[IDEA] Assign wallpaper according to battery life - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

We have a Diamond Background Changer which changes wallpaper according to time of the day. Would it be great also if we also have a wallpaper changer that can changes background according to battery life remaining?
Probably we can also 'remove' the battery indicator at the top taskbar (freeing up space for a cleaner look) if such an app is possible.
* Just a suggestion. I do not have any programming knowledge hence i don't know if this is even possible.
Thank you

Would you really install it and use it?

sure its, even quite "easy" to do, just adapt the mortscript from the daylight background changer, to take the batterystatus as input instead of the time...
i remember i saw some commands in the mortscript manual whic make it possible to read out battery status...
but on the other hand, why would you want it? you already have a battery indicator right on top of all things....
having a changing background to indicate status doesnt seem logical to me...

Well Ithink it would be very handy if the background would slowly change from green to red using backgrounds in according colours...
i think it's a great idea.

of course i would use it, haha. I have to admit that i'm an app / rom junkie.
Anyway i was thinking if it would be great to remove the whole top and bottom taskbars for a totally 'windowmobileless' look. BUt to do that we need something to replace the battery/ network/ connection/ sound indicators.
The Quickstart menu shouldn't be a problem as i have high hopes for 'touchlaunch'

I actually think this is not a bad idea at all. If you look at some of the colour battery icons, this kind of makes sense. The moment your phone is activated for whatever reason, you can immediately see that status of the battery, without having to look at the (rather small) icon on the taskbar

Hence.. Hello to developers.. any takers?

Great idea, I would use it too! We could add a corresponding battery symbol on each wallpaper, like in S2U2 but smaller

Cool idea, I think also if the wallpaper could change based on the weather that would be really cool.

Idea: Top Bar Transparent

Hi,
Top Bar is the essential on today screen cuz it show many notifications, time etc. So what i was thinking is that somebody make a program to transparent the whole top Bar or atleast it can change with the full screen wallpaper. It means the whole today can go with the wallpaper.
Hoping to see programmer put a hand in making it.
Thanks
And also a program for resizing the top bar would be cool.
nobody wants to even try...
i gaurantee this will be the most useful plugin for ppc user...
somebody should try to make it, cuz im not a prgrammer
Come on you programming gurus..
you had a full 5 hours to do this and no one has done it...
Were you guys sleeping or something?
I currently use VJTOGGLETODAY. Not sure where I got it from but if you do some diggin' I am sure you can find it. you can also look into wisbar adv. as it lets you configure your start button.
SoBBie
this is already possible - transparent bars are part of the theme.
search for home screen designer and have a play
VJ toggle today cannot do that thing and home screen designer is for smart phone only.
I know it is not exactly what your looking for, but here is what I did:
I use WA3, and in the theme I use, I took the top bar image and exchanged it with am image I made by taking my current wallpaper image, and copying the top part (same height as the top bar image in the theme), and named it the same name the top bar image had in the theme I use.
(Sorry if it got too wordy)
Although it isn't truly 'invisible' it does have the effect I wanted. I will try to post a screenshot later when I get home.
anybody willing to make a program on this...

