The Diamond is clearly a superior product to the Iphone (with the exception of the Iphone having more screen real estate). Everytime I turn around, my Iphone-toting colleagues have downloaded a new game from the App Store that uses the accelerometer (g-sensor), and they're really nice games with really nice graphics! I have to pretend not to be jealous of the selection they have at their disposal.
So with all the talent and dedicated WinMo people here, why do you guys think there are only 10+ games for the Diamond? Do you think the revenue that can be made through the Apple App Store is driving higher production for games? Maybe the Iphone is more of a "toy" to some folks and the Diamond is more of an enterprise tool? (Mine is both a toy AND an office tool!)
I love my Diamond... just wish there were some more cool games (like Super Monkey Ball ) that I could get for it!
And yes, if I had one shred of coding skill to my name, I'd start doing it myself... but I don't. The apps that have come out so far though for the Diamond are awesome. Keep 'em coming guys!
I think there are a few things.
1) More iPhones sold - Must be around 10 million vs only maybe 2.5 million Diamonds.
2) The iPhone actually officially supports the G-Sensor, vs the Diamond's API not being officially released.
3) More excitement around the iPhone as a toy.

Plus, they had that open SDK project going for sometime before it was actually released and developers were smart enough to know, that anything Steve Jobs is excited about, will sale like hotcakes, thus the opportunity for ton's of money.

I have the diamond and my husband has the iphone. My very gadgety 6-year-old son loved the diamond when he first saw the teeter game. But then the iphone was brought home and even my not-so-keen 4-year-old daughter kept saying she wanted to play "cowabunga" (a very colorful free game from iphone). My son of course was hooked on the car racing game that we downloaded. So far, he just said once that the wallpaper on my diamond was pretty and he didn't play teeter anymore (probably it's not as colorful ).
So conclusion, iphone is much more like a toy than the diamond.
BTW, a side issue. I noticed that iphone's power management is superb compared to diamond. Iphone can last over 2 days with wifi and bluetooth on ALL THE TIME and some games and moderate use. I can't keep my wifi on for my diamond for more than 2 hours.... as I know it can't even last for half day if I do so. And yes, bluetooth on iphone is only an icon on the screen without any use. I kept it on just to show to my husband that it's useless. It's undiscoverable, unpairable..... even its very dear brother Mac book can't make any use with it.

I still believe that diamond is a more powerful device but with respect to games.... I have to admit that diamond can't win over my kids. I am a bit embarrassed to show the kids those diamond "games", when they can touch and scare the fish in "Koi Pond", or having silly fun with bouncing and falling cows that moo, or driving BMW or Mercedez like crazy in LA street... Yeah yeah, I know unbelievable, but you have to see to admit (go to youtube and take a look at "Koi Pond", "Cowabunga", "Asphalt 4").
Asphalt 4 for is available for Windows mobile too, so it should work on your diamond?
it is not only the Gsen - but for sure screen size and how you "hold" the phones.
I will never ever buy aniPhone, but I do believe it is easier to play Gsen games on it. Kids +6 can not be fooled

I agree completely. Wish it looked more realistic like the Iphone one. But then again, it's not a make-or-break app for me.
If you really like games ! use a psp or nintendo ds. I also have an iphone and

Keep in mind also the Diamond is relatively new compared iSuck phones, the diamond just hit the US market a few weeks now so its like the word hasent gotten arround to dev about the Diamond as yet, which would relate to what ppl say about marketing, htc hasent really put the diamond in the US yet.
Also imo the iphone is eye candy and that all it will ever be, the diamond on the other hand is all round mostly for seriouse customers for business and what not.

3. The Diamond is been out for less than year. The ugly fruit is on its "second" gen (same crap).
4.I run a buissness on my own and manage t do a lot through the Diamond and WinMobs awsome connection capabilitys. (those fruitys cant even FTP Bluetooth!)

I'll put this in my own words middle of night and i cant get techinal.. "Apple = for beginners, Windows = Advanced users who like to have things run the way they want it too, when apple runs things their way, and u r stuck with it." >.>
the iphone has been out for more then a year now with an SDK package for developers, plus a lot of marketing. The diamond is still a baby, and also not even released in US in full potential. With MS building a app repository service and the diamond + touch pro getting more user base, I have the very confidence that we'll be seeing a lot of applications utilizing the G sensor in either utilities or gaming. I mean the things that marvels us already are the g sensor alarm clocks, locking mechinisms and the full ability to use gsen to redraw the screen in any orientation, something the iphone cannot do.
All I can say is give it time, with now the hardware standards rising for windows mobile, you can totally bet that there's going to be pleanty of applications out there utilizing the new technology.

