I have a Sprint Touch Diamond. When I install Real VGA (v1.1) and the 96 dpi res pack, my phone dialer is disabled. This is before I even run the program. All I have to do is install it.
The phone is still working, because calls still come in. I can only make a call by selecting someone from the call history. the Dial pad will not come up at all.
any suggestions on how to keep it installed, and have the dialer working?
thanks
have the same problem with bepe or diamon project3.3 !
after installation i lost sms and dialer skin.
on my eten x800 its perfect.

I am not sure what Real VGA is, but you might want to comment in an associated thread or provide a link. However, I did notice that you said you installed a 96 dpi pack. What is this? For a VGA device, it should be 192dpi.
Ok, I see what it is suppoed to do I guess. Not sure why you are downgrading to QvGA though. Again, probably good to post in the associated thread.

Real VGA, lets you get rid of Microsoft's Pixel doubling in windows mobile. You can squeeze things down and see more on your screen at once. I'm primarily using it to get one non-vga compatible program to work. It does the job, but I lose my dialer.

Okay, I would like to acknowledge that this is primarily my fault because I was both lazy and stupid.
1. I downloaded the Etenskin+ smartdialer that is floating around here, as well as the landscape skin and installed them. They show up in my remove programs as Geo77... I definitely prefer it to the stock dialer but did not love the color so I...
2. downloaded the Vista Black skin from this website http://www.paulya.com/etenskins.htm
From my understanding this skin worked with smartdialer. I followed the instructions, unzipped the files and copied them into my windows directory. As I clicked okay to replae the existing files, I thought, "How will I get these off if I dont like them?" but it was too late
Well the skin doesn't quite work, there is sort of a blue shadow, almost like a double image and I like it but don;t love it, so now I want to remove it. Of course, I do not have a copy of the original files.
Any suggestions?!
just go to settings, remove programs, and uninstall the dialer. assuming you install using active sync or cab file

Thanks Weezy! I was kind of afraid to do that since I didn't know what would be left. Worked like a charm, uninstalled and then re-installed and I am back to step one.
The search for the perfect dialer skin continues!
I also tried that smartdialer with eten dialer and hated it. i hate the smartdial crap. so i just uploaded the vista eten dialer and it worked perfectly, except for when its in landscape mode. it screwed it up so i had to install it again. but no biggie. i see no purpose of using the phone in landscape mode.

I agree with you on the landscape mode. I threw it on since I have the room in memory.
I don't hate the smartdialer though, and I definitely prefer the etenskin to the standard dialer when I do need to use the keypad. I usually use voice command to dial a number that is not in my contacts, but for things like entering an account # or making a choice on a IVR, it is nice to have larger buttons.
I think there is a way you can get the etenskin and disable the smart dialer. Check out the website in my previous post in this thread.

Wait, I thought Black Glass was the only one you could get from E-Ten that supports SmartDial. So you're saying that others on the page (Black Vista) support it?
Torx's iphone theme is excellent on my Touch (Vogue) except for the dialer. I tried switching from Narg to the other iphone-ish dialpads but they all lock up my Touch when switching from Keypad to Status. I also tried Polen's Vista Dialer but it does not work correctly with your theme. The Stock dialpad is miscolored and the Back button is invisible...aaargh! THERE MUST BE A DIALER THAT WONT LOCK UP MY TOUCH!!!!
Torx has responded:
if someone can get me an official cab of a wm6 dialpad that works flawlessly as far as smartdial and all that jazz..
i can take it all apart and redesign the graphics myself and not have to worry about tinkering the real innards to get features working because thats well out of my scope.
problem is, there so many 3rd party dialers out there and i have no clue which generalized dialpad i can use to base the design off of.. get what im saying?
so it has to be a dialpad .cab that isnt the original wm6 dialpad, but one that EVERYONE can use no matter what phone or brand, cdma or gsm.. etc etc..
Torx has done a tremendous job, and please, Anyone help with this last piece!!
come on guys! someone has to have an official cab...please
most dialpads ive tried so far, the smartdialing doesnt work.

you might want to ask one of the cooks... they might be able to extract the dialpad out from a rom... i think dutty or alex in the kaiser forums might know how to do this. (not trying to call anyone out lol) i just think that it would be awesome if we could get a really cool dialer with all the functions... (including OPTIONAL video) and transparent buttons so that the background can be chosen by the user... its not impossible im sure
Like I said before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321605
The iphone version of DuronMarcel works (smartdial).
If it had the graphics of the other version (narg), it would be perfect.
(sorry my bad english)
can you place the cab for DuronMarcel's? does it work with the Vogue? i tried one before that locked up my Vogue...
I tried the duron marcel dial pad with BA. it doesnt work...
I don't think there is a dialpad can work perfectly with both GSM and CDMA without any loss of functionality.
Most "dialers" that work with cdma phones i have seen are really just skins rather than a true new dialer. Your best bet for creating a iPhone "dialer" for htc cdma phones would be a dialer skin with the format similar to this skin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315685
with the digits spanning the width of the screen and two additional digits on top of the right row.
Of course, I really hope I am wrong, because this arrangement doesn't allow much flexibility.
anyone, please post the official cab for Torx to work on....thanksa!

