Second Time Zone in TF3D - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Is anyone able to write a code that allow to show a second time zone in TF3D home tab?
Another way to have several time zone is to write a code for showing, in the weather tab, the clock of each city?
Many thanks for your kind help!

Very nice Idea, very handy, I totally agree with your thought.
I hope some champion will read this thread.

looking for a simple finger friendly timer

i am looking for a simple countdown timer for my phone that is finger friendly and easy to read. here is what i have found so far (in the same order as the pics below):
SimpTimer by Fann Software
http://www.fannsoftware.com/PpcSoftMain.html
i have been using SimpTimer since i found it on one of those freeware sites, and it works, but since there are multiple timers on screen its already smaller and more confusing at a glance than what i would like.
Pocket PC Timer by JabSystems
http://www.jabsystems.co.uk/products/pocket-pc-timer/
this one has the right idea, but the arrows are kinda hard to hit with my thumb. based on all the empty space, it seems like a simple layout redesign would make this perfect.
deltaTimer by Christoph
http://www.deltadevelopment.de/users/christoph/deltaTimer/
what i am currently using. while moving the hand of the dial to set the timer (like a kitchen timer) is kind of a "fun" touch, i would rather trade it for something like "+" or "-" buttons and a bigger start/stop button.
finally, the 4th picture is just a crappy mock-up of what i would really like. you touch the top or bottom half of the numbers to go up or down, and there is a nice big start/pause and stop/reset button. it would also match many of the HTC themes floating around here.
Many thanks for this compilation, i was looking too for such a thing !
What i need is -freeware- a countdown and a timer... Like the antic StopTime, by Jonathan Sachs...
http://home.comcast.net/~jonsachs/
But, it seems that such a product doesn't exist for WM5...
So, i've installed Simple Timers by Fann Software for the countdown (egg are good with only 3.3 minutes cooking ! ), and SinPocketStopWatch for the counter (by seconds or by 1/100 sec)
But, i'm still looking for a combinated product !
Maybe a future evolution of FannSofware...
I use deltatime it´s very nice, i like the analog timer
to bad
Just notice Deltatimer doesn't work when your phone is sleeping/screen is off
I'm using Fizz Alarms it is alarm, counter and stoppwatch with fingerfriendly interface.. but it's not freeware..
ok, Fizz Alarms looks interesting, I will check it out.
In the meantime, I found this in our very own forums:
TouchWatch by lopez1_de
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367333
It is pretty nice, I am actually going to make a couple requests for some tweaks, but it is pretty close to what I want. I wish I knew how to program, since he even posted the source code.
Thanks alot! SimpleTimer is just the thing i was looking for! :-D
do any of these programs allow u to set a date and time and then it countdowns till that specific event?
like if u put in the date that u were leaving for vacation.. would any of these countdown till that date arrived ...?

Tasks on TF3D home screen?

Hi guys...
Does anyone know if it's possible to add 'Tasks' to the home screen underneath the calendar appointments in TF3D Home Screen? This must be an oversight surely, as for many people (and this device must have a myriad of business users), tasks are just as important as appointments!

C'mon graham, you're a senior member and should be able to use the search function within this forum...
And at least: No so far not possible.

I just remapped the left soft key to open my task list in agenda one and works perfectly for me.
Steve
I did the same and posted how to do so for someone asking the same question on this forum a month back.
IMO, the lack of support on TF3D for the tasks program is one of it's biggest downfalls. I always had that option checked on my today screen, so that I could be constantly annoyed by reminders of bills that are due.
I bet this would be fairly easy for a developer with an understanding of the TF3D interface to tackle..
I'd also like to see this, very handy thing to have.
Is somebody presently working on such an application? searching brings up plenty of threads saying it isn't possible at present but unusually for this forum, no indication that an application is in progress.
It would be great thing... for ex clock could be much smaller and then tasks / appointments under that clock... something like agendatoday, but smaller one...
Thanks guys...
Thanks for the replies. And yes, I know I'm a senior member and I always search before posting, but in this case I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. And judging by other users responses, I'm not alone with this one.
Besides that, I don't buy the "can't be done" response. Whenever someone says something can't be done, they're usually interupted by the person doing it!
I purposely left my reply for a couple of weeks to see if anyone could come up with a solution, but alas, it's seems this one really "can't be done" !!
Deleted sorry wrong forum :S
The way I solved this problem is using SecondToday and TodayAgenda in it. I mapped the left softkeys in both TF3D and SecondToday to switch back and forth (SecondToday does this). This way I have TF3D and a second today screen more "business oriented".
Add Homescreen++ to this and you have a digital clock and a data/call counter.
hope this helps

