[Q] any ideas ? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

hi
there is a tweak in iPhone make the screen goes off during call as soon as you put the phone on your ear and it goes on again as soon as it gets light (taking the phone off your ear)
and i think its using the light sensor to do that
any ideas how can we get this on diamond ?

S2U2 does this... Check here for more info

thanx alot but this means i have to use the S2U2 dialpad
and i like the htc diamond dial pad
i know that s2u2 does that but i am asking for a cab or tweak that enables it in htc diamond dial pad
any ideas?

and btw s2u2 make the screen goes off when you put the phone up to your ear but it doesn't make it goes on when you take the phone down and that's what i am asking for!

S2U2 goes off in a specified time

I'd love one that just turned off the screen when a call is connected, and turns it back on when its ended.
No small apps that do that at all? I don't like S2U2.

Me too! I hope someone will let us know what the Reg Setting is, or there is an app that at least will shut off the screen when the call connects, as s2u2 does...

Once I've got this stupid VS2008 installed, I'll see if I can write one.

Automatic Screenlocker

1 thing that bugs me about the X1 is that when I make a call or receive a call I press the display with my ear and I'm entering menues and possibly even changing settings without knowing it.
Is there a way to automatically lock the screen when making a call or receiving a call? (like it's done with the power button)
Any help is appreciated
It should be possible to steal the registry settings from a TyTn 2 device or Touch Pro for that setting. Anyone here know the specific registry settings?
As an alternative search the Kaiser forums, someone over there will have the details.
My x1 does this anyway
After being on a call for around seven seconds, the screen locks and only activates again by pressing power, hang up or answer call (Green/pickup)
No idea if this is intended...but its certainly a good idea.

I found this over at the Kaiser forum: S2U2
This app has the screenlock/screenpoweroff feature among others. Check it out. It's free too!
Thank you for the replies!

I works on the X1, but sometimes the app fails to bring itself to the front. So it appears nothing happened when in fact the display is locked. This happens alot in landscape. To set things right again just go to portrait mode and tap the iLock icon twice (if it's already running it will shutdown itself, tap again and it starts).
EDIT!!
I found a fix for the landscape bug. Change display from direct draw to Raw Buffer.

Mine does the same, it turns off and I must press the power button to activate again..
I think that S2U2 was fun for a while but nothing more than that. What i wan't is something that uses the standard lock activated by the "No"-key and turns it on automatic. Dosen't some other WM phone have these issues?

Hi fotoingo,
This is just what I needed - thanks.
As a non dev and just returning to WinMo after a long absence, please can you advise how I would get the hard keys on the X1 to work during a call and just disable the touchscreen?
Thanks

for all s2u2 fanatics out there. run the version 1.22 its the most stable for X1 and disable backligt check and direct draw off, never hangs or anything at all.
there are better solutions for win mo phones then s2u2, otherwise buy an iphone...

best locking program

i have tried all versions of s2u2 but its too buggy - particularly with incoming phonce calls; i am back to the stock Lock.
Anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
Throttlelock is my favorite just because it also adds a security element to your phone...not just slide to open which is fine for those who don't care but I used it for almost 3 months not buggy at all...
S2U2 runs perfect for my, I just disable the caller ID.
I have been using throttlelock for afew days now and really enjoy it. It is more secure than s2u2 or the factory lock. Prior to this I used the factory lock. I stopped using s2u2 for a few reasons:
1- When you set it to lock when device wakes up, often times I would turn on the phone, 3 seconds later it would lock, then I would have to unlock it to use it. With throttlelock however, as soon as the screen turns on, the lock is displayed.
2- a little too iphone-esq for me
However, I still have s2u2 installed because I really like the 'blank screen on talk' feature.
S2U2 1.35 is up, and caller ID working PERFECT for me, so far at least, will get more use tommorrow.

What does the "blank screen on talk" feature do? I have S2U2 and I never have understood what the feature did so I've always kept it disabled.

It will blank the screen during a phone call to prevent screen taps.

on another note...Version 1.35 of s2u2 seems rock solid for me.
any more reviews on 1.35 ? or ThrottleLock?

kei,
what is your setup? the Vogue's stock caller-id has problems with s2u2 - with the s2u2 caller id off, of course.
what do you have set up?

Iam using OMJ's manilla 2d rom and s2u2 version 1.35. Version 1.30 really screwed up my phone so i had to hard reset. Version 1.32 was released a few short days later and fixed what ever was causing issues that 1.30 had... In the settings for s2u2, i tried the other graphic settings but left it at direct draw as everything seems to be fast.
1.35 i noticed works flaslessly and everytime my screen goes blank it shows the lock screen. Caller ID, blank screen on talk and all other features are bang on for me...

Turn off screen during call?

Hi everyone! I tried a search, but wasn't exactly sure what to search for, so I'm just going to post and ask. Are there any apps out there that will make it so that, during a call, when you're phone is up against your head, the screen turns off, but, when you move the phone away from your heard, the screen comes back on (like the you-know-what-phone)? I find that I waste a lot of battery b/c the screen is on during my calls. I was looking at all the "lock" apps, but I wasn't able to discern if they actually do this or not. Please let me know. Thanks!!
Screen off?
If the screen is on during your calls, you've tweaked some settings to make it do that... or flashed a ROM which has been set that way on purpose, because the default setting for stock ROM's is to switch the screen off automatically during a call - obviously to stop you pressing unwanted keys with your ear, and to save battery (you can't see the screen anyway when it's against your ear). It would be great to have the screen come back on automatically admittedly, but it doesn't take much effort to press the action key (centre D-Pad)!
My XDA Ignito leaves the screen on during calls as well, bloody annoying.
It's the standard Uk 'O2' ROM, I haven't messed around with it.

