Hi there,
My XDA Atom LCD broke, I ordered a replacement NEC screen and installed it.
When I reassemble the phone, the touchscreen stops working.
When I take the rear plate off and boot up, the touchscreen works again.
I guess something is contacting/shorting... Any ideas what it could be and what I could do to resolve the situation?
Thanks in advance for your input & advice!

hi,
this is my first post. i have a major problem with my o2 xda mini s.
my lcd cracked so i replaced it with one i imported from taiwan (www.runpda.com).
the new display is blank but i know the phone is on because it responds to touch input. do i have to reinstall or flash the phone to get it to work or is it possibly a hardware incompatibility issue? any feedback is appreciated. thanks
U made a mistake...contact Kaiser Electronics..Mr Javed 9821160515
the first thing i would check is that the ribbon type cable that connects into the motherboard from the screen is firmly in place.. i had the same with my c500 realised the cable goes further in than you first realise.
Cheers
Steve
hii !!
my trinity has an lcd problem, it does not turn on , although other functions work fine.
i think it is the lcd socket?? because the black thing that secures the lcd cable fell out and im unable to put it back in. so the lcd cable is inserted in the socket without the black clip. im pretty sure its still in when i reassembled the phone though.
although one of the pins in the socket was previously bent however i managed to make it straight at least i think so. so after many tries, at times the lcd will light up with a dim light, at times the light is brighter, with the touch screen working.
sorry if this is a noob question but i was wondering what needs to be replaced. or if it can be easily fixed???
thanks for reading =) any advice will be greatly appreciated
also the it lights up without any picture. just light thanks
I had the same problem so I sent my phone to HTC repair centre just to find out that they couldn't fix it. I had nothing to lose, so I experimented. Anyway, 4 layers of duct tape will solve your problem. Stick them at the exact place where the black clip was and that's it. Don't give up trying!
thanks for ur suggestion
i tried that but to no avail
the lcd just lights up dimly but no picture, touch screen works
is it possible to be lcd damage, possibly water damage ?
or possibly can it be the mother board ?? all other components work fine, its just the screen
Maybe it's LCD, I don't know.
You have to put it all together and fasten all screws to be sure that my suggestion doesn't work. I must have done it all at least 50 times before I managed to make it work without a problem.
For a bit time ago i accidently broke my lcd display on my hd2, and because htc could not fix this cheap i decided to try myselvf.
first i ordered a lcd and a new digitizer and soldered them together and fixed everything just like in the video and the lcd started to work, but now my touch pad does'n work! I can't do anything
Then i took the screen out and ordered a new one from ebay which was assembled from the shop.
And same resault
what could be the problem? I have a danish hd2 and i have tried to update the firmware after i replaced the screen and digitizer and still no respond
what could be the problem?
hey, did u fix the digitizer yet. i had a similar problem. the volume buttons got stuck in and i decided to open it and fix it. right after closing it back the digitizer stopped functioning...............please let me know asap if u managed to fix urs and how u did it thanks
Same problem here
I've got the exact same problem. Replaced LCD and digitizer but it is still not working. Additionally the screen is a little yellowish. Anyone knows if this might be related and any idea who to possibly fix this?
Hi, I have exactly the same problems, even tried with 2 fresh new digitizers. Could it be that they are extremely sensitive on the inside? Or is it some glitch somewhere?
Extremely frustrating!
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
well mine is in the scrapped now. when my digitizer arrives and i sort things out i will get back to you
Hi, I bought HD2 with broken digitizer, so after it came to me I immediately buy new digitizer, didn't look for the cheapert but once again I resolve myself to never buy things for china digitizer doesn't work so I need to new one from USA, send it to my friend and he repair it within day, now everything work... and yes digitizer are very sensitive
Hi guys, i followed all the indictaions on the official videos but i think i broke something! I had an HTC hd2 with a broken digitilizer but the screen worked fine. I bought a screen+digitilzer combo and replaced it but it didnt work.
The screen does not show anything (black screen) but the backlight of it is on!
I tought maybe was a problem of that lcd so i tested the original screen (that was working) and it does the same.
What could be the problem??
Please i need help
come onn, anyone ?
please guys, anyone ??
Sounds like a defective lcd to me. I'd try an RMA asap on getting another unit before your DOA warranty (if the lcd has one) runs out.
it's not the LCD. I had a working LCD but a defective digitizer, i bought the lcd+digitizer replacement and now both screens do the same , just the backlight is on. And before i change the screens the original lcd was working fine.
Could it be because the LCD is not correctly pasted into the chassis ? i really don't know what could it be the problem. The lcd is correctly connected to the mainboard. What could i broke in the process?
Thanks connexion2005 for the help anyways, is nice to see someone finally answered hehe!

If you were not really gental with the internal parts of the phone, more presisly the ribbons that connect each part to the main board you could have cause micro cracks in the copper strips of the ribbons. Look at the closely with a magnifying. glass if possible.
today i was able to sync it literally with no idea of what i was touching. I also figured that the digitizer works , i was able it dial some numbers. The phone appears to work.
So, Backlight is on, Touch (digitizer) also works, but not showing anything on the LCD.
Could it be a mainboard problem ?? I'm trying to use logic because i don't know anything about cellphones and how do they work in terms of components.
Could it be the ribbon ? I dont think so, i have two screens and both of them do the same (backlight on but not showing anything).
I'm clueless!
Don`t panic. Calm down, watch a demolution tuturial. You probably miss smt. Good luck
But it could be a ribbon...
So I bought a HD2 with bad touch screen. The issue was the very common one that every one knows, red button that was poking into the touch screen flex cable. I opened up the phone and fixed the issue and touch screen was working perfectly fine. In the process, unfortunately, I chipped a little edge of the front glass/digitizer. It was not a big deal as phone was still working fine. But I decided to buy a new front glass.
When my new front glass arrived, I separated the digitizer/front glass from LCD, but then half of my LCD got corrupted. So I ended up buying an LCD too!!!
Now comes the issue: when I put the phone together, touch screen doesn't work at all. I have tried all combinations of NEW / OLD digitizer and NEW / OLD lcd. Nothing works. I wonder if anyone can help me figure out why?
P.S. When testing, I happened to connect the phone to my 5w wall charger directly connecting it to power pins (without battery installed). Would that be why I lost touch? Is the touch issue now because of motherboard that was directly connected to adapter, not getting power from its designated battery?
have you tried the old lcd with old digitizer (which was working)?
tried it before replacing?
did you made some change to the software before replacing?
I currently have this problem too while trying to revive my old- almost 3 years inactive- HD2 with new touchscreen, and still trying to figure out where is the problem

Yes I had tried the old LCD, and that didn't work either.
I installed a WiFi Keyboard on it.
Did you resolve this issue?
