone like the HD2?
Best regards,
Jacob
yeah, I got f-****ed by the alarm clock twice .
blame myself for not testing out.
Funny, that I do not seem to have your problems in the even no. of your points 2,4,6,8,10
A question of each piece of HD2?

I gotta feeling you have totally different device man Seems this is really a question of each piece of device... E.g. I've no bugs with screen, keyboard, calls, alarm clock... Also after the official fixes and some additional patches (DAMIEN's camera fixes) the photos and video in mpeg4 is awesome (you can check out my photos on forum).
sorry for stating the obvious but maybe you actually still want an iphone. sell Leo and get an iphone 3GS mate as you clearly still stuck on iphone.I have many annoying things on mine but i am sure that customs roms will fix all these issues when we can flash them. its the same with most new devices mate, they are just not perfect and patience is needed. the raw power under the hood of this thing has not been tamed yet dude so hold tight. it took the HTC Rhodium to finally get a good blend of touchflo 3D and winmo. it will get better dude
OK, so let's try to help a bit, shall we?

Yes, that is a problem that Windows Mobile has had from the beginning. I've got no idea why they don't get that fixed, but whatever...
...there are good replacemet alarm programs, like G-Alarm and others, that are much better that the built in alarm. Try one of those.
2) Data connectivity drop outs/malfunction. I can have all signal bars on a 3G signal and the browser gives me "Not able to display page". I've tried Opera and IE and I've also tried closing all tasks, nothing helps. If I turn the phone on/off everything works fine again for a while.

Sorry, I can't help with this. Maybe it's a problem of the phone's radio firmware that doesn't work well with your carrier's network.
Watch out for radio ROM upgrades!

8) Freeze during incoming call. The phone just freezes and the Start menu changes to: "We're sorry..." - Soft reset required...sigh!/QUOTE]
Disable Windows Error Reporting with BSB Config.
Error Reporting is responsible for several problems, including music player crashes and others.
9) Mails deleted on the phone (OUtlook/Exchange account) is kept on the server and visa versa. On my iPhone, deleting a mail on the phone or in Outlook instantly (with the next send/receive) removes it from the phone/pc. On my HD2 that does not seem to happen

Every change I make on my phone Outlook gets immediately synchronized with my Exchange account and vise vers, so maybe you just have not enabled push.

True. But I prefer the standard WM SMS interface anyways, so what? I think HTC should not have made a replacement in the first place, now they only have problems with it...

Hardware flaws? Not at all, the HD2 is probably the highest quality phone ever created. Of course that does not eliminate the possibility of production faults, but saying that 'most' devices have flaws is ridiculous.

Well, actually, according to professional tests, it's one on the better speakers among phones. Not the best, but better than e.g. the iPhone and lots of others.

True.
Okay, now to my own list (which is a bit shorter):
1) Storage. Most people who buy the phone probably don't have a clue about hov to free up the internal memory, how to delete Youtube caches, the Copilot executable files etc. That is a huge issue, because those same people also have no clue about how to get applications from outside the Marketplace, which doesn't allow installations to the storage card. This is a huge issue for non-powerusers, and given the popularity of the phone, there's probably lots of users running into it.
2) The music player: There is no search bar or (alphabetic) scrollbar.
3) UI flaws: Swiping through TouchFlo Tabs should be fluid, like swiping through pages on the iPhone's Springboard. Scrolling in TouchFlo is not optimized, can be made a bit better via registry (speed, friction), but still laggy sometimes. Pinching in Opera is much too slow, that's much better in Safari. RSS Hub lags a lot.
4) The messaging applications. I've not had any problems so far and I've turned it off in favor of the default one anyways, but HTC should not have created it at all. The default one was okay and similar to the Email one as part of Outlook, there was nothing wrong.
5) The radio firmware - buggy as hell, that's all I have to say about it.
6) The camera flash brightness and/or exposure should adjust according to the distance of the target, which is determined by the auto focus, to prevent overexposure.
Other than that: Great phone
No phone is perfect these days, unfortunately, but this one, I think, comes closest.

