Touch up paint - Desire HD General

Anyone know where I might find some paint to touch up some scratches on the casing of my dhd?
Sent from my Motorola Startac running Atari 2600 software!

Car/auto store. Car touch up paint would likely to the trick and it comes in hundreds of colours.
Will still probably look crap though. Might be better to cover it up with a case.
Edit - I see you are in England. Try Halfords.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Hmm, thanks for the idea too.. Car shop.. will never thought of it for 100 yrs

I resprayed my tytn2 years ago with halfords automotive paint, I wouldn't go for the touch up kits, the results are generally rubbish especially on something as small as the dhd.
You could always dismantle it and spray the chassis as I did...
Going to spray my android tablet in neon green next week, its not hard just take your time and don't rush ;-)

Anyone know what's next???

Hi guys!
Well, my wife ended up submerging her pocketpc in a bucket of water, so now I'm looking for a new one!! LOL!
Anyways, I've gone from an SX66 Blue Angel to a 8125 Wizard to an 8525 Hermes.
Does anyone know what's new in terms of the 'next step up'?
I lllllllove the look of the Universal (VGA screen?? mmmmm), but it doesn't work on the 850 band here with Rogers.
So, any ideas if I should hit ebay for another 8525, or is something nice and juicy (with, of course, Bluetooth/Wifi/keyboard) just around the corner...
Ideas welcome!
Thanks!
Mike
Kaiser
as far as I'm concerned the Kaiser will be the whole package.
do a quick google search for the specs and you'll see why.
Definately the Kaiser
[sarcasm = on]
Dude - you SOOOO need to get an iPhone. It looks so cool. Oh - and as far as specs go... um... did I mention it looks SOOOO cool.
[sarcasm = off]
What about the Glofiiiiiishi or the Toshiba?
Kaiser would be great tho, but HTC are still going incrementally I think right now.
V
I'm worried about battery life on the Toshiba. They claim a mere 2hrs of talk time
Sure is a purdy screen tho.... HTC needs a 640X480 device soon.

Have you tried removing the battery, soaking the ppc in distilled water and then allowing to dry for a day or two? Often the distilled water will dissolve the impurities that were in the other water that bridge circuits...not that I've tried it, I simply don't drop my devices!!! My manager on the other hand, well lets say he goes thru phones like tissue in a girly movie.
avi-converter
I have a mac book pro, i have an 80GB IPOD, and I have the IPod shuffle. I also have a cell phone with Cingular/AT&T.

have u tried taking out the battery and leaving the phone in a bowl of dry rice, sounds wiered i know but it soaks up the moisture and usualy gets things going again
I'm kinda leaning towards the Imate Ultimate range in particular the 7150.
Unless of course HTC brings out a model with VGA screen.

Shopping help

Hi guys, I'm writing to you in order to get some advices/experiences. The old handy of my wife is slowly dying and it's time to think bout something new. I'm writing in this section because she is a Sony Ericsson lover and she grabs my HTC Desire whenever she can to play Angry Birds...
The point is that I don't have ANY experience on Sony Ericsson Android models...plus the few of them I could hold in my hand didn't really impressed me at all..actually..let's just say I didn't like them at all..
So..beacuse of our budget I first was thinking to get her a ZTE Blade, which seems worth its cost..but before moving on I would like to read some of your opinions: you that you own this X10...are you satisfied? Would you recomend it?
And last but not least: is it a tough phone? I mean..I know with tecnology you HAVE to take care...but my wife just can't do that: she really doesn't pay ANY attention to her "tecnological stuff" & she's SO MUCH in love with her present handy cause it survived any sort of torture you can put ur handy through!!
So..I could get the ZTE at his full price on eBay...or the X10 with a discount of around 200€ on a local shop...which one to choose?
Hope I didn't brake any forum rule with this..
Anybody there?

