Backlight not working

Yes, it's true. My Wizard revived, but with a small problem: the backlight doesn't turn on not even after some Hard Resets and even on bootloader mode, the screen is dim all the time.
I've also changed the settings on the slider with no success and searched the forum and found no answers.
What can cause this and what is the "cure"?

You say you have hard reset it, but have you tried flashing a different original rom to it to see if that fixes it? It might be a hardware problem with the lcd but i did have an issue once on my himalaya after flashing a new rom and i couldnt get the backlight to work, but after flashing an original rom it worked again and then i reflashed a cooked rom and it still worked

I've already flashed the original one...maybe flashing it with something else could fix it...

OK, just reflashed with a WM6 ROM (TNT.1933_Professional___HTC_Home_Wizard.rar) but it's the same. I can barely see what's on the screen. The screen works, the touch works, but it's too dim to use it.
So maybe it's not the backlight, I think it's the front light...
I also have dismantled it and cleaned out the contacts, re-assembled and flashed it again with no luck...
Help?

WM6 ROM (TNT.1933_Professional___HTC_Home_Wizard.rar) <---- that isnt an original rom, i am on about a operator rom that was officially released for your device, i.e. mine is an xda mini-s so my original provider would be o2, so i would use an o2 rom update that was released by them.
What you have basically done is install a cooked rom from itsright. Whoever the phone was released by try flashing their original wm5 rom to your device to see if it fixes it. THEN try flashing the tnt rom

Ok, some new developments. The LCD is fine and working and there's no problem with the backlight. I've manage to find that the issue was the mainboard all along.
I've used another LCD (a good one) and the backlight was still on, so the problem might be the mainboard is fried.
So, anyone can help me out? I just need a new mainboard (can be with the USB Connector in bad conditions, cause I have some solder skills).
Please help me out.
Edit: The Thing now doesn't charge properly. After some time, I get a flashing orange led and my Wizard heats up like it's going to blow...

My i-mate JASJAM HERM 100 oneday suddenly stops in the booting at WindowsMobile logo, i tried soft and hard reset... but no help
This PDA was orginally WindowsMobile 5
IPL-1.00
SPL-1.04
Yesterday i upgrade this PDA software to Windows Mobile 6 , IPL to 1.04, SPL to 2.10.Olipro
I use Elf_Edition_v2.1.exe to update windows ,and tried other versions too
and tried radio version to 1.41 , 1.43, 1.54.00, 1.54.07.....
use Hard-SPL-V7.zip to upgrade bootloader
Everything going fine in Software upgrades..all things can done successfully
But after this too i can't complte the Screen align .. i tried to tap the marks in scren around 15 min to pass the screen alignment..but PDA asks continously to do screen align ..no progress on this .... i tried resets.. but not helps
Is this problem is in any hardware ? is it in my touchpad ?

Windows Mobile 6 (D-3.54,Upgraded using Elf_Edition_v2.1 from xda forum link)

Most screen alignment issues are hardware related, and not caused by a ROM upgrade - and they also don't always show up until you've been using the phone for a while - so I think the ROM upgrade is a coincidence and probably not the cause of the problem.
There is some info here on how to fix the screen alignment problem http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=How to fix the Screen Aligment issue - but be careful because any warranty you have may become void.
This is a known issue for some phones - check here if your serial number is listed http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Problems.
If you have any warranty left you are probably better putting your phone back to standard (use MrVanx's guide) and sending it back for repair. If you don't have any warranty left Then I'd try the 'buisiness card' fix - this worked for me on a Wizard.

screen taping goes to next tap point (+ mark) when i press anywhere in the screen not required to press the exact point (+ mark).
this is very serious alignment problem , doesn't fix by the method shown in forums... can u tell me is this a chance to recover from this fault by changing the touch pad digitizer only ?

If you are comfortable with taking the phone apart and have tried all the methods mentioned in the forum (including ribbon cable connections) then you probably do need a new digitizer.
There are quite a few posts in this forum (search under 'digitzer') and you might get a few more tips - and some of the posts will point you where to get a new digitizer from.

Most folk replace digitizer layer along with screen, but he has done it on it's own.

Prophet Strange MENTALITY

Hi Dear Friends,
I bought one SPV-M600 (same as HTC Prophet) and there was a problem with the sound in ear speaker and microfon. Then I made many updates do different vesions and I found tt this problem disapper. Now I can speak, but I cant hang-up the line and to press the btn in upper right corner, associated to contacts. The most strange is, when I start the camera and then I exit fm camera menu, those two buttons working perfectiy for a some time. I'm sure that this is a software problem. I tried

this reminds me of my problem with the power button and it might not neccessarily be a software problem if it's the same on all ROMs.. i didn't get you - you said it was the same with the original rom, too?

hmm no idea if you can download it.. perhaps if orange released upgrades or something like that.. but you can request some original roms and people will most of the time reply with one
your last hope is servicing where they can put on the original rom and even check out your buttons if you don't mind paying for that..

