[tomtom] problem with poi icon - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

hi
i have installed tomtom 7 on my diamond and i have one problem.
Probably because of diamond's screen resolution(640x480) during navigation poi icon are too small....there is any way for fix it?can I just resize poi icon?

I have got the same problem, during driving you can't see the small icon properly, but secondly I am using the voices as well, so rather than just the beeping sound my camera database tells me what speed camera is ahead, so this solves the issue even better.
According to your advice I did try to edit and even created a new image of 32x32, 64x64, & 128x128, but none of that work, it just start to show a blank RED icon rather than "30" written on it, so I revert it back.
Regards
Sid

yes im using voices as well, but with ipod conected to the car's hifi its hard to hear anything else
I guess this problem should appear on every diamond, but around i havnt found any discussion about it.......
So,its a common bug or just for few lucky diamonder??

I have the same problem, the icons is too little
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432178

Icons gone !
I have no icons on a Western Europe map V725.1905
But i do have them on an Benelux Map V725.1883.
I don't know whats going on, i use TT7 V7.451 (9033).
Also my WE map loads and is very slow and Benelux is very quick.
Check it out, maybe i'm the only one.

Sorry guys one more clarification, are you using QVGA Tomtom version?
As I was using the QVGA version of "7.40.9028", but now I am using VGA "7.451.9033".
VGA has got normal resolution as in the QVGA everything was TINY.
Basically it is just one EXE file to overwrite the existing QVGA exe in the device, I don't know if the moderator will allow this, otherwise I could upload that.
Regards
Sid

I'm using the VGA Black 7.451.9033 on HTC Diamond, but the radar icons, poi, ecc. are too small and remain too small even by increasing the zoom

Like me!!!
My solution: I edit TomTom.exe to run it at low resolution mode. You'll see all menus fine... and the map and navigation screen at normal size (normal as QVGA equipment).
I spoke with TomTom's service and nobody has solution, while I can use TT7 at car and easily I can see the radar warnings.

From Xda developer tread...i don't remember where......:
I must say when I first got my Diamond it was TomTom that I was looking forward to putting on there for the real VGA 'experience' and at first glance I was very impressed... but then I started using it for navigation and, not least given I use it in 2D mode, soon found that everything was a tad too small! I wasn't so fussed about the POIs but it was the map scale overall - at arms length I could hardly see the map detail and really didn't need to see for 10 miles around - it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't zoom out so much.
So, here's how I sort of fixed it.... a kind of workaround which disables TomTom's awareness of it being VGA. The upshot of this is that everything becomes a reasonable scale however the drawback is that it's a waste of VGA and at first glance you might think 'oh my God that's awful - so blocky!' but I soon found that when actually using it in my car I really don't now notice. The blockiness is down to running at a non-native resolution - like all fixed-pixel screens you end up with unclean lines.
Grab yourself a copy of the freeware resource PC tool Resource Hacker, make a copy of the TomTom Navigator.exe file on the PPC, and open it up with the tool.
Now find the resource CEUX\HI_RES_AWARE\2057, right-click it and delete it. It will likely take the whole branch with it if it is the only entry in there. Now save the resulting file (I got an error at this point - dunno if it's Vista or what but it still seemed to work) and copy the file back to the PPC (note it makes a backup so make sure you get the right one!) - you might want to call it something different so you can then have a choice of VGA or non-VGA TomTom's to run.
And that's it... I'm sure when you first see it in action you'll think it's horrible... but in use I think it is fine and indeed for me makes it at least usable once more.

Lucausee i have use your solution, in effect solve the problem, tnx.

Excelent fix, well done and thanks.

SE_VGA/OzVGA on WM5/Universal?

Real VGA mode is something I really miss from my HX4700 and WM2003SE.
Does anyone know if the guys that made these apps are working on versions for WM5?
Any way to hack the OS directly in the mean time?
The universal is already VGA - why would you run real_vga on it?
I know the Universal as VGA. So is the HX4700.
I take it you've never seen SE_VGA real VGA mode on a VGA pocket PC device before then?
It stops the pixel doubling of images in IE and makes the scroll bars/task bar much smaller.
Some people hate it as they think it makes text etc. too small. Personally, I have 20:20 vision and love the extra destop real estate it gives.
se_vga rocks on the HX, most definately a must have on a VGA... I wouldn't bother with a VGA device without it, the extra money on the outlay is only really worth it if you get the extra space. Sure the standard VGA looks a little slicker, but se_vga makes use of the vga fully... I was hoping WM5 would support real VGA, I guess that answer is no then?
Correct.
WM5's VGA support is pretty much the same as WM2003SE's. Everything looks nice but is all the same size as it would be on a QVGA screen.
sadly I have never owned a VGA PPC device
I tried a program to make my QVGA device VGA but it did something funky to my device so I removed it. This was back in WM2003 days with an iPaq 3870.