When i had my x10 it had a rubber case and it was pretty resilient, the stock screen protector on a new x10 saves the screen some damage but a touch screen phone in the same pocket as your keys is a bad idea.
The only hardware problem i can think of is the microusb port on the phone has a habit of coming loose (although i never had a problem with it)

Mind you the x10 has got a larger screen, in general feels like a more quality phone. You can pick up a cheap case (the rubber ones not silicone). The buttons on the front are subject to some wear and tear, should be fine if you don’t torture it
There was a guy from India ,he posted his phone which got under a BUS..screen cracked, buttons not working but voila he could make calls, half of the screen was working with touch...if you talk about build quality X10 indeed is on the strongest phone.
and with 2.3 X10 is as par with arc as i know women don't care about bravia display, exmor r crap and all..!!

Extended battery + one of a kind custom case

Check this out.
I had to buy the 3500 mah battery for my Vibrant. The stock battery would die before noon with minimal use on a stock rom. The only problem with the upgraded battery is that my awesome case I bought off ebay didn't fit anymore. So for the last six months my vibrant has been naked. I could only find one true case for the phone that would fit with the 3500 mah battery installed, and it was hideous.
Mulling over the problem I decided to just make a case for my phone. Nobody else was going to.
So I made one. Well I tried anyway. My idea was to cut one out of wood. I took two days and did the best I could. After the cutting was done and before the staining and finishing I took it to work to see if my buddy could take it home and bring it back with some better routing done on it. He had the tools. I had a dremel and a pocket knife.
He must have taken pity on me because he made this for me complete with a brass power button. I get it tomorrow.
That looks really big and uncomfortable. Lol. Why not just flash a battery saving ROM?

I like my 3500 mah battery and having my phone protected. That's why.
Not bad man. Keep up the good work! I got a 3500 battery with a custom fit TPU case off ebay. Case fits nice, and battery life has tripled. I got the battery and door, and the tpu case for like under $30. Check it out if your wooden awesomeness doesnt work out.

his case has brass buttons on it, sounds great if u ask me
Is this supposed to be a joke? I haven't laughed as hard as I did when I saw that picture in a loooooong time!
You will probably need some shoulder straps so you can lug that thing around on your back.
Seriously though, that is some really sweet work your friend did on the case! I like to see others put their ingenuity to good use!
WTH! You just put a fat suit on a supermodel!
Damn good machine/press work there...A lil big for my tastes, but very well put together.
It's aluminum, so it shouldn't be too heavy. I don't think it's much bigger than an iphone with an Otter box on it. I get it back today. I just hope it doesn't destroy the reception.
All the holes that need to be there are there - mic, jack, usb, camera, speaker, and the buttons are functional.

can you post the link to the battery you got and maybe a pic of your phone in the case?
curious
I'm curious how that metal case with affect signal strength....

I laughed too, by far that is the worst thing I've ever seen. Easy tip for you.. look up fiberglass molds, its so easy to do, so cheap.. same concept you could build a nicelightweight speaker box.. some nice paint and clearcoat an it would look better than stock. I guess with you it is all about function at ANY cost(even I have limits)..
The simplest explanation would be you NEED a non stock rom, or more likely three is something wrong with your stock battery(likely) or hardware(depends what you get out o that brick of a battery)
New battery with a stable rom, underclocked with the most recent kernel to save battery life an you should get 12 hours with really heavy use

Edit: I wanted to modify my opinion, it is creative, may be functional.. but you can make a better finished product that will clip right on cheap and easy for a few Google searches.. my 2¢
Oh, ad if you are at all embrassed about the finished product you should delete the post, I can totally imagine this being featured on engadget or some other website for the unanimous laugh it would bring..
hollly F**K hahahahahah ROFL.... thats a freaking tube tv with a small screen...
That looks so retarded...... lmao my pack of cigarettes looks thinner.
Bro I think the case is awesome. People would buy that! Its got to be almost indestructible except for the screen opening.
I say good job. Forget these guys that say its ugly.
Vibrant+MIUI
Signal is unaffected. It IS big, but I like it. It's just a little bigger than an iPhone with an otter box. Size wise it's 1/4 inch wider and taller than stock, and 0.08 thicker now than it was with the extended battery (0.03 on top and 0.05 on bottom). I can't post pictures because my only camera at this point is my vibrant. It's hard to tell scale by the original picture. It looks bigger than it actually is.
Someone mentioned cost. My friend charged me only for materials - $14
I figured there were going to be haters/critics. There always are. The good thing is that there is only one of these - mine - and as a consequence only one person has to like it; me. And I do.
Minus the screen, which has a protector, the phone is near bullet proof.