[Theme] Orbalist (WAD2) -Final 1

Hey guys, after gettings my hands on Wisbar Advance Desktop 2 and seeing how powerful it was in theming just the way I wanted, I thought I would make some themes.
I will put the themes I make up here in case anybody likes them so they can use them themselves (any donations would be appreciated).
Before I begin though, a note:
Most of my themes will be minimalist, I like to maximise functionality out of the minimal things on the screen, usually I prefer to see the wallpaper and my themes will focus on this.
The theme I am going to put here is a conceptual idea I had today where I thought that the signals I need can easily be displayed in a "different" way. It's not entirely new, but I have not seen it done like this for a phone theme before.
Anyway, here is my first version of this theme, a couple hours work, and is basic and simple, but i like it for that.
Each Orb or circle represents a signal, from largest to smallest:
Teal: Missed Calls
Yellow: New SMS
Maroon: New Email
Light Green: Wifi ON
Blue: Bluetooth ON
When the orbs/circles are empty, there is no missed call/sms/email and wifi/BT are off. When the colour is visible, there are.
Each can be clicked and will take you to the corresponding item:
Teal: Missed call list
Yellow: SMS list
Maroon: Email Inbox
Light Green: Toggle WIFI ON/OFF
Blue: Toggle Bluetooth ON/OFF
The top left blue circle shows the start menu
Top right blue circle has battery value, and will take you to the battery page (FIXED)
The wallpaper here is just a solid colour, but could be replaced with any colour or image you like.
The orbs/circles can be moved anywhere you like on the screen in any shape or pattern, simply and easily.
EDIT: FIXED: Battery Icon now takes you to battery power page.
EDIT2: OK, this will be the final version for now (until I receive requests). I have added transparency to the circles, I have added a clock, changed the colours for some nicer ones and have also made a landscape version. (Havn't shown screeners because it's practically the same thing). The wallpaper (that may be included) is just a generic general image from the phone, the idea of this theme is that you pick your own wallpaper, so you should change this, and not wonder why it has an aweful one included. Again, if you like, please feel free to donate.(Link in my sig)
NOTE: You may find that the mail icon doesn't link correctly on your phone. That is because on my phone it is linked to "Gmail". You should edit the script for the mail link (maroon one) and in its script you will find "\Windows\tmail.exe -service 'Gmail'". Change the bit in quotes to link your correct account (either what ever you named it, or "ActiveSync" if you're using the Hotmail/Outlook sync. If you use more than one, just remove everything after "\Windows\tmail.exe" and you will be taking to "Messaging"
Nice idea mate,
will check it out when it's done.
Very nice. It's good to see someone thinking away from the "We have to interact with some boxes inside of other boxes" mentality. Down with square buttons!
Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words, I have updated now after working on it all day, and made what will for now be a final version.
Let me know if you download and have any feedback. Bear in mind, as I said, I won't be adding _too much_ more to these because the whole idea was to be minimalist.
That looks really clever, although I think I'd keep getting distracted by the pretty lady!
Hmm very nice idea about circle but i have better idea to turn girl to front face and for first "bubi" assing sms and second "bubi" for new e-mail ) , and if message arrive all bubi start shaking. lol i need this for my today screen.
Hehe
Well, fortunately for those that might get distracted, the pretty lady doesn't come with my theme, I just saw her in the theming thread and thought I'd try it as my wallpaper. You can of course put any wallpaper you like, which is the idea of this theme. The "bubi" idea is a nice one, put it tempts me to make the kind of theme that one shouldn't see before the 9 o clock watershed, so I'll refrain.
I love the minimalist approach - clean and stylish, just the way I like it. Keep it up!

S2U2 Battery Wallpaper

When you activate the to show the Battery at S2U2 the wallpaper disappers. I tried to find the backgrund in the gfx folder, but there are only some for a small part of the screen. The rest stays black. Is it possible to change the screen?
Dude... seriously?
I'm not one of those guys that loses their minds at people who don't use the search function. And yes, I know everyone has to start somewhere... but c'mon.
I use search functions, but in this case I don't seem to find the information. The rest of editing is quite simple. But the hole screen thing with battery I don't find .
My god, it's in the S2U2 settings man!!!!!
The normal wallpaper is in the settings, but if I change to showing the Battery, the wallpaperr is gone, and I just have a green battery on a black wallpaper.
The included S2U2 settings lets you choose when to have the battery screen show up.
However, when you choose the battery screen, your chosen background goes away and you are indeed left with a black background and a charging green battery. This is supposed to happen. I don't believe the default settings allows you to choose a background WITH the battery showing. Someone correct me if I am mistaken.
Unless there is some workaround, you have to choose between your wallpaper or the huge green battery w/ black background. I personally just have the battery show up when i plug my phone to charge

Go into the S2U2 customization thread. The skinners there have designed some batteries without background i recall.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111
Bill80, you'll have to do some serious graphical editing of your battery files.
As previous posters stated, background is intentionally black when charging, and there is a thread which covers editing and modifying S2U2 graphics.
Sorry, but you'll have to read most part of that thread.