I agree with you. However windows mobile devices are not as "simple" as the Iphone that I believe you have just come from. I know I risk opening up world war 3 by merely mentioning iphone in this post so let's move on quickly.
Regretably, as an early adopter, you will have to invest some considerable time tweaking the device to get it to what you thought you had bought. Most seasoned winmobile owners are used to this, hence the existence of XDA-Developers.
Once innovations like SPL/Hard SPL are with us then you will, if you wish, get the opportunity to change your roms at will and customise your device ad-nauseum. If this is not the journey you wish to take then you will have to reconsider your purchase and go for something else.
I'm definitely not being arsey, just being a realist.
Hope you make the right decision for you.
Cheers

@Seed_al: This is really good stuff - thank you very much for taking the time to answer my post. I will give BSB Config a try and also G-Alarm (I really depend on the alarm to wake me up )
The tip for selecting multiple messages is also great. Another n00b question - how do you enable push for an Outlook account?
Thanks,
Jacob

In fairness, he's getting (mostly) constructive responses, so if he gets answers to problems then isn't that what this whole forum is about?
I do actually agree that there are too many "slagging off" threads, but as long as something good comes from it then it's worthwhile. If someone reads it and fixes issues they have with their phone, then who cares about the people that simply agree and flog their phone. That's 1 less person whining on the forums! lol

Excellent answer and you are right - the unmentionable (is that a word) puts much harder restrictions on what can be done and by whom.
You are also spot on with the earlier adopter - I'm always doing that, not only with phones Maybe I should just see this as a new opportunity to explore the WM world I just need to sort out the most basic issues, like alarm, keyboard, mail etc. I got a 6-month contract with the phone, so I definately keeping it and I really like the hardware side of it...

Well, with a bit of luck, you'll get to see a lot more within those six months... maybe we HD2 owners will be among the first to be able to try out Windows Mobile 7
But yes, I fully agree with wacky.banana. There is a relatively high learning curve with Windows Mobile and it can't be denied that there are/were issues with the first devices/software versions that we early adopters have/had to deal with.
On the other hand, we get some great advantages over the unmentionable phone, but of course also disadvantages - there is just no perfect phone - but I personally love the HD2, think it has a lot more advantages than problems. In the end, there probably will never be a perfect phone, and it will always be a personal decision.

Disagree. He has the right to say what he wants. Besides he is asking for help, not whinging.
The whole thread was constructive before you jumped in. Please don't act in such a way as to get this thread closed. The OP has the right to say what he is saying whether you agree with him or not.
That's democracy and is what free speech is all about.

In fairness mate, you should have just not commented if you felt like that. You can't promote the free speech of the OP whilst telling someone not to post what they think. It's gone already, and not many people took any notice. It's no biggie, so don't make it one
Edit:
I just re-read that post and want to make it clear that I wasn't trying to tell you what to do. I just want to keep the forums as friendly as possible, so offered an opinion.
@onkeldunkel
Tap the notifications bar to bring up the notifications screen, then tap the network icon to open the comm manager. There, make sure 'Microsoft Direct Push' is activated.
If yes, then go to Start --> Connectivity --> ActiveSync (or wherever ActiveSync is in your Start Menu). There, tap on Menu --> Schedule.
This is where you can configure the Schedule for syncing with your Exchange server.
If this is set to 'as items arrive', then every change on your phone should immediately be synchronized with the server.
Let me know if it works.
@those people arguing above
I also hate all those 'I hate/sold my phone' threads, but this one here is not of that kind!
This one is not a troll thread for whining/complaining, it's a constructive thread asking for help, so please stop the fighting and don't destroy it.

What version is this rom?
It installed great on my phone, and it's already a nice update from 6.1.
The one problem I have is that in the Profiles, the System Volume option doesn't seem to do a thing -- Even if I lower it to nothing, I still get sound. However, the Ring Volume actually affects both the Ringer AND the System Volume. This means that either my system volume is too loud and my ringer is fine, or my ringer is too soft and my system volume is fine! Is there any way to fix this?
Haven't Seen The Volume Problem
It installed fine on my wife's phone. Just as fugly as 6.1 (though orange splash screen instead of green) but at least it seems a bit snappier and has a couple more programs baked in. It'll get much better when officially released and visual voicemail can be enabled ... wife is waiting for that. (I use Google Voice so it's not a big addition for me.)
I haven't noticed the volume issue that pedrovay2003 mentions. I'll see if I can recreate the problem.
I'm happier with the look of Ookba's 3vo ROM though ...