Using a rom i upgraded a year ago.
So yesterday i decided to update my music on the phone, so not a big deal, but when i tryed to play 1 my telephone said it was out of memory and just went really slow, so i decided a reset, bad move.
After the reset it goes to the 2nd loading screen and just hangs there, i cant do anything.
When booting i can go into the screen with all the colors. (gotta press the cam button).
I already googled 2 days but cant find anything to fix this.
Any idea's ?? or is my phone dead ?

All my snarky comments about your misplaced impatience can be set aside for later abuse.
For now, here's how you fix it:
Charge on a wall charger with phone turned off. Verify green light before going any further (flashes don't work on less than 50% charge, and a full charge is the only way to be sure when you can't boot the OS).
Let it boot until it's stuck in bootloader mode (the three-color screen).
Hook it to a computer that you have previously synced to the phone with. Verify that "USB" appears in the bottom of the screen. If not, you're probably hosed.
Flash the ROM you loaded again (or get another ROM, doesn't matter...the one in my Sig is pretty nice, if you re-skin Manila after loading it). If you unlocked this phone before adding the ROM you last had, do NOT flash back to OEM ROM unless you can flash a ROM that removes the unlock (for G4, it's the Remove HardSPL procedure).
After that, you can stave off a lot of these kind of memory problems in the future by loading some kind of RAM indicator (QuickMenu has a built-in one, can manage running programs, and gives you a Windows desktop-style start menu for programs instead of the dumb endless folder parade) to let you know you have too many programs running, and you need to do a soft reset every once in a while, just to jog it clean. It also would be wise for you to load a cleaner to clear out your temp files...you'd be shocked how much crap piles up under the OS when you're not looking.
One last thing, do us a favor and put all your phone's info in your Sig...it helps others have a strong footing for making suggestions...not everyone would know off-hand that you have a G3 or a G4 without that info, and your problems can be made a LOT worse by someone offering the wrong answer based on not clearly identifying your hardware.

First, Sorry for my impatient, it kinda sucked to have to go back to my old phone and recharge every 30 mins
In this impatiency (dont know if its a word but it sounds cool ) i found out my t-mobile contract was up for renewal, so i did that and ordered a new HTC Touch HD (will update my sig assoon as it ships )
So i guess ill fix this phone, and find a dutch ROM and give it to my dad, he's always working with excel etc and i think this is perfect

Urgent help required (touch screen problem)

i have a mda vario 2 ( hermes) i've been installed a rom called hermes_wwe_3.62 Malina2d now phone boots up fine but the touch screen dose not work at all ! can anyone help ? .
To get pass the alignment screen i had to create a file on storage card " welcome.not" and that got me pass alignment screen.
now i am a newbie so please all the help would be appreciated i did have a look for file called touch.dll to replace it but could find one. ( as i read somewhere that might be the problem.
my ipl -1.04 & spl-2.10.01ipro
i really don't know what to do i have tried to re flash the rom no luck there.
all the hardware buttons work fine.

Not sure about that one. Why not post the question in the thread from where you got the rom? That name doesn't ring a bell.
If not try flashing the stock shipped rom, or the at&t stripped to see if the issue goes away. If it does go away, then don't use that rom.

cant really remember where i got the rom from as i the phone is my little sisters. do you have a link for the rom you suggested

My sig has the stripped rom, and the shipped at&t roms. You can also find some programs and my roms there too.
And to be safe make sure that hardspl is installed.
If that doesn't fix it, there might be a hardware issue.

If you flash one of mine, flash the at&t rom first, that will straighten out any issues with the memory.
if you have 2.10olipro, your all set! spl (or hardspl) is the bootloader.

no luck still having issue with the touch screen wont wont work.

the touch screen used to work fine before. all this it just became very laggy so i decided to upgrade the rom , i went to thru a few roms.
any other idea ?

i must say i do love your rom everything is set out all nice and neatly shame the touch isn't working.

Sounds like it has some kind of hardware issue. If your inclined to take it apart carefully (I haven't taken mine apart yet), you might be able to check all of the connections, and for dirt or anything that might be the issue.
I believe there are disassemble instructions on the wiki.
Maybe someone with more experience in taking the phone apart can chime in.

touchscreen issue
i m having the stupid touchscreen issue i have tried everything ( including disassembly and removing gasket but it still does not calibrate

Sounds like Digitizer could be dead.... Need to replace the LCD and Digitizer if thats the case.
The trouble with this is there are a few different things that could be causing this and just replacing the LCD might not fix it.
Sounds like it could be though. If you are having trouble, DON'T do a hard reset until you have installed an app called "remote screen alignment", freeware off the net. It copies the alignment info to the PC so you can do a quick alignment using the PC instead of the buggered screen. Otherwise you'll be going in circles for ever without being able to get into the today screen.

actually i have hard reset the device
the trick is to put a file called welcome.not on memory card to skip first time alignment
i'll change screen and see if it fixes itself later
i ll use the phone as it is till then

new lcd
i changed the lcd it worked flawlessly for 3 weeks then bang! the bottom half of the lcd stop to work
i think that the ribbon on the lcd got damaged when i installed it on the hermes the fact that it needs to be turned 360 degrees during assembly cause the problem any thoughts from you guys????
