So right in the middle of an Opera browsing session today, my touchscreen stopped working on my Mogul. It is like my mogul is a MotoQ or something, and it is annoying as hell to use... So then I called Sprint and discovered that my boss canceled the insurance on our group plan last month...!!! So because I bought the mogul on my own, I am sort of on my own.... anyone have any idea how I might fix this????
Any help is much appreciated...
that happened to me once.. it was because Opera crashed my phone (probably from low memory) and a soft reset fixed it

Yer dead up Jarjar, jaz jar or however its pronounced! >&
I'm an XDA2i person and am deliberating if I should go for a Universal or not right now....
in your case I'd say it was time to send it back via the place you bought it from ad get a warranty repair. If you have insurance you may want to give them a call and see what they say about replacing it.
Sounds like a hardware fault (theres nothing really 'mechanical' inside these machines) maybe a dodgy connection or dry solder joint etc. I say this because it 'worked' before and 'now isnt working' which means 'something' has changed.
Another alternative would be to find one of the service centre's for PDA's etc and get them to diagnose and fix the problem...
Hope you can get it sorted!

Thanks Dennis...I bought it at expansys..and i really don't know if they have services like that...i'll try to contact them...bah...!!thanks again
I desparately need help! I finally got fed up missing calls because my MDA Vario wasn't ringing or because it crashed when I tried to answer. I've had a problem for a while, in that after a day or two it will mysteriously stop making any noises. No menu clicks, no voice directions in TomTom, no notification sounds and worst of all, no ringing when a call comes in. The only fixes are to reboot or to go into Sounds & Notifications in Settings, go to the Notifications tab and then change the volume up or down! It's then fine for another day or two.
I finally got fed up and did a hard reset last week, put my data back on through ActiveSync and then reinstalled the following:
Opera
TomTom 5.21
Total Commander
SmartsKey
Omapclock
I set SmartsKey to overclock to 240mhz and used Total Commander to edit the registry and switch on caps indicator, enable the various caches as suggested in in the wiki, and to set GPRS to always on (as I'm on unlimited data). No other changes, no other software. I did install the trial of SPB Mobile Shell, but then removed it because I didn't like it. I'm on the standard T-Mobile firmware, ROM 2.21.2.6 WWE and I've not unlocked it at all.
The phone worked like a dream for a week or so after the hard reset, but now it's started doing the same thing with the sounds again! Furthermore, if I'm using TomTom it doesn't override the power save settings - so it turns off the backlight after 2 minutes and then turns off the phone after 5! It didn't do this before!
PLEASE can anyone help before I throw the thing out of the window and buy a Symbian smartphone!?
Thanks in advance,
Tim
Can nobody help?
Nobody have any ideas? Am I really the only one with this problem!?

Did you thik it maybe hardware not software!!!! Maybe your phones has a fault that comes and goes. I would take it into the shop to see if has a fault!
Can I suggest that you start with the basics. Do a hard reset but reset it before the extended ROM can install. (If you don't have a stock operator ROM installed nows a good time to do it). Don't install any software at all. It might sound a bit boring but it is important to establish if you have a hard ware or software fault.
Now run the fone for a few days and see if the problem returns. If it doesn't start to add your apps one at a time until you find which is the culprit. If it fails to work with the basic stock ROM you most likely have a hardward problem.
Going for repair
Thanks for the replies, all. As the phone is a year old in June and will therefore be out of warranty I spent 45 minutes this lunchtime on the phone to T-Mobile to get it sent for repair! They were fine about it, just deeply inefficient. Anyway, a prepaid bag is on it's way for me to send back. Any ideas if they will try to repair or just swap it out with another one? I imagine a fault like this which might be software or hardware and which only manifests itself after a few days will be more trouble to fix than it's worth? Anyone had any experience of getting one repaired?
Thanks again,
Tim
yeah, I had been p[laying about with roms for a few weeks and after what I think may be water damage or a drunken drop, my screen stopped working.
Take into account it was christmas time but still I received a brand new phone but had the old battery cover haha. They replaced the stylus too. My old phone was battered and screen was scratched so I was totally happy with the 3 week wait.
No questions asked although I did return my rom to exactly the one it came with, i was unable to re cid lock it.
Overall give T-mob time and it seems they replace phones ok
i did take mine into a t-mobile shop so don't know if that makes a difference (time etc) and was not covered by t-mobile insurance but my bank account has free phone insurance as back up
Hope that was of some help