Sadly I need GSM850
Here's a thread on everything VGA.
Good link. Thanks.
I now understand why my icons aren't displaying. Looks like I need some files from a QVGA version of WM5.

I've installed this and took it away after a while. I would like to share my thoughts on product such as OzVGA.
Yes, the text is way way too small for me . I personally could not read them. The main application that I could use smaller icons and letters are internet pages. but I find that the default is already capable of displaying at a size that my eye would find too tiny. Therefore the need to make it even smaller is not there, for me.
Not only that, after installing it I had other problems including:
- My soft keyboard disappeared all together. Some other buttons within applications also have vanished. This is a serious problem. (don't know why and not techincal enough to solve the problem)
- Many icons disappeared.
- Some icons are bigger than the others
- Many applications now occupies only 1/4 of the screen, leaving 3/4 of blank space that could not be used for any other purpose whatsoever. For example, my co-pilot live vehicle navigation system now just sits in top left corner, making the screen look real ugly. Many other applications out there might be able to occupy the entire space but many won't. My music player is also another example that shrunk to 1/4 its nice original size leaving 3/4 unuseable blank space.
Although it is possible to revert to and from the original resolution, it requires soft resets. I like to have many applications open simultaneously. Internet, music, word, mail, msn chat, etc. I want some of them to use the real estate in a better way, but many I don't. It's unfortunate that I can't mix them (or perhaps there is a way that I don't know).
Would be nice if the above problems could be thoroughly thought through and resolved,

I would like to give an update to this.
Instead of using ozVGA, which carries the above problem that I was not able to solve, I tried out another product called MvRTVGA. There seems to be quite a lot of improvement with the later product. No missing icons. Only a few minor annoyance due to bigger icons remaining. Almost all application (the only exception being my copilot pocket PC version 5) covers the entire screen rather than just 1/4 of it.
Overall, the balance of equation changes for me. The true VGA, without the problems that I initially experienced, does make the unit display a lot more attractive, and now I'm a convert.
What is Mvrtvga? Did a search on google and couldnt find anything

O2 XDA Exec - One Very Simple Owner. A Few queries...

Morning All
Have just discovered this website, and frankly it terrifies me.
I have been wallowing in shame since purchasing the Exec because I have no idea what I can do to improve it. I have been trying to read as many posts as possible, but even though some posts are written so "my wife could understand it...", it is still a little complex for me.
A few things I would like to do:
Get rid of the delay on flipping from Landscape to Portrait.
Get rid of the awful buttons down the left hand side and the gap at the bottom of the Landscape screen so I can actually utilise the full screen.
Get SBP Diary working propoerly when the screen flips (never seems to fit)
Make WMP 10 to swow my movies in full screen rather than postage stamp size.
I am a man of very simple tastes. I want to watch a movie or play Tiger Woods on the train on the way to work.
I want to run WeatherPanel (Marsware) without it crashing and requiring a soft reset every so often. I would also ike it to operate full screen.
I want to keep a note of my battery performance and some international time zones.
On my XDA 2 I used to run:
Battery Pack
Journal Bar
Neither seem to work on the Exec without sucking all the memory out of it.
I run Town Compass Bartender Drinks and Pocket Stars. I run A-Z viewer and Pocket Streets. All of these are from my memory Card (1GB)
I rarely use the internet, but like to check a few scores, especially when abroad - can this be sped up?
From all the above, you will see that I am quite a simpleton - amongst other things - but am I beyond saving?
I was sent the latest ROM upgrade by O2. Should I do it? Will it help, or is there another upgrade that will stop my moaning?
Oh, lastly, I understand very little jargon and need everything spelled out as if to a 3 year old (with little PPC experience)
Please , please help. If for no other reason than it is Friday and that makes you happy.
Kindest regards
Rich

