Hey everyone.
Im just thinking, surley its possible to create a pseudo 3d object on our diamond usuing the gsensor.
Basically, generate a cube shape on screen.
then when we tilt the device to the side, morph the cube to the side, same for up and down.
With pseudo 3d you need to be careful of viewing angle for it to work, but if we work this like we are holding the phone in front of us then we should be ok for someone to at least start a proof of concept?
Closest thing i saw was the diamond cubes app, that should be a good start for someone drawing the cubes, all that would need doing is morph the cube on tilt.
Im just a thinker, no a do'er lol if anyone could take this up im sure people would love it.
That sounds really great. What also would be nice, to be able to scroll through TF3D using tilt motions. Maybe with vibration feedback.
Somebody already did that for the Iphone...

3D plane
Here is a very rough and basic application that reacts to the movements of your diamond: Plane Sensor
It is not yet fully 3D, but the plane can be seen from different angles. Try turning your Diamond in (landscape) different directions.
It is also movement based in the sense that the sound will only be there if a movement is detected.
I think I can easily create a cube that would react to the movements. Let me have a try, could take a few days, because I have a queue of ideas to implement now
The one on the iphone is not only a gen sensor, note that the character will turn while the iphone is turning.
If a device has a digital compass this will be a piece of cake but while it hasn't, I think the only method is to detect the "slightly angle" change of the device while turning. For example, assume the device is place on a table of 5 degree X-direction, when the device is turned for 180 degree, the angle will changed to -5 degree X-direction, and the character will follow to have a 180 degree turn --- which is a simply sin cos calcutation.

why do you think it is fake?
in direct3d you specify 3 planes, X, Y, and Z
you can animate anything into it an you can turn any of the axes
only the visible stuff is calculated and displayed
i think it's real, i think these axes are turned through the accelerometer
no?

Yeah that iphone dude did it as an idea to inspire developers.
So... back to the bog standard proof of concept cube idea, anyone thinking of taking up the challenge?
Hi guys, I'm writing to you in order to get some advices/experiences. The old handy of my wife is slowly dying and it's time to think bout something new. I'm writing in this section because she is a Sony Ericsson lover and she grabs my HTC Desire whenever she can to play Angry Birds...
The point is that I don't have ANY experience on Sony Ericsson Android models...plus the few of them I could hold in my hand didn't really impressed me at all..actually..let's just say I didn't like them at all..
So..beacuse of our budget I first was thinking to get her a ZTE Blade, which seems worth its cost..but before moving on I would like to read some of your opinions: you that you own this X10...are you satisfied? Would you recomend it?
And last but not least: is it a tough phone? I mean..I know with tecnology you HAVE to take care...but my wife just can't do that: she really doesn't pay ANY attention to her "tecnological stuff" & she's SO MUCH in love with her present handy cause it survived any sort of torture you can put ur handy through!!
So..I could get the ZTE at his full price on eBay...or the X10 with a discount of around 200€ on a local shop...which one to choose?
Hope I didn't brake any forum rule with this..
Anybody there?

When i had my x10 it had a rubber case and it was pretty resilient, the stock screen protector on a new x10 saves the screen some damage but a touch screen phone in the same pocket as your keys is a bad idea.
The only hardware problem i can think of is the microusb port on the phone has a habit of coming loose (although i never had a problem with it)

Vengeance

Mind you the x10 has got a larger screen, in general feels like a more quality phone. You can pick up a cheap case (the rubber ones not silicone). The buttons on the front are subject to some wear and tear, should be fine if you don’t torture it
There was a guy from India ,he posted his phone which got under a BUS..screen cracked, buttons not working but voila he could make calls, half of the screen was working with touch...if you talk about build quality X10 indeed is on the strongest phone.
and with 2.3 X10 is as par with arc as i know women don't care about bravia display, exmor r crap and all..!!

Anyone know where I might find some paint to touch up some scratches on the casing of my dhd?
Sent from my Motorola Startac running Atari 2600 software!
Car/auto store. Car touch up paint would likely to the trick and it comes in hundreds of colours.
Will still probably look crap though. Might be better to cover it up with a case.
Edit - I see you are in England. Try Halfords.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Hmm, thanks for the idea too.. Car shop.. will never thought of it for 100 yrs
I resprayed my tytn2 years ago with halfords automotive paint, I wouldn't go for the touch up kits, the results are generally rubbish especially on something as small as the dhd.
You could always dismantle it and spray the chassis as I did...
Going to spray my android tablet in neon green next week, its not hard just take your time and don't rush ;-)