Motorola Razr i Manufactoring Defects

So I got a Razr i last week from Meteor Ireland. Really happy with the phone; it's size, materials used, screen, camera, software, performance, battery life etc.
However, I've only recently noticed that the Motorola insignia at the top of the front bezel seems to have some sort of manufactoring defect. Most of the letters appear to be filled in solidly with a grey sort of magnesium looking material, where as the three in the middle, t,o and r, appear to be hollowed out and black. I can put the corner of a piece of paper into these hollows whereas on the other letters they're flush with the rest of the bezel.
Anyone else have this? Annoyed that I might have to return it.
Kkk it's just the speaker hole... By design.

OMG! Thats hilarious!!
Believe me, when I was on my Carrier costumer service center, i thought the same, then my brain started to work and i said: Thats the earspeaker hole lol!
Greetings from Mexico!
Yeah when you really look at it the attention to detail on this phone is quite amazing. There's that speaker grille with the letter cutouts and the radial pattern etched into it. Then there's the same radial pattern etched into the bezel and power button, the buttons made of different materials to tell apart just by touch, bothering to make the kevlar pattern different to the one on the Razr M even though that's just an additional manufacturing cost, bothering to use a better camera sensor than the M, calibrating the screen so well to make the same screen used in the OG Razr look nicer... and other things I can't think of right now.
Overall all when you look at it Motorola but a lot of effort into this device!

Oh boy great phone but they really missed the wireless charging
Do you guys think it will be possible with a little hardware hack?
Wireless charging is expensive and slow
And nearly impossible with that aluminum body
So unless you want to pry that baby apart, drill holes for the wires and wire a inductive coil to the back of the phone. You're sol

And it's still only a bog slow 500mA charge rate which means ~5 hours to charge with the phone powered off, even longer if on!

IMHO, wireless charging is pointless cuss from looking at most wireless charging fones, it has to be on at a certain way. If its not, it won't charge!. Not only that but it doesn't give a fast enough charge & if say I wanted to use my fone as well as charge it... You can't!. Your paying for the novelty imho..
Hmm now I can't rlly decide it. I wanna get a new phone in the summer I had the evo 3d n i have the one X now and really the only problem I have is the slow updates n s-on n multitasking. Hope they done a better job at sense 5 n with the 2gb ram cuz that constant reloading, even the Web pages is annoying. I have cm10.1 now and I open 10-15 pages so I can read some stuff on the subway. Overall it's a gorgeous phone.

Honestly if you have the one x, just move on and get the one. And I say this as an owner of the one x. HTC I believe wants to try and forget about the hox and all its red headed step children with their naming conventions and move on to the one. The hox will be a thing of the past soon. They want a single, unifying phone across all carriers. Not this x, s, v, + crap like before.

Except they still caved for the US carriers and did 4g-gimped versions for each one. But yeah, i know where you're coming from. Have the HOX now and will almost certainly be making the leap.

S-OFF should be doable. Snapdragon phones are miles easier to S-OFF. If they didn't fix the S-OFF exploit from the Droid DNA/One XL, we can expect to have S-OFF at launch. Otherwise, it might take a while.

I'm not convinced this is correct.
If an electric field would normally induce current flow in the charging coil, then why wouldn't it induce current flow in the coil on the battery and produce eddy currents in the Alumnium body that in turn would also induce currents in the charging coil?
just my 2c.