Confirmation of calendar events/reminders

Hi folks,
searched around this forum (and others) unsuccessfully for hours now, maybe someone knows what i'm looking for.
I don't like the procedure of confirming appointments or tasks provided by WM6 in combination with tf3d.
If you can't confirm the alarm instantly it disappears after a while and the softkey is overruled by tf3d.
As you all know you have to press the top bar and after that the bell in the upcoming screen to bring the reminder in front and if you want to be reminded later you need two more fingertips.
What i am looking for (or what i'm dreaming about) is a fingerfriendly dialog (maybe in a transparent curtain style corresponding to tf3d or so) popping up and staying in front of the screen until it is confirmed, containig the information about the task or appointment, maybe the current time, buttons for confirmation or repeating after a while.
By the way a big thank you to all the developers and contributors, this forum is No.1 and helped me a lot for years now.
Thanks in advance
Me too!
Yeah, I'll second that! Bloody annoying when the pop-up disappears before you get a chance to interact with it. If anyone has a solution to this, I'm all ears
Pop up stays put when using S2U2
Cheers...

Thanks my friend... been using another screen lock app, S2U2 is alot better I have to say - and FREE!
Hmmm....., S2U2,
i followed the developing from on the beginning and used it on my old prophet (at this point a lot of thanks to A_C for this excellent piece of work) but found that the handling of appointments when popping up wasn't as good as the rest of the app.
The appointment comes up (as the native windows dialog, which is, let me say, not very beautyful, also the top bar comes up, cutting of the S2U2 clock) and stays on the S2U2 screen but if you don't recognize it and the device goes into stand-by and you switch it on later the pop-up is gone (at least on the prophet), which is no problem on a classic today screen, but on a tf3d screen the softeys are overruled and you have the "problem" described in my first post.
And as a locking solution you have some other opportunities today, SlideToAnswer and TouchlockPro are fitting my needs better on the diamond.
Also in times of eyecandy i think this dialog is a missing link in the chain of beautyness.
So i'm still in hope that someone has a recommendation, but maybe it's not a problem for the most.

How to add weather locations?

I found a post detailing how to add some weather locations at http://www.avforums.com/forums/htc-mobile-phone-discussions/1081931-htc-hd2-15.html#post10873219

One of the problems that I've read is that of "My Location". After a bit of searching I found a tool that allows you to add more cities to the default list:
Manila 2.1 and 2.5 Weather Editor PPC Edition - xda-developers
Install that application to your phone and then go here AccuWeather.com - US Weather Forecast Search - Local Weather Forecasts
In the "Internation Location" enter the town/city that you live in (I'll use Worcester) and press "GO!".
Click on the relevant link (Worcester, United Kingdom (Worcestershire, England)).
In the URL you'll see loccode=EUR|UK|UK248|Worcester. We're interested in the EUR|UK|UK248|Worcester bit.
Open "Weather City Editor" on the HD2.
Choose "United Kingdom" from the "Country" drop down.
Press "Add City".
Choose (GMT) in "Time Zone".
Type Worcester in "City".
Type EUR|UK|UK248|WORCESTER in "AccuWeatherCode".
Press "Add".
At this point you can either add more cities or exit the application.
Restart your phone.
Now, go to the "Weather" application on the slide menu.
Choose "Menu" > "Add Location".
Start typing Worcester.
When you see it appear in the list, choose it (make sure it's the United Kingdom one :grin.
Press "Update Now".
Slide back to the "Home" screen and press on the clock. You should get to the "World Clock" screen.
Choose the "Worcester" radio button.
Press "Back".
It may take a few minutes for the animations to show up on the "Home" screen.

