Is it possible to move Help Files (.htm) to the SD Card ??

My help files are taking up quita lot of RAM in my Windows folder - would they still work if placed on SD card, similar to how Memaid moves DLL's ??

I moved all help files to SD card and placed a shortcut of the help folder where it was and it works great.

but why this work? with this solution i gain only 1,2 KB!!!!!!

I tried that... But I can't move all help files in \Windows dir. ( hidden files)
it says.. ROM is protected ( or something like that )
I got around 250 KB free .... not bad I guess...
but if I can remove all help files I'll get around 1 MB
do u have any idea :?:

anybody knows how to delete these read only help files!??

if they're ROM files then they're not taking any room that you can gain back unless you cook your own ROM without them.

not from the ROM - you can't shrink the rom except by making a new rom, which AFAIK isn't possible yet on Magician. Best bet for space is to use cabinst to install all programs to Storage/Storage Card, and use MemMaid etc to move many dlls to Storage, and use BigRom hack for extra space. That'll make you much more than a few k from the HTML files.

Opera 8.6

Thinking of installing Opera 8.6 browser onto my Tytyn question is do I have to install in device memory so that it works properly or can I install into the sd card.
Also can I direct the temporary internet files onto external memory as can be done with a reg tweak in PIE. Thanks

Yes to both if I recall. I had the trial on my wizard, I don't want to pay for it because truth be told it is not worth the money. I know I had it installed on the sd card. I also remember there being a setting in opera I think to move the temp files. If not then search the forums and I am sure someone had posted the registry settings that needed to be changed.

yes, definitely works on my xda trion via device or sd card install......i have tweaks2k2 also to put the temp internet files, history and cookies on sd card, but im pretty sure there is a registry hack in the wiki to put these folders on the sd card.

hello i was installing a new rom to my mobile (prophet) and after it finished i found my memory card had been stopped to work properly i found
1 when i open my storage card from file explorer it open the card but i donot find the files which there was on it
2 when i try to see how is the memory available on it ,i found the same memory which it was before i install the rom and i see that the card has a very big memory used which it was on it before but no files can be seen
3 i tried to even format the card but i cudnot do that and i read want to the files which was on it
plz i know that there r many experts here who gonna tell me wat to do
i used the program called pocket mechanic but it didnot do anything new
plz i wanna quick answer

i didnot encrypted my files but that appears when i installed the new rom

TheCHAMPJT is correct, you"re files have been encrypted by the built in program in the rom. You should be able to unlock it again using the same program (under settings) provided you haven't and DON'T reflash your rom on your phone. That will make problems much worse.

why didnt you follow the age old rulle and take out all the cards in the phone?

cabs in windows dir

I was looking for a exe in the windows dir, when i came across some cabs to panels (SE, mxp etc)
if u delete these it should free up some space.
i cant see it effecting the phone as these are cabs
Am i right?

you can try to move 1 of them to your sd card if you can't they're in the rom and can't be deleted and as such will not free up space even if you cooked a new rom without them

your right, cant move or delete them. what a waste of space

you can remove their from ROM image file : )
use HTC ROM Image Editor : )
but before make backup of phone )

HELP!!

i wanna know how to put the apps,themes on my hd2 phone please help me.. im noob -__-

get the cab for whatever you are installing, copy it to your phone (recommend creating a "cabs" folder on your sd card for this)
then run the cab file from your sd card.

it's about as easy as what samsamuel said. The hardest part is deciding what applications to install.