This dialer does not work on the Touch (Vogue) from what I have read.
Please let me know if anyone has info that it will work on the Touch (Vogue).
Can anyone create some VGA skins for Phonepad to make it look more Diamondish ?
Here is the cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1906769&postcount=160
This is already a VGA version but does not look too nice.
Or can anyone tell me how do it myself ?
I think it works WAY better than the input methods provided by HTC.
what about this dialer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2365614&postcount=16
works for the Diamond.
there is a way to lock it without having probems with refused/answered calls in your pouch/pocket:

Thanks for the link but I am ok with the dialer itself. I only need the phonepad.cab for writing SMS. I HIGHLY recommend it. It's so much faster.
I just posted a blog entry about my experience with RealVGA and 320x320 mode on the Treo Pro. Check it out at: http://nebowiki.blogspot.com/2008/11/treo-pro-320x320-love.html
I am curious about the experience of others?
Screenshots? Anyone?
I will try and put some screenshots together tomorrow. I have been running RealVGA at 96dpi for nearly a month now and have *never* switched back to 128dpi since installing it. The only faults I notice are the lack of icons for SMS messages in the threaded view and the compacted battery icon - neither of which bother me significantly. frankly, I think the rom should run at this reolution as stock - and as soon as we can cook up a rom I will strip out of it all the 128dpi stuff!
John
I'm running it for weeks now, really like it. The fonts may be too small for some, but I certainly appreciate it.
A few weeks on RealVGA for me too. Never need to change from 96dpi back to 128dpi. In fact 96dpi full 320x320 allows me to easily run apps that have problem with 240x240 mode.
Real VGA here as well. The Best. I wont go back.
Could anyone post any piccys of their pros running the 96dpi?
Thanks
Some screenshots
Hi folks,
A couple of screenshots of 96dpi on a Treo Pro just to show you what it looks like. If anyone wants a particular view showing, just ask.
John
Thanks John
I guess i have to be a problem child. its not working so well for me. a lot of things are messed up, images, background, phone dialer, etc. not so great on my end.

Using 96dpi, it's needed to get Olivetree's Biblereader to display icons on the taskbars correctly, along with some of the fonts.
Also needed @ 96dpi for Mobile Shell 2.1 or 2.11 to use the Omnia or Experia themes (found in the square screen themes thread at ppcgeeks.com). They go offscreen otherwise.
Yes, fonts in some places begin to become uncomfortably small. But, in most instances, it's not a problem. However button placement display gets off center with comm manager, especially the data connection on/off setting.
You can of course slide the font size a notch up, that will make most text a bit larger while keeping the 320 resolution. Not perfect, but perhaps for some a better compromise?

I've been running the RealVGa at 96dpi for a week. I've noticed that the icon for the threaded sms is missing. I can only see a "x" at the icon location. Is anyone able to share some view how i can change the icon back to normal?
Also another thing that i notice for is the view of the dialer is a bit shorter than the screen. Therefore, you can see a line of the background when you on the dialer.
Another weird things that i notice when running RealVga is that, when u dialed an unknown number, after the call, a notice will pop up and ask you whether you want to save the no. You will NOT be able to save the no. from there. Have tried that many times and gave up
Have hard reset and use back the original config. Evertthing went back normal. But just TOO BIG. I just wish that the original config will come with an option for us to choose between 128 and 96 dpi. .... 96 dpi still the best view for my treo pro
I use RealVGA with lot of pleasure on my Treo Pro, here
For now, i would like only replace the icon in the threaded sms, like i did for the battery icon. Maybe in the windows folder ...

I guess not but i'm not a specialist. All my tips came from xda

Works fine on my Pro, except it's very small & my eyes aren't that young, anymore. Because of that, I installed CMKeyboard & a couple of htctoucher's skins from right here on xda.
If you're having issues with RealVGA, are you using the latest version by Ebag333? It can be found here: http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=170002 on TreoCentral. If you're using an earlier version, change to 128dpi before doing anything else, so that you're at "normal" resolution. The newer version uses Mortscript & it's suggested to install after a hard reset.

Yes it's a good solution. I personaly install RESCO KEYBOARD PRO that has a Big Button skin and work really great.

I'll have to look at Resco Keyboard. I like other products by them (file manager & registry tool).
AFAIK, some of the versions between 2.1 & 2.14 are OK with 96dpi.
Does anyone know how i can remove the touch it blackstone dialer as it is a bit laggy for me? When i try windows tells me it cannot be completely removed.
AFAIK only hardreset will help. Did it twice, now I know how to re-setup my device in few moments. Also I keep all CABs I use on card.
One of the reasons I don't use TF3D anymore is it has tons (1600) files in windows folder which slows down a lot of things. I just don't this kind of mess on my device (WM alone are enough mess).

You are talking about different things here, the dialer does not mean TF3D.
I deinstalled the Blackstone Dialer via Activesync, but I never tried it from inside the phone so I can't tell if there were problems with deinstalling.
Just reinstall the original Xperia Dialpad (dialer)
The cab is here
cab provided deletes HTC's "incoming call" menu previously installed!
The cab installs the Xperia dialpad, that's true, but by completely removing the HTC GUI for incoming calls as well!
To accomplish this, I could also uninstall the HTC gui, I would not need your cab for that!
Is there any way to have both
1. the Xperia dialer
2. a graphical GUI for the incoming call (incl. photo etc.)
This seems surprisingly difficult!
There is an easy way...
... to have
1. a graphical incoming call window including caller photo id
2. the original dial/pin/... keypad of the Xperia
Just install S2U2 (slide2unlock) freeware, you can disable the locking feature and just use its caller id feature!
It works just well, and you can forget about all this additional HTCphone stuff (which of course you should uninstall this way...)!

Not true. S2U2 is even more laggy than the HTC slide to answer thing.
I suggest sticking to the Blackstone dialer, it's the fastest I ever used.
The dial/pin/keypad is only a skin, performance will not improve if you have the Xperia dialer with slide to answer.
