mode9 editor? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

are there any mode9 editors? (or hell- any info on the format at all?)
(I'm really hoping its somehow Lua based )

I'm guessing you have already checked this thread out??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399212&highlight=manila
I don't know so much (or anything! ) about mode9, Gles and Luaq...
But It would be nice if we could have some app to edit the manile files ( other then images)

According to that list, Gles and mode9 are the same thing.
luaQ is actually just Lua 5.1 (the 'Q' is 0x51... version 5.1), and it is definatly compiled/encoded somehow.. idk how reversable it is. :\

I just did it by a small chance!!!!
You should not use manila editor, just copy the new PNG to your device
for example: windows\glo.png
edit 27c65cbd_manila
<Banner
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\glo.png"
SelectedImagePath="\Windows\glo.png"
then make a soft restart, DONE
I have made a cab for the globe, maybe somebody need it
BTW,my globe should be fixed~~~and I think u can make it better~
hey, the vodaphone doesnt have an internetgraphic, any wsy this can be programmed in for aesthetics?

I'm not an expert... Would love to have this (with black background) as my icon...

I have made it in PS by modifying/editing original opera logos. Below I've attached the .psd with all the layers intact for people who want to edit it in Photoshop for other background colors in TF3D.
http://rapidshare.de/files/40945896/OperaLogo.rar.html
Some help to add this as my default icon in TF3D would be much appreciated...

Oops!!! I missed this... I need to ask a question though, does it need to be a specific size??? Or will the replaced image center automatically??? Also if I want to use the third one I posted (which is a trasparent png) will it show up as transparent in TF3D?
Well I changed the code in 27c65cbd_manila and pasted my glo.png in windows directory... After two softreset nothing have still changed!! It's the original globe still
Also I've checked the 27c65cbd_manila in windows directory with Resco explorer to see that the change really sticked and indeed the...
DefaultImagePath="\Windows\glo.png"
SelectedImagePath="\Windows\glo.png"
...is still there!
Now I'm confused... I have a swedish version of diamond so do I need to edit a different file??? I see in 27c65cbd_manila there's a line that says Text="Launch Browser", in my swedish internet tab there's the text "Öppna webbläsare" which means launch browser in english so maybe I need to find the ******_manila that contains the "Öppna webbläsare" to edit the correct file???
There are tons of these manilla files

HELP !!
I am working on some focus color theme cabs and have a odd bug when using the method to change the opera globe focus color as directed in this thread - any help - here is my request from that thread :
and to see an example please look at the opera focus image from this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3070784&postcount=13
I used the method of changing the xml in '27c65cbd_manila' manila file in notepad to point to a new png in the windows folder to change the focus on the opera globe...which worked (instead of when you directly edit the opera focus manila file - which makes it turn to a blank white rectangle)...however now the 'Launch Browser' words are missing from below the globe.
I am not a manila editing expert so I am confused - where are the words stored - what file was affected by my change to remove them - in manila file '27c65cbd_manila' there is no mention in the xml of this text ,yet I am assuming my editing of this is what has removed the text...
EDIT I SOLVED IT- I must have removed the text= line from the xml when I was editing it Doh !

[Q] How to decompile/recompile binary XML from .apk file?

I have an .apk file which containing the new HTC keyboard, and I tried to translate the Russian layout to Hebrew so I'll be able to use any ROM which use this keyboard (I can't find the original Android SK on the ROM).
There is no problem to find the Russian XML files, but it's all compiled to a strange binary XML.. can someone help me with it? is there any way to decompile it to a normal XML again and then recompile it so i'll be able to override the original on my system?
thanks in advance
Avi
You would have to use a hex editor. More helpful information may be found here:

AXMLPrinter2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514412
Stericson's hex editing tutorial:

Thanks you two
I wish we'll have an app in the future (maybe i'll write one ) that can easly decompile/recompile - just like we have for mode9 files etc.
A problem, I can only decode it to a normal txt file - but I can't recode it back to that binary xml format...
How can I do that?

Hi man, I'm already using AXMLPrinter2.jar to decode the xml file, that's not the problem. I'm looking for a way to recode it back to binary - and jashsu says it's in the SDK, but we have there about 100 different tools so I asked him which one is to recode a simply xml to binary xml that's fits Android
do you know?

[SOLVED]COM5 Expire watermark

How do you disable Beta expiration?
Make an "app.reg" with this key:
Code:

then put it in an EXT folder.
Works like a charm. Thank you so much!
No problem...you are wellcome
Anyone help?
I have tried a couple of times now to use mortscript to remove the "BETA" tags from the registry. I obviously am doing it wrong - can someone post what the mortscript should be for me please?
this is what I tried just now and still no go...
Code:
If ( RegKeyExists("HKLM","\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Device Beta"))
RegDeleteKey("HKLM","\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Device Beta",TRUE,TRUE)

I may be wrong but I don't didn't the os like it if the registry is removed. It'll probably add them back.
I'd just put that in a app.reg in the last package to be processed by the kitchen like this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\DeviceBeta]
"Today"=""
"Expiry"=""
"Reminder"=dword:00000000

You need to patch shell32.exe. Da_G posted one in his thread. Use that.
For lazy people like me, use the attached pkg and put in your EXT. It will replace SYS reg..

[QUESTION] automatic reboot at first boot

Hi
My ROM has some tweaks and extras that needs a soft reset after initialization wth 1st boot. How can I make a automatic reboot just the 1st time the phone boots up?
If you're using RunCC, edit your *.rgu/app.reg accordingly:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\RunCC]
"ResetDevice"=dword:00000001
How can I know if I use runCC?

Problem With add2config Packages?
Hey, I had this problem before where all my packages that I cook in with the add2config method (so they can be removed by the user) aren't installing / aren't being set as default...
These are the following packages that I have the problem with:
BG4All Tabs (add2config) - Doesn't appear in the rom at all
A 6.5.5 Theme (add2config) - Isn't default but is in the list of themes
A 6.5.5 Taskbar (add2config) - Doesn't appear in the rom at all
All this was solved when I changed the runcc rgu file: e110406e-9af4-4cdc-932d-255ac9636f4d like everyone says to "ResetDevice"=dword:00000001
But since rebuilding my kitchen im having the same problem, Ive changed the reset device to 00000001 but still none of the add2config packages are working has anyone got any solutions?
Thanks

I'm not sure anyone will be able to answer that without being totally lucky if you don't post your packages or build-log or at least the add2config text files. Anway, maybe you already do this, but if you don't, then start doing this: after cooking, look in the dump and make sure everything is there. Also, look at config.txt to make sure all the add2config's were compiled properly. This will save you the flash-disappointment.
Ok theres my buildlog, my run cc rgu file and one of my add2config files Thanks.

The add2config.txt file is in the wrong folder; it needs to go in the \files sub-folder of the EXT. Put it in there, and you're problems should go away.
Edit: although, I'm seeing this in the build-log:

So, I guess I don't really understand why the .cab isn't installing. I've never used runcc before, so I can't help you on what may be going on with it. I guess it's ok to put the add2config in the main folder, since it looks like it's compiling correctly.
2nd Edit: all the cab is doing is adding a couple of manila files; you should just dump the two files and put them in an EXT and have them over-write the stock manila files. You don't need to run this as a cab, as far as I can tell.
You need to fix this (minor, but might as well do it):
Failed to parse value name HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\start\Tools\Format SD Card.lnk!!!