Hi all,
I just got off the phone with HTC, well actually EuroTwice - a company in Belgium that repairs or replaces htc phones. They helped me before - last month actually when my microphone stopped working as it should. Their service is great, my phone was picked up, repaired under warranty and returned after 14 days.
But today disaster struck again. I was at my grandma, sending a nephew a picture of 'our' granny over MSN and all of a sudden the display of my phone went all garbled and the device soft-resetted itself. It rebooted well, but crashed again trying to reconnect to MSN. For good, this time - it won't switch on anymore. Actually, it won't do anything now; no LEDs blinking, no backlights, no USB connection, no charging - no nothing
So I phoned up HTC and they will be picking up the phone tomorrow (GOOD service!). Only this time I won't have a chance to undo all the HardSPL-and-reflashing tricks I performed over the past two weeks. Itje's ROMs are super and stable, but I wonder what EuroTwice is going to say if they find it on my device. "You installed batterystatus to overclock your device, sir!" Think they will mind?
I'll update this post when I know what they'll do. Please bear with me for -yet another- two heraldless months
Cheers!
So I consider myself fairly tech savvy. I'm running dcd's 3.3.4 firmware on a Mogul I bought used on eBay. Suffice it to say that returning it to the eBay company is not an option.
The device will randomly freeze, not awaken from its sleeping state. When it's sleeping, I don't receive missed call notifications or any texts I would have received.
When I do a soft reset, the device doesn't boot most of the time. Most of the time it will freeze on the green Windows 6.1 intro screen, but sometimes before that, and sometimes after that. I haven't come across a scenario that allows me to boot every time, but the one with which I have had most success is removing the battery, waiting 20 seconds, putting it back in, then booting up with the MicroSD card ejected.
I noticed that the wifi on the device doesn't work at all, it never has. I don't know if it's related to the other issues, but it's definitely worth mentioning.
I had the same issues (only worse) BEFORE the dcd rom flash, so I'm certain that the issue is hardware related. Given that this is the case, is there anything I can do? I'm willing to try anything...
I'm on Sprint btw.
I read somewhere that Sprint will do a replacement on a non-insured phone for $55 using their Self Service Solutions: http://www.nextel.com/en/services/service_repair/self_service_solutions.shtml
Can anyone confirm/deny this?
wouldnt hurt to try, worst thing they can say is no. im on sprint myself and i also got my mogul from ebay. I dont have the problems you have been having, mine does freeze every now and then but its few and far inbetween. Have you tried a different rom?
Yes, my HTC Touch Pro arrived today, supposedly because they ran out of Moguls to send out. I'm OK with them upgrading my phone for the measly $55 I was going to pay for the same phone fixed
I'll let you know how it goes, ensuring they really only charge me the $55.
Hope any of you guys can help me on this. Last night my Leo's screen went totally unresponsive.
Could not get past the screen lock. Removed the battery, rebboted ... could not get the PIN code in.
I had seen this already two nights ago, but it got away once I moved in an area where I could get a reasonable signal (ultra-crappy where I am now on vacation).
Now Im'm beginning to think the signal thing was just a coincidence and that the problem is way more serious.
In total despair, I even tried a hard reset. To no avail.
Phone boots up fine. I can even sync to it (so yes, I can get to the registry). But since the only control is the screen ... not really a lot I can do with it.
I need to be in touch for work and I badly need the voice and internet connectivity (right now I'm using the wife's phone ...).
Any ideas besides getting an RMA from HTC?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Update: spoke with HTC support.
It looks like the issue is somehow triggered by the lock screen.
As suggested by HTC, I flashed again the 1.66 ROM upgrade and everything ran smoothly until the phone went in standby the first time.
Then, I was (and still am) unable to unlock the screen. And if I soft reset screen is unresposnsive again.
Right now I can just receive calls (I removed the PIN code from the SIM temporarily).
HTC told me to send it in for repair, but everything in Italy is closed until Aug 23rd and the only option I have is to ship it at my own expense to the UK and back (HTC will collect and deliver free of charge only within the same country).
Total bill some 100+ Euro plus driving 100 KM or so to the nearest courier collection point. A nightmare.
What really troubles me is that the problem surfaces only once the screen locks.
On one hand I follow HTC's support that if flashing 1.66 did not cure the issue, it cannot be software.
On the other hand, if it is indeed hardware, how come it freezes only after the first lock screen? Lock/unlock is a software thing. Screen should behave exactly the same way before or after the lock - shouldn't it?
Anyone here seen/heard of anything like this?
wow, gotta love those "closed for the summer" euro vacations.
If you reinstall the ROM, then why not disable the lockscreen until you can get it fixed?
You can install BSB tweaks and that has an option to disable autolock.
i had the same exact problem; it started freezing only on the lock screen then got worse and started freezing at random times while in use. I finally broke down and sent it in to HTC to check it out. I'm waiting to hear back with there diagnosis and I will pass along whatever they tell me.
Good to know the problem has come up somewhere else (if you're the only one you are most likely to hear it's your fault before they replace the most expensive component in the phone). Where are you located slimster?
How long have you been waiting for? HTC policy should be 7-10 working days from when they receive the phone at the lab (so they told me and I remember reading it somewehere here in xda too).