I hate it when people say the Diamond is for the business user. I don't use it for business i bought the phone coz it looked good and had some cool features.
What is everyones problem. As soon as somebody requests a game or app that the iphone has you all cry like babies saying fuk your gayphone and all that ****. I'm starting to get worried coz the "Gayphone" has games in nearly every category so looks like we're not gonna get left with many.
Do you guys remember the Tamagochi (sp?) virtual pets that we used to get?
You had to feed them and train them and play with them and just generally try to keep tham alive.
I think just about everyone had one of those at some point or another, or at least played a little with a friend's to "check it out"
I think it'd be awesome if we could have an application/game that could bring back those fond memories with the great technology and features we have at our disposal.
Any takers for this task?

Perhaps some kind of app that can stay in the background while "growing" and vibrate/beep when hungry, etc.

I've been playing guitar for about 15 years now, primarily thrash and death metal. I have a bunch of crap recorded but it's all on my crappy boss digital recorder. I am just getting into computer recording, just bought me a MacBook Pro and a cheap line6 UX2 interface, trying to ease myself into it.

nice. i rap and make rap beats, but honestly i appreciate all music. (for the most part) youll enjoy recording on a computer. ive been making music since i was 12. i built my own booth (all hardware) around age 15 i started with a windows pc and last january moved to an iMac. best move of my career (engineer and production wise.)
here is some feedback and i preface it with saying congrats either way man, just my take on the cuts
suicide - i like the beat and the flow is nice...my two cents tone down the side noise and let the beat and the lyrics take center stage. I was going to say its pretty southern and saw the ATL so made total sense (i prefer more east coast hip hop)
blah blah - kill everything but the "bell sound" and the blah blah for the beat, i think its a pretty unique
extraordinary - i like it, the vocals are being dominated by everything else

Yeah the mac is awesome. I used to be a blind apple hater before, and then once I got my ipad my views started to change. All it took was an hour of playtime with the macbook pro before I decided to buy it, and it was one of the best decisions I have made in a while. I will most likely never buy another windows machine again, at least not for personal use.
Google my screen name, links will show up. Mysoace, soundclick etc. I used acid pro usually to mix. Haven't done much lately, I stopped smoking weed and im not as motivated anymore. Weird huh?

Definitely appreciate the feedback man... As far as the critiques, those are ALL mixtape tracks so from an engineering standpoint, not much you can do with a 2 track... know what I mean lol... I'll post up some 100% original material

if she's a heavy gamer, and likes emulator gaming (snes, gba, ecc) that has got their share of Mario and Zelda, then the xplay is the way to go, but be careful: the xperia play may be perfect for gaming, and that's one point in favor to "teenagers", but at the same time it has a big downside for that kind of person: it's bulky, and while most of the time it's a matter of opinion and tastes, i'd say that 90% of the world's population thinks this phone is definetly not beautiful. I'd go as far as to say it's quite ugly.
Maybe for a teenager girl that's a big point of interest, while i myself don't give two flying craps about it
But the active is a good piece of phone too. You said "it's a most recent model" but it has got the same exact hardware as the play, but that's not the point: dude i've seen videos on youtube made by a fellow italian like me in which he absolutely tries to destroy the xperia active without even scratching it, throwing it in puddles, trying to scratch its screen with screwdrivers, RUNNING OVER IT with a god forsaken car!!!
I really envy xperia active users. THey can experience their phones without that constant, persistent fear that gets to all of us when we take our 500 euro phone out of our pockets. Without fearing to scratch the screen with keys in their pockets, without fearing to drop it, without fearing to get it wet...

it depends on if she is a girly girl or not. as if she is then she will prob want a bright pink iphone lol but if she isnt then she will prob like gaming alot and therefore would love the xplay

Thats why I returned my droid3 a week after it came out. I wanted something new and exciting, saw the Xperia Play , realized I could have a fully functional smartphone that allows me to play games with ease, said to myself "yea ill take that".

The Xperia Play can do anything she would use an android for, I would say if she likes games then get her a Play, if she does not play games then she wont utilize the gaming controls, if thats the case, get her the Active.
Who said the Play looks ugly ? I've gotta say it looks really nice especially in white. It may be bulky but that's about it, regarding looks I think it looks very good !