If you want to test it, try playing a song through Media Player, and then as it's playing, raise the volume of the Ring option in the Profiles. Also, it's pretty easy to tell if you mess with the volume levels and try to delete a folder or file -- The little bleep notification sound it makes will obviously be way louder the higher the number.
Remember, this is the Ring volume -- I haven't been able to make the System volume make a difference at all so far. Other than that, though, the update is excellent -- Thanks for the upload, by the way, Bupahs.
You know what? The wi-fi's giving me issues now, too -- It'll keep jumping rapidly between on and off, and I've had to restart my phone to get it to stay on. That's enough to want to downgrade back to 6.1, but I have now idea how to.

Is there any way to fix this?

try this : go to Start -> Settings -> Profiles and try changing the volume and save it from there. tell me if that works.

When I do this, and check my profiles, they show as having all desired settings, but the new HTC Volume control overides the profile settings. As soon as you touch the volume control, the profile settings (within each profile) are pretty much ignored. A huge HTC co*k up.....

Thanks for posting Bupahs, but when I download from MediaFire and try to extract the RAR, it stops a 1/4 of the way through and gives me this error:

Nope, that doesn't seem to have done anything, either. I went into the Normal profile and actually set the System volume to Off, and there was still sound coming out of everywhere. The Ring volume is still controlling the System volume as well as the ring volume itself.
As for your tip with the W-LAN settings, I'll give it a shot and see if it works. I also disabled the auto shut-off in the same menu you listed, and I think that had something to do with it.

I had a full charge when i flashed over. I got 2 days with out a charge. I am run active sync a lot during business hours and talk on the phone about 1 to 2 hours a day. I get the same or a little more life than on 6.1.
I installed 6.5 on my Ozone and all is well except for one thing: I use the Microsoft Tag Reader App, which opens web pages in IE by default. Youtube will not show videos in IE now. It did before I upgraded. YT tells me that I either don't have javascript enabled, which I do, or I don't have Flash installed. I installed Flash Lite 2.1, but no dice. YT will work in Skyfire, but Tag Reader won't open to Skyfire, even when it is set to be the default browser. Any ideas?

I hope you're asking "Which" application is usable on the Android in our HD2.
Basically everything works except some bugs here and there which has been vastly reduced if you had followed suit since the beginning..
You can do your basic phone calls, in and out. SMS msgs in and out, emails.
Play tons of beautiful games.. The pictures taken with the camera seems of better quality..They do better white balancing than on WinMo.
Music player a little sucky in terms of interface but it works.
What you may be irritated:
1. Screen goes off, takes a few presses to get it back on..
2. Screen freezes (quite rare these days) on the build I am using..
3. Wifi works fine but HSPDA sometimes works sometimes don't, what I do is just turn on flight mode and turn it off, and HSPDA works again..
4. Battery life, well, too many conflicting reports. On the build I use, I get an assured 6hrs based on (games, sms, phone calls). Conservative use, I get around 8 hrs. Screen brightness set at 50%.
5. Auto Screen brightness control isn't working.
Ya i mean this
"Which" application is usable on the Android in our HD2.

Tasker: Do you use it? How So?

I'm a user of AutoHotKey on my PC, and I love the little quirky scripts I can write to get rid of daily annoyances or do repetitive tasks.
I'm assuming Tasker is somewhat similar for Android. I've heard a bit about it, but because of the price-tag, never really indulged.
Who around here uses the app, can't live without it, etc?
What types of things do you rely on it for?
Thanks!
I really don't condone stealing, but find Tasker apk *hint* google*hint* test it out see does it meet your needs/wants and if you like purchase the legal app.

I use it for a profile switcher and to toggle between 3g/WiFi when I enter/leave the home or office (each has an Airave).
When we had the Time Without Signal problem and toggling Airplane Mode was the quick fix, I set Tasker to toggle whenever I booted the phone or took it off the charger.
My kids have some geo-fencing text reminders set up for them as well for when they leave school.
Here's a quick link to some of the different tasks you can set up. Some quick Googling and you can pretty much find the script for whatever you need. I love it because one app can handle the job of 5-10 different apps, although sometimes the scripting can be frustrating.
http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index
Tasker
I use tasker for quite a few things. First and foremost is my pattern lock. I hate putting it in all the time at home, so I have tasker disable the pattern lock when I'm on my own wifi. I still keep the slide unlock active because I like the shortcuts on the lock screen.
I also use it for music. So when I plug in a 3.5mm plug without a mic it starts my music player and sets the volume. It also disables the lock screen which is insecure but when I'm driving or running I don't want to mess with a lock screen. When I'm casually listening to music, I have a headset which has a mic attached. Tasker can differentiate and therefore starts up my music app and sets the volume to a non-earsplitting level. For this I leave the lock screen active.
Lets see, when I start any app that uses GPS it automatically activates the GPS and polls my position. I have it automatically manage the screen brightness depending on the time of day. I also have it go to airplane mode if the battery is <5%. If I'm feeling lazy I have it manage when my wifi is on based on location. I have several locations (home, work, coffee shop) that I typically connect while I'm there and turn off wifi when I leave. I don't always use this because it's not 100% reliable.
That's about all I use it for. I can post instructions if anyone is interested.
I went ahead and purchased the app. Pretty cool so far. I'm interested in the profiles you are using, it sounds like you know what you are doing.
Thanks!

