SIP Keyboards Localization - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi all, i was thinking about making a thread with a collection of the many SIP keyboards for wm6.1 (msim*.dll and relative CLSID regkey), that could be useful for those who, like me are into localization of other language ROMs.
Here i attached a zip with the .dll and .rgu for the Italian language SIP, you can do the same for other languages and make a unique archive with a list of the languages included.
And i have a little question... is there a way to set this SIPs as default? changing the "DefaultIM" regKey doesn't work, it breaks the ROM and i don't understand why, as those SIPs are defaults in the proper language ROMs... any help on that?

try sipchange to keep your fav kbd..

yep, i know... i was just tryin' to do it without external programs. After all they are used by default in the original ROMs, so i think is just a matter of settings or little patching something, but i don't know where to look at, everything i tried has failed till now.

Text messages?
It seems like I can't get this to work with text messages (the encoding option in my text message inbox is disabled). Does anyone know how I can get around this problem?
whats language you want to get?
using this rom or CAB files with English ROM?
Is your font in your Device or ROM?
i tried text message in Japanese, Chinese, Korean. Thai Languages in this ROM
How about with check the unicode option?.
Also encoding of IE and e-mail enabled?
SMS doesnt need some encoding if the SMS service center support that.
<but almost of them suport it, within my knowledge>

I want to get Traditional Chinese on my Vodafone V1640. I also have a T-Mobile SDA (on O2 UK) which has nina.ttf installed but it doesn't show all the characters (i.e. I still get some squares) which is why I want to try to get Chinese on my V1640.
The ROM is the latest i-mate WWE ROM.
I have a T-Chinese font (don't know the actual name of the font but it is definitely no included in the Chinese Windows) placed in the Windows/Font folder, but does it have to be a specific font (like MingLiu? it's quite big though)?
I forgot where the unicode option is. Encoding options in IE and E-mail are available (I can choose the language), but IE still can't display Chinese, despite the change in the encoding option.
Please help.
1; used my CAB right?
this can install wince.nls and enabler for the nls files.
Text message need the sytem font to discribe your languages.
so it means chinese font should be register as "System font"
you have never done that., i guess so.
Ok following the sample of font registry for Mingliu font.
1;way 1 <with the cab in this page>
import this with registry editor and put the Mingliu into windows folder.
and make soft reset, then you can solve all problem.
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink]
"MingLiu="\\windows\\tahoma.ttf,Tahoma"
"PMingLiu"="\\windows\\tahoma.ttf,Tahoma"
"Courier New"="\\windows\\mingliu.ac3,PMingLiu"
"Tahoma"="\\windows\\mingliu.ac3,PMingLiu"
2:way 2 <without the cab in this page>
Or you install my chinese enabler CAB.
(but you must uninstall previouse cab befor install thia\s)
http://www.asukal.jp/English/LocalizeCABS.htm
PLS go to the bottom of above page, then dl for the cab you wantt.
cab should be "for the WM5"
those were included registry and font. not mingliuy but chinese font in it.
I don't know any hebrew.
But I think the display hebrew on last pic is not correct, because there are so many same character in one line.

I use the PHM Registry Editor. Do I just create new "String" values? Also, do I have to create the location in the registry as it isn't there?
The font file is named HDZB_74.TTF by the way.
arabic doesn't seem correct from the screen shot... the right to left encoding isn't enabled which is making each word to print on it's own instead of getting merged
ady> Arabic "right to left", can it solve by registry tweak?
if so can you let me know??? i can not read Arabic acutualy
or the problem of font???
ft1860> i also can not know hebrew, so no way to know about the problem also.
also the problem came from Font or registry???
any way this ROM or cab just gives you wince.nls for encoding.
Hope each languages Experts tweak for detail and font link to discribe
correctly. i just put uni-code font to the demo fro other language which i couldnt read

yes you make new valu. if you think it is troublesum.
1:write your registry with text editor and save it as xxxxxx.reg file.
the head of registry need "REGEDIT 4"
2;use the TRE free registry editre;
http://www2r.biglobe.ne.jp/~tascal/download/pocketpc/tre_e.htm
and use import command from menu, them import the reg you saved.
then make soft reset.
if your registry is correct, your font can use as system font

Good luck.
Thank you for your effort. Finally there is a solution.

It may be solved by a registry tweak.
It is an old issue between the customers and the sponsor of I-mate. We have been seeking a convenient free solution to the right-to-left problem for a long time.
Anyway, I don't think the problem is from the font.
There is an example of a left-to-right text on the following link (the flash on the right side). http://www.imaginet-software.net/index.aspx?p=arabizer

Sorry just want to make sure whether there should be a space between "REGEDIT" and "4"?
No need Space. REGEDIT4 is ok. sorry make you confuse.
Arabic. ;;if some boday help me discribe the Registry, i will make a patch CAb for that.
too difficult to understand me that language
It works on WM5 already?! Hmmm.. the last time I checked it doesn't. Will check it out this weekend finger cross
I think it's font problem. Because even my device does not support display from left to right, my display of Arabic is perfectly correct. I use a font called DFHeiMedium from Dynalab. It is a unicode font.

Sym Key not working? Here's the solution...