Hey mates, just wanted to share a sad story of mine. One of my friends has an mmx canvas hd, and I have, ofcourse xperia sp in my possession. Both of us boasted about performance of our phone. I was confident that SP would beat the mmx anyday, so I agreed on a bet. I noted my SP's battery would drain 6% in 10 mins while playing temple run oz. So I challenged her that, i) Her 2000 mah cell would drain more than 6% in 10 minutes and ii) loading time of the game, and smoothness of gameplay would be much better in SP. One would give another a small treat if anybody loses.
So I installed the game on her mobile and yes you can guess right, I LOST THE CHALLENGE!! Her battery drained only 2% in 7 minutes, her phone loaded the game much faster and shamefully even ran a little smoother than my SP. She called me a loser and my SP a rubbish phone and I couldn't say anything in reply. :crying: More than this, I had to pretend it's a no big deal when both our phones were placed on a horizontal table and the touch of SP was acting horribly wrong. (She overlooked it, anyway, so I took a sigh of relief). When starting oz, many times you must have noticed the "Please Wait" box displayed. I think it's for killing processes and freeing some memory. This morning it even killed my walkman while starting the game. I didn't notice anything like that on her mmx. So the situation is like this: all my pride regarding superiority of SP's hardware compared to canvas hd is gone!! poof!! Really if SP cannot show off even infront mmx phone in a practical situation? why we would spend xtra 10.5k for it? Better camera?? or bravia engine?? sadly, i am now thinking why spend 10k extra for no performance benefits. i am only looking at the value for money factor.

Bro leave small games.. Try to play a big HD game in both. U will feel the different... I will tell u one story. My friend having MMX Canvas HD and he having Modern Combat 4 in his mobile. I just played it for exact 35 minutes continually.. The result is first 10 minutes it runs smoothly.. But after that its start to lag. I have rebooted the phone three times..
But in my SP i can play MC 4 continuously for hours. No lag and no heating problem.. I finished 5 levels in a single gameplay. With out any intervel... So always Sony is is better than MMX Canvas HD bro..U will feel the bad things in MMX after 6 or 7 months.. Branded phones are always better

I think it's for killing processes and freeing some memory. This morning it even killed my walkman while starting the game. I didn't notice anything like that on her mmx. So the situation is like this: all my pride regarding superiority of SP's hardware compared to canvas hd is gone!! poof!! Really if SP cannot show off even infront mmx phone in a practical situation? why we would spend xtra 10.5k for it? Better camera?? or bravia engine?? mmx have rebranded phones it wasn't there at the first..and don't compare sony with mmx .because my friend has mmx canvas hd 'A116' after one month of usage its phone started making bad surprises like reboot,sound coming from inside and i have played nfs most wanted on his canvas after 10 min it gets hot like it would blow anytime and mmx
phone don't have standards see for example like u go into a marriage at least with sony u don't have to hide it lolz i really happy with my device and temple also run without any
hiccups don't know why ur phone giving this prob. at least i am satisfied with my sp gr8 phone gr8 support in jaipur

Dude don't worry about such lame games... Challenge her for CSR Racing, Real Racing 3, Asphalt 7 or MC4. Then I am sure SP will beat Canvas' b**t big time.
I know someone whose Canvas HD stutters even while running Fruit Ninja & my friend's Samsung Galaxy Y Dous runs it better than Canvas HD. So don't worry so much. Also run the AnTuTu & Quadrant benchmarks & compare the score. That will give you more bragging rights in front your your friend (& hopefully more treats sponsored by her )

I challenged her today to have one final battle of phones, to play an hd high resource consuming game for an hour on both our phones and them comparing them. The MMX Canvas HD can't handle the heavy 3D game, although my country din sell those phone, but wat I see from review, 3D games gameplay lagging anyway....
When I play simple games like Temple Run 2 and Subway Surfers, my frame rate is consistently 60 FPS (measured by FPS Meter), and I believe Temple Run Oz will have the same story. So how can things be smoother than 60FPS?

If you use Pimp My ROM to disable VSync.
Canvas HD lags like hell when I go through the messages or list of contacts

Hi Rajeev. Seriously theres no heating problem with your phone>?
i realize whatever i do with my phone my phone will heat up after some time.
At room temperature room browsing/run non HD games will get as high as 44degree celcius
41degree in air conditioned room.
10-20minutes +1 degree
dont even bother to try HD games
may i know whats your xperia sp rom/kernel setting/ running which firmware version?
I'm on stock .257 btw. was on .211 but heating issues persist.
I suspect its the processor's nature as its clocked at a quite high clock speed.

My phone only gets so hot if I were to run graphically intensive games, as well as be in a warm environment.

have you tried browsing with google chrome with multiple taps on for more than 1hours?
that should get your device heat up to you can feel the uncomfortable heat from the touch screen.