Use pocket dvd studio or virtual dub to resize your video to 640x480 to get fullscreen
I found the best 2 suggestions for my XDA picked up here were:
Hard-reset and select the corporate install and leave out some of the slow O2 customisation.
Make sure no today plugin is calculating & displaying the space on the SD card - this can cause significant delays the switch between portrait/landscape .
I did upgrade the rom (same as a hard-reset but can be a bit more nerve wracking for some). I think some had problems as the document mentions turning the phone back on but did not say turn it off first. I turned phone/bluetooth/wireless off before upgrading an it went smoothly.
When I upgraded I noted all the actions in Notepad, with serial numbers and registry edits etc. Found this usefull when the OZvga stuff screwed up and I had to hard-reset again!
Steve
Brilliant - Now have internet probs though - any idea why??
Thanks Stevie
Have managed to do this whilst at work and even though I have had limited time to play with it, it has improved a thousand fold.
Beggars the question why they bother to fill the system with all that rubbish in the first place.
Only problem is now I seem unable to connect to the internet. Admittedly this may have something to do with my work PC, but it is saying that GPRS 3G wont connect either.
Do you have any suggestions??
Whiggy - will get this and am sure to be overflowing with gratitude over the weekend
Have a grear weekend all.
Rich
I think the settings for o2 are in the customised stuff but check back through the threads as the question has been asked a few times on the correct settings - one of the other members guided me through the MMS settings. I think there may be a cab file as well with just the o2 connection settings on it.
Search for 02 connection setting or something like that.
Steve
I too had the same problem with Internet Explorer when i installed my Exec in Corporate Mode. I found this cab file somewhere on the Forum, can't remember or find where so have re-attached it.
With this cab file installed (it does not install any of the O2 rubbish that you don't want, only the connection settings to allow you to use GPRS & UMTS)
When prompted you need to select personal mode, to ensure that the file installs properly.
Hope this helps
On SPB Diary screen not fitting...find out the size that works for you for each screen orientation, then edit registry:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Spb Software House/Spb Diary/TotalHeight - for Portrait mode,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Spb Software House/Spb Diary/TotalHeightL - for Landscape mode
Sorted!
if you are having problems with the connection to internet and phone connections, let us know your provider and am sure we can post the cab file so that you can just install that feature.
otherwise, install total commander for a file explorer
path it to \extended_rom\ and find the file for your communication provider and run just that one cab file.
mms connections cab file here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=205766#205766
For a few other comments to your initial question as i am bored and sitting here debating going to bed.... I Know, read item 2/3 of the initial post, but I am going to break the rule and type in upper case to seperate my comments from the original, I AM NOT SHOUTING.....
Get rid of the delay on flipping from Landscape to Portrait.
FIXING SOME OF THESE OTHER ITEMS WILL LEAD TO THIS, BUT CORPORATE INSTALL FOR 02 AS I READ IT IS YOUR ONLY CHOICE, HARD RESET, START AGAIN.
Get rid of the awful buttons down the left hand side and the gap at the bottom of the Landscape screen so I can actually utilise the full screen.
I THINK THIS IS THE RETAIL CONSUMER CRAP THAT COMES WITH O2 AS I DONT HAVE IT ON THE IMATE. REFER ABOVE POINT.
Get SBP Diary working propoerly when the screen flips (never seems to fit)
MINE WORKS PERFECTLY, LOOK AT YOUR FONTS. SEND A SCREEN SHOT SO THAT I CAN SEE WHAT YOU MEAN BY DOESNT FIT.
Make WMP 10 to swow my movies in full screen rather than postage stamp size.
KNOWN BUG, ANTICIPATING A FIX. USING TCPMP AVAILABLE FREE ON THE WEB SHOULD PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE APP FOR WATCHING VIDEOS IN FULL SCREEN.
I want to run WeatherPanel (Marsware) without it crashing and requiring a soft reset every so often. I would also ike it to operate full screen.
NEVER HEARD OF IT, I USE SPB WEATHER PERFECTLY.
I want to keep a note of my battery performance and some international time zones.
USE THE CLOCK FOR ONE TIME ZONE, BUT IF MORE THAN THAT YOU CAN USE MOBIMATE PROFESSIONAL I THINK IT IS.
On my XDA 2 I used to run:
Battery Pack
Journal Bar
GET RID OF BOTH IN MY VIEW, BOTH ARE CRAP. JOURNAL BAR WILL KILL YOUR SPEED. I DOWNLOADED THEM TRIED THEM, USED THEM, WENT BACK TO SPB AND USE RSS FEEDERS OR SYNC'D PAGES TO KEEP UP. ALSO, I DONT THINK JOURNAL BAR IS ACTUALLY WM5 COMPATIBLE, NOT MY CALL ON THAT ONE.
Neither seem to work on the Exec without sucking all the memory out of it.
AS MENTIONED, GET RID OF THEM THEY ARE SUCKING THE CRAP OUT OF IT.
I run Town Compass Bartender Drinks and Pocket Stars. I run A-Z viewer and Pocket Streets. All of these are from my memory Card (1GB)
NEVER HEARD OF THEM. JUST CAUSE THEY ARE ON THE MEMORY CARD DOESNT MEAN THAT WHEN YOU HAVE USED THEM, THEY CORRECTLY GIVE ALL THE MEMORY THEY WERE USING BACK. SOME DO, MOST DONT, AND SOME JUST HOG IT AND GIVE ONLY A FEW KB'S BACK. MEASURE THERE PERFORMANCE WHEN YOU USE THEM PREFERABLY AFTER SOFT RESETS.
THERE IS A COUPLE OF LITTLE TINY APPS AVAILABLE THAT ARE SLIGHTLY SUCCESSFUL IN FORCING APPLICATIONS TO RELEASE MEMORY AND GIVE IT BACK, BUT AGAIN, ONLY SLIGHTLY SUCCESSFUL.
I rarely use the internet, but like to check a few scores, especially when abroad - can this be sped up?
FIND A WEBSITE THAT PROVIDES THIS INFORMATION, PLACE IT INTO YOUR MOBILE FAVOURITES ON YOUR COMPUTER, SET IT UP TO AUTOMATICALLY SYNC TO YOUR PC MACHINE, THEN SYNC THAT DATA TO YOUR PDA. DISABLE ALL PHONE COMMUNICATIONS WHEN REVIEWING TO STOP IT GOING TO THE WEB TO GET THE DATA AND FORCE IT TO LOOK ON YOUR MACHINE FOR THE INFORMATION.
I'll offer my thoughts on the questions you ask with which I've had some experience...