Now I was going to do this to see if it works, but to install the first app I need to go through the hassle of installing the .net compact framework, which frankly I can't be bothered to do. I did try searching through the windows directory for the xml file and found "Weather_Pages.xml" but I don't think it relates in any way to add city codes in it.
Does anyone have any idea which xml file I have to find and edit to add more location codes?
Thanks
Installing .NET framework probably takes less time than writing this post.
You have a solution - yet you choose not to use it because you're too lazy to install something that's needed anyway? Sorry, I can not understand your reasoning.
And it works very well too
AND... the author says you probably only need .Net 2.0 which is already on your phone.
Many thanks for this. Works a treat on my HD2. My Location never really worked for me in the small town I live in. This has provided a better solution. Cheers! mate.
why cant this crappy weather "my location" not just use google maps or just my f*cking GPS? Google maps finds my exact location in a sec even if I'm inside (almost everytime) and my GPS function works splendid, but the "my location" always shows some ****ty town 10 kilometres away. Its f*cking annoying. Sorry for the swearing but the h*ll were the developers thinking?????
"Okay, lets see, lets make a weather app!! yeah, good idea, lets also put in a GPS, but we should definitely not combine the two"
OMFG - I love my HTC but this app is making me dizzy, gonna disable it using duttys
I have been able to add my location and when I go to weather, it updates fine and shows the current weather. Right now it is cloudy. However, on the homepage under the clock, it keeps showing rain no matter what. The temp seems the same but the weather that is showing is not the accurate. How can I fix this?

Make sure the clock is not set to My Location, but to the same city as the weather tab.
Add locations
Been Playing with my new HD2 over the weekend and the my location works perfectly in a regional town in Australia but I can't manually add the towns into the weather tab to monior weather in nearby regional centres. The add loations only has major cities but the my location successfully finds all towns I have visited so far which arent avalable to be added as locations and returned the correct weather settings. If the my location is able to retrieve the weather there must be a way to get one of these towns permenantly added to my locations list so I can check the weather in other parts of the country outside capital cities.
My first post on this forum is a big thank you!!.
I'm very shallow and wanted the weather working or it was going back and I was going to get an iPhone instead.
Weather is now working for my town
How do I get it to display the days and weather description instead of IDS_Home_State_0 etc?
Thanks
My second post is I must learn to tell the difference between the / in a URL and the | that the instructions gave
All fixed, even happier now!
I'm sure I must appear really dumb here but where on the HD2 do I go to add my city?
Hi,
can anyone please give me a brief feedback if this tool works with the latest official rom release 1.66? Maybe he/she can even tell me his/her exp with a german device because I read alot about problems regarding sence & manila crashes in a german pocket pc forum (don't know if it is allowed to post the adress here, anyone may get it per PM). And I would appreciate to miss another hard reset
Thanks in advance!
Lars
Uhoh,
I used this app and first time it worked fine.
Second time, I've now lost the whole home screen and all options.
All I have is the start menu and icons across the top and the phone/contacts buttons at the bottom.
I assume this is because the editor disables touch flo 3d and htc sense when it starts and hasn't re-enabled them. Anyone point me in the right direction as to how to turn them back on?
Ta!
Sorted: Just had to go to the today settings and re-enable htc sense.
You have to turn Sence back on in....
Settings > Home > Items and put an X in the HTC Sence box
http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/editor/separator.gif
I've only just managed to actually find the right city codes for this!
I think the linked page has changed a bit and all the search boxes now operate by post code.
You actually have to switch to the international page and search on there rather than searching in any of the boxes.
Alternatively, just go straight to www .accuweather.com/world-index.asp
Thanks mate, I will try this program. I've been looking for a solution for this for a long time.

How to disable appointment on lock screen

I have the T-mobile USA HD2. How do I disable the calendar appointment from appearing on the startup lock screen? I use a password used to unlock.

Excellent question...I've been searching for that also.
Kill 2 birds with one stone!
You could install Co0kie's Home Tab 1.6.1 together with his CHTEditor which should allow for the configuration you require via the multitude of Appointment options.
It's probably a must have cab at any rate, and you'll be killing 2 birds with one stone!
You won't be dissappointed.
you can delete the appointment layer in the lock screen file.

Hi. I quite agree with your praising of CHT and CHTE, but I can't find the option to not show the next appointment on lock screen. Are you sure you don't mean the option in CHTE to hide appointments on the on home screen ("Show appointments")? Or am I looking in the wrong place?
Yep, i had thought the 'hide appointments' would do it for you.
It seems samsamuel post above might be what you are looking for.
OK. I guess cookies home tab does just what the name says, edit the tabs on home screen. Will see if I take a closer look on that editing tool for the lock screen. Just seems a little more work and risk of screwing things up. But then again it might be pretty simple once you go through it
its only a simple file that you are editing. if you can read xml/html them just open the file in notepad and erase everything between the appointment tags.
just keep a copy of thee original and if it doesn't work just change it back. no danger.
OK. I might give it a try. It sounds far fetched but do you have an opinion on weather it's something in this file that can be editet to get the notifications options to pause or dismiss (back) on lock screen. A bit more explanation her http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=660813

Thanks for the advice. I was able to delete the appointment from the lock screen with Chome Visual Editor.