Heres about the craziest but cool idea i've seen for the EVO yet, check out this device,if you love to game, this is for you,its called "EVO-Tainment".....
If you liked the idea of the EVO-Tainment gaming system but thought the execution was rather unwieldy, then check out G&E reader bradleyw801's more streamlined version of the handheld rig that mates an HTC EVO with some Wii controllers.Hes named it the EVOcade and if you want to make one for yourself, bradleyw801 has kindly put together a quick tutorial and a video to show and tell you how to do it.
Here's what you need to make your own EVOcade rig:
•Rooted HTC EVO 4G with wiimote app
•Wii Remote
•Wii Classic Controller Pro
•Nyko Classic Controller Grip - only the clear plastic piece is used since the Pro controller already has grips
•Windshield mount for EVO - no universal solution for this, but here's a low-profile option to consider
•Super Glue
•Something to use as a spacer - bradleyw801 bought a roll of magnetic strip, cut/shaped it with a razor knife, and used it to fill gaps and provide more contact for the Super Glue
Heres a "How To Video"
http://youtu.be/qw_UBLt-Ckk
Proving that HTC EVO 4G owners are a creative, resourceful, and somewhat wacky bunch, a fellow by the name of Jack Malone has gone ahead and created this crazy-looking thing he calls the EVO-Tainment.
WFB Gadgets has plans to get an "injection molded plastic version of this system" made for all the EVO gamers out there who like to buy things off the shelf, but DIYers can replicate this Frankintendo (that's Frankenstein and Nintendo, by the way) creation out of a universal GPS mount, modified Wii racing wheel, Wii classic game controller, Wiimote, and some velcro by themselves. Since getting something like this mass-produced, even on a small scale, won't happen overnight, interested parties should feel free to take on the project and maybe see if they can get the EVO-Tainment to level up in the Design Worlds or something.
Video of some emulated Mario action below.

I bought this when it first came out. It was really a cool idea. I ended up changing out the holder because it was too big..
All in all i loved it, its still around here somewhere...
I know that the most of us have seen this - http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/wikipad-sees-last-minute-delay-for-new-bundle-and-refinement/
BUT
I IS possible to make a mod that adds a controller to the Nexus 7. The question is, is it possible for us to make one? Or do we have to wait for a company to make one?
I've looked into making one but the problem all the controller boards are one single board, none of them are split in the middle. If anyone has any ideas post them here.
Theoretically of course it's possible to make one, its a big challenge but we already know we can OTG connect an Xbox/ps3 controller.
I'd prefer to wait and see if a proper controller mod becomes available though.

I think it is already been done by NYKO see the PLAYGROUND APP IN GPLAY it's for the two new controllers at game stop the NYKO PLAY PAD PRO AND THE PLAY PAD the app does pretty much what your wanting and alot more controllers are $40.00 and the app is free GOD BLESS YOU GUYS almost forgot to say that these controllers are specially designed to work with NVIDIA TEGRA also has HID support for touch mapping and mouse and keyboard emulation you can also sync and select button profiles for all your games I hope that this helps you guys

I think the OP means a controller that fits around the outside of the nexus 7, to make one single unit.

Nexus 7 Cradle Joystick Controller Mod
When I first saw the WikiPad I definitely wanted the cradle style that engages the screen with the user. I'm guessing we will have to wait.
I did make one on the cheap (less than $8 out of pocket due to a gift card and some parts at home). It gives 4 buttons on the right and 4-way directional control which can be used in conjunction to the touch screen buttons- nothing compared to a SixAxis, but I haven't seen any cradle type joysticks like the WikiPad. I use it for emu's that I play most the time, key mapping is required, and is not natively recognized.
This first one I made as a quick mod with intentions of being budget minded. With your post, you have me thinking of making a BT SixAxis like dual analog with 2 trigger buttons however...
I'm thinking this cradle can be used to house the PCB behind the Nexus7 (inside the cradle case with a panel cover) since there is a decent amount of inner depth, while being able to solder and route wires to potentially add the analog sticks all behind the scenes... I predict a little bit of fiberglassing to accomodate the button and stick housings, but I don't see it being impossible. Maybe my next project in line.
Original Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33436763
That's an impressive cradle you made there. I've yet to look at the controller, I'll be taking it to work with me tomorrow so I'll post the feasibility to slicing it in two tomorrow.
Yeah I imagine it would have dpad and analogue stick.on left, buttons and analogue stick on right, that would be sweet.

I'm a little bit into classic gaming/Mame cabinets, a lot of people dissect the 360 or psx controllers to use the PCB for input and run long wires all the way to their buttons. I'm sure by the time I made one using good components with my luck one will be already manufactured for cheaper. Still would be a good challenge for a weekend project.

So I had a look at my 360 controller, you're right its one complete circuit board, no place to separate it anywhere.
I think it may be possible to remove analogue sticks and mount them, and run wires back to the board. And as you say, house the board and wires in the back or bottom of the housing.
I may have to find a cheaper controller to go butchering mind!