It is worthwhile downloading and installing the latest version of Diamond Tweak. In the settings there is an option to stop the screen from going off when you make or receive a call.

[APP] hAndyFlip - Turn Off The Backlight When The Device Is Face Down

UPDATE
Now working but........
...You need to have ChangeScreen installed for this little app to work. I have included the cab at the end of the post.
I have updated the cab below.
The screen now turns off when the phone is face down and turns back on as you turn it over.
When the phone is face up normal operation is restored.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Previous Release Notes
I put together this little APP after a post by Maverick777.
Install to your device and when you place the phone facedown the backlight will turn off.
When you flip the phone over the backlight will turn back on.
Hopefully, a few people will find this useful.
Thanks for this

I have updated the cab. I suspect it doesn't work because I did not realise you need to have ChangeScreen installed to make my little app work. I am a ROM Flash Junkie and after flashing a new ROM I tried hAndyFlip and it did not work. I had not put ChangeScreen in my auto setup and once installed it worked.
hAndyFlip reads the registry keys to establish the rotation of the device and at present the keys that dynamically change are created by ChangeScreen.
To be honest ChangeScreen is one of the cab's I install after every flash. I would give it a try whether of not you find hAndyFlip useful.
Thank you for this program. But I have a problem.
When you flip the phone over the backlight will turn back on.

This doesn´t work. When I flip the phone, the display remains black.
The other way around (phone is face down) it´s o.k.
Is there something to set up? By the way, i didn´t find an icon of handyflip.

Have you installed ChangeScreen ?
I have it on my device and it works - in fact I now install it after each Flash.
The ICON is in \windows\startup
Would you prefer it in programs ? and maybe the option to toggle on/off ?
I deleted the shortcut in the autostart folder and made a shortcut by hand. I don't know why but now the program works as it should.

I think it's ok how it is because you can "deactivate" it when you push the power button to turn the display off by hand.
Thank you,
Max

Max,
Just realised that I made an error in the cab. The shortcut it creates is wrong ! That was the problem.
I'll recab it tonight and upate the first post.

Thank you, Andy!
Could it be that the application drains the battery? The battery has drained very fast although I haven´t used the phone (Touch HD) as much.
Has someone else noticed higher battery consumption?
Or maybe ChangeScreen is the culprit?

Max, I've a feeling it maybe changescreen.
I'll do a bit of testing and come back to you.
I observed that that the cpu-usage of handyflip is very high (about 17-20%). So I deactivated it and now the battery consumption is normal (although changescreen is enabled).

Dahoarty,
Thanks for this very useful application. It works fine on my HD.
Looking forward for ur next version
This looks like a really useful app. Noticed though that the startup link is still broken and also high CPU usage as per previous posts. One request, when I turn face up and screen comes back on it doesn't just switch the screen on but it also takes me back to the home screen. Can it be adjusted so when I turn face up the screen light comes on only and it will still be in the program I was using (say music player etc).
Cheers
Barney

Hi Barney,
I am working on a new version and I will try to include your request. Please bear with me.
Andy
waiting for update.
have there been any update? I really like the idea of the program, but it doesn workin on my tillt2
got it working.but
so I changed the path in the lnk file and got it working.. but it works a bit too well... it never allows the phone to go to sleep.. If I suspend the device and leave it perfectly still, it will stay suspended . if I move it at all, it wakes us.
I wonder if there is a way to only have the script fire if your phone is face down .. and then once it is face up, it doesnt run again till it is face down again..
I figure that is why the battery drains so much
thanks!
Nice little app - useful when you're listening to music. Thanks, I have been looking for something like this.

s2u2 problem with wm6.5

hello.
i've encountred something weird with s2u2 and wm6.5 on my hd2.
i get a call, and the full screen from s2u2 works for a second, but then the regular small and enoying caller canvas of the wm6.5 comes ontop of the
s2u2. when the ends the same thing happens but reversed. the wm shuts down and i can see the s2u2 screen for a second and then it disappears.
i've uninstalled BSBtweaks and CHTeditor cause i thouhgt maybe that's the problem. but no. still the same. even reinstalled s2u2. same thing.
maybe i should do a hard reset? can anyone point me to how to do it. it still doesn't promises resolts but i'm willing to try anything. i realy like the way
s2u2 "supose" to show the caller. i say "suppose" cause i haven't realy seen it or worked with it...
thanks for any reply...
I would recommend you turn off Caller-ID in S2U2, I have been doing this as the Sense Caller ID screen works in much the same way and offers like capabilities. Once you have turned off S2U2 Caller-ID, all should work perfectly!
yeah but
i really like a big full screen caller id. and with the s2u2 lock screen it seemed perfect...
So I would say you either go pretty or working, your choice... mine was for working
I have an issue also, when pressing the back button, it trigger volumn rocker button...any solution to this???
