Camera problem: Failed to capture - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

I have a problem with my camera, when ever I want to take a pic, it says this: Failed to set up camera device. 36001:102:0.
Could anyone assist? Thx in advanced.
Also could anyone tell me if this is possible: Having a camera that duplicates the quality of the SGH-D500?

Hermes front VideoCAM- Can you use without videocall or not?

Hi guys,
Since my Universal is dead I've just brought an HTC Tytn.
There is any way to access the front videocam? In Universal you just need to go to camera app and choose the front camera, where you can take pictures and make videos.
In Hermes camera app you can only access the 2.0mpx cam... I've already installed Coolcamera 1.5b and I still can't choose the front VGA videocam.
Any suggestions?
Tks
Phelipe
PS. No 3G networks available in Brazil, so no videocalls yet...

I had same problem, but some folks have said coolcamera can access front camera - maybe someone can let us know how it's done with coolcamera?
Mike
yup coolcamera let's you access it, you just switch from main to frontcam, you can take pics and all using it.
photo / settings / sensor / front
If you go into settings there is a setting called "Sensor" ... you need to change that from 'Main' to 'Front' and then it will capture from the front camera.
Hope this helps
Ahh .. I see Darky beat me to it I really must remember to refresh the page more often
Double thanks

I can use the front camera now with coolcamera but the screen is 90 rotated to the right. There is no way which I could correct this even if I change the rotation setting. Can someone help, please?

Yeah. I get that too.
Also, Probably me being dense, I can't seem to get the web cam to actually work on my pc.
I can set the IP address in the pda to that of my PC. The port is 2047 on both devices, but nothing seems to appear.
What am I doing wrong?

Difficult to say. Presume ypu have used d-pad or jog wheel on device to select webcam mode. Presume you have started the coolcam software on your PC and a coolcam window (which is expandable) has opened on your screen with instructions as to the next steps to take. And finally that your active sync connection is live. Sometimes I get the window on PC coming up blank/black in which case I close PC application and restart it.
The little 90 symbol on screen should rotate image. If not and restarting does not make it work, I think I'd reload the software.

On CoolCamera forums support said that the rotaton issue is a bug they're aware of and will fix later. Nothing you can do for now.

You are not alone see here:

Unfortunately no real solution is given, except for one person he did manage to get it working for a while by taking the SD card in and out.
I assume you've tried soft resets.
Next step may be hard reset.
Failing this maybe a repair/replacement under warranty.

Front Video Cam

Happy holidays to everyone.
I live in India and I dont have 3G network to test the front video camera of my JASJAM. So downloaded the trial version of CoolCamera software and installed it in my device. Then changed the sensor to front, hoping to see some picture. However the display was black and no picture/video was displayed.
I contacted i-mate live support and was told by the support person that it is not possible to test the front camera without 3G network and that they don't support 3rd party software.
Could the problem be with the front video camera?
Any help is deeply appreciated.
Thanks
Ram

I have not heard this reported before. Obviously you can test the front camera without 3G using the CoolCam software.
I would hesitate to think there's a problem with Camera until I had tried Coolcamera several times and possibly even uninstalled it and re-installed it - i.e tend to think more of a software issue first.

Chosing the lens
I just got CoolCamera. How do you change between the front and rear lens?

Lost Front Camera Function
I recently switch my phone from the GER to WWE Cingular ROM, and once I did that, I lost the front camera function. I didn't load any of the extended rom files when I reloaded. Did it contain a cab that enabled this feature. If I please the button, it does nothing.
Thanks

Well as Cingular don't currently support video calling I suppose that may be possible- but I have not heard about it.
Let's see if someone else does
EDIT: in fact the following link shows a post by Rassah that seems to say Front Cam support is included with Cingular ROM. (Mind you he seems to have a mixture of different things there including parts of the TyTn ROM so ????)

Mike
you could always test it with microsoft portrait, its an IP based video calling software that is in beta testing, if you look for it you should be able to find it...
The video call hardware button will not function with any Cingular ROMS. However, video call capabilities can still be had if you load the TyTN extrom. You just have to be content with using the software button that's on the dialer app if you want to make a video call.
FWIW, even when the video button is working it merely does exactly what pressing the green call button does: bring up the dialer app.
As far as the front camera function itself goes, CoolCamera worked just fine for it on my TyTN (the image is rotated 90 degrees CCW tho...) when I was running the v1.31 Cingular ROM.
Thanks for the info, do you know which cab in the extened rom gives me that feature, or will I have to load them all?

Just in case Sleuth255 is busy right now (he probably knows the exact answer!) we know it must be one of the ones that Rassah has listed on his post on this thread;

Camera & GPS

I saw in a screenshot that the camera was able to load GPS data into the picture or something. How can I utilize this? Can't find an option for it on my phone?
You will see the info in the exif of the foto.
cheers
but shouldn't there be a GPS icon or something? The camera looks excactly like before I did the ROM update
yeh you to put it in that option the same way you put the option to do a video or a panorama picture, just move the d-pad.
cheers
I don't understand what you mean!?

Help With Camera Removal

I have successfully removed the camera from my Vogue but I want to do more than just have it physically removed. I also need to remove the camera "software" from the pictues and video viewer. If I click on the camera by mistake, it locks up the phone since it can't find it. I figure it will require registry hacks but I don't know where to begin. Any help would be great. You can track my progress here.
http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=156014
map the camera button to some other function... Start-->Settings-->Buttons and then pick another function, e.g., <OK/CLose>.
um... not what I meant. I have remapped the hardware buttons. I mean in the software. The photo and video viewer itself. When you open up the photo viewer, there is a picture of a camera. As we all have done, we fat finger sometimes and push the wrong thing. If I save a picture someone sends me which I save and I want to look at it I must use the photo viewer. If I hit the little camera icon, my phone locks up because it can't find the camera and I have to reset. Too anoying. I need a fix for that.
got it.... maybe one of the "xda chefs" here can help you out.
That is what I am hoping for.
curious why the removal of the camera?
Required by work and I am not giving up the phone

Please tell me you took some high res pictures of the component side of the board. =) Over on the Titan forum we have been trying to figure out if its possible to do a 128meg upgrade, but we are at a roadblock. We hope that knowing what ram chip the Vogue uses will be helpful to us,but the only pictures we are able to find of it are of too low a resolution to help.