The default O2 software will slow your machine down spectacularly. Do a hard reset and choose 'Basic' mode (not corporate). Basic mode doesn't install all the O2 crap, but DOES install the connection settings for you, so you can access the internet and stuff. Later, when you're an expert like all of us (NOT! ) you can/should choose Corporate mode and then install your chosen CAB files yourself.
Another thing to do to speed up your Exec is to turn off Error Reporting and Incoming Beams. You'll find these items in the Settings pages.

I'd ignore Whiggy's suggestion of resizing all your movies  , and I'd do what Simon_Darley suggested: install TCPMP which is a free media player that works perfectly in full screen. (Google for 'TCPMP'.) The full-screen problem is a known bug in WMP which they'll hopefully fix in due course. Resizing all your movies to 640x480 seems like a lot of hassle and a waste of disk space when TCPMP plays them just fine.

There's a fantastic free battery meter that someone posted in another thread on this forum and which I'm using with no problems. If I can find it I'll add it to the bottom of this post. SPB Pocket Plus has a battery meter, but PP slows the Exec down so much that I uninstalled it.
If I want to know a world time I use the built-in clock application, which works for me.

There are lots of programs available that claim to be WM5 compatible, but they're not. They'll do more to slow your Exec down and make it unstable than anything else you can do. Choose your programs carefully, and test your machine after each installation to check whether it's slowed the thing down.
After doing this I decided that I can live with almost all the default MS apps, but add extras that I use occasionally, like TomTom, ListPro and TCPMP. Anything running all the time (like a Today plugin) or anything that replaces the PIM (contacts & calendar) could cause you big problems.
I personally disagree fully with the theory that people in these forums often quote, of using a task switcher to force the closure of running programs (instead of allowing Windows to minimise them). MS designed the OS to handle memory itself, and my machine works perfectly when I allow this to happen.

A word of caution in case you haven't tried this yet: GPRS usage abroad costs a bloody fortune (as a friend found out after a week in New York in which he checked his emails from time to time, leaving himself with an £80 bill when he got home...)