Okay, this prob got me for some hours:
I updated my Universal from German ROM to latest (original) WWE ROM. After that, I tried all known hacks to put the hardware-keyboard to QWERTZ instead of QWERTY.
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd\Locale=0407
HKCU\keyboard layout\Preload\Default=e0010407
HKCU\keyboard layout\Preload\1\Default=e0010407
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty\Layout=0x20407
Unfortunately, after that, the SYM-Key wasn't working.
Now after trying various things and thinking a lot, I guess I have the answer.
It seems to be important that the first 3 values don't get changed. The Qwerty\Layout is the locale for the hardware keyboard driver and if you change the locales for WM5, too, I guess the scancodes get converted once more and so the SYM-Key doesn't work. After changing the first 3 registry keys back to 409, now everything works fine.
Cheers,
-mARKUS
I did similar modifications to my registry to make it work well with my italian keyboard and I ended with the same problem: the SYM key doesn't work.
I'll try with your solution. Thanks for sharing it!
In your original Ext_ROM, there should be a file called Signed_GER_KB.CAB. Just run that, then the KB is back as it should be. No need to modify the registry. The sym key is controlled by the sym.txt file in your windows folder.

Dutch language XT9 with 16 key's

Can someone help me to install the xT9 Dutch on a HTC TOUCH DUAL 16 key version?
I tried several options and none works.
I have tried adding the Dutch Language pack, but I am not able to make it work cause the IME file hpd.5x4.Dutch.kdb is for the 20 key layout...
When I install the cab the hardware keyboard starts working like the 20 key keyboard.
If I set the language to Englisch, it works (XT9 and ABC), but I want to use the Dutch-libary.
Can some help me with this?
Here you can find the files and registry settings.
An more step by step instruction in dutch you can find here. With those settings I managed to get my Dutch xT9 working on my 16 keys Dual.
Good luck.
I've installed this CAB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343106&page=5
This afternoon I want to set the registry settings manually and copy the files you give.
Tnx!
The problem is changed, after I manually set the registry values and after I copy the files manually, I could only type numbers in Dutch.
If I set the language to English, all works fine, but if I set it to Dutch I can only type numbers (this is in xt9-mode and ABC-mode).
Anybody knows how to fix this?

SIP Change

Hi,
I have SIP change installed on my HTC Touch. But when restart my phone there's comes a messaging like: "The file "sipchange" can not opened. It is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of the components isn't found. You must this file install again or recover if this problem repeated". I have installed it a few times again, but no result. Does anyone know what te problem is?
Thank you
When dealing with complex issues.
The best is to hard reset it.
I have this problem previously and hard reset does it.
PS: Backup before hard reset.
No, it was my rom That program is for an English rom. I'm from the Netherlands so my rom is Netherlands too. The path to the *.exe is different between English and Netherlands. Because it is an other languages.
Oh.
Is it a language pack or something?
You're inputing other languages into the phone right?
My rom is dutch. The program Sip change is a program to change my default keyboard. If i do a soft reset, then cames my standard keyboard back. With sip change you can change that keyboard to an another keyboard like PocketCM.
This program starts directly after starting up my mobile. But he can't find the program self in /Program files/Sipchange/sipchange.exe. In dutch, this path isn't te same as English. Because it is a different language. That's why he can't find the .exe. But now it's over because i know what te problem was
Srry if you don't understand me te last post I tried to speak so good as possible english
Its okay.
Thanks for sharing that to me.
Cheers.

Keyboard problem in 6.5

Hi, guys. I am trying to cook my own ROM for wm6.5. The Problem is I can't change the default keyboard to another keyboard input. Editing the reg in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip] to another keyboard input make the ROM not bootable. Installing SIPchanger also not solve the problem. Is there any other way to forcefully change the default keyboard input??
You do it by changing the guid in the defaultIM reg key; you also need the clsid for the new sip. Let me say, I had a ***** of a time getting it to work w/ resco keyboard (worked fine w/ fnkbd). The key is to set the defaulIM key during customization, otherwise the rom won't boot. The skin files need to be installed before that key is loaded. With fnkbd, you'd just get an error when the welcomehead appeared (annoying) if the defaultIM was cooked in. But with Resco, you never see your bloody welcomehead. I'm not eve sure that the read letters appear on the splash screen.
I set the defaultIM during customization with a mortscript:
Code:
RegWriteString("HKCU","\ControlPanel\Sip","DefaultIM","{A070BE16-AD56-11D3-BC77-00C06C512035}")
It runs after the skin files are installed (also with a mortscript during customization). Again, it's important that the clsid for the keyboard is cooked in, otherwise the rom will brick when you soft reset it. Once the defaultIM is set, you don't need a sipchanger, and reboots are quick
Edit: it's always a good idea to put in all relevant info if you really want help. What keyboard? What sipchanger? What's your package look like? Did you make it yourself? Did you do it manually, or use a cab-2-oem type tool, which probably crapped everything up? My guess is that you used cab-2-oem, but that there was a setup.dll that installs the clsid for the keyboard, and you didn't get that reg key, so now your package doesn't work. I suspect this because it's weird that sipchange isn't working for you-this is probably because you don't have the clsid (you put the shortcut in Startup, right?). Cab-2-oem type deals are not a reliable method to make packages.