Thanx for the answers . I played around with the battery files, and got it at he end. Just scaling the wallpaper file down to the screen resolution, cutting it in 3 parts and overlaying the middle part with the battery (making it transparent). Replicate and widen the middle part to design the look the battery state, and voila.
The tread is over 500 pages long, impressiv. I had looked the before (also via search function), but just to many information to be usfull (at least for me).

Easy tips to make your device look beautiful

I'm probably preaching to the noobs here since most of you seasoned veterans should already know all this. I just thought I would contribute something by consolidating a couple of easy tricks.
Sure, there are numerous themes out there. But these days, there's so many versions of Manila that it can get frustrating to find which theme works for your ROM. So, here's a couple of tips to personalize your device regardless of Manila version.
1. Make your taskbar more interesting and useful
There's really no reason to stick with the default WinMo taskbar. It's bland, boring, and you can only see battery level in 4 increments. There are numerous custom taskbars out there but I find this one the most eye-pleasing to me. Brian's Taskbar
2. Make your wallpaper visible on all tabs of Sense. And don't let landscape orientation mess up the image.
If you use Manila/TouchFlo3D/Sense, don't bother setting your wallpaper via the Settings tab. Your wallpaper will look alright on your Home tab in portrait mode. But you won't be able to see your wallpaper in your other tabs. And if you switch to landscape orientation, your wallpaper will look horrible. This tool solves all these problems. You can also use a completely different wallpaper for landscape if you choose to. HDWall
(The program is easy to figure out. Take the time and patience to do so. It is worth it.)
3. Keep your Today background beautiful in both landscape and portrait orientation
Those of you who use the default Today screen (instead of Sense, Mobile Shell, etc) will know that you set your wallpaper by doing one of the following:
Option A:
-go to "Today" settings
-toggle on "Use this picture as the background"
-tap "Browse" and then select the image file.
-tap "OK"
Option B:
-open the "Pictures & Videos" application
-Browse to the image file and open it
-Tap "Menu"
-Tap "Set as Today Background..."
-Move the selection area according to your own preference.
-Keep transparency level at 0% (This is an odd setting. I can't fathom a reason for not setting it at 0%)
-Tap "OK"
Rather than using a 480 by 800 image. Try using an image that is 1333 by 800 (width by height).
For WinMo 6.5 users who use HTC Sense, this tip still applies to you. This affects the lockscreen image and the background image of the Start Menu.
Awesome! Thanks! Yes there are noobs out there (...me). I definitely appreciate this. Can't wait to try it out!
Thanks, I am a noob and am trying to decipher all these options. Maybe there can be just series of Noob Stickies...?
And I thought I would find out about lipstick and thong undies here...
I just use an 800x800 image... works just the same.