Easiest Way to VGA

Can someone please explain the easiest way to get VGA resolution on my XDA Exec? Am I right in assuming that although the screen has a 640x480 resolution, they use pixel doubling to negate it and it actually runs at the same resolution as my Dell Axim X5 (320x240)?
Is there a simple registry hack that disables this, or do I have to botch around installing a hack and then trying to botch all my apps to run in the new resoluition? Does anyone know if TomTom5 works in VGA mode?
I'm sure this has been covered already, but some of the topics are 13+ pages and date back quite a bit, and the site is a tad slow to trawl through lots of postings and searching for VGA brings up hundreds of topics.
Thanks in advance for your helps folks.
This is the best thread - there is a ZIP file on page one that I dobwloaded and it contains all the instructions to get things working
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=32217
this is the post I didn't particularly want to have to trawl through, as it's 13 pages long and really slow to switch pages.
TheFair - as noted above, there is a zip containing instructions. You don't have to read all 13 pages, although it's useful background reading - we didn't write all 13 pages just for fun .
I had to do VGA again yesterday, for the first time in a long time, and it's very simple. Basically:
Unzip, copy files to windows, click ozvga, reset.

OK, thanks Vijay. Will I need to install your Bigphone application and replace other system apps once done? Also, any idea if TTN5 works in VGA mode? As my XDA is used primarily as a SatNav, I'll stick with QXGA if it's not going to work properly.
Thanks
thefair1973: VJBigPhone can be used to make the phone app usable again, (I don't use my Uni as a phone, so I don't use it ) Replacing system apps etc is optional, but obviously helpful if you use the apps effected.
No idea about TTN5, but it's basically one click to revert to QVGA, so I'd do a backup and just give it a go if I were you!
V
great, thanks very much for your help Vijay.
I use TTN5 and VGA. TTN appears to drive the screen directly, so you don't get any extra resolution, but it works fine

Is VGA in Universal already perfected? Which applications are still not showing right upon application of this hack?

Thanks Vijay! I just performed a hard reset, so I am ready to try something new. I downloaded the file compliled by Khashim I believe, I'll check if I got his name right. Which one did you use? Is it the file from Carnivor or Khashim? (Yes it is Khashim.)
I think originally I used Carnivor's, but frankly, I had an old set of files that had been sitting on my SD card for some time (I've posted the zip in that thread as well, towards the end).
However, I don't think there's a big difference. Use the one that sounds positive. It's easy to copy over new files if required. But you should only need to fiddle with it if you see problems in some of your apps. I don't use many apps, but I don't see any problems.

I tried. It does look wonderful for browsing using PIE. But I do agree that the font are too small. I also tried VJBigPhone and it did made the buttons larger, but the bottom part has a different color. Did I miss something about the skin?
Comm Manager has the same problem about the skin on the bottom part.
I love how ozVGA changes PIE, but weighing the benefits on other applications I use, I decided it is not for me at the moment. I hope someday someone can implement an application to run a specific application on VGA mode selectively and not implement it on the whole device. Thanks for the responses.

Waiting for a more selective pixel doubling patch may take a while or be futile. I think it's possible but I've not had time to implement my own hack yet.
V
I've done the VGA hack & overall its a major improvement.
The size of toolbars & the fact that some fonts are too small is a nause, same as the programs that don't display properly. But its SOOO good to see so much text on the screen.
To be honest, if it doesn't really run at 640x480, is it not a case of false advertisment? Just a thought.
xyon: it is running at VGA (640x480), but just making everything sharper and emulating 320x240. I asked an Orange spokesman once and he said they were going for "quality over quantity". I suspect they just didn't know how bloody persistent haxxors could be
I prefer 640x480, but it does make day to day usage inconvenient. Perhaps all apps will eventually have native 640x480 support. But given how many years it took to go back to square screen support, I'm not very hopeful!

OziExplorer CE VGA bug on Athena

Easy to replicate.
Just launch OziExplorerCE on the Athena. Then open a map. It's shown perfectly in VGA resolution without the need of those programs to change to real VGa mode. BUT...
If you click and keep press the screen a pop-up menu comes up. Choose Full Screen in order to see the map in full screen mode. The map appears in the screen for a while and then the map area goes white. If you press the screen and drag it the map comes up again until you release the screen.
The bug is on releases 1.12.32 and 1.12.35 (1.12.3e3) and in the development release 1.11.6h which was the first one supporting VGA mode.
Can someone replicate the problem? Any idea on solving it?
Thank you in advance.

