Hi guys.
I have trouble sending sms.
Not able to check my textmessage service number.
Phone, menu, show options, services, voicemail and sms -> get settings..... then i just get an error that i can't connect to network. forwarding etc works just fine to download settings... any ideas?
Iam afraid you need to give more details about your phone .....
there could be alot of things wrong you didn't really tell us anything though besides it isn't working. thats like telling the doctor you are sick.... it really doesn't help fix the problem.

Hey there. Kinda new to WM, but the problem still remains. I bought a SPV M3100, unlocked it with the method described on this forum, and terrible surprize: I cannot make video calls. When I try one, it says it couldnt do it and asks me to choose from : normal call, text message etc. Things like I am not subscribed or I dont have coverage are NOT probable. I am on Vodafone network. Do u have any idea what cold be wrong? Maybe because of the unlocking?
Hi Leoking,
Unlocking shouldn't have done this. Just to be sure you could make and receive video calls before? Your account has video calls enabled? You are seeing a 'U' or '3G' on the top of the phone when you try this?
Gav.
Thank you man for trying, the problem is solved. It was a ROM/Radio problem.
Tell me smth though: do u know how to enable delivery reports for SMS messages?
Goto messages then: Menu > Tools > Options > Text Messages > tick Request delivery notification.
Gav.
Yes now it works. I didnt have that option, had to install a patch.
video calls???
I have an 8525. Can these things make video calls? How do I do it?

Yeah, how?

No they cant, the 8525 does not have the front camera, nor does cingular's network support video calling

Now why would a 3G network not support this? I thought the bandwidth would be fast enough. Does the cingular network somehow know that you're making a video call as opposed to downloading a large file?
its provider dependant.. a 3G network can support video calling, however i think its the way the video call is made, obviously its the same as a data call, but im sure it would reguire different server settings which cingular does not have, nor support... i would imagine it would require a server that would convert your telephone number into your ip address, kinda like a dns server does with a URL... (dont qoute me on that, im not sure how the whole cellular video calling network works, yet) however, i dont see any reason why you couldnt do it with a program such as Microsoft portrait (a beta program i picked up somewhere) which would be able to do it over the internet... makes its call via IP address, but you still run into the problem of the 8525 not having the front camera.
SMS Delivery Reports
Hi I just updated my rom so I could get a new voicemaill notification from vodafone with the new cingular rom and thank god I now get the sms new voicemail reports. But I have found 2 problems 1. I cant switch on delivery reports for sms set to other voicemails. 2 The band selection is gone from the phone setting but I found a registry entry to get this back.
Does anybody know how to sort out he sms delivery report issue

Hi mate, can you tell me what the problem was and what you did to resolve it. I cannot make video calls either, i've tried calling my handset and it goes to videomail. I definately have it set up etc as i used it on my previous handset.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
For the 2 years that I have owned my O2 Xda mini (operating on WM2003SE and using Wisbar Advance 2 overlay), I have not been able to get the SMS to work -- no voice mail, no text messaging. I have contacted my carrier, AT&T (formerly Cingular), and since they don't sell the phone, they are really not interested in solving the problem and suggest that it's the phone. HTC, though, blames the problem on the carrier. I have tried a different SIM card in my phone, but no change.
When I go into the phone options, select Tools/Options/Services and then Voice Mail and SMS, and then press Get Settings..., a message tells me "Reading settings from the network" and a telephone number comes up for "SMS service center," but nothing for "Voice Mail." If I manually enter the number supplied by AT&T and click OK, I get a message: "Sending new settings to the network," then a Network error message: "Unable to save your changes to the network. Try changing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again." It gives me the option to "Retry"; but if I do, I get the same thing.
I can check Voice Mail by dialing my own mobile number, but I do not receive any notifications -- that a message is waiting, that I missed a call, etc. And as for text messaging, I've never tried it because I'm not sure how to do it. In my profession, I really need Voice Mail notification so that I don't miss important messages. Text messaging would be nice as well. I don't want to toss the phone and invest in another because I suspect this is a solvable problem. I just don't know what the solution is.
Sorry to be so ignorant. Any help the community can provide would be much appreciated (since no one else seems interested). Thanks.

The problem is neither the handset not the carrier. Rather its Wisbar Advance 2 most probably. However, I can suggest you that you should try disabling (read uninstalling!) Wisbar and then try. If it doesn't work, you should then make a quick note of all the apps that take data for SMS and Voicemails. Disable all of them and try. It will work!
I had a problem with Wisbar Advance 2 until I upgraded it to 3. So hope that the above works the way it did for me.
Thanks.
Thanks, nirmit, I'll give it a try. I really like the Wisbar interface. It sounds like Wisbar Advance 3 will work, right? I'll keep you posted.

as per title above, does anyone know the 3 network sms settings for xda orbit 2? im using bepes opera edition.
I am on hutchingson 3g. Just use the HTC connection setup wizard tool it works fine.
Then if you want to go further edit your browser ID to nokia N95 and you can access all the 3 video content etc

Seems like the sms message centre number has changed - it should be: +447782000800
I cant seem to find were to change the number though, hope someone else can help?
someone must know, help help!
someone must know, i tried calling three, but the indian call centre, suggested i go to a three store. thats miles away
have you checked your sms service center number.
Go to settings then phone. Then services. The voicemail and text messages. Click get settings and let us know what service number you have in
This is the number already in the settings +447782000800. So everything should work, but it doesnt.
So all you dont have any problems sending text using 3 network?
Why is mine like this
i found the problem. after 3 months of no ability to text, numerous calls to the indian call centre, and countless hours on the forums looking for the answer. heres what fixed mine:
under advanced network settings i changed the sms txt to GSM rather than GPRS.
so simple in the end, a big thanks to all who have previously tried to help me. I holpe this may help others out there who might have the same problem.
im off to send some txt to my friends now haha

Services messages are messages sent by third part services such as the people with ringtones, games wallpapers and other crap.
Contact your operator to cancel those services.
