i know this would be ridiculous but is there any way for me to disable the sound or disable certain button from functioning by editing some registry value?
I want to have full control over those hardware

You can disable just about any aspect of the device in the registry (including the whole device)
Unless you are specific about what you want to do then you won't get much help. There are literally thousands of values in the registry.
Mike

If you mean disable screen taps then go to settings>personal>sounds & notification>events. Untick events (warnings, system events)
You can disable the buttons by going to settings>personal>buttons. Pck a button you want to edit and select <NONE>. This will effectively disable the button. Easier and safer than screwing around with the registry. Also easy to fix quickly if you decide you do want a function on a button.
Cheers...

Help again please (registry settings)

Hi, Im after some help again please (or even a nudge in the right direction).
OK basically I have a lot of SPVM500 and SPVM2000's to configure.
On of the things I have to go is disable the buttons (calendar, contacts, camera etc) including the OK button (if possible) and the green and red buttons too (again if possible). I'm not allowed to use any additional apps and so I have to use a merged registry entry. Can anyone advise, reg key's etc?
Thanks in advance.
You don't ned a registry hack to do that. Just go to Settings-Buttons and delete the entries. I don't think there's a way to disable the Call and End buttons.
Hi thanks, yes I know I can go into the buttons settings, but with 500 devices to configure a registry merge would make my job that much easier lol. I have some registry input already that sets up my gprs etc from an autorun on an SD card, this is just for some other settings.
Also the buttons settings don't let you turn off the click in the center of the 'joystick'
Cheers
I'm not aware of a registry hack for your needs, sorry.
no worries, thanks for taking the time to reply anyway

Editing the Start Button

I use SPB Mobile Shell and I would like to make it so "SPB Menu" comes up when I press the Start button on the top left hand corner.
Is there a way to do this?
I dont think this is possible, but why would you want to do that, a pop up menu is great in my opinion.
I recommend you to assign the spb menu to one of your hardware keys, like the camera key or something like that,
cu
It is possible - for example QuickMenu can replace the start menu with itself. HTC EnlargeStart Menu does the same. Maybe it needs some kind of registry hack.

I LOVE the SPB Menu and since I use my fingers 99% of the time on my Touch I don't really have a use for the built in Start menu.
I know there has to be a way to do this, I just hope it is a easy one.
I looked through my registry a bit but I didn't see anything that would change this.
It has to be possible.
Is there a way to do a registry dump, perform the HTC Start Menu Tweak and then perform another dump and somehow compare them to see what has changed?
With Wisbar Advance 3 you can map the start button to anything you want.
I installed Wisbar Advance Desktop to play around with when I first got my Touch. I uninstalled it because I didn't like the functionality. After the uninstall I still have Wisbar icons showing up in some of my menu's. There is no way I am going to install one of their bloated products just to do one simple function.
Hi, i am looking for the same Startbutton tweak.
I want to remove the Startbutton AND the word "Start" right to the button.
Wisbar Lite Taskmanager does remove the word "Start".
I'd like to know how this works, and somehow it must be possible to remove or reassign the Startbutton without installing WAD or WA3, a megapackage for only one function.
If someone has the skills to do this and/or write a simple program to make this happen I wouldn't mind compensating them. Either in $$ or Webhosting!
Nothing is being removed in most of these cases, the start button and or title bar is being covered up.

I don't want anything removed, I just want to change the link on the Start menu to point to something else.
bump it up!
I compared the registry with the large menu on and off and this is all I found. Not much help (for me anyway).
BIG START MENU
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"DropDown"=dword:00000000
"Enable"=dword:00000001
LITTLE START MENU
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"Enable"=dword:00000000
"DropDown"=dword:00000000

He says that it's not a registry tweak... maybe those programs relocate the title bar and put themselves in that positions looking similar with different functions... That is the way that evb used to work fullscreen (relocating the title bar, sip and taskbar)...
I finally gave in and reinstalled Wisbar Advance. I would rather accomplish this without using Wisbar but for now it will work.

Police WinMo6 registry? (ie. prevent changes from being made)

On my PC, Spybot notifies me when applications are attempting to change registry keys and gives me the option to allow or deny, and to make my decision sticky. Is there an app for WinMo that will provide the same type of functionality?
I'm thinking that if I could block out the reg change that's made when my 6800 keyboard is slid open, I can prevent the screen from auto-rotating
Feasible?
I haven't heard of a wm program that does this...seems like it would have to be persistent in memory to catch the changes.
Just curious, are you sure the auto-rotate uses the registry at all?
Yup, it sure does. I specifically kept the GDI/ROTATION key open in Resco Reg Explorer when I slid the keyboard out and in, sure enough the value changes and changes back when they keyboard is moved. So SOMETHING is telling that value to change.. just have to figure out what, or somehow lock that reg key LOL

Any way to remap the panels key?

i want to change it to the power key,
You can try this if you want -> http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
Otherwise you need to go into the registry yourself and make some changes. Something I don't want to mess with at this point (button mapping).
Post your results so we know.

It does what the remapping does but it still also opens panels
unbinding it doesnt work either, i guess the only way to remap this one is through the registry

Why don't you find out this by ourself? Make a backup of the registry, untick/tick the checkbox and do backup again. Compare those two files and see what changed. It's the way how I do it myself.
In my opinion the easiest tool to accomplish this task is CeRegEditor. You'll find it here: http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/index.php?id=1&lang=en

Tried that! And just by unchecking the tick box there seems to be 4410 registery keys that are different unless I am doing something wrong?

Ahahahha, not possible, my Lord.
Do a backup while you are on the panel screen. Don't click anything else, just the checkbox. After you click it and confirm by tapping "ok" don't do anything else and do a backup again. Also, you should turn on airplane mode before doing the first backup to ensure that the least keys have been modified at the time you where doing the backup.

Ah thats were I went wrong. I did a backup from the main home screen and then compared by going to the screen and unchecking the box opps! Did get the key in the end though, thanks again for your help it is an awsome program!
I found it under hklm\software\oem\tflosettings\apvibrationon - change value to 0
Another helpful tool that identifies changes is Kheb. Great program and is very easy to use
Jepp, it also keeps track of file changes.
However, there is a big cons for me - works really slow.
You can select registry (or file) compare only with Kheb. It is the easiest free tool for what you want. It only takes a minute or two; it took you over 2 hours to get your first reply in the thread, lol. You can also use SK Tracker.

Depends on the device you're using... Works so long that I could design a PID controller in MATLAB faster then Kheb creating a snapshot.
So for comparing registry I prefer CeRegEditor. It's just easier to use, more convenient to look into the registry using a PC.
I use Kheb to compare files that changed, it's a great program, however it still doesn't monitor all files. I run into problems when trying to figure out database changes. Those files are probably in use and Kheb cannot hash them.
SK Tracker will follow databases; I use kheb more often, because of the 'create oem' option, which is really nice. It's a lot easier than having to cut and paste out all of the registry keys that you need.

Thanks again for all your help guys, there are some great pacakges and it will really help to develop my oskitchen for the HD2. Oh if you are interested to have a look the link is here