Hi.
I know CompeGPS... but you know I got hundreds (hmm... even thousands) of maps and ortophotos (is this spanglish?) of my country calibrated (again spanglish? I mean with .map file generated) for OziExplorer... and I'm not too sure about converting all of them in batch-mode into a format recognized by CompeGPS.
Anyway thank you for answering.

Is there any news on OziExplorer?
I have the exact same issue, in full screen my maps go blank.
I can zoom in or out and the map becomes temporarily visible
but when switching on the gps the screen blanks out again...
Thanks for any advice.

I have the exact same issue, in full screen my maps go blank.
I can zoom in or out and the map becomes temporarily visible
but when switching on the gps the screen blanks out again...
Thanks for any advice.

I'm still with the problem even running the Developer release of OziExplorerCE. I was told that that one should fix the problem... is not.
So... Fugawi or CompeLand looks a solution if full-screen is a must. Anyway I keep on using OziCE since I have hundreds of maps and sat-photos calibrated for Ozi.
converting
The new (HTC WM6) Rom upgrade did not help either...
Is there a quick way to convert all the ozi maps to one of the other programs (Compe, Fugawi)?
Sent an email to OziExplorer and HTC on the issue (weeks ago) and have not received any reply...
Compe people has info in their web page about batch converting Ozi maps but the problem is that I like OZI. I'm not aware about batch conversions on Fugawi.
compeGPS changed my life...
Well, as I did not get any replies nor found any solutions, I tried compeGPS Pocket Land and it is as if I am timewarped... I thought I could not live without Oziexplorer, but I can...
Far more versatile, 3D view (like TTN) with track up (maps turned so they show you where you are heading), changing moving map icons with a pic of my car, etc. etc., and support that does reply to your questions...
The PC version allows you to search for all sorts of maps available for yor area from within the program (and shows them there).
I too had thousands of maps in ozi format, but I found an easy (batch)conversion program by John Tserkezis: MakeImage (eventually combined with map2ppc for cleaning .map files) which does the trick!
See http://members.optusnet.com.au/~johntserkezis/oziutils.html
Cheers!
Go back evil man!!! Keep that temptation away from me.

Changing RealVGA resolutions: iGuidance

This is what I got from the iGuidance support team. I was excited to hear the solution was so simple.
Hi,
What you are asking is the capability to keep both QVGA & VGA.exe's on your PPC and be able to switch back and forth depending on your applications.
iGuidance will initially install both VGA and QVGA.exe's, but after first launch on your PPC, the program will automatically detect and keep the file according to which mode your PDA has and delete the other one.
For example, immediately after you've installed iGuidance on your PPC and BEFORE you try launching the program, under your program files\iNav\iGuidance directory, initially you will have:
iguidanceVGA.exe
iguidanceQVGA.exe
iguidance.exe
iGuidance.exe isn't QVGA nor VGA. It launches when you launch iGuidance, checks resolution of your PPC, deletes the wrong one, and relaunches the right one.
Thus, the only way to keep both VGA and QVGA exe's are to delete iguidance.exe immediately after installation, then launch iguidanceVGA.exe or iguidanceQVGA.exe manually from the program files\iNav\iGuidance directory based on your need.
Hope this information helps.
Thank you.

In the next few days I hope to whip up a mortscript to see what the current res is and launch the right version for it and also test the VGA version on 128dpi (the default for 128 is QVGA, which is why I asked in the first place - it works, but the icons overlap & some other funky-but-useable stuff.)
Awhile back I posted an even easier solution. Set both of the resolution bound exe´s as “read only”. By doing this you can use the standard launcher in the usual manner.
One caveat, in 128dpi, using this method, the vga app will launch. The menus in the qvga app are better for 128dpi.
Why wouldn't you just create a .lnk to whatever executable
you wish to initiate Iguidance in qvga or vga?
That's what I actually use now. Just wanted to point out that writing a script was not necessary.
The blessing of the developer
RO is, quite frankly, much more ingenious than this solution! Sorry I didn't find it before I spouted off.
I do like the idea of doing things that are supported, and the QVGA does look better, if not perfect, in 128dpi, so I just made shortcuts to each. Also, this way if I have to flash, I can restore my start menu/programs and not worry about blowing one away if I forget to change the properties. It's more clutter, but worth the safety.