You're absolutely right. If you use an 800x800 image, the wallpaper displayed will not be scaled down and will be shown in full resolution.
However, here's the reason why I suggested using a 1333x800 image:
See the first attachment named 800x800jpg.
The blue represents the part of the wallpaper visible to you in portrait mode.
The red represents the part of the wallpaper visible in landscape mode. (Of course, imagine that the red extends behind the parts covered by blue in the middle.)
But as you can see, there's some chunks of white areas. Those parts of the image will never be displayed.
If you use a 1333x800 image, every pixel will be displayed in landscape mode. See 2nd attachment named 1333x800.jpg.
800x800 vs 1333x800
I agree entirely with the post above (very useful illustrations).
The only thing I would point out is that the 800x800 wallpaper misses out the corners of the picture in both orientations, whereas the larger wallpaper misses nothing out in one, but huge amounts in the other.
So I think it all depends on the composition of the picture really - if most of the picture is interesting then go for 800x800, if the best bits are in the centre third then go for the larger dimensions.
Of course it also depends on which orientation you spend most time using your phone in...
Just what i was looking for since Energy changed taskbar icons.
Brian's Taskbar looks awsome on the phone and ALSO seemed to make many other icons look more stylish such as storage card and folder icons. Im sure i will run into more stuff from this. Thanks
I have to say thanks for this post. I was unaware of another stable taskbar aside from Tsowen's work and Brian's definitely rocks.
Great post. I'm not exactly a noob, but I haven't spent any quality time with my phone for the last couple of months. I was waiting until some of the bugs got worked out on the programs I was hoping to use. And besides, hubby just got a Verizon Palm Pre so it renewed my interest in making my phone that much better than his.
Your directions were so complete and easy to use. My phone looks great now. That 3rd step was one I hadn't thought of. Last night I installed Brian's taskbar and HDwalls. The wallpaper looked wonderful. I thought I was stuck with the default background for the start menu until I got up this morning and tried your step 3. Now I'm a very happy camper. Thanks for the effort you took in writing this post.
Maybe a bit of a silly question, but I love those tomatoes on the lock screen. Is there any possibility that you could post that picture here?
Thanks in advance
Thanks! was looking to change the default taskbar, but didn't know how.. now i do
BTW: also like the tomatos!

would be helpful if you mentioned what ROM you're using and what taskbar is causing you difficulties....
WM 6.5
Rom 1.86.415.2 (67102)
and i tried both brain's taskbar and spike's
few min ago i used another Brain taske bar
(New_F_ Brians WM6.5 Taskbar gfreek edition V5a.cab)
it works without a bug in the signal icon , but i'm not lovin the icons really niko's were much pleasant for me, especially the start icon its not the htc logo
also i have another question my friend, which i chose to show clock on taskbar , it used to show it in any running program but not in the Home screan and it's taps , which is logic
since i update the Rom and the clock in the task bar shows in the Home screan and make the battery disappears !!!!!
even when i installed this brain taskbar also the clock removes the battery icon from the home screan

[STOCK] See the battery "AND" the clock.

I noticed that under setting> Home> Display clock in taskbar, that this give you option of having ONLY your digital clock "OR" your battery icon. Not both.
Without installing something like battclock, etc, Is there a way to make both the clock and batter to be present but not overlapping?
Thanks.
Battclock seems to be the only way.

i refuse to use it because the background is not able to go transparent. its always some solid color. And plus, it uses more RAM.
rebump 10char
Does anyone know if SPB PocketPlus battery bar works on HD2? I used to use this on my TytnII, but I haven't tried it yet on my HD2.
personally im using the "Display clock in taskbar" option along with VistaHide Battery Gauge, so i got a nice little bar on the top of the screen showing the battery and the clock in the taskbar.
(it looks something like this)

lol. i only see the battery in the task bar. the clock isnt' the clock is on manila.
the vistahide battery meter suggestion is meaningful (as you can see in the screenshot) because the battery can now be represented by the 1-2 pixel line across the top of the screen, leaving the default battery meter free to be changed to the time/clock.
however, i understand your requirement because i am also searching for this solution. i remember back in the days of WM6.0 and WM6.1, the "display the clock on the title bar in all programs" worked a bit better. it would show battery when on the home screen (because your home screen might display a better and bigger clock) and it would show the clock when an application/program was in the foreground. i really miss that behavior in WM6.5, though WM6.5.x handles this situation a bit better if i remember correctly.
the link on my previous post, is just the vistahide battery gauge ofc.
i have attached the screen of my phone this time to check the whole thing.
the bar shows that i have more or less 50% battery left
i dont like the rainbow looks. is it possible to make the meter one solid color? anyone?
any solution to this guys?