Microsoft just introduced a similar app that's free. On{x} I think it's called.
I used to have it set wifi based on network location, but that wasn't always reliable. I use it to set volume levels depending on time, so that way it turns the phone down for work, and then cranks it up after work. I generally always have it making noise on email and phone calls, because I don't always feel it vibrate.
One other neat one I use is to put it in vibrate mode whenever I place the device face down. That way when I'm in a meeting, I take out my phone and just put it face down on the conference table...instant mute. When I pick it up, the sound comes back on. Also handy for charging at night, I just put it face down for the night and everything gets silenced.
I also have a profile that activates based on time and location...so now I don't have to worry about the "loudest cellphone in the world" -- one that goes off in church!
Only limited by your imagination, I found a lot of good ideas on the tasker site.

Here's how I have some of my tasks setup. I made a profile that activates when wifi connected (state->net->wifi connected->fill in whatever you need) and then have two tasks associated with it that I called "keyguard off" and "keyguard on". Keyguard on is my exit task. For Keyguard off go to (display->keyguard->set off) repeat for keyguard on. If you want to have the slide unlock to stay on you have to use a plugin called secure settings. Otherwise it's a similar process you just navigate to "plugins" instead of "display". From there it takes you into secure settings app which is easy enough to figure out.
For the music stuff: I made a profile one for a 3.5mm with a mic and one without (new profile->state->hardware->headset plugged in). Then I made a task which is assigned to the one without a mic, set the keyguard off like above then go to app->load app->your music app of choice. Then set the volume audio->media volume->whatever volume you want. Add an exit task that reactivates the keyguard I just use my wifi task for this. Same process for the one with the mic except I have it go to a lower volume.
To use GPS you probably have to use that secure settings plugin again depending on the rom you are on (im on AOKP and have to use it). Make an new profile (application->choose all apps with gps that you want to trigger this). Make a task (plugin->secure settings->edit->gps->pick state) then add another (misc->get location). Make an exit task that disables gps.
Finally, for low battery make a profile (state->power->battery level->whatever level) and associated task (net->airplane mode->on) and an exit task which turns it off.
There's plenty more that tasker can do, hope this helps you figure it out a little. I mostly just bumbled around the app until I found some useful things plus their website is full of good ideas.
I hope everyone doesn't mind if I add another question to the thread.
I'm interested in using Tasker as well, but I'm concerned that the benefits of automation will cost me in battery life. How much has you battery life changed using tasker, if at all?

Well, you could use the Battery Monitor Widget from the play store (the one with all the graphs and stuff), and use it to see how much the app is using. I doubt it's a lot but I know that it is SOME. The more apps running (and updating/logging) in the background the more battery you are using. Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong but, your phone has to "wake" every time an app needs to do something (update/log)
It does use power but nothing extreme in my experience. If you're using it for setting basic sound profiles and the like it won't be noticable really. You should look at it the other way though, taskers power of automating stuff like knocking off wifi and data connections when you dont need them will probably save battery life.

