Anyone know of a good program like JetWare Mobile that works with WM6.1? I know WM6.1 has these enhanced BT handsfree features built in, but I liked the customizability that JetWare had. Thanks in anticipation of your helpful replies!
No one knows of anything??? Is there anyone willing to create something like this?

This is just my speculation as I used to use Jetware as well, but with WM6.x and with Navteq offering updates to their car Nav software thru dealers (most used by car makers, Acura/Honda included), the Handsfreelink over Bluetooth is really supported by additional software enhancements by the Nav software now; at least, that seems to be the case with a lot of them.
That might not help for Acura 04 owners, but have you looked into updating your Nav software thru the dealership?
I am able to upload my entire contacts through the car's Nav system and it allows me to sort, search, display, and informs me of who is calling. That pretty much replaced any need for Jetware.
Hope that helps.

After having my imate out of commission for awhile I was disappointed to see that the TodayPlus author folded altogether. Sadly, that was the one App that really defined my day to day use of my i-mate.
So the question is, does anyone know of a similar app or combination of apps that provided as much as that one plug-in?
I use WeatherPanel and also PocketWeather, both on the today screen. I also used Dashboard but I found it wasn't as flexible and STILL doesn't seem to support Phone Edition notifications etc. I did try the T+ and I thought it was great, though because of the problems with having to change date etc to get it working I deemed it more hassle than it was worth.
I would LOVE for someone to find a similar program or better yet, develop it. I can program in quite a few languages myself but I could never get emBedded C++ to work on my machine properly. Bah!!

IS there much difference in performance running 5.2 instead of 5.1 on the Universal?
Is there any difference at all?
This new version has the following new features and improvements:
Improved phone functionality for your device.
TomTom NAVIGATOR is now compatible with Microsoft Windows™ MOBILE 5.0 devices.

Thanks. But TT 5.1 works fine on my EXEC without any problems already. I was wondering if there is an actual difference in experience? Because I dont want to fix what aint broken unless there are new features or a performance improvement, etc...
So has anyone with the 5.2 update installed experienced any significant improvement please??

Just tried the cracked one, and I can't see a difference against 5.1. The screen still draws visibly slowly and the UI is still as limiting and unsophisticated as ever.
I can't see any benefit in upgrading if TT is working already for you.
Looks like TomTom will be waiting a while longer to get my upgrade fee. I'm happy to upgrade legitimately from my legitimate v3, but I don't consider it to be a viable option at the moment. TomTom seem to have lost their way on PocketPC software since they are apparently unifying the software to match their TomTomGO platform. Sadly that leaves those of us with sophisticated multi-purpose devices wondering why we can't have the flexibility of version 3, in which we could keep the Windows Taskbar on the screen and actually use the damn operating system at the same time!
Not good, TomTom. Not good at all.
Thanks SiliconS.
You have no choice but to wait for the upgrade as I can't find any link to do this on their web site. Does anyone know of any other way of upgrading?
I have version 3 & I refuse to buy version 5 other than through an upgrade.
Mike
I have paid for the upgrade, but the cracked version saves having to mess around with their annoying registration system.
I find the UI clean and elegant. It allows you to quickly do what you need, without fuss. It also makes switching from other TomTom's (Go etc) easy. I find version 5 far better than 3. The maps are much improved too and include all of Europe. Easily worth the upgrade price.
(The screen update is slow in landscape mode, but fine in Portrait.)
i got this (on the wizard) and i still get the same backlight turning off when running it problem. and the hex edit doesnt work with this exe (well not the same values anyway)
thefunkygibbon, you need to hex edit the exe and find the 4 instances of backlight and change them to bbcklight.
Works great on wm5.
hack done
Tomtom 5.2 with hexa change
I have noticed no difference in operation over 5.1
The only change I can see is that it installs via active sink (sic) and ignores the instruction to install to the SD card by placing the application in RAM
not working correctly
this works for me but cant get any voices to work (i put them on the storgae card from original disk)
it will not find my gps either any ideas

Yea, those bozos at TomTom excelled themselves again, didn't they?
http://www.howardforums.com/showpost.php?p=6309013&postcount=9
Apart from what was said on Howard Forums, which I agree with (clueless TomTom devs!), the update seems to add the ability to install without having to copy the CABS onto the phone.
Apart from that, no difference. If you start it up in landscape mode, it'll run in portrait mode.
One other hint that TomTom are clueless idiots - the compatibility list shows the Jasjar and the MDA Pro as being compatible. However, when I requested an activation code from them they insisted the M5000 was not compatible. They wouldn't accept that the M5000 and the XDA Exec were the same hardware and base image!
In tomtom V5.21 better bluetooth management and u can install directly by activesync with WM2005. For the voices you must to install with the original disk and then you can choise the voices otherwise copy tomtom directory contain the voices in "my documents"

Precisely. Activesync install was the one obvious thing they had to fix, and they cocked it up. Funny how every other WM5 developer in the world seems to manage it.

Precisely. Broken landscape mode. No support for soft buttons. So what's this magical support for WM5? Everything works the same (or doesn't) as in 5.1.