For the record, you can download a fully functional week-long trial from the dev's website for free.
I do a fair amount with Tasker, but one thing that I haven't seen many other people do is enable/disable battery-draining apps in certain contexts.
For example, I have a power-saving profile that disables a set of apps and services that would otherwise run 24/7. I also use have a profile which lets me run and disable AirDroid in response to a Google Voice text, so I can manage my phone from my laptop without ever touching it.
On my Nook, even small wakelocks add up over time when the battery life would otherwise be measured in days, so I use Tasker to disable just about any app that likely to throw a wakelock while I'm not using the device. Because I'm forgetful I also have profiles to disable wifi when the device goes to sleep, and to email me when the battery is getting low so I remember to charge it.
Finally, I also have generic profiles to lock and reply with GPS coordinates in response to text, turn volume to max and make noise in response to text, unlock when connected to home wifi, and unlock when my alarm goes off so that I don't have to enter my passcode and scan the alarm-silencing QR code I put up in the bathroom.
Let me know if you want more info on any of the above!
Would you mind posting the low battery profile?
I'd like to set that up on my TP.
Thanks!
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Sure, it's not too complicated although it does take a bit of setting up. To start with, in order to enable/disable apps you must use either the SecureSettings plugin with an updated su binary, or use adb commands. I choose to use SecureSettings, since that way I don't have to look up package names.
To disable groups of packages, I first make several individual tasks disabling each one. Then, I make another task which turns off wifi, 4g, and GPS. Next, I make another task which runs appropriate package-disabling tasks for that grouping, as well as the wifi/4g/GPS off task. Finally, I put an icon to run that group task on my homescreen.
Obviously, you'll have to figure out what apps/services you may want to disable for yourself.
Note that you could just as easily put all the package disabling actions in one task, thereby obviating the need to nest tasks. I just did it this way since that's what seemed natural to me, given that I have a few different groupings.
Links to XML files for the wifi/GPS off task, an example package disabling task, and a low power consumption master task.

I had the same concerns when I purchased Tasker, and I've found the battery life impact to be undetectable by me. Mainly, that's because tasker runs based on states, and it doesn't constantly poll the OS for what state it's in.
For instance, I have a task that puts my device on silent when it's face down. From how I understand it works, tasker tells the OS "let me know when you are face down" and then pretty much goes to sleep. The OS handles that, and when it goes face down, it tells tasker "ok, i'm face down now" and then tasker executes its script.
So, tasker really doesn't impact battery life, but if you have it switch on high-drain stuff, then yep, you'll see a difference, but that's what you've set it to do, not the app itself.
HTH,
Michael
I've been very thankful for Tasker. I've used it for over a year now, and its one that I continually use and keep.
A few different ways I use is to set the sound profile depending day and time. It auto sets to vibrate at church and auto sets to sound off overnight. But if certain contacts call (mom, dad, wife, etc) the ringer turns on.
I also use it to turn on wifi when I'm home. Thankfully, I'm on Sprint with unlimited data. But I'm sure on other carriers, data usage may be a concern and using wifi at home could save that data usage.
Another cool way I use it is if I'm driving and recieve a text message, it will auto-reply with a text saying "Texting while driving is bad. I'm traveling at 47.3 mph currently. I'll reply later when it's safe". I know that's alittle overboard, but I think it's nifty.

New problems with Finow X Air
I also just recently got my Finow X air. I love it so far, the problem are just...
apparently the X Air it's the only model in the Finow X 5 linee which doesn't turn screen on automatically when you look at your watch.
I fixed this problem by installing th app "gravity screen" and set it so, that if you turn your watch in special angle away from you, it turns off and if you turn watch to you, the screen automatically turns on, so you have both hands free and can see the time (which is core aspect of any watch!)
the problem now is that, x air seems to automatically turn off gravity screen and any other apps opened before in background after 1 minute and resets every setting (I also hate that stock android keyboard, you can hardly write with it on small watch)
So in summary my problems are:
1. We should have an auto turn off and turn on screen by looking at the watch feature
2. Let us change freely keyboards!
3. Both settings should remain, and not just stay for 1 minute.
Do any of you know a fix or solution for this or experience same problems? Thank you for your answer in advance.
I install this launcher http://roundandroidwatches.proboards.com/thread/758/universal-launcher-new-generation-2
And also use Debloater to freeze some apps
Keyboard is ok but aldo you can install Google handwriting keyboard which will aloud you to write 1 letter at the time but it's working fine for me

Also I use some of this faces

Regarding the auto turn screen on off problem I found
The app "shake screen on off " from play store works even better than "gravity screen".
You shake your wrist and your watch goes on.
Shake wrist again or just wait a Iittle and it turns off.
Problem is that system still automatically closes every app including "shake screen on off" in background in standby mode..
So I tested it with a stop watch and *after exactly 3 minutes in standby mode the watch closes every open app.*
Can someone confirm this or knows how to fix the autoclose problem?

It seems the watch will close Apps once the screen is turned off. Then there are no notifications at all until you re-open the app. For example, Gmail will not inform me the arrival of new emails, even if it is set up as a push email. Only when I re-launched Gmail, then suddenly a bunch of emails come in. I am not able to use the trick mentioned above to enable push notifications. Are there any other options? Thanks.
Gmail were? watches or phone
I use my watches like a assistant to phone and it's push all notification to watch from phone.
I disabled Watch Assistant and install Watch Droid Assistant it's working great for me
I need to clarify that I am using the watch as a standalone device. It has a SIM and not connected to a phone. I would like to get notifications of emails. But it does not work that way. On an Android phone, I would imagine there is a battery optimization setting that I can uncheck to keep the app alive. I am not sure whether there is something like that on the watch.

Hi people,
Whenever I tried to add new faces by clicking on " + " or when i try to load the Finow Appstore, after some time loading, i get a black screen. Yesterday it worked though. As if it couldn't reach Finow server.
I tried resetting, but it didn't change anything.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks!
Hi, I also faced same problem and have fixed it without installing any third party application. Try this .. press center button -> gesture up from bottom -> genture right to left -> genture right to left -> here select the center icon it looks likes torch light.. that’s it .
Thanks for your help, I already tried it, it didn't work.
But today everything works fine, so i guess there wasn't an error on my side, but either on the server's side.
Hi Folks,
I've got the phone for 3 days now and I'm fiddling around with it to see what it can do and what not. I had an Omate derivate with rectangular screen (512MB/4GB, replaceable battery 600mAh) which I found much better to use and which had an sdcard slot. I'm pretty much p...d off that it is impossible to find anything like it with more memory. I found one phone with 320x200 screen in landscape, but only with Android 4.4 and no card slot and not enough memory. So finally, I bought the X5 Air which is not ideal for me, because of too small a battery and the round screen that makes a lot of problems. 2 GB Ram is good, but 16 GB Flash without the possibility to expand is rather mediocre for my purposes aside of the weak battery .
But here I am, and willing to give it a try.
Here is what I did so far:
Rooted with Kingroot
Works, but installs bloatware.
Tested a few launchers:
From the ones I tested I like Evie the most. It works nicely and works quite well with the round screen.
Installed Linux Deploy
Works perfectly. I just copied my installation file from the old phone and can now access the desktop via VNC from any device in the network. Only drawback is that swapoff doesn't seem to work, and obviously it is not a good idea to have a swap space on the internal flash memory of the phone. Defects are prone to happen. With 2 GB, swapping is not necessary, that's why I wanted more memory. More work needed here.
Installed Crono Surf
Looks good, but if I could combine an alternative launcher like Evie with the generic watch face engine, that would be nicer.
Installed Ki4a
Works perfectly, but to access settings, the screen has to be set to the smaller size (rectangular) and it is better to open it in parallel on a normal phone because you cannot read all descriptions.
Installed HERE We Go
Seems to work, but due to the limited flash memory, you cannot download all the maps you would like to have for offline navigation.
Installed Titanium Backup
Works, but some buttons seem impossible to access.
Removed Kingroot
Kingroot installs too much bloatware for my liking. And it cannot be uninstalled via the normal app management (system app). Maybe there is an uninstall routine via the settings in Kingroot, but it cannot be accessed on that stupid round screen. So I used Titanium Backup to uninstall it. Restart after that and Kingroot and Root seem to have gone without trace. Additionally, I reset the device. Until there is a proper way for rooting the X5 Air, I will stay with Kingroot, but it is good to know that I can revert it.
Basically, I can more or less do with the phone what I intended, but one important thing is missing, standard bluetooth tethering. The menus for setting up a hotspot are completely missing. Anybody knows a way or a tool for that?
When I have time I want to try out xposed framework, maybe that can solve the missing options problems, but so far, I really find it annoying to have hardware that is limited by the software. What is this, Apple? Even my 4 yrs old Omate derivate could be easily converted to a fully working android device with homescreen, notification bar etc. And above all it had only 2 buttons but still all the phone navigation actions were possible, incl. a working running-apps list.
Kind regards,
Felix
Do smartwatches support master bluetooth?
Do smartwatches have master bluetooth? I would like to connect speakers or heart monitor strap (I do not like light based ones) to it, and I do not know will it work as it works with a normal android phone.