Clealry, TomTom employees are a complete bozos, and their management couldn't give a sh*t because they've got your money. No wonder people are so keen to rip them off.

Yes, but the morons f*cked up the code so it won't install to the Storage Card. One CAB doesn't ask, the 2nd CAB asks but ignores your answer. So unless you move everything by hand with File Explorer, that's 3MB of your precious main memory wasted. Don't forget it's your money that's paying them to write that crap.
tomtom xda exec
i cant get voices to work or my bt gps helpppppppppppp ,ripping my hair out ive tried all the socalled fixes but no goooood any help would be really great thx
hi! before my tytn i had nokia smartphone and i had program for bluetooth remote control. (control freak) now i have tytn, but i can't find good program. i need program, that controls winamp quickly and smooth. there are many winamp plugins, but they are very, very buggy and connects 1 per million. my old control freak connects for 2 seconds, the connection in strong and it had desktop control (the desktop screen appeared on my nokia)
so please i need such a program for partys and for comfort.
10x, very much!
I'm looking for something similar...
(on my Nokia, I was using Puppetmaster; but while there are .jar and ppc clients, I can't get them to work)
Jörg
I'll publish a BIG roundup on all these questions very soon (as did I with "full" remote control solutions - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1092389 ) - stay tuned
Oh my, i loved control freak. It's an excellent prog with sexy GUIs. right now i'm using RemoteAmp for my PPC, not bad but it runs over wifi. Or you could run it over EDGE/GPRS/3G. Overall it's great, it GUI isn't that sexy, but it's workable.
Puppetmaster allowed one to control different programs (WinAmp, Zoom Player, Media Player, Powerpoint, Acrobat, ...) and allowed one to add scripts to get support for other non-natively supported softwares.
I'm currently actually still using my old Nokia as a remote (I kept it as a backup device)...
Jörg
PuppetMaster is great ("fantastic" is the word ), but I wish the developer would continue the development...
Perhaps this is an option:

Anybody found a good application that works well as a bluetooth remote control for Windows Media Player or winamp or divx?
I use Salling Clicker, it does pretty much all you ask but unfortunately it's not free.

Jaylee1024,
Up till now, I haven't been able to test your software, as I'm using a Widcomm stack on my PC's...
I'm about to reinstall my system, and before installing Widcomm, I'll give your software a test (given the bluetooth features I use, the MS stack may suffice for me).
But I have found a software (Altiris SVS) that might be used to allow switching between both bluetooth stacks, so I'll also see if/how that goes...
Jörg
I use PPC tablet. It is not that good looking but easy to use. You have different profiles for different programms and you can make your own profile realy easy.

Thanks VJ, I've had reports that some latest version of the Widcomm stack might do the trick, but if you could keep me posted on your tests, I'd be interested too
Thanks !

I second this. I've used it on my 7610, 6682 and now my 8525. It's fantastic. Plus you can control with either bluetooth or wifi

Apparently, that utility can't really be used to swap bluetooth stacks. But I now have the weird situation where both WidComm and MS Bluetooth stack are active at the same time . I'm not sure what this is doing to the stability of my system though , or if both effectively work, so I'll need to test some things first.

Hi again,
I have in stalled the latest Salling CLicker 3.0.1.347, but when prompted to setup my device i am unsure which to choose. The choices are:- http://www.salling.com/Clicker/windows/devices.php
I have tried WM5/Smartphone and a few Dopod ones (I have a Dopod 838Pro) and when I open Salling Clicker on the phone i get "Fatal Error Service Unavailable most likely cause is incompatible device or faulty installation".
Has anybody successfully set it up?
Cheers, hawsktf
Handset requires rebooting after installing Salling Clicker... It's all good
Also, don't forget to check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294524 - it's the long-promised roundup.
Does anybody out there have, or know where to find some Salling Clicker scripts for Hermes?
Hi
Does there exist something like http://www.mulliner.org/bluetooth/xkbdbthid.php for Windows Mobile?
The Windows Remote Desktop client for the Nokia 770 (lovely 800x480 screen!) requires use of an external BT keyboard, and since I already carry my HTC Hermes with me, and the Nokia depends on it for GPRS Internet access, it makes sense to use /it/ as the keyboard. Is this possible?
Google has only turned up physical folding keyboards, or replacements for MS's own on-screen keyboard (for use in WM only)
Cheers,
Gavin.
push!
I'm searching for exactly the same thing, does anybody know something like this?
regards
for now this is the solution which is the closest by far:
anyRemote
otherwise tuxmobil.org has some programs listed, but nothing really compareable to xkbd-bthid. sadly.
Any luck for this software?
I am coming from SE K800i which included a wonderful bluetooth HID remote control that was so much customizible... and having something similar on a WinMo (SE X1) will be great...
it looks like MobileRemote from mobilesrc
Good day,
I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on which ROM would be best for my XP now it is no longer needed as a phone. I would like to use it as my car GPS.
I am going to use Sygic as my Navigation app (unless someone has a better suggestion), so the maps are stored and available offline. I will need the SIM to be active for traffic updates. That is about it.. I won't use if for anything else, so something as fast and responsive as possible...
Thanks in advance,
Steve
